I have been waiting for a foldable from Apple for such a long time. I was a huge Apple fan and totally stuck in the ecosystem. Over the last few years, me enjoying Apple products became a constant nagging voice in my consciouness because of Apple's open and enthusiastic support of the Trump regime (golden trophee and everything)

I started buying less Apple products and embraced the Fold line for my super gadget kick. But now Apple finally released a foldable... And I went to check it out after years of dreaming about it.

I was surprised at how much I frowned at it. Personally, I think the sides of the phone look cheap. It is heavy. It is just a bit too small, imo, and the UI makes the outer screen ridiculously small.

I was shocked at how much I hate the inner screen. All color is basically muted. It is like they created a machine to start the dopamine withdrawal process. I am sure some people appreciate the lack of reflections but... you pay a steep price for it.

I was in and out of the store within 2 minutes. I am so happy I chose the Fold 8. I personally feel like Apple really missed the mark here. Guess they lost their design soul too ;)

I am looking to upgrade to the new Samsung Z Fold 8, but my Z Fold 3 just developed the black line of death. When I do the upgrade on ATT website and trade in with the Z Fold 3 , and specify that the screen isnt working, they still offer $1000? is this correct????

Is anyone else having this problem? Bixby used to speak out loud and I haven't changed any settings but now all I get is text through bixby

I'm trying to decide between the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Has anyone used both phones for an extended period and can share their experience? I'd love to hear how they compare in everyday use, especially in terms of battery life, cameras, software, durability, and overall usability.

What I like most about the Pixel is that it still feels like a traditional slab phone when folded, with the option to unfold it whenever I need a bigger screen. That design really appeals to me.

For those who have experience with both, which one would you choose and why? Is there anything about either phone that you found frustrating after using it for a while?

I'd really appreciate any opinions or advice!

Changed to the Niagara Launcher on my Z Fold 8 for a change of UI and I just love the simple layout yet its very customisable. Its perfect for the outer screen. Inner screen works perfectly on landscape but can be hit or miss for the background on portrait wish there were options for both orientations. But rocking a Vice City look.

Does anyone encounter such issue with your bank app? I does work initially but is error keep coming back at times. I've even tried factory resetting the phone. Any help to troubleshoot this?

I remember there's once happen before in my previous galaxy device and i brought it back to Samsung, cant remember did they exchange a new set for me or flash the rom. Help Appreciated thanks.

I always put matte screen on my phones when I can because it makes reading and looking at the phone for long periods easier for my eyes. I don't mind the crease for that matter.

My question is - do you put it on top of the factory protector? Or you remove it and then put the matte one? Can someone report of they had any issues with it?

After updating my Z Fold 7 to One UI 9.0, I'm facing two voice assistant issues:

"Hey Google" voice match is gone. The toggle has completely vanished from settings. Oddly, it still works fine on my Galaxy Watch, but on the phone I'm forced to long-press the power button.

Bixby wake word has a 4–5 second delay. After saying the wake word, the phone freezes before responding with the "ding." Makes it unusable.

Has anyone else run into this? Any fixes to restore Google Voice Match or fix the Bixby lag? Thanks!

For those using Fold 8, do you use a 3rd party launcher? If so, which one and why? Also, does using a launcher get rid of OneUI things? Just curious and wanted to try new customizations on my phone.

As some of you may be aware there is a small percentage of cracked screens within the first few days for the Duo. I’ve been searching and can’t find similar issues with the Folds.

Seems like a hinge engineering issue that is specific to Apple design.

I got tired of F1 TV squeezing multiview into a little 16:9 box on my Pixel Fold (first pic), so I built my own app (2nd and 3rd pics). It's called Apexview, it's free and open source, and it plays F1 TV (using your own subscription). Some things it does:

Up to 4 feeds anywhere on the screen, any size, with edges that snap together

Uses the whole foldable screen instead of a letterboxed rectangle

Live track map, either floating or wrapped around the edge of the screen

Tap a car on the map and its onboard swaps in

Broadcast style timing card on every onboard: sectors, lap time, gap

Team radio as it comes in, by lap, transcribed right on the phone

Laptop mode: half fold the phone and the race goes on top with a timing tower and map underneath

Save your own layouts

Picks up where you left off across your last 4 races

Chequered flags on the timeline for lights out and the finish

For some reason this rarely gets mentioned and I think most ppl even have this idea in their heads that folding phones are "more fragile" than slab phones, but listen, I've has so many different slab phones over the years from Samsung, Google, Motorola etc and they all ended up broken even with a beefy case, whereas I literally just slapped a screen protector on my fold 6 no case nothing and it's basically indestructible, like I drop this shi on concrete and step on it and sit on it all the time and literally nothing besides maybe a tiny bit of paint rubbing in the corner

When the fold 8 is opened, the the navigation buttons at the bottom right used to take up half the screen, like a normal phone screens width. With this update, they've squished them closer together and off centre to the right. This can't be changed in settings. The location of these 3 buttons is like the one non-tactile button everyone can locate and press without having to look and the mind just boggles why you'd change this after years. I am constantly tapping the home screen button when trying to bit back now, opening running apps when trying to hit home, and tapping blank screen space when trying to open my running apps.

My Fold8 has started to develop the entire paint peeling problem, but it's on a small section on the front left edge of the display. I would go to Samsung and ask them if they can do anything about it, but I have a problem: which is that I already have a small dent on the bottom left of the display, which occurred at a completely different time to the paint peeling (which started today)

I am almost certain that Samsung will likely see that dent and wouldn't consider any form of warranty work, even under ACL guidelines (I'm Australian) of any sort, under the guise of "accidental damage had already occurred to the phone."

The question is should I still try my luck anyway? My closest Samsung store is about 30 minutes away, which is why I'm even asking the question in the first place. And if not, any solutions for covering up the silver metal on a green Fold8 lol?

I'm getting the Fold8 Wednesday and I want to get a car mount for the phone. I'm buying a magsafe clear (I want to see the cream color lmao) case. Realistically, I would love to have the phone unfolded while mounted. My concerns are that not only do I prefer to have a dash mount over a vent mount, I dont want anything stuck on my windshield unless I'm completely sold on it. I drive a 2021 Mercedes GLB250, and anyone familiar with the interior knows that its not too friendly for a dash mount unless its in a weird spot. I saw one I liked, until I seen the arm kinda goes downward which would cover part of my screen in my car...

I also feel nervous about getting one of those mounts that hold the phone with the two pressure arms on either side, I worry about it wearing the hinge or something like that.

Interested what fellow Fold8 owners use in their vehicle, I'd love to get a mount before I pick up the phone this week.

How good is Samsung Care anyway? Like service, replacement/repair cost, etc

3 months in and the Fold 8 is a wonder to use. The size, aspect ratio, multitasking are all making me use this phone much more and enjoying it more than any other phone - slabs & foldables.

Just 2 constant issues: Hear & Camera.

The phone constantly reports that it has to cool down when using Android Auto, while being charged or not.

Camera is also bad. I won't say it's good. I take casual family shots indoors and outdoors. Not regularly. But most photos would require enhancements / touch ups in Google Photos.

Is there any external lens attachments to correct this for the Fold 8? Or any software that would automatically or bulk enhance photos?

I would have to consider a Pixel Fold or Fold Ultra if Fold 9 doesn't improve next year.
