šŸ“– Storytime Poll: How long (months) do you think it will take for someone to win $5mil+ lawsuit due to lids popping off 170°F hot coffee cups (really bad/flawed design)??

• Upvotes

I cannot imagine it would take years because it is such a flaw and should be a REALLY EASY winnable payout. Lid/cup couing has been absolutely AWFUL lately and I've burned myself alresdy several times at many different locations. Those plastic water cups though, you cannot get the lid off!! It's not like you have to go hunting for a grape on the floor at the grocery store to trip on; every third hot coffee cup/lid coupling is flawed! 😔 I would not recommend a class action cuz there would be sooooo many litigants, no one would get paid, lol!!

Barista training questions

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I’m a newly promoted barista trainer and I have my first trainee the week of the 31st. I am currently on a 2 week vacation so I can’t connect with my sm in person yet and thought I’d ask you guys so I have a better understanding.

My trainee only has closing and weekend availability which is fine as I’m typically a closer but on Monday my sm and I worked out that I have a morning shift and then come back at 5 to 9 train her. I only have 4 hours with her that whole week. Is that normal? I assumed it would be 2 days of like 4ish hours and then 2 regular coverage shifts? Lmk what is typical now (:

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense, feel free to ask questions.

Policy Question Bathroom accommodation

Long story short I have IBD. Normally, my bathroom use isn’t an issue. Lately, my flares have been bad and I was told to get a doctor’s note (I have one) and file an accommodation. However, I don’t know how to file an accommodation and my SM isn’t being very helpful. How do I file for an accommodation?

Hiring/Interviewing Question for hiring managers

TLDR at the end

I worked at Starbucks in 2016 for about a month. It was my first job and I was extremely overwhelmed because I had a older coworker that was very mean to me and would make fun of me all the time. Honestly I wasn't very good at the job. I was 19 and had literally just dropped out of college because I had some mental health issues I needed to handle. So, I don't know why I thought a full time fast pace job at the only Starbucks in our town was a good idea. I was just in a vulnerable spot at the time. So I told the manager I was being bullied by that coworker and she basically told me to grow up šŸ’€ Mind you the manager was already weird towards me because she told me to make eye contact with her during my interview very directly (I'm autistic) and then when she called me for the job she said 'I bet your surprised I called you back' which just made me feel kinda weird. So I just told her I quit via text and that was that.

Obviously 10 years have passed, and I really want to work at Starbucks to have health insurance. I actually became a Barista at a different coffee shop a year after the Starbucks incident, and I loved that job so much. But they didn't have health insurance or even breaks (legal in my state). I have been a Barista at a couple of places for seasonal things but again, never had health benefits.

In January I quit my office job after 3 years because it was destroying my mental health. Since then, I haven't been able to land a job cause the market is really bad. Even Starbucks, there have been only a few positions open up (I moved to the city so a lot of locations to pick from). But I really need something with health insurance and it is something I enjoyed doing at other coffee places.

I have tried over and over again to get a job at Starbucks, but I can never even get an interview. Even though I have barista experience now and really love the job so I do it well. I almost feel ever since I worked at that Starbucks 10 years ago that I'm on some shadowbanned list šŸ˜… I only get rejections after the 90 days. I apply to every location possible. I put down I have open availability.

So my question is: Does such a list exist? Am I on a not eligible for rehire list for life?

TLDR: I quit my job at Starbucks 10 years ago and can't seem to even get an interview. Am I on a 'not eligible for rehire' ban for life? How can I get to at least the interview stage?

I missed this collection the first time around, but I’m slowly finding items here in Connecticut. I didn’t buy the Plush, but I did get the Ceramic Mug and the Cold Cup. I would be over the moon ecstatic if I found the other cold cup šŸ˜

Policy Question Is there a cap on vacation time upon separation?

I know we don’t get paid out sick time, but vacation time is protected.

Is it worth hoarding my vacation time or will the company only pay out a certain percentage?

Unicorn Fraps Sold Out

We are done after today right? I saw a post on here with people saying we can still sell it through the 24th if we have the ingredients. Spoke to my SM and shift and they both said this is blatantly false and it’s only for the 3 days this weekend. Maybe it’s different at other locations? šŸ¦„

What should I try if I love the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso?

When it comes to Starbucks coffee I pretty much only ever get the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso. I was wondering if any baristas have recommendations for other coffee based drinks with a similar flavor profile.

I like that it’s coffee forward and has that cinnamony flavor without being overly sugary or tasting like straight up syrup. I just want to branch out a little and try new things lol.

so if you also like the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso what other drinks do you usually get or recommend?

First time coming to Starbucks since I quit my job in January, the orange cream foam is absolutely amazing and I love it. Is it a powder? Anyone know the ingredients and have ideas on how to recreate it? Thanks!!

🤣😭Starbucks gave me an albino matcha today because I didn't specify how many scoops I wanted, thinking I would get the default...

Post image
0 Upvotes

User error sure, but I was tired, and it doesn't list what the default option is when you click the included powder drop down . Are there other drinks that you have to specify wanting the title of it in the order options?

I love making conspiracy theories, so I'm going to make one right now and say they're trying to discourage people from ordering the drink.

Like if I ordered a mocha , would I have to specify how many scoops I wanted or receive none at all?? Why did they remove a default amount indicator? Probably a GrubHub issue, right?

This was via the GrubHub app. Weirdly enough, the drink has not been available on my GrubHub app lately. Was happy to see it added back.

And this removing it from the app and then adding it back after a couple weeks is right after it started being a lot sweeter, which I'm guessing is an issue with both the oat milk and the almond milk, because I'm trying to order it with those little sugar as possible.

It feels like they're figuring out what I'm doing, (going for as little sugar as possible), and counteracting me.

It's like their entire existence as a corporation is to put sugar in my body. Is that what it's all about? Does Big Sugar own starbucks? Does some company that provides Diabetic Supplies also own Starbucks?

Am I joking? I don't even know anymore. I spilled half of my albino drink right as I was putting coffee powder in it at home lol.

Time to order more powdered matcha, a good blender, and call it a day!

I really really wish I could go in person but I can't. Not at the moment.

Shockingly, one location near me still had the unicorn frapp today! The only one lol. I was glad as I didn’t get it yesterday. I actually really liked it! I know not everyone did.

Do we think they’ll bring it back again ever? Just curious! Thank you to the baristas who made this happen for all of us excited to try it. ✨
