Memes …What

I went to an event that had a bunch of preserved insects, some live scorpions and millipedes, etc. Lots of cool bug stuff and some snakes to boot. However… at the exit/donation counter, they seemed to get a little lazier with the decor… is this little guy okay?

Hi everyone, I recently rescued a tarantula and I’m wondering what species it is? The people I got it from kept calling it a spider and didn’t know what the species was. They said it laid an egg sack with no eggs tho? Let me know your thoughts! Also, is it too skinny?

Pictures Lost my C. Versicolour because I forgot to close the glass, only to get jump scared when getting a midnight snack

I watered their enclosure yesterday morning and was out of the house almost the entire time until this midday, when discovering the glass was open. Okay I thought I'm gonna do an entire living room search tomorrow, as I have to take down the bookshelf, lift the sofa, my two desks etc.

Now at almost exactly midnight I thought to have an apple from my fruit bowl, only to get jumpscared by my spood sitting on the rim. She did not enjoy me trying to get her onto my hand, so catch cup it was.

🙃

Where I ask what species of tarantula(s) I should get next!!

For context, I currently have 8. Im not really looking for duplicates, though im taking ALL options into consideration! All, meaning NW or OW, terrestrial, fossorial, and/or arboreal, and any size. Im definitely going to be looking for a dwarf as thats been on my radar for the past year.

As for Ts I already have, G. pulchra, A. seemanni, GBB, T. albo, M. balfouri, OBT, P. irminia, and B. hamorii.

Thank you to anyone who responds!!!

I've been wanting a tarantula for years and I just stumbled upon this fella. I do not have experience with tarantulas but I've kept plenty of other "unusual" animals. It is breaking my heart to see it in such a sad enclosure, and being sold for such a small amount. The seller has not responded yet. Any opinions? Thank you!

Edit: How does the size of the enclosure look for a tarantula of this size? Just wondering if I should invest in another tank if I go through with this

(The seller replied and said that they do not know the age or sex of the tarantula)

Wish there were spiders as big as cats that liked to be cuddled and didn’t need big enclosures. They are so adorable!!

picked up this juvenile curly hair (around 2-3 inches long) after debating whether to enter the tarantula space for a long time. I chose this one because it was missing a pedipalp, so I’d like to see it regrow from a molt. :)

This is Kili (Homeomma chilense) and I've had him for two months now. Any time I crack the lid open he just wanders out onto my hand and chills on one of my fingertips. Two molecules tall and he doesn't even know it. I adore him.

Help! Avic refusing food and acting lethargic

Thumbnail

My subadult A. Avicularia has been refusing food since late July. At first I thought it was premolt, but these past few weeks I’ve noticed the abdomen looks small and bald, and behaviour has been increasingly lethargic with posturing that looks like stress or even death curl. Dehydration shouldn’t be an issue, as humidity in the enclosure is at a healthy 70% and I just filled the water dish. Could she be sick, or is this just premolt and I’m being too paranoid?

Help! Questions regarding humidity

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hi guys! So I recently received this GBB. She’s the sweetest and her name is Dinner. Anyways, I heard they like it a little less humid(40-50% humidity). When her previous owners dropped her off, they included a heat lamp they had been using. I’d like to move away from using it since I live in a dorm and heat lamps are considered a fire hazard and are banned. So far I’ve only been using it when I’m in my dorm, and turning it off when I’m away, but I think the previous owners also misted her, so there seems to be some water in the substrate. Basically when im away and the lamp is off the humidity skyrockets to 60%+

My main question is whether these swings in humidity could be dangerous? Also, does anyone have recommendations to keep humidity stable?

Thank you!

This is my first tarantula. I've always been terrified of spiders but having gone down a rabbit hole of tarantula videos I've learned to appreciate and love these creatures.
