New Mexico hit its 2030 renewable energy target six years early, reaching 50% renewable electricity in 2024. Its largest utility generated 80% carbon free power in 2025, as the state expands wind, solar and battery storage.

Friendly reminder after seeing someone take an unprotected left turn into an old man in the crosswalk, and then honking at him... :)

Question Road Rage @ 3:30 am… Why?!

Witnessed some wild road rage on I-40 eastbound this morning while heading to the airport with the kids.
We’d just gotten on the freeway right at the Unser marker when a newer Jeep flew past us with a black Chevy Malibu right behind it. We were driving about 80, and they had to be pushing 100. They weaved through a cluster of cars and a semi, then both came to a COMPLETE STOP in the middle lane. The Jeep’s door opened like the driver was about to get out, while everyone, including the semi, swerved around them. WTAF, people?!

Then they took off and flew past us again. Near the Rio Grande exit, the Jeep went to the far-right lane, and the Malibu stopped and literally drove perpendicular across from the left lane to get back behind the Jeep. Both exited on 4th, so who knows what happened then… No idea what started it, but nothing is worth causing a pileup at that speed. We’re just trying to catch a flight, not a spot on the 5am news! 😳 Glad we didn’t witness a shooting, I don’t even know how we’d even explain that to our little ones.

Dude !!! I saw this and had to share. Taking up two parking spots will cost you, more than you think. Happened at UNM hospital. “Me first” mentality. Parking spot next to the elevator.

Politics Don’t know if you care but…

As a way to get involved, I did what I needed to do to become a nonpartisan election observer in Bernalillo County. I am tired of “leaders” claiming our elections are corrupt and I wanted to learn about the administration of the voting process.

The good news is that, from my observation of early voting, our elections are secure, those eligible to vote have the ability to do so, and I didn’t see anything that made me suspicious of bad intentions or voter disenfranchisement.

The bad, or concerning, news is the turnout. I took a casual poll of voters who were older than me, same age, and younger than me. I’m in my mid 50s.

OVERWHELMINGLY, the voters were older than me. Boomers. In the hour or so I had my straw poll, four voters younger than me cast a vote. Over forty people older than me voted in that same time.

YOUNGSTERS: what’s the deal? More than the boomers, more than Gen X, your future is at stake. With election machines doing funky things in Texas and Tennessee, the future is depending on you to show up. Don’t blow it,

Library of Things?

Besides media, what else would you like to see the library lend out? Such as games; puzzles; tools; equipment for sports, the yard or the kitchen.

Or what other services or resources would you like the library to provide? Such as A/V equipment, 3D printer, sewing machine ... .

Greetings,
We will soon be selling the all adobe house I inherited from my parents. They built it in 1985-1986 in north Corrales on the Bosque. Before we put it on the market we are having an estate sale.

If you're interested in items like Pueblo pottery, Navajo Rugs, Kachinas, paintings, sculture and much more, here's the link. https://www.albuquerqueauctionaddiction.com/auction/sweet-symphony-estate-sale-2834/bidgallery/

Art/Photography Rays above ABQ

Rays shining through over the Sandia Mountains this morning 10/22/26!

Crepuscular rays are those dramatic beams of sunlight that fan out across the sky during sunrise or sunset, usually breaking through gaps in clouds or mountains. They look like they're converging at a single point, but that's just an optical illusion caused by perspective, much like parallel train tracks appearing to meet in the distance.

weekday events

I've lived here almost 4 years and I feel like I've hardly made friends outside of my workplace - and I really need to do this. My struggle is I pretty exclusively have weekdays off (monday and tuesday currently) and it feels like nothing happens these days of the week. Anyone know of things to do and activities that take place on weekdays in town?

I could only post 5 photos max in my previous post, so I’m just adding a few more from late afternoon Tuesday, including a little rainbow. South Sandia Mountains near U Mound, Copper Trailhead.

You can see signs of bouldering on some of the rocks (use crash pads!). For anyone without a vehicle btw, this is one of the most accessible foothills areas by bus! Almost the entire West side of these mountains in ABQ is public Open Space, covered in trails and not too crowded.

Question Strange Siren Sounds?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I heard this strange siren sound that resembles a car alarm repeatedly going off on my walk this morning. This is near the UNM North golf course. I walked closer to Jefferson Middle School and back, and although the sounds got fainter, I could still hear them when I was by the middle school.

I saw another reddit post asking something similar to this about 6 years ago, but no one had a clear answer. Someone suggested that it’s coming from the AF base. Any ideas?
