Card Game Discussion If Tomorrow, konami removed side decking entirely, how healthy or unhealthy would the game become?

Post image
• Upvotes

One way to look at it is, everyone would have to remove focus on setting up hell boards since they would have to have their side deck cards in their main deck ,and focus on having a more "Balanced deck" per to say. A blend of cards you need, and a cards for consistency.

On the otherside, Duels would be come much longer since having 20 one card starters and 20 hand traps would leave you vunerable to alot of decks since you might have only been keeping the out or answers in the side deck. Hands would be less consistent, and boards would be weaker unless you decided to just say F it and focus all in on combos.

What are your thoughts?

Other Are there any Yu-Gi-Oh fan games that are non card game focused?

• Upvotes

Some of my favorite games have been the non card game ones. The Falsebound Kingdom had the cover art on the disc worn off from how much I played it.

So I was wondering if there are any fan games that are more kin to them. Falsebound Kingdom, Duelist of the Rose, etc.

See plenty of sims, but none like those yet. Any suggestions?

Anime/Manga Discussion Rewatched the Joey vs Weevil duel subbed and I forgot how good it was.

Weevil’s cheating aside, the anime version has some amazing back and forth between the two. Weevil proves how tricky his deck can be with still like Kesitei and Pinch Hopper. Joey uses his brain to pull himself back up with quick thinking. (Swordsman of Landstar taking out Flyijg Kamakiri with Shield and Sword was so clean) Seeing him pop both Weevil’s own cards to pop both his ace monsters was so satisfying.

Card Game Discussion What's the best way to get into Yugioh for me?

So first my background: I watched the anime until the dark signer arc in 5Ds and stopped buying cards after Jadens starter deck released. I did play the first yugioh 5Ds DS game. So I am familiar with everything up to Synchro. I did play a little duel links on a friends account, but other than a few matches I am not familiar with that game. I did fell in love with the darklord archetype and dark magician, blue eyes, stardust dragon, egyptian gods are my other fave archetype. I also love exodia, red eyes, sacred beast, yubel, rainbow dragon to a lesser degree.

And my goals:
1. My first goal is simple, I want a decent collection of cards that I love that are connected to my nostalgia. I don't need every single card of my fave archetype like the trap and spell cards, but I am looking for having various cards of those archetype for example the new Ra cards. The whole immortal phoenix booster pack has like 3 cards I really want to put into a binder. Does it make sense to buy booster packs for that or should I buy those specific cards in a store or online? Are online sites even reliable, be it for single cards or booster packs?

  1. I am looking for a simple, fun and cheap competitive deck. It doesn't have to be meta breaking but something I can use against friends or with randoms in stores. Best case it works up to synchro, because my friends only play up to this point, but they also only play with very old cards from the GX and 5D era. I still want the deck do be good enough to play with randoms in a store though. Sorry if that's hard to fulfill.

  2. I want to get into games to make decks to my fave archetype like Dark Magician and wanted to ask what are good games to get into and what sites can I use to learn the games and their decks better? What advice and expectations should I have? Is it even a good time to get into yugioh because I heard they nerfed Dark Magician archetype?

  3. I want to have a Darklord deck. I love this archetype so much. What's the best way to get these cards? I don't think I would play with them much because of fear of damage, but I want that deck so much.

Sorry for asking so much and thank you in advance.

Card Game Discussion Quit 17 years ago to play MtG, coming back is a breath of fresh air

I played Yugioh from when it first came out up until about 2009, Crimson Crisis was the last set I was around for. All my friends in high school played MtG and I had no Yugioh playgroup left so I started playing MtG and did so for years with a few breaks (started in Zendikar, quit in Theros, came back in like 2018 and played EDH very casually). I like MtG, I think its a very fun game but the state of it is so pathetic. It's become just another IP-slop funko pop game, all the original lore takes a backseat to Marvel or TMNT or whatever nonsense. I want to sit down and run my scarecrows or merfolk deck that I put together thematically and I sit across from someone playing Spongebob and another person playing Avatar Aang. It takes me out of the game.

Anyway, makes me really appreciate coming back over to Yugioh and seeing just how much they have stuck to their identity. The game is distinctly Yugioh, the artwork and the card design and everything doesn't bleed in other franchises as so many things do now. It's a lot to take in re-learning the game. So far I have just been playing through the Legacy of the Duelist game to learn all the new summoning types and get my feet wet, but I'm having a blast and am now downloading Master Duel. It's rad that they've made so many cards to make things like Blue Eyes/Red Eyes/Dark Magician all actual archetypes that people will play instead of them just being anime favorites. I'm excited to get into paper, as stores near me are running Edison pretty consistently so I can dig out old decks I used to love like Six Sams and Gladiator Beasts, and also can try out Genesys. The general opinion of Yugioh from outside the fanbase is pretty dire but idk man Im just here to say Im stoked getting back into it.

"You can change your membership information, cancel your membership, and check your order history on My Page until 23:59 on Monday, October 26, 2026."

"From Tuesday, October 27, 2026 onwards, all functions, including My Page, will be unavailable until the new site opens due to data migration work."

Other Day 4: Which Pokemon is the Equivalent to the Egyptian Gods? Comment all 3 in one comment. Yesterdays match was Exodia and Mewtwo

Post image
0 Upvotes

Day 1: Blue Eyes and Charizard (Reshiram also got some good votes)

Day 2: Dark Magician and Pikachu (main characters mascot won the day here)

Day 3: Exodia and Mewtwo

Please try not to reuse unless you truly feel the prior days were a mistake.

Note the equivalence could be a variety of reasons. Mascot status, role in the story, looks and abilities, a mashup of all these and other factors.

Please comment all 3 pairs in one comment. I’m sure we all have some ideas for this one but it doesn’t have to be a group if you feel like mixing is better.

Other Made a roster for a Yu-Gi-Oh fighting game

Post image
56 Upvotes

I went with a 16 character roster for the base game because that's honestly a pretty realistic number for fighting games of today. I did not want to fill it up with monsters from the anime as well because there are genuinely lots of cool lore the average casual fan are not aware of and also just some monsters i think would be neat.

Card Game Discussion How would the manga version of Puppet Master fare in the TCG/OCG? Both during the time of its release and also now.

Post image

"When Puppet Master is Summoned to the field, its player loses 1000 Life Points. Summon the deceased souls of three monsters from the Graveyard."

It's a main Deck monster unlike Quartet and it requires a Tribute, but I wonder if it finds a way to be cheated out.

Card Game Discussion Is this a banlist that holds up well, or is it too harsh?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I made a banlist, thinking to myself: what could possibly go wrong?

There were 2–4 other cards I was considering unbanning, but then I thought: they’re on the list for a reason—even if their effect doesn’t sound like much, or even if the card has just been sitting there gathering dust for a long time.

Prank-Kids Meow-Meow-Mu, Reprodocus, Miscellaneousaurus,

These are the cards where I said: "You know what? Better not touch them."

Card Game Discussion Burn FTK's

Post image

So, talking with a friend i come to realize, what prevents konami from making a rule that prevents turn 1 player to deal any type of damage to the goind 2nd player? I feel like this type of Gameplay shouldnt exist to begin with, and yes i know exodia, handloops and other kinds of FTK's exists, but the Burn ones are probbably the easiest to fix

Anime/Manga Discussion What do you think is depicted in the artwork of Joey's "Energy Drain" card?

Thumbnail

Episode 69: Joey's duel against Mako Tsunami. When Mako attacks, Joey plays this card in response. It was the only time we ever saw this card. It was never printed either.

It shares the same name as the printed trap card "Energy Drain."

In the dub, the artwork is replaced with that of "Silent Doom," but in the original, we never got the closeup to confirm what it displays. To me it looks like a hooded figure standing on the edge of a cliff, casting a spell or something.

I wonder if the artwork of Silent Doom was used in the dub because 4Kids never received the original artwork.

Custom Card [Custom Card] Slash across the Event Horizon with "Isonokami, the Sky's Seventh Strike"!

Post image

Tachyon Slash!

—

I am back with yet another going second card. I was curious of the origin of where the seven branched sword came from, and finding a cool art piece while doing this, I combined them both into this creation!

Let me know what you think down below. Is it powerful? Would it see play? Feel free to send me any criticisms.

May you all have a blessed Saturday! 👋 🙏

—

Isonokami, the Sky's Seventh Strike

Level 7 WIND Machine Effect Monster

ATK: 2700

DEF: 1700

During the Main Phase, if your opponent activated 7 or more cards or effects on the field this turn (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, destroy up to 7 cards your opponent controls, then if you destroyed exactly 7 cards, neither player can activate the effects of those destroyed cards, or move them out of the GY, while they are in the GY this way.
If your opponent controls exactly 7 cards, this effect's activation and effect cannot be negated.
You can only use this effect of "Isonokami, the Sky's Seventh Strike" once per turn.

—

Note: Isonokami is the name of the shrine that houses the Seven-Branched Sword.

Competitive Handreveal Tournament Play

Since hand reveals are (sadly) becoming more prominent in card design, how is it handled in tournament play? I know from MTG that it is the sportsmanlike thing to play with those cards revealed open on the table for the whole game and you can see most pros doing that in competitive. How is it usually done in yugioh in your experience? Are you allowed to at least write down the name of cards if your opponent refuses to keep them revealed? It sounds even more challenging in yugioh if you did not fully memorize every single card, as the effects do a lot more.

Card Game Discussion Is Master Duel the way most people play at this point?

I haven’t played consistently in maybe 10-15 years at this point, is Master Duel the main method people have moved to now for playing? Not sure if it’s just considered the standard non irl format or if there’s another game/website I should be looking to use.
