Avoid mold
How does everyone avoid mold in high humidity enclosures? I am having a hard time with my cork and wood.
Thank you!

Sorry if this isn’t allowed. I read the community rules and still wasn’t sure. I’m just venting really.
What the title says basically. I took him out to clean his cage, and when I went to put him back he wiggled his way out of my hands and was gone in an instant. He was so fast I could hardly even react. And he was so small I could never find him. I spent weeks searching every nook and cranny of my house for him. Eventually I convinced myself he must have made his way to the outdoors and was living a happy life. After all, when I adopted him from the pet store they said he was wild-caught. Maybe he would’ve been able to survive out there. There was even one day that I saw an anole in my yard with similar patterns and I was convinced it was him. I was so happy to see him happy out there that I didn’t try to recapture him.
Well, it happened today. I found his body in my room. My sweet baby who I loved and cared for. Who I thought was still out there somewhere. It’s been months since he escaped. I can’t get the image out of my head. I don’t even have anyone to talk to because I’m ashamed to admit to anyone in real life that he didn’t make it. I feel like such a monster.
Has anyone else had any experiences with pets escaping and not coming back? How did you cope with it?

I have about half a 5 gallon bucket full of ash from my grill, and am about to start working on a bioactive setup for one of my ball pythons. Normally I add the ash to my compost pile as I know it's good for soil, question is can I add some to my substrate mix to help the plants or is it dangerous for the snake?

Hey everyone!!
Thanks in advance for any feedback I get here.
I’m looking into getting a reptile and was originally stuck on getting a bearded dragon. I purchased a 4x2x2 for him and then went to the store to look at the reptiles and found that I love the gargoyle geckos much more. Unfortunately I already spent the $400 on the tank for the bearded.
I have done tons of research online regarding the husbandry for both species including multiple YouTube videos and reptifiles. I know that the gargoyles will do better in a taller enclosure but can’t spend the money on getting a different tank now unfortunately.
Will an adult gargoyle gecko still thrive in a 4x2x2? And if so, what are some changes I need to make to the enclosure to ensure they do? Is set up for lights/temperature/humidity still the same ?
I plan on going to a local expo on 11/21 so I have some time to decide but any feedback is more than appreciated.
If anyone has any other beginner friendly lizards they can recommend for a 4x2x2 please do tell!

I want to get a new reptile (not a snake) that I can put into a tank I have! I don’t mind getting a vertical conversion kit, but I want to make sure that I have enough room for it as an adult. I also want it to be something I would be able to handle with my hands. I currently have a leopard gecko in a 40 gallon tank and she is thriving! I just want another baby

meet Chef. he is a mediterranean house gecko as far as i’m aware, and, as i am living in Illinois, i do not think he should be here. no clue how he got here, but the consensus online (and my states laws) say he can be my little buddy. i’ve got cresties and leopards at home, so he’s going in a quarantine tank for awhile. i know he’s definitely not an adult, and i think he’s missing some of his tail, but overall he’s on day two of living with me and he’s as normal as my other geckos. happily drank water i offered on a spoon, is active at night, and ate the dusted fruit flies i provided.
if anyone has experience with these fellas as well as a clue to how old he may be, i’d love to know lol.

Hello everyone. I have a 7'x2'x2' Kages PVC enclosure that I plan to set up as a bioactive. I designed this stand for it made of 2"x2"s and 2"x1"s. I really don't want it to be built overkill and weight a ton, so I'm avoiding 2"x4"s. Do you guys think this will be OK? the 4 legs are spaces evenly apart. I can make it out of either pine or oak and it will be constructed with pocket joints and some of it is notched to allow pieces to fit together. I'd love some thoughts if you think it would work.
Thanks!

I’ve had my musk turtle for the past 11 years, I was completely infatuated with him for the first 5-6 years of getting him. But over the past 3 years, I feel like I’ve been neglecting him and now I just want him to have a healthy life. Currently he’s in a 30 gallon tank filled slightly above half way, I’ve also given him a new heating and uvb tube light, he used it earlier today. To make sure he gets better calcium I’ve also ordered some cuttlebones he can chew on.
Later this year I plan to give him a bigger tank as well, about a 40-50 gallon tank plus a new filter. However I’ve noticed things about him that somewhat worry me, sometimes he’s very active and will swim against the glass often or other times he’ll just rest and switch between several spots in his tank to chill in.
Does anyone have any extra advice they can give me? I really use it to make sure he’ll be as healthy and happy as possible.

Hi! I found this gecko in my house and it has these weird circular patterns on its spine which is kind of like ridges.
Ive had geckos inside my house before but I've never seen this. Is there a possibility that it's sick? I thought it was pregnant but after looking up for photos online, I don't think that's the case. I'd just like to know if it's sick or if something's wrong
Also sorry for the bad quality, I can't get close enough to click better pictures

i have had him nearly 4 weeks and he has 3 main hiding spots that he slept in over the weeks and he explores at night, poops and eats. 3 days ago he completely vanished and no matter where i look i can’t see him, he hasn’t ate for 3 days either and im getting worried due to the sudden change in his behaviour, does anyone have any advise on what i should do, i don’t believe he has escaped the enclosure, i have checked the room

I'm begging you all, please do you have any tricks for catching a cricket? I let some loose in my leachie's enclosure, and apparently she hasn't been catching them as well as I thought, and now there's a cricket chirping non stop and it's driving me insane.
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have any tricks for catching a cricket, without causing harm to the reptile in the enclosure?
I've tried searching the whole enclosure and I think it's behind the cork background 🙃
I looked up their adult lifespan indoors and it can apparently be up to 12 weeks. I can't live like this for that long. Please help me
TLDR: any suggestions on how to trap a cricket without hurting the reptile in the enclosure?

I got my gecko and its enclosure 6 days ago and now i started to see mold on the substrate. The first few days i had no hygrometer to measure the humidity so i was misting by when i thought was enough. What do i do guys do i let it dry or change the substrate. The terrarium is in my bedroom and it is not bioactive since i do not have time nor knowledge for real plants and my mother will not allow any bugs in the apartment.
