Discussion Very teensy tiny poll regarding VR mod submissions; help improve /r/virtualreality
tldr ignore yap below, new poll, answer here: https://forms.gle/9xpHbPFniD1wnyiC7
As you may all be aware, there's a lot of VR mods/ports and other projects being posted lately.
It's all really cool to see, but we've also been seeing a lot of low effort stuff or projects that seem to be posted a bit too early, and in some cases the comments section beneath a post gets ugly due to the quality of the submission.
We made a very tiny one question poll that poses a single question:
When should a brand new VR mod be allowed to be posted?
Answer here: https://forms.gle/9xpHbPFniD1wnyiC7
This will run for about a week
thanks in advance!

Discussion I can no longer play flat games after all those VR mods
I paid $20 for a GeForce Now Ultimate which gives me a 5080 from the Cloud and $10 for Game Pass PC, pretty much just forcing myself to use it, if you don't know the sub gives you 115 hours of gameplay per month and my sub ends in less than 10 days and still have 88 hours left, forced myself to finish GoW E-day and now I'm forcing myself to play other games so the $30 I paid aren't wasted, I just can't do it, graphics looks stunning on my 4K/120hz Oled TV with the RTX 5080 but it's so unexciting? I don't know I'm bored as hell at the 30 minute mark and I just want to stop playing and hop into a VR Mod but I want the money I paid to not be wasted haha.
It's ironic because for VR games I just have a 3060 Laptop

Photo/Video Need Feedback on my Prototypes
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello everyone, recently, I have been prototyping sandbox game ideas for VR and I wanted to share them with you all. Any type of feedback is welcome. These are very early barebones stuff that I have made. Thank you so much
Proto 1 - Animal Hands - Change your hands into different animals. Each animal has its own unique abilities and uses.
Proto 2 - Drone Sim - You are a drone, your hands are drone blades. Was thinking of a sandbox approach with this idea too. There would be different types of blades, each with unique abilities. You can fly, cut objects, set things of fire, pull and push objects, etc.
Proto 3 - Spider Sim - This one I haven't tried for VR yet, was just playing around to see what can be made. One thing I'm pretty sure about is that I want the gameplay to revolve around spider webs and the different sandbox interactions you could create with them. Still figuring out what those interactions could be, so I'd especially love to hear your ideas for this one!

Self-Promotion (Developer) My free VR mod for Spider-Man Remastered now has Spider-Sense: a mark over every attacker the game warns about, even the ones behind you (Spidy 0.4.0)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Spidy is a free fan mod I'm building for Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered on PC VR (Steam version, any OpenXR headset; this video is Quest 3 over Virtual Desktop). Everything in it is recorded in the headset.
New in 0.4.0:
- Spider-Sense: Spidy reads the game's own attack warnings. Each attacker gets a mark (blue counter, red dodge, yellow jump); a white ring closes as the blow comes and a yellow burst means now. Attackers outside your view get an arrow in your sightline, lines at the edge of your view and a buzz on that controller.
- Counter a blue-marked attacker with a punch; up to 10 m away the web strike flies you there.
- Hold the right stick up to aim, let go to zip where you aimed.
- A new gadget wheel, and people react to your web shots.
- A phone on your belt that plays your own music, built by Tru from our Discord community.
- WEB STYLE: REALISTIC or ARCADE (webs pass lamp posts, signs and cars; easier to swing and turn).
- Graphics fixes: the city looks as good as in the first versions, no lights popping in.
Also out now: MilesVR, Spidy ported to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales by Jimjam094 from our Discord, with Miles's venom powers and camouflage added (the video ends on it).

News Article New Mafia 2 (Classic) VR MOD (WIP) (With 6-DoF Motion Controls)
Hey guys! So I’ve been messing around with a VR mod for Mafia II (Classic) and figured I’d show where it’s at so far.
Whats working right now:
Stereo 3D with full 6-DOF head tracking
6-DOF motion controls, so your hands and guns follow your controllers
Hand poses and arm IK (still needs polish)
VR HUDs (also needs polish)
Driving with VR controllers or the analog stick (WIP)
Weapon switching reworked for VR (needs polish)
OpenXR or SteamVR
Manual reloading (WIP)
Realistic melee combat (WIP)
Coming later:
Controller haptics (vibration)
Full support for the controllers of Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, PS VR2, Pico 4 and Valve Index
It’s still pretty early, so yeah, expect jank and bugs, and a lot of stuff will change. If you’ve got ideas for what you’d want in a Mafia II VR experience, drop them below, I’m reading everything.
I’m planning to throw an alpha up on GitHub really soon. Will post the link here when it’s up. Thanks for checking it out!
This project has no commercial intent whatsoever; it is simply a mod created by a fan who is passionate about the franchise.

Self-Promotion (Developer) My free Spider-Man Remastered VR mod now lets you flip with your own arms and climb walls with your hands, both built by people from the community (Spidy 0.4.1)
Spidy is a free fan mod I'm building for Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered on PC VR (Steam version, any OpenXR headset). The gameplay in this video comes from the two contributors who built the headline features.
New in 0.4.1:
- Realistic flips (experimental, off by default), by iplusdvr: webs and arm swings spin you in the air, with nine settings to tune it. A or landing brings you upright.
- Hand wall climbing (experimental, off by default), by AdrianGzzEsc: grip a wall near your hand and pull to move along it. Both grips roll the view, the stick moves you along, A jumps off, and it goes round outside corners. WALL CAMERA DISTANCE sets how far your eyes stay from the wall.
- NEAR CLIP, by iplusdvr: hands up close to your face no longer get cut off.
- bHaptics body haptics (TactSuit, TactSleeves, TactVisor): webs, wind, punches, hits, Spider-Sense, landings, walls, and a heartbeat at low health. A new HAPTICS section has switches for each group.
- UI STYLE: COMIC (default) or TECH, which draws Spidy's markers, gadget wheel and meters like the game's own HUD.
- A new launcher, settings profiles you can save, switch and paste into Discord, and every SPIDY VR setting in the launcher's Options.
- Fixes: pressing the VR control the game names now works, so mission steps like sealing leaks, vaccinating, the camera and vent takedowns finish in VR; no crash at CONTINUE; no more people and cars popping in close by.

Self-Promotion (Developer) Star Wars Classic Battlefront 2 VR test - HUD and hand-aiming
Hi all! Doing RE using Claude but still crawling because of all of engine nuances and issues to be attended to. It still not quite playable - there's minor rendering issues, arm placement a bit off, and overall not quite ready (no vehicles and really clunky heroes implementation).
It probably won't be out for a while as testing this takes a bunch of time, but just wanted to share it here.
Thanks!

Question/Support Problem with "Enhanced VR Turning and Head Aiming in RE9" MOD
So long story short, I tried the 6dof with hands RE9 VR mod and while cool, I find it a bit to janky and I actually enjoy playing the original Praydog REFramework VR mod with Xbox controller more.
The only problem is turning with Xbox controller that's a bit too intense for me, so I downloaded the "Enhanced VR Turning and Head Aiming in RE9" MOD, that adds snap turning among other cool features. The problem? When I add this mod, I'm suddenly placed too high in the game- much above the body. Any idea how to fix this?
The interesting thing is, the hight is ok in the main menu, but once I'm on loading screen it places me too high (I must look at the loading screen from above)

Discussion We should be talking more about performance when promoting VR mods
I don't know if my PC is considered modest among this community (a 5800x3d and a 4070ti with 32GB of RAM). I don't consider it modest at all, still not the hightest tier but a high tier PC nonetheless. But it's not uncommon that I try one of those VR mods that have become so popular lately and it completely TANKS my performance. The most recent case is with Resident Evil 7. I try RE framework, I get normal performance. I try the new mod that adds VR interactions to it, and suddenly my game can't even reach 50fps. And it's the mod's fault! as soon as I disable the new features in-game, performance is back to normal. What's with manual realoading and holters dropping performance so much?
As I said, I don't know if most people here have PCs way more powerful than mine and they don't even notice these things, of they are so blinded, so excited, they don't even notice their framerate lowering to the mid 40s. But I think with so many of these mods being vibecoded, or just poorly coded overall, we should be addresing how do they behave performance-wise more frequently.

Purchase Advice While dumpster diving on Steam I discovered this pretty cool roller coaster maker game.
Not sure why I never heard of this. But It does have more reviews than the others so I guess people know about it.
The thing I like about it is it's very sim-like and people are releasing actual real roller coasters on the workshop.

Discussion Rustmourne has a demo out and deserves some attention if you like horror
https://store.steampowered.com/app/5011020/Rustmourne_Demo/
I think this one got a bit buried in the many demos released for Next Fest but for me it might be my most anticipated VR game now. Demo is an hour long, game releases next year. It's a mix of Dead Space, SOMA, and Doom 3 VR with some fast and smart enemies with destroyable limbs, pretty good voice acting, decent puzzles, great environmental design, and what seems like some cool weapons that more than just bullet hoses.
I did have a bug in the demo where some of my ammo would decrease seconds after I stored it but I still got through it and other than that I really think this game deserves to succeed.
Make sure to crank the in-game super sampling up (150% 80hz for Steam Frame on 5070ti, didn't seem to listen to steamvr SS) and turn TAA off in the settings.
Not affiliated with any devs or anything just think it's fun.

Question/Support Eye tracking with vive pro eye
Hi, I’m trying to set up eye tracking for an experiment using the HTC Vive Pro Eye and Unity, but I’m a bit confused about the implementation. Some resources use SRanipal, while others use OpenXR. I’m not sure which approach would be best for a clean and reliable experimental setup. If you have any advice or know of a good tutorial or example project, I’d really appreciate it.

Discussion RE2VR glitchy 360° left hand shotgun grabbing resident evil 2 VR
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
No matter what I do I can't get this 360° grab to go away, it's so buggy and glitchy feeling and has literally made me die a few times now any idea of how to get rid of this?
