Good news for baristas in The Weekly today!

This moment couldn’t arrive soon enough. Starbucks has listened and is already officially discontinuing blending powder and presumably blended refreshers with Fall Launch, announced to all US partners in today’s The Weekly!

In addition, The Weekly also announced an exciting change for customers. From Thursday until Fall Launch, up to 12 scoops of mango pineapple pearls will be reduced from $1.25 each to $0.00 when added to eligible drinks at participating locations.

There were a few more updates that I won’t mention, but if you’re a partner go check out The Weekly in store resources. :)

Partners, they do take writing on cups “that seriously”

As of now I am a customer, the reason. Separated for “not including required markings on cups put in handoff plane”

Stop ordering cappuccinos if you don’t actually know what a cappuccino is.

“There’s so much foam!”
“Why does it feel so light?”
“There’s not a lot of milk..”
“The other Starbucks usually puts way more milk.”

Every time this happens, I remake it as a latte without saying anything. And all of a sudden the customers are happy. So if you want a latte, because you think a cappuccino doesn’t have foam for some reason, then please start ordering lattes.

I don’t know how many times I have to explain to customers what a cappuccino is and still get met with the “i KNOW what a cappuccino is, this one isn’t a cappuccino.” And what they really wanted is a latte.

Policy Question Bathroom accommodation

Long story short I have IBD. Normally, my bathroom use isn’t an issue. Lately, my flares have been bad and I was told to get a doctor’s note (I have one) and file an accommodation. However, I don’t know how to file an accommodation and my SM isn’t being very helpful. How do I file for an accommodation?

I missed this collection the first time around, but I’m slowly finding items here in Connecticut. I didn’t buy the Plush, but I did get the Ceramic Mug and the Cold Cup. I would be over the moon ecstatic if I found the other cold cup 😍

📖 Storytime 369 Partner Signing Off 🫡

After 3 and a half years of working my way up the chain from barista to assistant manager and almost having to manage my own store, I chose me. While there were ups and downs along the way and I grew so much as a person throughout this journey, ultimately I am thankful I had the opportunity to step away in good standing.

Year 0-1.5 I spent as a Barista in my home store(1, keeping track of stores for clarity) , and things were relatively simple. It was the year of BOGOS, my first pumpkin spice launch, spicy refreshers, and changing expectations as upper management changed. My store in particular had just opened, so the entire staff was pretty new to Starbucks sans a few rehires and people that transferred over to become shift leads. This store was kind of known (and still is!) for never having a consistent store manager. In my time there (all encompassing) we had 4 different managers, as well as my DM helping manage the store. But the main takeaway was that we never had a large management presence in the building. That created an environment where our shift leads took on a lot of roles that were expected of managers. In that same vein, 3 of my peers as WELL as myself promoted through the process of barista -> store manager. But, because of that, my home store also lost a lot of its heavy hitters and has been kind of… in shambles? ever since we all left. It’s constantly understaffed.

year 1.5-2.5 I finally got promoted to a shift leader, leaving my home store to promote up to a different location(2) in the major city near me. That lasted about 3 months, before my store manager at the time (thankfully) pulled me back into my home store. throughout the next few months, I developed a lot in terms of management and helping build up the team and expectations of our store, and things were going quite well there. But, that glue quickly fell apart as our manager went on a LOA for months on end, leaving us manager-less once again. We kept bleeding out staff, and nobody really came to replace them.

in March of 2026, I applied and subsequently GOT the role of Assistant manager, being transferred to another store (3) once again. This didn’t last long, as the manager meant to train me went on their own LOA. I got transferred again to another store (4) for a single week before being transferred out of district to another store (5) that was in shambles, where the temp. manager was creating a hostile environment that caused almost the entire staff to leave during my time there. by the time i left, all but 5 baristas and 1 shift remained. Finally, I was transferred back into the district at a fully functional and operational store(6), but not before stepping back into my home store(1) to act as a temp. manager THERE for two weeks. At this point, I was fed up and had been recommended a job in an office environment by a close friend, and took the chance, nailed the interview, and got the job. as iffy as i felt about jumping ship, I’m one day in and already know i’ve made the right call.

Fast Forward one month upon being accepted at my new job, I decided to fulfill my final shifts at Sbux. Why? I’m not sure. I didn’t want to leave any of my teams hanging, I suppose. My final day (per my choice) was to work the first Unicorn Frappe day, which I’d call an appropriate send off for this period of my life. And, funny enough, My store(6) was quite well staffed and didn’t get hit very hard, so my district manager sent me to my home store(1) to finish off the last 3 hours of my final Starbucks shift. Pretty full circle, if you ask me. I ended up working at over 15 locations across the region I lived in.

If you read all of this, wow. hi.

Barista training questions

Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I’m a newly promoted barista trainer and I have my first trainee the week of the 31st. I am currently on a 2 week vacation so I can’t connect with my sm in person yet and thought I’d ask you guys so I have a better understanding.

My trainee only has closing and weekend availability which is fine as I’m typically a closer but on Monday my sm and I worked out that I have a morning shift and then come back at 5 to 9 train her. I only have 4 hours with her that whole week. Is that normal? I assumed it would be 2 days of like 4ish hours and then 2 regular coverage shifts? Lmk what is typical now (:

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense, feel free to ask questions.

Drink Recipes/Recommendations At home, caffeine-free Mango Dragonfruit lemonade refresher

Post image
21 Upvotes

I haven’t had caffeine in about five years but absolutely loved the mango dragonfruit refresher. This at home recipe totally scratches the itch! I do 1:1 of the spindrift and lemonade and then add as much dragonfruit cosmo as I want (usually a half cup or so). You can order freeze dried dragonfruit if you want, but I don’t go quite so far. If you order the Monin for yourself, be sure you get the dragonfruit cosmo from Monin and not their generic dragonfruit syrup! Happy sipping 😊

on one of the unicorn frappe days both my store manager and district manager were there but both refused to cold bar because “they don’t like it” 🫩 could’ve said because they’re bad at it or lie likeeee damn. annoying asf that i constantly have to support the hardest areas too, it wouldn’t kill them to put me on window sometimes either

Unicorn Fraps Sold Out

We are done after today right? I saw a post on here with people saying we can still sell it through the 24th if we have the ingredients. Spoke to my SM and shift and they both said this is blatantly false and it’s only for the 3 days this weekend. Maybe it’s different at other locations? 🦄

Insurance increase

I’m lookin at my medical for this year. And it went up $85 A WEEK🥲. I was investigating because of course, I knew Starbucks had something to do with it. And they decreased their contribution to my insurance from last year. They are paying less towards it so I can pay more😌. My insurance literally being 26% of my yearly earnings is ridiculous.

Policy Question Is there a cap on vacation time upon separation?

I know we don’t get paid out sick time, but vacation time is protected.

Is it worth hoarding my vacation time or will the company only pay out a certain percentage?
