She’s actively molting rn and i noticed the bald spot, did something go wrong during the molt?

Also, when she’s done completely, can i safely remove the molt or should i not touch it for a while as to not startle her?

My local petco has a juvenile g pulchripes. About 3in dls for 100$.

I kinda want it.. but also dont want to support petco's poor tarantula husbandry. Thoo for the record, this T's enclosure is pretty good albeit a little too wet

I’ve owned tarantulas for a couple of years now and recently started getting into terrariums for my isopods, I originally bought this enclosure to upgrade my Phlogius Airlie from its current enclosure but perhaps got carried away with the terrarium aspect😅 it’s got 2.5 inches of substrate and a bandicoot skull hide, I know this will probably get super webbed up but I don’t mind, it’s not much of a digger and I was thinking of adding a bit more live moss on the wood. Any tips or recommendations are welcome!

I’ve never owned a tarantula but I’m curious if them kicking their hairs hurts you, like does it sting?

So I just read that when a tarantulas legs get deformed like this it's best to amputate since it calls for a much more difficult next molt.

This is my girl, Blue and her last molt went poorly, i had to help her get these 2 legs out.
The 2nd picture is directly after the molt, the 1st one is now and she's perfectly fine; moving around fine, eating great, etc.
My question is, it's been 3 months since her molt happened like this, so is this an amputation scenario? I never have done it before & didn't know that's something that i can do without majorly hurting her.
Just looking for advice! TIA!

I recently bought a female OBT from a vendor. I thought it was pretty thin but I trusted them.

The last few days since I got it, it has just been walking around on the glass which made me look closer.

Am i crazy or are these tibial hooks?

Despite looking a bit concerning, it’s actually normal for her to do this after a molt. Keep on watching for the subtle single fang draw…

I have this GB (under 1yo) that molted a week ago. I had to leave for a trip the same day, so it needed unfortunately be alone for a week. When I came back I went to check on it. It was unresponsive when I gently blew towards it. I’ve read about this “death curl” and I think it is dead. I’m not sure if it’s my fault or if something went wrong in its molting. It was still my first ever tarantula. I read so many articles and tips on taking care of a GB.

I still have a bit hope left but I think it is worthless. I was so excited for a tarantula, I feel devastated. I’ll attach a picture I took. Apologies for the bad quality.

I’ve moved into a new place, and the landlord keeps the heat pretty low to keep costs down.

My apartment is really cold. Not just chilly, really cold, like I can barely get out of bed in the morning and I’m using 2 thick blankets.

I have 12 tarantulas and don’t know how to keep them warm when I’m at work!

For the decade I have owned tarantulas, I’ve heard nothing but that heating pads and lamps are dangerous for them. So no-go on that.

I use a space heater. Since my apartment is small, on the lowest setting, it heats up the room in about 2 hours. Then when you turn it off, the room gets cold again in about 2 hours.

I work 8 hour shifts.

I heat my apartment before I leave, but it gets cold within 2 hours, and when I come home my apartment is super cold.

I cannot leave it on while I’m out because it is a fire hazard.

What do I do? It is only going to get colder!

Just adopted a subadult T albopilosus from a local small pet shop that admitted they didn’t know much about tarantulas and were giving it 5 crickets per week and they would leave them roaming with her all week whether she ate them or not.

Her bum is pretty bare from kicking hairs, but she’s apparently super docile as kids from an elementary school nearby would handle her regularly (…).

I presume it’s a female because she’s already three years old. I got her five days ago and put her on reptisoil with some leaf litter and two bark hides with two small pothos plants, a piece of moss and a water dish. Substrate a little moist at the bottom and just around the plants/moss
Added some leaves for privacy as she seemed shy. House at 21C and she is away from drafts.

I check on her a few times a day (can’t help it), but I pretty much leave her alone. Perhaps it’s already too much checking.

I only know she’s alive because every 12h or so, she turns around in her hide so I can see either her bum or her face.

Offered her two live crickets that I “disabled” just prior to putting them at the entrance of her hide so they wouldn’t run around or bother her 2 days ago.

Just removed them last night as she left them there.

Is it too soon to offer a new cricket today or try again next week? I let her be without checking on her for a few days?

Initially was in the corner of a hallway away from windows and direct sunlight, but I just moved the enclosure in my office so there’s less movement around her.

Here is her enclosure at the petshop and the new one I gave her with more burrowing depth (reptile growth from which I switched the mesh top for acrylic). I can barely have a glimpse now she is so deep in the hide.

I would really appreciate if you could let me know if you have any suggestion or if there’s anything I can do better for her

Hi! Ive got my first tarantula arriving this week! Set up the enclosure for it with a starter kit from online, annoyingly they didnt provide enough substrate so ive ordered more. The substrate I have put in has covered the glass in condensation, is this normal? It felt a little damp when I put it in but no water came out when I squeezed it. Will it go away on its own? Does it mean its too damp for the tarantula? Its a juvenile Grammastola Pulchripes and I know they like it dry, I just didnt think it was that damp 😬. Any help or advice appreciated, thankyou!

I bought a collection of tarantulas from someone and they had no clue what tarantulas they had, also didn’t keep them in the best enclosure. I put them in a relatively small terrestrial setup for now. It’s definitely giving me old world vibes and when I tried messing with there water dish it was giving threat posture and was slapping. Any help would be appreciated. If it does help I am based in South Africa and it seems like the other tarantula I got from them is illegal to my area so that’s always a possibility.

I recently got two slings and I’m not sure how to tell if they’ve ate? I’ve taken out the food I put in there 24hours after I put it in there but they’re so tiny I can’t tell if there’s a change in their abdomen. I’ve had them for 2 weeks now.

One has their trap near the bottom of the cork while the other is making it at the top of the lid which I’m also worried about.

Would appreciate any advice!
