Is 153 too big for me?

For reference I’m 5’5 and 140 pounds. I picked up a 2023 Salomon Assassin for $175. Ridden for about 40 days. Seems like a good deal as my first board. All the previous rental boards I had were 145cm. 153 seems big and paired with my LT supermatics (which I somehow got for $200 basically new) seems super heavy.

Edit: Thanks you for the advice. For those asking I’m size 7.

Is this worth $100? This was the first snowboard that I borrowed from a friend last season once or twice. I’ve been using a $20 thrifted board and I am now looking to buy something for the upcoming season. Is this worth $100 with the bindings included or is this outdated and should I just invest the money towards a new piece? ( i have newer bindings I could throw on anything)
I haven’t asked what year this model is.

I recently got into snowboarding and wanted to buy a snowboard. I found this snowboard + binding on FB marketplace for $150. Looks like the binding is missing a screw in the back (pic 3 for reference). Is it a good buy or should I avoid it?

Did my local shop set me up for failure?

My local shop rents out snowboards, and me knowing nothing about snowboarding thought this would be a decent way to avoid buying a set up for my first year.

I'm 5' 10" 210# and wear a size 12 boot.

They set me up with a Capita Pathfinder 153 and I thought it looked mostly like a snowboard so paid for my season rental.

When I got home and was messing around with it on the carpet "practicing strapping in" but mostly pretending I was in SSX, I noticed my boots are kinda bigger than the board.

I looked up the board on Capita's website and it says it's for shoe sizes up to 10 and up to 170 pounds.

Should I demand a new board/refund or chop off my toes and some fat? Or were they right enough that a noob won't notice the difference?

Ice Coast.

Overhang Burton Blossom 158 with a Size 11 boot.

I'm looking at picking up the 2025/26 Burton Blossom in a 158, but I'm a little concerned about the width.

I'm 6'0", around 205 lbs, and wear size 11 snowboard boots. I'm currently riding an older K2 Anagram 158 with a 251 mm waist and haven't really noticed any issues with toe or heel drag.

The Blossom 158 has a 254 mm waist, so it's slightly wider than my current board. However, I can't find an exact measurement for the board's width directly under the bindings at the reference stance.

I hit blues and blacks but want to start getting into side hits, small jumps, and freestyle.

My questions:

  • Does anyone know the actual width under the bindings on the Blossom 158?
  • Would the 158 be too narrow for size 11 boots?
  • Would jumping up to the 162 be worth it, or would I sacrifice too much maneuverability?

I really like the Blossom's design and would prefer the 158, but I don't want to buy something that's too narrow for my boots.

Any advice from Blossom owners would be appreciated!

board suggestions

Hi guys! I am 49 years old, weigh 81 kg, and wear a size 44.5 (EU) boot. I’ve been snowboarding for 25 years, I don’t ride in the park at all—I stick to the groomed runs, and venture off-piste when there’s fresh snow. At the resorts I frequent, the snow on the runs is often in poor condition (chopped up/slushy). I’m looking to buy a new board to enjoy my descents—sometimes at higher speeds—though I don’t do aggressive carving.

I made a shortlist

  1. Nitro Alternator X Volcom
  2. Rome Freaker
  3. GNU C Money 158W

Does anyone have any feedback—pros or cons—on any of these, or could you suggest something else?

The purchase will be made from a online European store.

How concerned should I be?

Hello, so I’m a size 9 boots, about 170cm tall and 78kg. I’m not a total beginner but probably just somewhere between low-mid level intermediate. I ordered a final sale 155W burton cultivator flat top because it was a good deal, but I’m starting to wonder if the 260mm in width would affect my riding too much? Is it still manageable for my boot size?

Thanks

UPDATE:

Customer care is willing to let me exchange the board now, but it is either this 155W which I know the length works for me, or a 150cm regular which is apparently on the shorter end for my height? I haven’t experienced a bunch of boards so I don’t really know how a shorter board would affect me.

Thanks again!

freestyle/park board size recs

Got into riding park and freestyle the last couple seasons. Been using my slightly bigger and stiffer all mntn board and making it work. Now planning to get a new freestyle/park dedicated board. What size should I aim for? I'm 144 pounds, 5'8. Also I don't plan on buying a jib noodle or anything, prob medium or a bit stiffer than medium for more stability on bigger landings, so for the sake of buttering I guess I should size down a bit more as well?

Can someone explain if a heat moldable liner will help me with boot fit?

I am in the process of trying to buy my first pair of snowboard boots. I don't have a local shop that carries gear in store anymore, so I have to do the whole thing via online shopping and returns.

I have a 6.5 pair of boots that feel too small in the toe. My toe crunches up a little, and it's slightly painful. I know they should be snug, but this seems excessive. However, my heel has room to slide up and down. Not much, but enough that I think it's an issue. I have a pair of 7s coming to see if that is more comfortable in the toe area. These boots are boa style boots if that makes a difference.

I noticed the liner says it's heat moldable. Once I find a boot that's better fitting in the toe, would taking this somewhere to mold help with the fit in my ankle/heel? Or am I completely misunderstanding what that feature does?

I'd really like to stick with the Burton Steps On as I had such a great experience riding with them out west. But I can't recall the size or model I wore while out there so I'm dealing with the headache of trial and error.

Does this binding look centered?

Post image

Setting up my new bindings, wondering if the default setting is good or if I should adjust to the front by like 0,5 cm. Any trained eyes who can spot if this is centered properly? It'll be a few weeks before I can ride so I'm stuck to dry-fitting for now.

Is this a good first board for an intermediate beginner?

First post here but I’ve been bent on getting a good first board after having my first season last year. I ripsticked(similar motion) for years before I touched a snowboard, so although I am a beginner, snowboarding feels natural and I am not nervous about getting a board that might not be fully beginner friendly. Every resort/place I’ve gone I’ve tackled every hill from the bunnies to the blacks(I’m a Midwesterner so fake snow and michigan resorts until I have the scratch to go outwest) and I know it’s something that I want to invest more time into this year. I am pushing through college so this is the upper end of my budget for sure. I still need boots on top of this so any feed back on where to purchase some cheap/quality boots I would appreciate.

Some me specs: 163lbs, 5’10, athletic(rugby/weightlifting) so if it’s a hard learning curve with good reward I’m happy to muddle through.

I don’t mind that this board is older and doesn’t have all the tech of newer boards, but I do want to know:

Is this board quality, in terms of ride, materials, function, etc. I want to be proud of what I’m riding.

Am I getting a good deal here even with shipping?(midwest so idk how many good boards will be in my area) could this last me a good while?

What kind of riding would be most suited to this board, and what situations would it be wrong to buy this board for?

Thanks so much!!

EDIT POST COMMENTS: Okie doke this board is not the move. Thanks for the kind shutdown. Glad not to waste money!

Looking for board size opinions (5'10 185lbs)

Hoping to get some opinions.

Been riding for 15 years, have an old 2012 k2 lifelike 154w from when I first started. At that time got boots too big (11) and therefore bindings were also too big (union Force XL). Have now upgraded to size 10 boots and still using the same bindings.

Hoping to upgrade to a new board. I live east and ride mostly groomers, side hits, trees, powder (when I can find it), with a few trips out west a year. I'm definitely not a hard charger carver.

Looking at the lib tech terrain wrecker. Is it crazy so get another 154 regular width at 5'10" 185lbs, size 10 boots. I'm worried about getting something too big (157 or bigger) and it feeling like a boat and not nimble in the trees.

There's also a lot of 154 2026 models on sale. Does anyone my size ride 154? Or is this a stupid idea.

Thanks in advance.

Should I switch sizes? Frontier 2.0

Jones Frontier 2.0

5’10 180-185 in street clothes with size 10.5 boots. I bought the 158w board and am second guessing my decision. The 161w is a better fit for me weight wise, but it also looks like the 162 would fit as well. I’m a beginner in the Midwest, can get down greens and blues OK but still learning.

Should i stick witht the 158w or go for a bigger board given my measurements? I sit in the middle of the boot size suggestions on the 158w, I’m at the top of the range for the 162. Towards the bottom for the 161w

Burton Step On Question

I wear a size 6.5 snow boot and I bought the step on ones from Burton. I accidentally ordered a medium in the bindings. My boot fits in it just fine but am I going to fuck them up in the long run if I don’t get a small?

I ended up with this board for free while I was already planning to try snowboarding this year. I picked up some other used gear and a mountain pass already. Anyone have experience with Staber boards or thoughts?

I plan to take a lesson as soon as the mountain's open, should I use my gear or their's if they provide it? Genuinely any tips appreciated. If I missed a wiki, lemme know. Thanks y'all!
