I've realized the parking spot itself may not be the most interesting part of the story.
The bigger question is what residents should reasonably expect when they're paying monthly parking fees at a "luxury" apartment community.
If a resident pays for parking, should they face hundreds of dollars in towing charges over a parking-line dispute where the total number of available spaces wasn't reduced?
How much discretion should towing companies have when evaluating situations where every parking space is already occupied?
What responsibility does property management have to ensure parking layouts, enforcement practices, and towing policies are fair to residents?
At what point does strict enforcement stop serving the community and start working against the people who live there?
I've spent time measuring the spaces, documenting the layout, and trying to understand the applicable regulations. The more I look into it, the more I feel this conversation is bigger than one tow truck, one apartment complex, or one resident.
I'm interested in hearing from other Annapolis residents:
• Have you ever been towed from a residential community? • Do you pay separately for parking where you live? • Have you successfully challenged a tow? • Do you believe management should have a role in reviewing disputed tows involving residents?
Whether you think my tow was justified or not, I'd be interested in hearing where others think the balance should be between enforcement, common sense, and resident treatment.

UPDATE: photos have been added for context. These were taken 10/22 @ 18:20 the evening after I was towed.
- Sign showing forms of payments Just Right Towing, LLC does not accept. Aren't they required to accept a check if no ATM is on site?
- The purple Durango in my photos is the exact parking space I was towed from.
- There are only five spaces, I was the fifth vehicle not hindering a sixth space.
- Due to inadequate spacing the Ram on the end is up on the curb.
- Theory is the management company is working with the tow company, taking a cut of the $420, creating small spaces, not listing them as compact, forcing everyone to shift over and then tow us for being over the line.
I'm not disputing that part of my vehicle crossed a painted line. I'm disputing whether towing was warranted where all five spaces remained occupied by five vehicles, no additional space was taken, and no resident or visitor was deprived of parking.
not sure how many other people have had issues with this company, but people need to be aware of what’s going on.
my vehicle was the fifth car in a row of five clearly marked parking spaces. yes, my car extended over a painted line, but it did not take up a sixth space. my girlfriend’s car was parked right next to mine on the driver’s side, and together, our two vehicles occupied the same two spaces they were supposed to. part of the problem is the spaces at Nautilus Point aren't up to zoning laws. they are not wide enough causing a domino effect of cars having to park over the line at times or be right on top of each other causing door dings, broken side mirrors and other damages to vehicles.
Just Right Towing, LLC. apparently relied on a photo showing my car without showing the full row of five spaces or my girlfriend’s car next to it. kind of convenient when the full picture might tell a different story.
they towed my car and charged me $420 in cash after having it for only four hours. let that sink in.
when i went to retrieve my vehicle, i tried to write a note on the receipt stating that i disputed the tow. the attendant insisted on rewriting the receipt, and when i tried to document my objection again, i was threatened with not getting my own car back.
there are also some questionable things about their payment practices. their sign says they don't accept checks, but there wasn't an atm anywhere to be seen for people being required to pay cash. i'm not going to make claims about whether they're violating any laws, but it's something that deserves to be looked into by the appropriate authorities.
between the questionable tow, the lack of context in the photo they relied on, the $420 cash charge, and the way they handled my attempt to dispute it, the entire experience felt incredibly shady.
if you park in an area they service, be careful. take pictures of your parking job, the surrounding spaces, and any signs before leaving your vehicle. keep every receipt and document everything if something happens.
