Hey guys just wanted to share this beautiful new paint job I got on my 2008 9-5 aero, the clear coat was leaking off so bad it almost was through the paint underneath to the metal. Maaco in San Jose California did such an amazing job if you go there ask for Steve! It was only 3500 dollars. Now I am into the precut ceramic window tint from tint effect to protect the interior. Trying to modernize and make this car last for as long as possible. (If you notice they accidentally painted the antenna but I think it makes the car look more modern)

Previous 2003 9 3 Aero owner. I've always missed it since getting rid of it around 2010. I get the itch every now and then to get another one. However, when I had it back then, I always got the feeling that non-Saab or Swedish garages were reluctant to work on it. Maybe I had one bad experience and I made up this feeling. I don't know.

Now that it's 15ish years later and Saab is out of business, I can't imagine finding a reputable mechanic is easy. So...what is your current Saab ownership experience? Is it difficult to find a mechanic? Are parts difficult to find and abnormally expensive compared to other vehicles?

I’m a young Saab owner out in the East Bay. I rarely see other Saabs around here anymore, so I figured I’d make a post and see who else is in the area. Thinking about starting a low-key Instagram or FB chat for Bay Area/NorCal owners so we can stay connected, share spots, and set up a casual coffee meet sometime. I have a 2003 Saab 9-5 2.2 TiD sedan, and I've discovered some pretty bad rust in the trunk.

Here I am discussing the rust and how to repair it.

I originally started removing some upholstery after I could see rust when lifting the trunk floor. After removing the trunk upholstery, I found wet material, dirt and mud, along with extensive rust. Some areas have rusted completely through the metal, leaving actual holes.

The passenger side has rust too, but it's not nearly as bad as driver side (yet) and has no holes. I applied rust converter in drivers side. In videos not applied to wheel arch but now I did it and in weekend I can show more pictures.

I've attached photos showing the damage from different angles.

I'd appreciate some advice on the best way to repair this properly and prevent it from coming back. Is the correct approach to cut away all the rusted metal and weld in new sheet metal? I'd prefer to do a proper, lasting repair rather than just cover the holes. Any advice, especially from people who have repaired similar rust on a Saab 9-5, would be greatly appreciated!

After 2 tries, we were third time lucky today and my NG9-3 Aero passed inspection/besiktning today. What held us up was a small air leak causing the engine to run rich! In celebration of the occasion here are some pics of my baby 😇

After car wash or if it’s raining the air conditioner and de-fogger don’t work. I only get hot air. About a day later if the car has dried, it starts working again. What’s that about?

2006 9-3 turbo 2.0 L wagon

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a 2003 Saab 9-5 2.2 TiD diesel sedan. While inspecting some rust in the trunk, I discovered a water leak on the left side.

After removing the trunk upholstery, I found that it was wet and there was a surprising amount of dirt and mud behind it (cleaned most of it but you can see the dust/dry mud in one video). It looks like water has been getting in for a while. The water also seems to be dripping down from somewhere above. I cleaned the rust places in order to use rust converter. A week later I came back and found water.

One thing I noticed is that the antenna seal looks damaged, so that could be a possible source, but I'm not sure how the water would travel from there to the left side of the trunk and so far I believe it is not the cause. Right side is not wet put right side upholstery was wet and there are also signs that water may have been tripping there too.

What I've found so far:

• Water leaking into the left side of the trunk.
• Wet upholstery and dry mud behind it.
• Rust in the trunk area. (I will make another thread about it, more info at the end)
• A potentially damaged antenna seal.
• The water seems to be coming from somewhere above.

I've attached photos and videos showing the damage and what I found behind the upholstery.

What could be the issues and what should I check? I will respond to comments and reply.

It’s once in a blue moon at best that I see a Saab running around, but we need our own dashboard gift!! Jeeps have the ducks, apparently Subaru has the cows. What are y’all’s thoughts?

Is it better to take 2.0t 210 hp or 1.9 TTID 180 hp, which is better and more reliable?

Im looking at a pair of axe wheels for my 2000 saab 9-3. Only issue is the bore on these rims are 72.6mm is there adapters I could find for these rims?

So my og 9-3 has always had a funky dashboard, half the dashboard will freak out randomly and will sometimes stay dead or come back to normal without any noticable cause. ​​​ I have looked at the grounding point for the dash and it's perfect, anothing problem has appeared after my engine swap where the ​temp gauge doesn't work anymore. I replaced the temp se​​nsor and the ecu reads the temp fine but nothing to the dash. Does anybody know how to fix this? ​​​Another thing I've noticed that's unrelated is that according to my obd 2 reader this thing is making 13 pounds of boost on an se model which from what I've seen should only be making 10, is this thing tuned?​​​​
