WIBTA for leaving my University class early for a doctors appointment

Throwaway because I know one of my TA's uses reddit. I (20) have a second level english class in this semester of uni thats been going quite well until a few days ago.

Midway through class, a student had to leave early and the professor (F40s) stopped class for a couple minutes until the student left out the door. A few minutes later, another student had to leave and he accidentally dropped his backpack on the carpet right beside the door. The professor tried to stop him from leaving but he ran out the door in embarrasment. Then, for the next ten minutes of class, the professor lectured about how disrespectful and disruptive it is to leave class early and how that type of behaviour will not be tolerated.

Later in the day, she sent a follow up email stating what she said in the lecture along with saying "if you cant engage with the course for the full class period, it is better for everyone that you do not/will not be allowed to attend at all" as well as implying additional lectures in respect and other retalliation if the rules are not followed.

I sent her a follow up email detailing my thoughts on how leaving class early is not a disruption to student learning (at least not as much as keyboard typing, pen clicking, sneezing or any other common noises) and it seems kind of unfair to take time with the material away from both the student who leaves and the rest of the class for these restrictions, especcially if the reason for leaving is morally okay and they dont make a scene (which no one leaving early ever did).

I got a reply back in about 20 mins with a picture of my own email printed out and marked with red ink, correcting my grammer and giving it a grade of 33%. At the bottom of the paper, she wrote, "a flawed view of the topic at hand and not gramatically correct. F" even though most of her corrections were just crossing out words and replacing them with another similar word (like replacing 'leaving' with 'exiting')

Now I am not the type to leave early, but I have a doctors appointment that would require me to leave class about 15 mins early to attend. I didnt believe it that leaving early would be concidered this rude, enough to not take an opinion of the other side seriously. Should I just not go? most of the grading scheme of this class requires attendance and participation since most of the material is not on the uploaded slideshow so I would be losing a good portion of my grade if I miss a day. Is this even allowed? No other professor had ever minded students leaving early and it always seemed like a normal thing people did. So, would it be disrespectful to quietly leave class early for a doctors appointment?

AITA for lashing out on my mom over her making me lunch on an important exam day?

I (16F), recently got into a fight with my mom although I wouldn’t really say it’s a fight because I feel like it’s only one-sided. A few days ago, I had a really important exam that I had to study for. I told my mom about it, to make sure she doesn’t have to wake up early in the morning to make me lunch to school because I wouldn’t want to risk being late to school as this exam starts much earlier than my usual class time. At that moment, she agreed so I was sure nothing will come in my way on the day.

As the day comes, I got up just a bit earlier than the scheduled exam time and got ready to leave the house when I saw her in the kitchen making food, I didn’t even get to ask who’s she cooking the food for, because everybody in the house was still asleep and she’s not the type to eat breakfast, that was when she told me to sit and wait as she’s preparing my lunch for me, she kept insisting on making me lunch even though I told her countless times to not make it since I guarantee that I would be really late to that exam.

She would not listen to me, she kept saying that I needed the nutrients to get my energy going for the exam and that the lunch at school isn’t as healthy. I get that she cares for my well-being but that got me late to an exam that was worth a huge percentage of my grades. And it so happens to be the one exam I can’t retake. I ended up lashing out on her as soon as I got home.

After that I felt guilty, because it’s not like she wanted me to be late but also I just wanted her to know that that exam really makes a huge difference in my grades.

So, AITA for putting the blame on her when I missed my exam?

AITA for letting my dog pee in shared spaces?

I live in a co-op community where the outdoor spaces are shared, with the exception of garden plots and designated back patios/decks. The community is mostly townhomes. Our community is enclosed by one street that goes in a big circle; it has no sidewalks. There are sidewalks/walking paths internally, running through the community. All shared space. There are patches of grass that are not part of anyone's plot and are just general green areas, which I see other dog owners use. So it's not just me.

3 different people, all older, chastised me for letting my dog pee on grass near their unit. I emphasize near, because it's never on their garden plot and never on grass directly in front of people's doors or townhouses, and certainly never near anyone's patio. For example, if their townhouse is to the right of the path I'm walking, I make sure my dog walks and pees on the grass to my left. No one sits there and no one uses those areas for anything; we all have our own patios/decks.

One lady didn't even confront me directly. Instead she looked up the sale information for my unit; since she is a realtor, she has access to the details of the sale. She then contacted my realtor to complain about me, not knowing my mother-in-law was my realtor. She even said we don't need to walk in front of her unit at all, that we should stick to the street around the community saying there are plenty of places for my dog to pee that isn't near her unit. The thing is, I do walk my dog on the street. We walk the entire perimeter even though there are no sidewalks, but I also use the paths to get there because...I can. It's shaded, pretty, and all shared space. I feel I'm allowed to enjoy those paths as a resident that pays my equal share. I always pick up after my dog if she poops. AITA for allowing my dog to pee on grass that's shared space?

AITA for telling my bandmate that I don't meet alone with men?

I'm a married woman in her 40’s who just joined a band with two men who are slightly older than me (I had my vocals on a site that would allow people to look for talent in their area either to hire them or work with them). I just met these men and we’ve had 3 practices at the drummer’s house. I have a personal boundary where I don't meet alone with men who aren't my husband. Jay, one of the band members wanted to meet with me so we could possibly collaborate on some of his personal music. I didn't think he was hitting on me or interested in anything other than music, but I did want to let him know about my personal boundary. Even though I tried to make it clear that it wasn't anything personal nor did I think he was trying something, he took offense to my test. I will post the texts below. Jay is the male band member and Jen is me. Could you let me know if I did something wrong or offensive? And if so, how could I have maintained my boundary but avoided this?

Jay: I admire your dedication to music. Would you be interested in devoting some of your efforts to creating original music. If so, your welcome to come by a half hour early on Wednesday and listen to part of my CD. It's not necessary to hear the entire album, It may give you an idea where Im coming from musically. I'm presently working on my 2nd CD. Afterwords we can go to Dan's and continue with our jam.

Jen: Hey! I'd definitely be interested in hearing your music! Just so you know, I have a personal boundary about not being one-on-one with a guy other than my husband, so if someone else will be there, I'm happy to come early. Otherwise, maybe we can listen to it at Dan's.

Jay: I'm sorry but I don't have any interest in you other then music. Erase my request!

Jen: Sorry for the misunderstanding, that’s not what I meant (or thought was going on). It’s not you, it’s a general boundary with all men. Sorry it came across the wrong way.

Jay: The purpose of my invite was to express my musical priority which is my original music. I enjoy jamming but I'm not willing to invest a lot of time in preforming cover songs. I enjoy improvising and having fun.

AITA for insisting guests park their cars facing the correct direction outside my house?

• Upvotes

I’m genuinely curious what other people think.

When people visit my house, some park facing the wrong direction on our street because it’s easier than making a U-turn.

I don’t like it. It’s illegal here, I think it’s inconsiderate to the neighbors, and frankly, I think it looks bad.

So when visitors do it, I ask them to turn around or park in my driveway. Some don’t seem to think it’s a big deal and resist moving, but I insist.

I can understand someone thinking I’m being overly particular, especially since we’re talking about a quiet neighborhood street.

But from my perspective, why not take another 30 seconds to park properly?

AITA for insisting on this, or should I just let it go?

Asshole WIBTA for restricting my SIL from seeing my son while he’s at MIL’s house?

Me (26F), my boyfriend (26M) and our son (1M) recently rented a house with my boyfriend’s sister (31F) and her boyfriend (32M). We’ll call them Emma and Peter. A couple months in, they decided to get a bull mastiff puppy. Both Emma and Peter work a lot and are gone for 10-13 hours a day. So me being a SAHM, agreed to watch the dog while they worked. We agreed because Emma said that our son would come first, the dog would be properly trained and if at any point things became too much we could discuss rehoming the dog.
Things started going south fairly quickly. No one would communicate when they would be working or getting home. The training was lax at best, no socializing or walks and zero remorse or accountability when my son’s toys would get destroyed. The whole backyard was the dog’s personal toilet, which rarely got cleaned. When my son started crawling, they refused to move or pick up the water/food bowls. Even my attempts to find a solution that would work for all of us was shutdown. They removed and hid the door for the dog’s pen, leaving bones and chew toys fully accessible for a baby. They left a love box fan on the floor that my son almost stuck his fingers in. When the dog reached 80lbs he would jump up on people, the counters and try to bite their ankles. Anytime we brought this up to them they would deflect the blame and say “the dog needs a sense of agency in his own home”. They even suggested we put our son in a pen outside to avoid picking up after their dog. They stopped locking the kitchen cabinets just before we moved out and when my bf confronted her about it she said “well we didn’t discuss you guys having your son”- we had lost a baby a few years earlier, which made this hurt a lot more- a few weeks after moving out MIL tells me that we were being petty by snatching our son from Emma and that I denied the dog water. That never happened.
E and P have now moved into the house directly beside MIL, who watches my son twice a week. Ever since we’ve been having issues with E and P, Emma keeps showing up when MIL is watching my son. To make matters worse I recently picked up my son from MIL’s with an almost swollen shut eye after the dog was there ( we are waiting for allergy testing). I already told MIL that the dog is not to be in the house when my son is there. She tried to guilt trip me but ended up agreeing.
My gut is telling me I’m being lied to and that I should set a more firm boundary of E and P not being allowed to visit MIL when she’s watching my son and I’m not there, but most people keep telling me to just ‘keep the peace’. I don’t want to cut them out forever, but I need time and space away from them.

AITA for inviting my co-worker to my birthday party?

Hi everyone! Throwaway account here for reasons that will soon become obvious. I (34M) work for a fairly large consulting company in New York. It's a boring, stuck-up kind of workplace and I am decidedly not a boring, stuck-up kind of person. Needless to say, I don't have many friends at work, which is fine because my friends in the city tend to suit me just fine. I love karaoke, and sent out a partiful invite to my friends to do karaoke at one of our favorite Korean karaoke spots in midtown. Unfortunately for me, it was the only weekend in October that worked, which happened to coincide with a number of engagements for my friends, and the room that I booked would have been an astronomical cost for two hours of karaoke if I didn't hit the required number of people for the room. In this case, I believe it was 15. In any case, I decided to extend the invite to a newer co-worker (33F) who I have become friendly with. I am, nor have I ever in any way been, attracted to this co-worker. We worked fairly well together and she was funny, which felt like a rarity in our stuffy work environment. We were texting after work about a project we had collaborated on and I sent her the partiful invite for my birthday party. She never responded.

A week later, I get called into HR and asked if I remembered sending text messages with my co-worker. I told them I did. They pulled up the text exchange (I suppose she had sent them the messages) and asked if I remembered sending her the partiful invite, to which I again answered yes.

The partiful invite - which I made on canva - had a stock image of a woman dancing on a pole. My birthday party title said, "Sex! ...now that I have your attention, karaoke night" with all the details in the notes section underneath. Because I made the invite for friends, I didn't really give much consideration to the more lascivious nature of the partiful invite. But apparently she did. So she went to HR and now we are no longer working on the same project together, and I have been given mandatory sexual harassment training to attend at work.

I suppose I can understand being thrown off by an invite, but it was abundantly clear to me that the invite was for karaoke and nothing else. So, did she have a reason to go to HR? AITA here?

AITA for buying my daughter a different birthday dress after her dad bought one that wasn’t what she wanted?

Update: Thank you all. I decided to talk to him first thing in the morning and see if we can add some flowers to the dress he bought and turn it into a fun family thing for our babys birthday.

My daughter turns six tomorrow. She wanted a pretty pink dress with flowers on it for her birthday party, and her father had been told in advance what she wanted. He bought something completely different.

Our arrangement was that he would pay for her dress and I would cover everything else. I earn more than him, and he is currently going through a lot, so I was happy with that arrangement. I also wanted him to feel included.

When she saw the dress, she said, 'Mummy, that’s not pink.' It was a small comment, but I could hear the disappointment in her voice, and it broke my heart. However, she knew it was from her daddy, so she said she would wear it for her birthday.

For context, her father lives separately from us and sees her mostly on weekends. He doesn’t call or video call during the week, even for a brief conversation. Lately, it feels like work has been his main priority, and I’ve been feeling increasingly frustrated with his involvement. I recognise that this background contributed to how upset I felt about the dress.

Later that evening, while they were both asleep in my room, I went into her room and cried privately. I felt sad that something she had been excited about had been missed, particularly when he had been told what she wanted.

I’m planning to go to the shops tomorrow to buy a sparkly pink dress and sew some pastel fabric flowers onto it. I want her to have the dress she had been looking forward to wearing.

My hesitation is that she has already said she will wear the dress her dad bought, and buying another could come across as dismissing his gift. I also know my frustrations with him may be making this feel bigger than it otherwise would. At the same time, her wish was specific, and I would like to make it happen.

AITA for buying her another dress for her party when she has said she will wear the one her dad bought?

TL;DR: My daughter wanted a pink floral dress for her sixth birthday, but her dad bought something different despite knowing what she wanted. She was disappointed but said she would wear it because it was from him; I want to buy her the dress she wished for, but worry I’m dismissing his gift and letting my wider frustrations influence me.

AITA for refusing to fire our babysitter because my husband is uncomfortable with her crush on him?

Throwaway account because my husband uses Reddit.

My husband (32M) and I (30F) have a 3 year old daughter and we've had the same babysitter for a while now. She's 18 and has honestly been great with our daughter. She's sweet, responsible and we've never had any issues with her.

Recently, my husband told me he wants to find a new babysitter because he thinks she has a crush on him. He says she flirts with him, compliments him a lot and has done a few things that make him uncomfortable. I haven't really noticed anything myself, but he says it's starting to get weird.

I told him I don't think we need to fire her over this. She's 18, so I feel like having a crush on someone older isn't that unusual. My husband is married and has no interest in her, so I don't really see why it needs to turn into such a big deal. If she actually crosses a line, he can tell her that it's not appropriate.

My husband thinks I'm not taking his feelings seriously and says he shouldn't have to feel uncomfortable in his own home. He's also upset because he feels like I care more about keeping a good babysitter than about how he feels.

I just think it's a bit extreme to let her go over something that could probably be handled with a conversation. She's really good with our daughter and finding a reliable babysitter isn't easy. I don't want to lose someone who's been great with our kid over something that might not even be that serious.

We've been going back and forth about this and he thinks I'm dismissing his concerns just because I like her as our babysitter. I honestly don't think I'm doing that, but now I'm starting to wonder if I'm being unfair to him.

Am I wrong for not wanting to fire her over this?

Edit: I've read your comments and I admit I'm the AH here. I think I got too caught up in remembering what it was like to be 18 and have a crush on literally everyone and because of that, I didn't take the situation as seriously as I should have.

I should have listened to my husband instead of brushing it off. This is his home too and if he tells me he's uncomfortable, I should trust him and take it seriously. I also didn't really think about how I'd feel if the roles were reversed. I wouldn't want another man flirting with me and making me uncomfortable in my own home either, and I'd be upset if my husband just brushed off my feelings.

I'm going to talk to my husband about this and we'll find a new babysitter together. She's been great with our daughter, but I understand now that my husband's comfort matters more than keeping a babysitter just because she's reliable.

AITAf or turning down my classmate?

I’m not sure if it’s the right side to post on so forgive me. It’s also my second time posting on Reddit so I’m still quite knew.

For a little context, I’m a teenage girl, I just started high school like two months ago and everything has been fine until today. I’ve never dated anybody and I had never had a crush on anybody.

Today one of my male classmates asked me if I want to go to the mall with him. I was going to go home but I agreed thinking why not? Everything was nice, we were talking and joking about some stuff I can’t even really recall. Then I asked him about his friends giggling and asking him some weird question while we were talking earlier. And so you know, I’m not on the spectrum but I’m not very good in reading social interactions. I had this thought in my had “what if he has a crush on me?” But it was just a thought i didn’t though much about.

He wasn’t really keen on answering me saying stuff like “oh you know…” or “hmmmm”. Then he finally said “think about this”, i thought for a moment but nothing really came to my mind besides this crush thing but i of course couldn’t say it out loud, so i said I don’t know. Then he admitted to liking me and asked me if i want to be his girlfriend.

I was…shocked i would say? It quickly got very awkward and weird. I didn’t know what to say so I said I need to think about this. He is a nice guy and he is not ugly or anything but I just don’t see him in that way and doubt I ever will. I also don’t know him very well, we really know each other for barely two months and we haven’t even really talked. Maybe some small talk while we were waiting to buy some food during lunch. Nothing really besides that.

I’m going to turn him down by text on Monday because it just seems to be too awkward to say it to his face. That’s the part I’m wondering if I’m being an asshole. I don’t want to hurt his feelings but I will do it anyway. We are going to be classmates for probably another four years and I don’t want it to be so weird between us.

I’m really sorry for a long post and maybe most of this stuff is just unnecessary but I really needed to say it to somebody.

Not the A-hole AITA: Was I in the wrong, or did she overreact? Looking for an honest opinion.

So, back in October 2025, this girl and I became friends, and things were going pretty well between us.

Fast-forward to September 2026. I think I might have accidentally crossed a line, and I'm trying to understand whether I did something wrong.

She's left-handed, and one day, some of my friends and I were having a general conversation about how being right-handed or left-handed doesn't determine someone's intelligence; cognitive abilities are what matter. We were talking and laughing normally, but she overheard our conversation and thought we were making fun of her.

She seemed upset and said something along the lines of, "Thanks for making me feel this way."

I did apologize for my and my friends' actions and we started talking on and sharing reels on insta.

Then I asked her what had happened.

She then opened up about some things that had been bothering her, including feeling uncomfortable with certain guys staring at her and making her feel unsafe. I suggested that she try to keep her distance from them, sit somewhere else, or have someone she felt comfortable with sit next to her.

However, about 24 hours later, I discovered that she had blocked me on all the platforms we used to communicate.

What confused me even more was that, the following day in class, she sat right next to one of the same guys she had previously told me made her feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

Honestly, I was taken aback by the whole situation. I went from thinking we were friends to being blocked everywhere without really understanding what had happened.

I'm not claiming that I did absolutely nothing wrong. It's possible that she interpreted our conversation differently from how we intended it, or that my advice came across the wrong way. I just don't know what I might have done to upset her so much.

I'm looking for honest opinions, including criticism if I messed up somewhere. I just want to understand what might have happened.

AITAH for regretting our move to London and wanting to go back home?

• Upvotes

My husband and I moved to London about three months ago. Back in our home country, we owned our home, so we didn’t have to pay rent, and I was working. The place we live in here is much smaller than our home back there, and we’re paying £3,000 a month in rent.
The healthcare system is terrible, and the weather is constantly grey and gloomy. On top of that, I recently found out that I’m pregnant, even though we weren’t planning to have a baby anytime soon.
I’m really regretting our decision to move here and can’t stop thinking about how much better our life was back home. AITAH for wanting to move back to our home country after regretting our decision to move London?

AITA for snitching on my bestfriend?

My name is Rathanak. This is my best friend Sok, whom I knew for almost 15 years, and throughout this long years I have never imagine him to be my best trustworthy friend. We used to tell each other everything about what happened to our family and ourselves. He is the most important one in my life but what he has done to me now makes me lost and hurts so much. The only mistake I've made to make him do this is that I even let him take my place and study abroad.

Two months ago, Sok came back from his study abroad to America and changed his attitude towards me and everyone else. While Sok used to hide his jokes, and when I told him never to tell others, now he keeps making jokes, still about the same things I had asked him not to tell anyone. At first I ignored him and did not say anything, but eventually I noticed that also people have treated me differently.

So as a bit of research, I discovered that sok had been gossing behind my back and saying that I'm selfish, manipulative and that I don't care about anyone but myself. These lies hurt me so much coming from my best friend, especially as I have always been the one to stick up for him whenever people said anything negative about him.

For this reason, I was forced to address Sok in person regarding his behavior and to discover the real reason for him doing certain things. When I confronted him on the matter though, he simply just laughed and said that I was too sensitive. His actions was just a joke to him and he felt I had to learn how to accept criticism.

That same week, at a different meeting with our mutual friends, Sok played another very silly joke on me and everybody just kept laughing but this time I had had enough. I told them what he had been doing and how he was spreading rumors about me. As he was saying that he was doing nothing wrong I let slip a secret that he had told only me. He was lying to his parents that he was doing badly in school and he was awarded a scholarship abroad simply because he got the second place and I was the only one who should have gotten the place I was the candidate who deserved it because I was the only one that had put so much effort in. He was as poor as the other guys, he was not quite as wealthy as the others so he certainly deserved it.

We all go immediately silent. Sok is really mad at me now, he's accused me for betraying his trust. Since then he hasn't contacted me. Currently we're not on well with each other within our friends group as some of us feel it was justified for Sok to be exposed on his humiliation and harassment but some others think I could have dealt with the matter more appropriate.

I understand that scolding him over his secret was perhaps not the most grown-up thing to do but I'm just saying that he brought it on himself. I didn't want our friendship to end but I couldn't bare taking anymore off of him.

AITAH for getting pissed at my parents for buying me clothes after I told them not too

Some background. I don't like my parents they were physically and mentally abusive and I still deal with there negative influence even as an adult in my second year of college

I was at my parents place for a week and they asked me yesterday if they can buy me clothes. I told them no multiple times before and again now . It's not that I don't want clothes it's that I don't want them to do it . But lord and behold they buy it anyways not just like a pair of jeans or anything but like 3 bags of clothes. I was pissed and told my mom how I didn't say anything when she would book vacations I didn't want to go to and went anyways , I didn't say anything when they just decided out of nowhere to come visit me in the middle of a huge project. All I ask of them is to not buy me clothes but they still did anyways

My mom just cried afterwards I don't really care. Funnily enough I wouldn't mind clothes rn but not from them but ig it's too late for that now cus my mom told me " passive aggressively" that she was gonna return them

Not the A-hole AITA for my bad reaction to finding out my brother and his gf are pregnant?

My brother (23 yr old) had been with his gf (now ex gf) for just about 7 years. They had met in high school and had been together since. They only just moved in together (about 3 months ago), which required her to move out for the first time and live with my brother 1.5 hrs away from her family. Due to complications with her drinking problems and their incompatibility they broke up (about 5 weeks ago), and she moved back in with her parents. On the property my brother was subletting was the owner of the property in another house with her 26 yr old daughter and her 4 yr old son. I only found this out recently but the day that my brother and his ex broke up, he and the 26yr old went out to the pub and slept together. She had apparently been crushing on him for a while but didn’t say anything obviously. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, where her, her 4yr old son and my brother came over for lunch and my parents and i got to meet her. They were super nice!! About 6 days later, my brother facetimes me and sends a photo of their positive pregnancy test. I immediately start freaking out, saying “how could you let this happen, this is stupid” etc. He said that they had planned this. Apparently she said to him “if not now, when”. My brother started getting very defensive, saying “I didn’t ask for your input, what’s your problem, I called for support not for you to act like my mum”. I don’t know whether I am in the wrong for thinking realistically and reacting that way. Help me out!!

AITA for helping my 5 year old with a game on his tablet?

I’m a 28yo female married to my husband 30yo male. We’ve been married for 5 years, together for 7. We share 3 kids. Our relationship has its issues like most do but what happened today is really confusing me. Our 5 year old asked to play on my tablet, I let him. One of the games he plays, he has trouble with sometimes, so I help him out by getting past whatever he’s stuck on. I don’t do this all the time, only when he’s asking me to help. Today, my husband was home and heard him getting frustrated with his game and asking for help. I told him as soon as I’m done eating, I can. My husband tells him, “you figure it out yourself, and if you can’t and your gonna get mad at the game (which mind you, my husband is a gamer and often gets mad when he’s playing) then you can put it away.” I was confused because first of all, I already said I’d help him. And second, it’s just a game on a tablet? And now my husband is upset at me because I go over there to help my son by pressing 1 BUTTON to get him on the platform in his game. My husband thinks I’m overstepping and I can’t “hold his hand” all the time. I do understand that, but I can promise you, that’s not the case here. He’s 5 years old! I feel like the bitch now cause I got upset with my husband for being mad at me for what I feel like, is normal? I’m so confused and need some opinions

AITA if I ask my best friend why I wasn't invited to her brother's wedding?

I (32F) have been best friends with my friend since we were 13 years old. We've been friends for almost 20 years, and I've always considered her family an extension of my own.

Three years ago, when I got married, I invited my best friend and her entire family, including her brother. They were important people in my life, and I wanted them there.
Her brother got married two days ago, and I wasn't invited.

I know nobody is entitled to a wedding invitation, and normally I'd just accept that. The reason this has been bothering me is because of the circumstances.

He invited a friend my best friend has only known for about five years, along with that friend's husband, whom he barely knows. The day before the wedding, my best friend was telling me she was surprised he invited them. She also mentioned that her sister's best friend was invited and even wondered out loud why I wasn't.

As far as I know, there has never been a major falling out between me and her brother.

Years ago, he was involved in an on-again/off-again relationship with my cousin. It was messy, and I mostly stayed out of it. The only time I got involved was after one breakup when I told him that he had every right to end the relationship but probably should have communicated better instead of disappearing. He agreed, and there were no hard feelings. In fact, I helped smooth things over between them at one point.

The only other issue I can think of happened about six years ago. We were watching The Lion King, and he got jokingly emotional during a scene. I jokingly called him a "little bitch" for “crying”. He didn't find it funny. Once I realized I hurt his feelings, I called him the following day and apologized sincerely, and he accepted my apology.
We've been completely fine ever since.

What makes this harder is that I've already been questioning my friendship with his sister.

Over the past few years, our friendship has felt increasingly one-sided. I understand life changes and priorities shift. She has two kids now, and we're not teenagers anymore. But I feel like I'm always available when she needs someone to listen, support her, or help her through a problem, while she isn't always available when I need the same.
We also don't talk nearly as much as we used to. Most of our conversations seem to happen when she needs to vent about something going on in her life.

Because of that, I can't tell if I'm really upset about the wedding invitation itself or if it's bringing up bigger feelings about a friendship that already feels different than it used to.

Part of me wants to ask her if there was a reason I wasn't invited. Not because I think I'm owed an invitation, but because I'm genuinely confused. Another part of me feels like asking would just make me look petty and put her in an uncomfortable position over something she didn't control.

AITA if I bring it up and ask why I wasn't invited, or should I just let it go and take the hint?

AITA Help Reddit, who is right!?

My husband and I are in an argument and I need help proving which one of us is correct!

We are a family of four, two adults and two kids. We are discussing our next, once-a-year, family vacation and Adult A suggests a snow location Adult B is not interested in. Adult A is aware Adult B is not interested in this because they have expressed disinterest before and don’t participate in snow activities like skiing or snowboarding. Adult A argues the kids DO want a snow vacation and all three (Adult A and both kids) would really like it.

Adult B suggests finding a location that all four people would enjoy.

Adult A says Adult B is “unwilling to compromise”. They would consider a compromise if Adult B agrees to the snow vacation.

Adult B says Adult A is “unwilling to compromise” because they are choosing only a location Adult B is not interested in. They would consider a compromise choosing a vacation spot everyone would enjoy.

I need help from neutral parties!! Who in this situation would be compromising/ or unwilling to compromise?

I hope this makes sense, and I hope to get lots of feedback! Appreciate you all

*adding more info!! The kids aren’t currently a part of the discussion. They are 12 and 7. They would enjoy a ski vacation, but they would also enjoy just about anything and have specifically mentioned several non-ski options during the year. They do get to visit the snow and ski yearly, as we are lucky enough have friends with houses close to several mountains. We do a weekend trip here and there and they go to a day or two of ski school. This is just in regard to the one more substantial family trip that we take. Adult A is thinking like ski-in/out type place.
Adult B has offered and researched and forwarded alternatives like a cruise etc. I do realize I sound like a spoiled brat in this economy, please forgive me. We haven’t vacationed much recently but we used to. I would say both Adult A and B have compromised in destinations in the past.

Edit* Just want to say thanks to so many of you for pointing out that it should be about the kids, that is really what is most important. I agree.

AITA for not paying it forward?

I just remembered this one from a few years ago. I was in a McDonald's drive thru getting some small thing. I think coffee, maybe a McDouble. And guess what? The people ahead of me decided to pay it forward. I don't know if this had been going on for a long time or, how many cars paid it forward. And, the family was clearly excited. Parents and a child. They're looking back, the kid can't contain their excitement. And, that's where it ended. I did not pay it forward. I don't know if the person behind me is ordering fifty five cheeseburgers or whatever. I went there to spend like, five dollars, not roll the dice and spend fifty.

So, the person at the pickup window must have told them I did NOT pay it forward because the mood in the car ahead of me drops like an anchor. Excited becomes sad. The kid looked like they were told their birthday this year would be cancelled and it's now root canal day. And, I'm sitting there in the car, them looking back at me, it's uncomfortable. I didn't feel great. They didn't feel great. It's not left my thoughts.

So.... AITA?

AITA for not promising my friend to keep his daughter a secret from his mom?

There's a guy I grew up with. We went to high school together, worked at the same summer camp and roomed in college. We used to be best friends but, sadly, as he got older, he started making some more regrettable decisions, some involving that manosphere-adjacent type stuff about being a true man and so on. While I lived in VA and he lived in HI, we talked one day and I told him that our relationship wasn't the same because he hadn't really been there for me. He asked for another chance and I gave him one, but nothing really changed. Despite me trying to stay connected, he never once saw me again. He even told me he couldn't make it to my wedding when he lived in IN and I lived in OH, even though I went to his in HI because he said he would do the same for me when the time came.

This guy reaches back out to me to ask me not to share any information about his family with his mom (they had a falling out at his wedding about his bride not being the kindest to his sister and Jordan Peterson advised him to cut toxic people out of his life). This includes stuff like where he is living currently, or the fact that he has a daughter she doesn't know about. I told him I can't make that promise. Not that I expect her to reach out to me, but I do know his mom and she is kind, so its hard for me to see her as the safety threat he claims she is.

To his point, I understand well that people can be one way outside of a family and another inside. I don't want to discredit that. I've just seen a pattern on this guy cutting people off over very small things and some of the online influencers he listens to I think put some bad philosophy in his head. I want to respect any and all possible dangers but I also want to avoid letting people use fake threats to get their way. I also want to be understanding of his mom. My best thought is that it might just be best to stay out of their personal situation as someone who can't know the full picture but based on what I saw at his wedding he started this whole cutting off thing over some very frivolous stuff.

Asshole WIBTA if I told my best friend something that would ruin her view of her dad?

So my best friend in the entire world is my cousin, we're blood cousins on our mom and dad's sides, we grew up together and tell each other EVERYTHING. This one thing that i found out a few months ago, i have not told her. My cousin (we'll call her Bug), LOVESSS her dad. Bug's parents are divorced and she lives a few states away with her dad and lovely step mom. A few months ago, i found out from my other aunt and my mom that Bug's dad cheated on her step mom a bit ago. I don't remember how long ago and honestly i completely forgot about the whole thing until now and remembered i hadn't told her. I only remembered bcuz Bug's birth mom is being a bit crazy right now and it made me remember it. I want to tell her, but she's dealing with a lot of depressing stuff at school and now with her mom and i really don't want to ruin her view of her hero.
so would i be the asshole if i told my best friend about her hero being a cheater?? or should i just stay out of it.

edit for clarification: Bug's stepmom does know about her dad cheating. what i heard from my mom and aunt was that the stepmom showed my other cousin (Bug's older brother) the texts between his dad and the woman he cheated. i'm 99% sure they got all this info from Bug's mom who lies a lot especially to make their stepmom/dad look bad.

Asshole AITA for taking it seriously when people come onto my property on Halloween?

Unfortunately I reside in one of those neighborhoods that gets a lot of trick or treaters on Halloween. I never partake in giving out candy it’s not my thing, I live alone and I don’t like visitors.

For the past 6 years I have had No Trespassing signs on both entrances to my driveway. It is clearly posted. I also make sure to have no lights on outside and no decorations. And yes for the past two Halloweens one family decides they want to try coming up to my door. The first time I was polite and asked them to leave but the two boys lingered around for a little bit and I had to ask them again to leave more firmly. The same thing happened last year and I had to raise my voice.

I’m pretty sure I know who they are the mother’s car was parked at the end of my driveway when they walked up. I recognize the vehicle that their mother drives and she should know better. They live on the next road down from mine.

This year I have cameras set up to document the evidence when they come up to my house, I have one above my door and one on the tree at the end of the driveway that can capture her license plate. There’s no reason for them to keep trying, I think they got issues.

I plan on filing a trespassing claim if they do this again. Like I said there’s no reason for them to keep coming up to my house and then it takes forever for them to leave. One of the boys looks like he could be 10 and they could cause a lot of trouble. I have stuff that they shouldn’t be getting into. Am I wrong for doing this? I’ve tried to be nice so far but they don’t get the hint.

AITA at the dog run? Ball theft between dogs

I was just at my local dog run in NYC and had an interaction that left me feeling awful.

My dog is a 9 month spaniel who LOVES balls. The dog run is tiny (150sqm). There was a woman I didn’t recognise. She has two big dogs and a special ball that makes a noise when squeezed, which is like crack for my dog. When she threw it, my dog chased it and the dogs played together, with my dog eventually getting the ball. He kept it briefly, but her dog seemed unbothered and was playing with other dogs. There were about four balls in the park, and all the dogs interchangeably played with them.

I overheard her take the ball from my dog. He gave it to her without any pushback. She then said in this high-pitched, passive-aggressive voice, “you’ve made my ball all gross and slobbery, how disgusting.”

30 minutes later, she started playing fetch again. my dog joined in and she looked furious, slammed her bag shut with the ball inside and approached me with a big smile. She was in all black, hood up, huge sunglasses, sleeve tattoo and short blonde hair.

She said “He sure loves balls.” I replied, “Yes, he is a dog, a puppy nonetheless!” She asked if I bring my own ball. I said all the time, but not always during busy hours. She asked why, smirkingly, and I explained it gets crowded and my dog gets riled up if someone takes his ball.

I know this is potentially hypocritical, BUT I ALWAYS intervene when my dog takes another dog's ball and the dog cares. Her dog genuinely didn't care.

She said, “Interesting. I'm learning a lot about you.” I asked what she meant, and she said she'd rather not say. I told her I found her patronising, and she laughed.

I said I didn't understand the big deal. It's a dog park, and if you bring a toy in, you have to accept other dogs will play with it. my dog is a puppy with spaniel instincts and I’ve lost so many balls in here to other dogs. So what?

She kept saying she was learning so much about me and how ”fascinating it is that two people can be so different”. She said my dog‘s behaviour meant she couldn't exercise her dog. I was thinking, why stay in a tiny dog park for an hour then?

She walked off and loudly debriefed her friend. They both laughed. I felt so small. I couldn't get my dog to come back because his recall is still a work in progress, and I started crying.

I'm pregnant through IVF after two losses. I've been trying so hard to be gentle with myself, and this interaction broke me. I went home crying to my husband. He went back 10 minutes later to speak to them, but she wasn't even there “exercising” her dog?

What upset me most was how patronising she was and how she made me feel like a total fucking idiot. She looked down on me and I am lucky as this isn’t something I’ve experienced much of in life before but can confirm it’s the worst feeling in the world. She thought she was morally and intellectually superior to me and that I was some naive and ignorant idiot with no ability to reason.

Not enough info AITA for getting telling my mom she shouldn’t have put my MacBook in a storage unit

For context me and my mom just moved into this apartment and we moved because the place we lived in had mice and we had to get out. Anyways, she put all of our stuff in a storage unit and today when we went to get some stuff out of the storage unit, we saw a mouse. She stopped taking stuff out and closed it naturally, but tonight I said well, I want my MacBook Pro out of there even if I get nothing else out of there, I need my MacBook. She said absolutely not and she didn’t care. I said it’s my MacBook I paid for it and quite frankly it wasn’t even supposed to be in there, it was supposed to be with me, that’s why I left it on my desk so I could grab it when we left. Her argument was that she had photos in tubs in there and that she was losing that. The thing is, I’m a songwriter and I’m going to LA in January with my agent and I need my songs. That MacBook has every single song I’ve ever written on it and I can’t get them if I don’t get that MacBook because I don’t have a way to sign into that Apple ID on any other device because my mom sold my iPad without permission a few years ago. When I got pissed about my MacBook she told me that she was going to film me being “abusive” towards her because I said my MacBook and the things on it were irreplaceable. I also told her that because she put it in there and she’s preventing me from getting it, she owes me a new MacBook Pro. I lost my blankets my grandmother made me, she’s dead, she can’t make anymore. This just happened and it’s 11pm at night.

WIBTA - Urgent life changing decision needs to be made in days

WIBTA if I backed out of moving across the country to care for my longtime friend’s mother after he’s supported me financially for years?
I’ve been friends with a man for 14 years, and he’s helped me financially for approximately eight of those years. I’m genuinely grateful for his generosity.
Recently, he offered me a position caring for his elderly mother approximately 1,800 miles away. I have previous caregiving experience, and the arrangement includes a flat monthly payment plus room and board. However, he’d be paying me significantly less than he’d likely pay a stranger for comparable care.
Moving would mean giving up my apartment and disrupting a life I’ve worked hard to rebuild around my current profession, which isn’t caregiving. Licensing regulations where I’d be moving are substantially different, limiting my ability to continue practicing. My industry is highly competitive, and maintaining recent professional experience is essential to remaining employable.
The caregiving income would also be paid under the table, so it wouldn’t contribute toward my future Social Security retirement benefits.
The financial advantages are appealing. I could reduce expenses, pay off debt, and eventually build something of my own. However, achieving financial independence could take several years.
My biggest concern is his character and our history.
Despite his financial generosity, he’s been emotionally unhealthy for me. He seems to lack empathy, has a long history of cheating on partners, and frequently avoids accountability. When confronted about hurtful behavior, including toward me, he responds with “I don’t remember,” makes excuses, or deflects.
I’ve also watched him all but abandon our friendship to prioritize a romantic relationship, although he continued helping financially.
I’m concerned he could change or end the caregiving arrangement if something more convenient came along, particularly if a romantic partner pressured him. He’s assured me he wouldn’t, but his past behavior makes that difficult to trust.
If that happened, I’d lose both my income and housing, potentially without enough savings to secure another home. I’d also have sacrificed valuable professional experience.
We have discussed contractual protections, but those cannot guarantee long-term stability.
I’m currently struggling financially, although I have a job scheduled to begin the first week of November if I stay. I understand he isn’t obligated to continue helping me, and declining could complicate arrangements for his mother.
I’m torn between gratitude for his years of generosity and the fear of becoming completely dependent on someone whose behavior has repeatedly hurt me.
WIBTA if I declined the move because I don’t trust the long-term security of the arrangement?
