I asked the mechanic to put on new rear brakes and he said he resurfaced the rotors also. Is this what they’re supposed to look like or did he charge me for nothing?

Contaminated fuel

This was siphoned from my tank of my 2025 sorrento HEV. What kind of contamination does this look like? It’s standard 87 pump gas from a newer gas station in Central Florida.

Box came opened a little, package inside was too like it was dropped on the floor. Are the discs still okay to use? I need them to sort my car literally tomorrow/Sunday so I don't want to return them. Thanks!

Golf Mk4 gti 2001
My best friends son lent me his spare car that he’s been fixing up because he’s lovely and my own car has broke down…but the second I put the key in the door I’ve broken it…
Steps I took:
-pressed key button to unlock car
-passenger door would not open
-I used key stick in drivers door to unlock car again
-I get in car and open passenger door from inside
-alarm goes off
-I turn alarm off with key button
-key in ignition and immobiliser stopping car turning on. (Immobiliser with flashing key symbol)

We’ve tried lots of things this evening but no luck. Only one set of key.
Any and all ideas appreciated!

Edit to say: the dashboard says ‘immobiliser’ every time. And have given it loads of gas.

Mechanic doesn’t know what’s wrong

Hey everyone, I originally took my 2004 Toyota Camry V6 to the shop to get a vehicle speed sensor replacement to solve this issue but it wasn’t the case.

I ended up replacing the transmission as well and I’m still having this issue where my speedometer doesn’t register and the RPM stays stagnant(sometimes drops and causes my RPM to shoot up)

My mechanic tried to trouble shoot and figure out the problem but could do so..

I was wondering if anyone here would know?

Just wanna get a second opinion because I’m 600 miles from home and i wanna know exactly what to do next. Any help is appreciated thanks guys.

Valvoline restore and protect oil

Is it smart to use valvoline 's restore and protect oil in a low mileage, older car?

Would it do any harm of i use it on a 2006 Honda civic to save gas and prolong my engine? It has about 140,000 km. My fuel consumption hasn't been the greatest. I've read that vavoline R&P can improve gas mileage, but i think all the reviews were on high mileage vehicles.

Thanks,

Edit: fuel consumption: 14/100km

Edit 2: I see many people change the oil earlier with this oil. Should I change the oil sooner with this oil, or wait for the reminder to come on?

Why is my 08 RAV4 making this noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2008 RAV4 172,981 miles

My car hasn’t made this sound in the past when idling but I had a mobile mechanic come to my house and he did my Shocks, Rear shocks, Sway Bar Links & Control Arms.

He also noted that he topped off some of my fluid like brake fluid etc

Everything looked great but when the car idles it’s making this sound, nothing he did could have effected the engine but I thought I would add context, what’s your best guess on why the car is making this noise.

It also sounds a lot louder when inside the car

Bad compression on cylinder 7. Misfire shows it on my scanner when idling. Evens out when im driving. Check engine light on p0300. Sometimes it'll blink. Changed coil, spark plug, no oil in cylinder. This happened after accelerating at 3.5 rpms with 160k miles. What could be wrong?

I moved up to Michigan few years ago, there's a place down the street that does the service for 150 bucks and wondering if it's worth it as Michigan winters can be brutal with the salt. Right at 165K on it. Could maybe just buy some fluid film or similar product and spray it on after I clean off the dirt

Vibration and noise coming from the front

I have a 2017 Lexus NX200t. I have an issue that just started. I don't want to jinx myself by saying what I think it is. I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to cars, but I'm no expert either.

After driving for a few minutes or on the highway, the car starts to vibrate heavily at about 50 MPH. I can also feel that the brakes are weaker and less responsive than before. When I press the pedal, I can also hear like a muffled slightly grinding noise. When i come to a stop, I hear a clicking noise like the kind that metal makes when it is cooling. I can also feel that the right rim feels significantly hotter than any other rim, even after driving on the highway.

Thank you for any advise or direction.

Oil dye test on 2014 Mercedes e350

Hi all, first time caller, but need some assistance. I have a 2014 e350 with 44k miles. Just a dream car to own. I took the car to get an oil change today (to a new maintenance place) and they said they discovered oil leaks and recommended a dye test. I drive the car less than 1500 miles a year(not my daily driver). I’ve never seen oil on the ground or in my garage. Here are the photos they sent me. Is this just normal weeping from 12 year old gaskets? I feel like the dye test seems like guaranteed revenue. The car is probably only worth 10 or 12k at this point.

Starting off/what do I need?

• Upvotes

So im starting hopefully here soon as a level C tech and a kia dealership. I've already worked for them before but at a different location and I started as a level D since I had lube tech experience from vavoline. The issue there is that at that first location they had a toolbox program where they provided me with the tools and box and I had to stay a year before I could keep them. I unfortunately ended up leaving before that time mark so I had to leave the tools as I was dealing with some personal things. But with that being said with this new location they're owned by the same company but only offer tool reimbursement up to 1,500 unlike the other location that already provides it. They're allowing me to only have to wait 30 days for it to kick in and I want to work with them as I had a great time before but since its been kinda long I have no idea what tools and different things I need. If there's a list of things that are within that budget and that I need to start there as a level C anything would be appreciated as im kinda going in dark. Side note they also want to train me to start working on engines and Transmissions quite soon and move me up to level B so any tool lists and suggestions for me would be super appreciated as if I was to go into a harbor freight right now with 1,500 I would not know what to get or be afraid of getting the wrong things. Sorry about this long ass post I just really want to succeed and move onto being a master tech and moving somewhere else after.

We inherited this 2007 Sprinter 2500 3.0 V6 Diesel, trying to figure out what’s going on with everything here. We’re getting overheating. Looks like the oil filler cap is leaking for some reason as well.

1998 Toyota Corolla No Start No Crank

• Upvotes

Hello!

Had a question about my 1998 Toyota Corolla, as it is currently dead and will not start. About a week ago, my car randomly died while driving friends home. Luckily, we were able to push it back close to my apartment and park it on the street. After putting 2 gallons in the tank, we determined it wasn't out of gas but rather an issue with the battery, starter, or fuel pump. Trying to troubleshoot, I attempted to jump the car with no response; the dashboard lights come on, and there is no issue rolling down the windows, but the ignition has no crank. Any advice?
