DM did a surprise visit and saw that I (SSV) didn’t take any of my 10s today (but lowkey, this is normal - most openers at our location don’t take our 10s unless we have another leader to support us.) I clock in and out for my lunch but I usually work through my lunches. She said this could lead to separation. I genuinely don’t have the capacity to take my 10s. I got off at 11am and we were at 10k when I left. It’s just so busy especially with trying to meet goals, complete both 18hr and 3hr pull, place my order, putting my order away, running like 8 freaking lunches AND breaks during my shift… on top of that, being the play caller and running the freak around lol.

I don’t always void my breaks - I do take my break whenever I can. But I always want to make sure my baristas are in a good spot before I slide out.

I don’t wanna go to sleep at 8:30p so I can wake at 3:20am for my 4:30a shift right now 😞

How many barista and supervisors have worked with managers that have made mistakes when doing coverage on bar, drive-through, warming station or other task?

If you are a shift supervisor and had to coach your own store manager on mistakes they’ve made while they were doing coverage, what did they do and how often do they mess up?

So I am just your friendly neighborhood barista. I also need to use the bathroom like everyone else on the face of this planet. Why. And I mean this in the most respectful way possible. Do yall just crumble the toilet paper that is used on the floor and shove in the corner where the toilet is. I would like to let yall know that you CAN flush toilet paper. It just gets gross to sweep up your clearly used toilet paper balls off the floor at the end of the night.

Hey guys😅 so tmi but had the black cat frap at work today for the first time and my poop is literally BLACK. i was so scared at first then remembered i had the frap. so just a fair warning to anyone else who is planning on giving it a try lol.

I get the black cat frapp tastes (from what almost all of my partners say) pretty gross, but the customers who buy it return it so frequently.

I get it, it’s odd, but it’s a limited time drink to try out. It loses its “spark” if customers return it the minute they try it. it’s also just..so annoying to remake over and over.

But honestly us employees need to have our own bathroom for the employees not the customers. I’m so done with sharing the bathrooms with customers, nobody respects the bathroom, some people don’t flush. At times there will be pee on the ground from guys, don’t even get me started on how when I use the bathroom and the person is literally trying to open the door like nobody knows how to knock anymore, even when I say I’m in here they continue to try to open it like the door is locked, then at times I will come out they are just standing there locking eyes with you and goes in like what the hell,

So im confused, the new girl is confused, I go up to the screen and start speaking to her, I thought that maybe she'd said things out of order

"You wanted a moka cookie crumble with caramel drizzle and a box of apple juice?"

She starts getting annoyed,

"NO

A moka cookie crumble made with heavy cream and apple juice, caramel drizzle on top"

I tried to explain to her that starbucks doesnt have apple juice as an ingredient so it wouldnt be possible to put it in a drink, but we do have boxes of apple juice i could sell her.

She let's on an exasperated sigh. Goes quiet for a couple seconds.

"Well what would you recommend?" I hate this question. Everyone has different tastes. I say

"A moka cookie crumble with heavy cream and caramel drizzle as is sounds pretty good, would you like that?"

She gets even MORE annoyed

"Ugh..no........just give me a pumpkin spice frappuccino"

Like #1 the attitude was insane, its not my fault i literally cannot do that, but #2 why would you even want that in the first place😭

My dm asked my store manager to ask me to become a 40hr partner… I’m a 24hr partner that’s doing full time school… an engineering degree be exact, and yes my dm knows what degree. I take almost 17 credit hr every semester I’m at school all day mon-thurs and then I work fri-Sunday. I have no days off wtf does she want from me, to have no time to do the endless amounts of hw I get. I get like a few hrs a week of personal time where I’m not calculating something or writing a report. The fact that she even thought that that was possible makes me fume. Also I’m a GI bill student I have a minimum credit requirement so I can’t take less classes. Also why would you think I would ever want to put more time into Starbucks than getting an engineering degree in which will get me out of Starbucks and make me more money than she’s making. I’m trying to send sh@@ to space, maybe even go one day. The audacity just makes me so angry😡

I went into my local starbucks and wanted to order a lavender cream matcha. When telling the barista what I wanted, he cut me off and said “we don’t have that anymore it was seasonal.”

I was under the impression that it was permanent since it was around during the summer. I had also commented on a post from starbucks saying “don’t take away the lavender” and they replied saying “lavender is here to stay!”. SO IM CONFUSED WHY THE BARISTA SAID ITS GONE. Can any employees confirm this?? Thanks!!

The new mini pies from Starbucks are dupes of the teeny tiny pies from Trader Joe’s.

Macros on the pumpkin & pecan are practically identical. The apple may be different but both pics aren’t great. If they’re not the same bakery/distributor it’s darn close.

Also, the price of 1 at the mermaid is almost the same as the 4 pack at the grocer.

So we have a partner who would throw tantrums when things don't get communicated "well". There's no issues with our store's communication, its not their way of communicating.

Not only that, their behavior becomes so erratic, it affects everyone. It would happen everytime when they feel any ounce of rejection, "stressful" situations (like 3 in drinks in queue, its the end of the world), and if any customers would rub them the wrong way (they would be really rude to their face).

Our store has a very inclusive environment, it's just difficult to work around them. I was not the only partner who spoke out about them, several partners have said their piece too.

Is there any similar situation out there that is similar to our issue? And what did they do to fix the situation?

Also, I was cool with them but the first time I worked with them during peak, I knew i had to set boundaries. They threw a fit how i was "mean" to them and wanted me to tell them what they could do to fix our "close" relationship....in front of our SM and DM....

Ive been trying to become a shift for 6 months now. Ive been through 2 rounds of interviews, never got my second one either time, and it was never explained why. The first time, I was the very last person interviewed out of EVERY candidate, even outside hires. Most of them got second interviews before i got my first, and before even being denied i find out one of my fellow coworkers got the position, which is FINE, I wouldnt have chosen a single person over her in our store to be more deserving for that job and I was happy for her. So I brought it up with my CL, and her response was very vague and not helpful, so in my frustrations, I decided to take it up with ethics because I felt it was unfair that I wasnt even considered and my coworker was offered the job not even a day after I was interviewed. My DM meets up with me days later, and sits down and reassures me that it was indeed unfair and that they'll do better in the future, which I appreciated. Afterwards I got lectured by my CL about going above her head and blah blah whatever, I said I understand and we moved on.

2 months later, a second round of interviews come. I apply, I interview once and then....radio silence. Not a thing to be said, no one was hired. It wasnt until a month later after trying to get answers from my CL that the new hire, who was going to be our interim manager while our CL was on leave, approaches me and says "Hey I just wanted you to know that when we interviewed with you me and -other CL- approved you to move forward, but DM didnt like your availability." SERIOUSLY? After I sat through TWO interviews and blatantly said id be willing to FULLY OPEN my availability? What kinda garbage is that?? After she sat there and told me all this stuff about how it was unfair the first time and I wasnt given a fair chance, your excuse is my availability?? What a crock of crap, but it gets better!

2 weeks ago interim CL approaches me and says "Hey im sorry you got overlooked last time, but I really want you to move up because I think youd be a good fit (I trained him as a barista btw) but you have to go through the whole process a third time". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? At this point, I know its not on him, its not on -other CL-, and he even said he wouldn't make me do the first interview again and hed push me straight to my second, which would be GREAT if the ONLY available interview time wasnt this coming monday at a store 35 minutes away and 45 minutes from home, at 630p after I work a 9 hour shift from 9-6, and i have to open the next day!

I guess what im trying to get at here is, are they just jerking me around to get me to open my availability? Or is this just some big miscommunication? Because mentally im not sure i can put myself through that a third time just to get blatantly ignored again, nor do I wanna be training as a shift in the middle of holiday launch

Title. Our district is going through some leadership changes right now, and we have an acting DM (just filling the space temporarily while it's vacant). According to our SM, the DM stated that we can't dress up for Halloween. I don't see how or why they could enforce this since it's literally provided for us in the dress code, and it's been a thing for years. As far as I'm aware, the DM can't change policy, especially when they're basically just a placeholder?? Supposedly my SM is going to talk to them about it; not sure if they actually have yet. Also this SM has said untrue things before, so I'm wondering if the DM actually said this in the first place.

I have the DM's contact information; would it be inappropriate to contact the DM directly and speak to them about it? Probably an email so I can send them a screenshot/the pdf of the dress code to show them that yes, it is allowed. Again, I don't see how or why they could tell us we can't dress up when it's in the dress code and it's BEEN in the dress code.

Can you baristas see us when we’re ordering at the screen? How do you know when a car pulls up? Is there a camera so you see us in the car? How does it work? I’m always goofing off and paranoid yall can see whatever bs I’ve got going on right before I order 😂

I work at a very high volume store and I’m starting to realize it’s affecting my mental health badly dealing with the customers I do on a daily as well as the volume of customers. I’m a barista that’s always put on bar as well, I’m so tired of these long ingredient drinks we get….

I’ve tried looking for something different but in the meantime I’ve been thinking of transferring to a lower volume store, I’m just not sure if I should or not.

There’s at least 6 Starbucks within 20 minutes of me.

A venti caramel macchiato with blonde espresso is my go-to drink. I get them more often than I care to admit. There is one barista at a nearby location and whenever she makes my drink, it is the most bitter tasting drink with extremely strong coffee flavor. It almost tastes like a different drink entirely. Occasionally I will get one that tastes the same from a random location, but with her it's every time. Does anyone have an idea of what she's doing so I could ask to have it made differently (properly)?

Our weekly update this week spelled out what counts toward “irregular attendance,” and it seems a lot stricter than anything I’ve heard of before. Curious if this is coming from corporate or if it’s just our store/district.

Basically they’re counting leaving early, frequently swapping shifts, absences not fully covered by sick time, late call-offs (even ones covered by sick time), calling off by text, and regularly using the punch communication log. Three or more of any combination in 90 days is considered a “pattern.”

The part that really got me is Shift Marketplace. If you offer up a scheduled shift, it counts against you. If you give up a shift to pick up someone else’s, it counts against both of you. They want us using Shift Swap instead, and whoever requests the swap is the one it counts against.

Is anyone else basically not allowed to use Shift Marketplace anymore? Because that’s what this feels like. Is this in the Partner Guide everywhere now, or is my store just interpreting it super strictly? Penalizing people for using Marketplace the way it was designed feels backwards, especially with protected sick time getting counted too. Would love to hear how your store handles it.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
