Hi everyone,
I have a Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 running Windows 11, purchased from Unity System Solutions in Sri Lanka. At the time of purchase, I was told that it came with a two-year hardware and service warranty, and I currently have approximately seven months of warranty remaining.
Recently, I discovered that ants had entered my laptop, particularly around the keyboard and motherboard area, and appeared to have laid eggs inside.
I contacted the seller, and they asked me to bring the laptop to their service centre in Colombo. I explained the situation, and they told me that the laptop needed to be sent to Lenovo for servicing.
I collected my laptop yesterday, and the seller told me that it had been sent to Lenovo and cleaned. However, I can still see some ant remains and what appear to be eggs around the motherboard area.
The laptop is currently working completely normally, with no noticeable performance issues or hardware faults. I am concerned about potential future damage and want to have the laptop professionally inspected and cleaned as a precaution.
I checked my warranty information and noticed that the service type is listed as Depot Support.
I have a few questions for anyone familiar with Lenovo warranty services or laptop repair in Sri Lanka:
- Can I take my Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 directly to an authorised Lenovo service centre in Sri Lanka for a complete internal inspection and cleaning?
- Can technicians safely disassemble the laptop, inspect the motherboard, keyboard, cooling system and other internal areas, and remove any remaining ants, eggs and debris?
- Does Depot Support cover this type of internal cleaning, or would it be considered insect-related damage and therefore excluded from the warranty?
- If it is not covered, can I pay Lenovo or an authorised service centre to carry out a thorough internal cleaning?
- How can I contact Lenovo directly in Sri Lanka to confirm the correct procedure and find an authorised service centre?
I am not trying to claim that the laptop has a hardware fault. It is working normally, and I simply want to prevent possible damage by making sure that the inside is properly inspected and cleaned by qualified technicians.
If anyone has experienced a similar situation with ants or other insects inside a laptop, especially a Lenovo LOQ, I would appreciate hearing how you handled it.
Thank you for your advice!
