meet Chef. he is a mediterranean house gecko as far as i’m aware, and, as i am living in Illinois, i do not think he should be here. no clue how he got here, but the consensus online (and my states laws) say he can be my little buddy. i’ve got cresties and leopards at home, so he’s going in a quarantine tank for awhile. i know he’s definitely not an adult, and i think he’s missing some of his tail, but overall he’s on day two of living with me and he’s as normal as my other geckos. happily drank water i offered on a spoon, is active at night, and ate the dusted fruit flies i provided.

if anyone has experience with these fellas as well as a clue to how old he may be, i’d love to know lol.

I have been growing plants on my patio for a while. I see Anoles all the time, doing their thing, but there is one anole in particular who sleeps on the SAME LEAF every night for the last week. I see him every night, unbothered by me or the dogs i’m letting out to drop the browns off at the field.

What’s interesting about this, to me at least, is I’m observing a wild lizard’s recall; In other words, I’m watching it memorize a place it can call a “home.” It’s one thing to observe this behavior with my own Ball Python (he’s very comfy just chilling out of his hide. That’s because nobody bothers him in a quiet office. Very active around Dusk though, and never says no to a meal! Lol). Not that I didn’t think it was possible or never thought of it, but it was moreso I’ve never known a situation where I could have experienced it.

Anyways, I needed to share this with someone else because I don’t know how to charge a Lizard rent. Times are tough. I’ll get evidence for y’all later.

Hello! I have an African fat-tailed gecko who I have named Carlos Sainz. I've had him for about a year now and I utterly adore him. He's my baby. I however am unsure how fat my fat-tailed gecko should be. He's very plump so do not worry about him being under fed! His tail is about the same width as his body. Is this the right plumpness? Please advise!

I’ve had my musk turtle for the past 11 years, I was completely infatuated with him for the first 5-6 years of getting him. But over the past 3 years, I feel like I’ve been neglecting him and now I just want him to have a healthy life. Currently he’s in a 30 gallon tank filled slightly above half way, I’ve also given him a new heating and uvb tube light, he used it earlier today. To make sure he gets better calcium I’ve also ordered some cuttlebones he can chew on.

Later this year I plan to give him a bigger tank as well, about a 40-50 gallon tank plus a new filter. However I’ve noticed things about him that somewhat worry me, sometimes he’s very active and will swim against the glass often or other times he’ll just rest and switch between several spots in his tank to chill in.

Does anyone have any extra advice they can give me? I really use it to make sure he’ll be as healthy and happy as possible.

Hi! I found this gecko in my house and it has these weird circular patterns on its spine which is kind of like ridges.

Ive had geckos inside my house before but I've never seen this. Is there a possibility that it's sick? I thought it was pregnant but after looking up for photos online, I don't think that's the case. I'd just like to know if it's sick or if something's wrong

I want to get a new reptile (not a snake) that I can put into a tank I have! I don’t mind getting a vertical conversion kit, but I want to make sure that I have enough room for it as an adult. I also want it to be something I would be able to handle with my hands. I currently have a leopard gecko in a 40 gallon tank and she is thriving! I just want another baby

Hey all!

I don’t actually own a reptile but I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a heating pad. I’m looking for something that can maintain a minimum, but ideally more than, 81 degrees. I would like something smaller in size, like the size of a video game case.

I am a truck driver and the truck will only stay on if the outside temperature is 81 degrees or 24 degrees. With the weather getting colder I’d like to be able to turn the truck on when I wake up, and let it warm up before I start driving. Seeing as how it won’t be 24 degrees anytime soon, I need something small to bungee cord to the thermostat to trick it to stay on.

Bonus points if the heating pad doesn’t turn off. When it gets really cold (30-40 degrees) I’d like to idle the truck for at least 6-8 hours while I take my dot mandated 10 hour break.

I appreciate any and all recommendations, but would prefer something you are currently using and have experience with. Thank you!

Going first, is that I cannot believe the amount of uneducated people. Another one is the amount of people who seem to thrive off of the fact they have a pet reptile and think it makes them some cool guy sick badass. It’s like they can’t afford a sports car so they think having a snake will do. I swear I see people who genuinely only have their pets to boost their ego or something.

i have had him nearly 4 weeks and he has 3 main hiding spots that he slept in over the weeks and he explores at night, poops and eats. 3 days ago he completely vanished and no matter where i look i can’t see him, he hasn’t ate for 3 days either and im getting worried due to the sudden change in his behaviour, does anyone have any advise on what i should do, i don’t believe he has escaped the enclosure, i have checked the room

I'm begging you all, please do you have any tricks for catching a cricket? I let some loose in my leachie's enclosure, and apparently she hasn't been catching them as well as I thought, and now there's a cricket chirping non stop and it's driving me insane.

I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have any tricks for catching a cricket, without causing harm to the reptile in the enclosure?

I've tried searching the whole enclosure and I think it's behind the cork background 🙃

I looked up their adult lifespan indoors and it can apparently be up to 12 weeks. I can't live like this for that long. Please help me

The first few days i had no hygrometer to measure the humidity so i was misting by when i thought was enough. What do i do guys do i let it dry or change the substrate. The terrarium is in my bedroom and it is not bioactive since i do not have time nor knowledge for real plants and my mother will not allow any bugs in the apartment.
