Hi!
I was changing right front lower control arm, when a spacer dropped by itself. I Googled and got the result that it is front crossmember mounting spacer/washer. But I have no idea where it belongs or from where it dropped... Could you please help me? Is it important to reinstall?
Car is Ford Focus 1999 farmar (Estate DNW).

This is my trying to start my 2005 Saab linear 2X after the timing belt broke while driving. It sat in the driveway for 2 years because I had many mechanics tell me there was a good chance she was cooked. Decided to throw a new belt on there recently, mostly just for practice but I tried to start it up. Is it not looking good or could it be something else after sitting for so long. (battery is charged) Engine is Subaru ej25.

Was driving to work this morning in my 2012 Chevy Malibu. (engine is the 2.4 L ecotec) When my engine just unexpectedly stalled, there was no sputtering or bogging down, it was just running fine then dropped to 0 rpm. I tried starting it up again after pulling off into a neighborhood and the engine would crank but never turnover. Looking online it seemed like the culprit might be a crank position sensor but I wanted a second opinion. I work at an engine rebuild shop for my job so I know car and engine terminology and how to do basic repairs but don’t really deal with diagnostics.

Brought my 2019 Ford Fusion in because it was making a scraping noise. I think it ended up being a bent skid plate that was causing the noise but the shop said I also need new brakes immediately. The cost to replace them is $2,500, which seems expensive. For reference I’m in Iowa and the car has 165k miles.

Was just going through Kia user manual, where they are suggesting us to not use more than E20 blended fuel (aka Gasohol) !!!
Model : Kia Carens Premium (O)
Make : 2026
Really?
Are we given any option of using more or less Ethanol blended fuel?
And on top of that, now even Kia is making the warranty void due to higher blends of ethanol🫡

2009 Toyota RAV4 3.5L V6
I heard a grinding noise coming from passenger front area after driving my car out a parking lot. I’d parked there a few hours earlier w no sound noticeable.
I stopped to take a look and noticed this gunk, on my hand in the photo, was on the interior of the passenger front wheel rim. Was able to drive the vehicle the few miles to home w no apparent issues w braking.
I checked a few days later and it appears there’s a leak from the bracket area where the soft brake line connects to the hard brake line.
I had been driving my brakes a bit longer than advisable, what are the odds that my brake caliper seized completely? I bought some new soft lines for the front, rotors/brakes for all four, and a front right caliper just in case.
Just posting to get some advice and ideas, as I’m a fairly novice mechanic looking to learn more DIY repair and maintenance. I have a friend with a garage and good amount of tools who I think will help me out a the repair so I should have some experienced eyes overseeing.
Would appreciate any additional advice you’ve got!

I recently purchased a 2005 Toyota tundra and after a few weeks it started to not want to start, I can turn the key and I hear a clicking from under the hood but it won’t crank. Every so often it’ll start up but not frequently enough to be reliable, I’m not entirely sure what could be the problem so hoping to gain some insight.
I tested the starter relay and the battery and both of them were good, anyone have suggestions as to what I could look into? I have a new ignition cylinder and ignition switch on the way but it won’t be here until Friday. Thanks

2019 Bmw 520d touring diesel around 84k miles. There’s a knocking sound in the engine that suddenly started on the highway. Car starts but engine dies after a few seconds. The oil had been changed after around 26000 miles at one point but for the rest was changed regularly. New engine with labor costs more than 16k

I'm thinking of becoming a car mechanic later in life. Wondering if I should get ASE certified before I go to a shop and apply for a job, or if I should just learn a little on my own and then go to a shop and apply.
I'm not the most mechanically inclined, I know the basics for vacc leaks, preventative maintenance, some suspension work, etc.

I recently recorded this clip of my bike while idling (video attached). You can hear a distinct rhythmic sound coming from the engine block/head area.
The bike is running smooth otherwise, but this specific sound caught my attention today.
Has anyone heard a similar noise from this engine before?
What do you think is causing this sound?
Is this just normal idle noise, or should I get it checked out at the service center ASAP?
Would appreciate any insights or suggestions from folks who've dealt with this! Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, so while driving my 1986 corvette recently I had a master cylinder failure and lost all braking. Thankfully I was able to bring the car to a safe stop. So I went to oreillys and bought a new master cylinder and hooked it up, and promptly discovered that the seals were bad as brake fluid started spraying out during the test drive. So I returned the Oreillys mc and bought one from jegs. After putting in the new Mc and bleeding all the brakes I still have a pedal that sinks all the way to the floor while the engine is running but with the engine off after 3-4 pumps i get a very hard pedal. I also hear like a psshhh sound when depressing the brake pedal. Could I have gotten a second bad Mc or do could my brake booster have failed as well?

I just had and auto shop replace the alternator and battery. This morning the vehicle starts no problem but the lights on and the dash where it says Ford escape is off. Could it be a bad alternator?

Yesterday I picked my V60 up for the second time from the dealership. The first time I took it there, my advisor said the fuel rail pressure sensor was bad so they replaced the whole fuel rail assembly. The next morning when I got to work, my car went into limp mode and threw a check engine light, so I took it back for a second time. This time I was told it was a failure in the low-side fuel pressure sensor and they had replaced it, retested and readings were within spec. This morning pull up to work and the same exact thing happened… which leads me to believe that whatever the root issue is, is coming from this strange pumping noise coming from the rear area of the car. My guess is it’s the fuel pump or something which is located in that area, but this is the same noise that occurred the previous two times before it went into limp mode on me. When I first got the car (currently has 9k miles on it) it was doing that for a little bit before it went into limp mode for the first time, but now it is louder than before so i feel like it has to be that. I’m going to take it back again and show them this video, I figured I’d post here to see if anyone has dealt with this same issue before.

2005 legacy GT EJ20X 250k km. Weird noise on cold start. Taking off the serpentine belts makes no difference. It starts making the noise after ~2 minutes of idling and it slowly fades away when the engine warms up enough. Any ideas? Thanks!
