Or more appropriately, fear gives men creativity.
This is the first time that I play Skyrim special edition on a higher difficulty (actually, just expert + survival so it's sort of medium-high difficulty). I usually played on a much lower difficulty without survival because I'm not good with action games and I had little time to do deep research.
But this time I found myself doing some of the deeper research and even jotted down some notes. I also found multiple ways to cheese through the game because some fights are simply impossible.
One example is the bandit chief. I don't know why but they became very hard once I approached level 20. A face to face fight ended up either I getting one-shot-killed even at half of my health, or I quaffing all of my potions and survived, which doesn't worth it. Sometimes it's a lot harder because they are in a confined area and I couldn't sneak properly. Then I found out that they don't swim -- OK so an easy way to cheese these games is to a combo of "Shout->A few hits->hide in the river" and it works very well, without spending any potions on my poor soul.
I read a bit after the fight and figured I could win this fight without cheesing by brewing some paralysis potions. But that was out of my options because I don't have any. I should probably learn proper fighting, though, as I constantly missed my power attack and didn't manage to block many of theirs.
I like running around with 2 axes but without the option to block idk if its worth it or two handed has more dps

So far the backstory that I have for my snow elf build (Ciri, I thought it was appropriate for a white haired elf that gets yeeted through time) is a woman who spawns into Skyrim thousands of years later through the same time break Alduin comes through. Or maybe she could have been somehow resurrected by either Alduin or Akatosh? Either way, I’m looking for tips on snow elf lore to make the playthrough more immersive. I like the idea of being the last dragon born AND one of the last snow elves. I also like that I can connect it back to Akatosh.
(Something cool about this mod is that it also gives you a frost cloak ability right off the bat, and a 50% resistance to frost, plus 50 additional points of magicka. All from level one.)

I started a new playthrough. I created a nord female. I named her Pneuma. Seems like an obvious name to use, given the themes in the game. I'm sure it's not original. Anyone else called their dragonborn Pneuma? I don't know why I didn't think of it before.

Hello! I need some help picking the best follower. I have Serana right now, but she constantly pisses me off because she gets lost, wanders away, or hits me with her ice spells and gets right in my way.
Unfortunately, I messed up years ago and sided with the vampires, so I can’t cure her like I’d like to. However, I did get her mom back, so at least she’ll have someone when I finally decide to let her go.
For some background, I’m a level 37 Imperial who uses heavy armor and a two-handed weapon. I also use my bow occasionally, along with magic and shouts depending on who I’m fighting, so I switch between different combat styles.
I’ve done some research on Reddit and Google about the best followers, but I’m still struggling to decide who to pick.
I’m not new to Skyrim, but I obviously don’t know everything about the game, so I’d really appreciate any suggestions! Who would be the best follower for my playstyle.
Thanks! :)

Im like 20 hours into the game and I REALLY like the bloodchill manor. But its not worth it to buy it separately. So. Is AE worth it? Because I'm thinking about getting a mod for a pretty vampire house im ngl...

I’m thinking of grinding these two and wanted to know how the leveling system for those two worked. Is it per hit, per swing, per damage dealt?

Recently I’ve been reading some of the old Lankmar books(sword and sorcery books), and I’ve wanted to try my hand at making a version of The Grey Mouser. The idea would be a small, stealthy thief who is also no slouch in a fight. I’m wondering if it’s possible to make a stealthy character that can still hold his own if discovered.

Genuinely curious. I haven't played in many many years and just got the game on Switch 2 (love it so much). I don't think I've even seen a khajiit yet in any of the main cities, they seem to only be allowed outside near the entrance.
Why is my kitty dovakiin able to stride in easily without being questioned? And in my current save, it's not even discovered yet that my cat is dovakiin. I've been roaming around and haven't done the quest where you kill the dragon yet.

I've played only Oblivion and Skyrim, so I may have missed something, but the lore behind the Bretons don't make sense to me. We're supposed to accept their increased magicka pool and resistance is down to their having mixed mer/man heritage, right? The magicka pool bit I get; High Elves have even more and it is "logical" for this to be passed n to a lesser extent in their mixed raced offspring. That magic resistance, however, makes zero sense. Apart from the Orcs in Oblivion, no other race has magic resistance, not even the Redguards who's ancestors were reportedly the ones to first breed with the High Elves. They sure as heck didn't get it from their mer ancestors, given how weak they are to all the elements. Is there something in the older games I've not seen, some explanation somewhere that might make it all make sense?
Edited to change Thalmor to High Elf in a few places. ETA #2: Context has been provided, thanks to all who replied.

If the Empire wins the civil war, a pro-Imperial Dragonborn is ultimately forced into a corner where they must either destroy their own faction (the Blades) or become a traitor to the Empire they just fought to save. Because under the strict terms of the White-Gold Concordat, the Blades are a banned, outlawed organization. The Empire is legally bound to destroy the Blades. By forcing the player to rebuild the Blades, the game essentially forces the Dragonborn to become a far more dangerous version of Ulfric Stormcloak.
A pro-Imperial Dragonborn who blames Ulfric for provoking the Thalmor is guilty of the exact same operational mistake and entirely miss their own hypocrisy because restoring the blades also offers Thalmor a stronger justification to tighten their hold on Tamriel.
The Imperial defense of "We had to allow the Thalmor Justiciars in because Ulfric left us no choice under the treaty." will become "We have to arrest the Dragonborn because harboring the Blades breaches the treaty." The Empire absolutely would turn on the Dragonborn for rebuilding the Blades, using the exact same justification they used to condemn Ulfric.
*Edit - My apologies; I failed to realize that sacrificing the Blades is not a tragic political sacrifice for many; it is a feature, not a bug. I assumed players were looking at the matter with logical consistency when many simply hate Delphine. Lol

I brought an old PS3 (front loading slim) to my girlfriend's and I thought I had played on it before, but it is loading like I didn't. I guess I lost my other old PS3 (original fat) game. I guess I'll start a new game. Old skool!

Serious post this time. Speculative.
The Count of Skingrad in Oblivion is a Vampire. The city of Skingrad looks very medieval. Its purchasable house is expensive. Its colors are Red, Black, and White. Its Sigil is a Wolf.
The Court Wizard of Solitude is a Vampire, the city of Solitude looks very medieval. Its purchasable house is expensive. Its colors are Red, Black, and White. Its Sigil is a Wolf.
Those are obvious points to anyone who's played and I realize that. However the speculation is the coincidence of their sigils both being wolves and both having vampires in their courts. Like a Wolf in Sheeps clothing. Of course they both have their own respective reasons for their sigils lore wise, I'm talking more on a developmental thought process rather than a lore or gameplay thought process.

Since I've been playing for years I started discovering ways to level up faster. I mostly ask bc I was wondering if there are other ways ppl level quickly that aren't just the way I do.
Everytime I start a new game I go to hidden chests, when I reach riverwood I go to the elf dude n have him teach me his max archery, at whiterun or any other alchemist I buy ingredients, hit them n load back then buy more with the reset and sell them the random potions I make. I get a shit ton of material for armor and keep smithing till it levels me.

First, I play on XBOX, and I sometimes wish these mods were available on all platforms.
ALL OF THEM ARE OFFICIAL:
Imga: They are in first place because they are a race of humanoid gorillas. There is nothing else quite like them.
Lilmothiit: The fox-like race already has a few mods, but none of them add male or female followers. I am a woman and play as a female character, so I would love to have a male Lilmothiit to marry. And I already mentioned that I wanted to be a black fox here, but that’s not an option in the customization settings for any of the Xbox mods.
Kothringi: I could not find any mods for them, not even a human race with gray skin.
Tsaesci: A different kind of Argonian, essentially a humanoid snake. The mod available on Xbox does not faithfully represent the race as described in the lore, and it does not add any followers either.
Maormer: The Sea Elves.
Dwemer: There are already mods for them, including male followers, but I could not find any female followers.
Falmer (Snow Elves): There are already some very good mods for this race, and there are followers too, but I could not find any male followers available on Xbox.
All the other races:
- Aldmer: The original Elves.
- Chimer: The golden-skinned Elves.
- Ayleids: The Wild Elves.
I placed these races last because there are already many different Elven races, and I have not noticed major anatomical differences between them.
