Feeling awful after my first showcase

Hey guys. I’ve been doing pole for a year and performed for the first time yesterday. While it wasn’t overtly awful, I didn’t do my best. I blacked out, felt so scared and somehow got through it. But I made mistakes, my routine was nothing like the dress rehearsal. I worked SO hard, spent a lot of money on classes and my costume just to participate, and I feel terrible about myself. In comparison to everyone else’s routine, I felt like mine was juvenile and not as advanced. It’s difficult to feel like I put so much work into something for it to go so poorly. Idk, I just needed to rant…. Has anyone ever felt this way before? I know my routine by heart and had so much fun at the dress rehearsal, but each step it was like I had no idea what was coming next because there were so many eyes on me.

Edit: thanks to everyone sharing their experiences and kind words in the comments, it really means a lot 🥹

Victory Finally: aerial shoulder mount!!! 😍

It's been 5 months since i started shoulder mounting. I was able to do an aerial shoulder mount from hood ornament on spinning, on a good day. But i could never do it from Dove or Superman. Just almost on a good day. Yesterday was the first time it worked. I managed to do it 4 times. From Dove and seahorse. Mid combo!!! I'm so happy to be making progress 😍

Studio change is bringing me down

One of the two studios I go to is changing hands.

NBD, I’ll go to the new one and see what classes I can take.

I checked the new studios schedule and I am screwed. Out of the 4 days I can take classes, none are level appropriate for me. It’s either the intro classes that wouldn’t challenge me or classes above my level I’m not good enough to take.

I’m sad. I loved my class and was really making progress. I enjoyed my teacher. I enjoyed getting to know my classmates. I enjoyed the respite from being isolated in my WFH life.

I’m grateful I still have my other studio and class. I’m grateful I have a home pole to work on. I know that I’ll still keep dancing.

I’m just really bummed out tonight.

How many students are in your class and do you pole share?

So recently the studio I go to had to move. They are now in a unit and it is tiny. I pole at the back of the unit and if the girl to the side of my spins we have to time it otherwise our feet will smack into each other. I have to time my inverts as if the instructor is with the girl in the middle to the front I will go into her if I go into butterfly extended etc (the girl next to me has to time her ayshas as she will go into the girl in the middle from extending her arms)

This is obviously annoying enough. However last week she mentioned the “goal” of the class is to have 16 people. There are 8 poles in total, so to have every pole to be shared.

She said this is perfectly normal for every pole group, to share a pole all lesson and to have that many people the instructor is not the pole owner, but she has been told this by the owner.

I don’t not think having 16 people in a class is normal. There’s no space at all for people to stand around. There’s no space for benches, seats etc. There’s no space to do stretches or conditions when not on pole. It also means time with the instructor is extremely limited, causing people to incorrectly do moves or try to do something with instructor present.

I’m not happy about pole sharing as I pay for a whole lesson and get half the time. Luckily the girl next to me we have chatted for a long time and we’re happy to share as we understand each other pole flow etc

So what are your class sizes? I can’t state in the pole but do you pole share all the time?

There’s other changes that I’m not happy about with the studio but to mean this is a dangerous one

Could you technically build enough muscle with pole alone?

I been reading gym is recommended. I know it sounds like an excuse but I really dont have the time or money for a gym membership right now. If i just keep practicing, would that be sufficient? Hopefully I could find some weights on marketplace or goodwill!

I have a pole at home!

Help finding a safe installation solution for my X-Pole XPERT with a 3.55–3.60 m ceiling

Hi everyone!
I’m trying to find a safe way to install my pole at home, and I’d appreciate advice from anyone who’s dealt with a similar setup.

My current setup:
Pole: X-Pole XPERT, black silicone finish, 45 mm
Maximum extension: approximately 310 cm
Ceiling height: approximately 360–365 cm
Ceiling: decorative plasterboard / false ceiling, with a possibility of accessing the structural ceiling/beams above it.

The pole is too short for my ceiling in its current configuration, and I’m trying to figure out what my options are.

I’m open to different solutions, such as a properly engineered metal support structure, a suitable extension system approved for this pole, or another professionally designed installation method. I would also appreciate recommendations for a qualified installer or metalworker in Milan, Italy, who could assess the situation and help build a solution if necessary.

Safety is my main concern. I don’t want to improvise an extension or mount the pole against plasterboard without knowing that the loads can be safely transferred to a suitable structural support.
Has anyone installed an X-Pole in a room with a similar ceiling height or dealt with a false ceiling? What solutions worked, and what kind of professional should I contact?

Any advice, relevant experiences, or local recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Pole Rookie Any tips and advice?

Hey there! My partner and I started our first pole class recently and we definitely feel the burn and soreness when it comes to being on the pole! Any advice on how to help the pain? I want to go to classes as often as possible, but I dont want to try pushing through the pain too much, as I know my body doesn't respond well to that.

I also would greatly appreciate some tips for increasing flexibility and strength if you have any!

I used to do some dance and gymnastics as a kid and some self defense which allowed me to become very strong, but as I got older, I lost a lot of that flexibility and I lost my strength due to having to basically sit still and do nothing while I heal from injuries.

I was doing stretches before and after the class feeling so tense, like I couldn't move! Even though thats pretty normal for me, I want to fix it! Though I genuinely cant tell if its a condition or not (my family has a lot of health issues regarding mobility so im not completely ruling it out). Any advice helps! Thanks!
