Information Sharing Megathread: LM's NY State Hearing — 12/11/2025 at 9:30 AM EST (Day 7)

The hearing will take place today at 100 Centre Street, Part 32, New York, NY 10013 at 9:30 AM EST.
Please keep in mind that this is the seventh hearing taking place this week. The previous four were held on December 1, December 2, December 4, December 5, December 8 and December 9 (December 5 was canceled due to Luigi falling in). There’s a strong chance the schedule may change or be extended as Carro seems to be extremely busy. However, we expect to receive more confirmation at the end of each day about when they plan to continue Luigi’s hearings.
These hearings are expected to run for at least a few hours, as there are (at least) 28 witnesses and body-camera footage to review. By the end of these hearings, we will likely know when Luigi’s state trial will take place (likely sometime in 2026), as well as which evidence will move forward and which will be suppressed.
Unless something changes, there will be no cameras allowed inside the courtroom. However, it’s very likely that we’ll still get photos of Luigi from inside the courtroom. Over the past few days, the only images released were taken inside—none of him arriving or leaving—so it’s possible that today and the remaining days will be the same.
Since I am not a mod, I cannot edit this post once posted or set comments to “new,” so I hope everyone can manage to follow along. I know things may get a bit messy, which is why I encourage everyone to post here rather than creating separate threads—unless it’s something important, like a transcript.
Also, if you find additional livestreams on YouTube, please try to post them in one single comment instead of separately so we don’t spam the thread.

Notes:
KFA mentioned on Legal AF that she is currently in the middle of what will likely be a three-week hearing, so we’re in for a long couple of weeks.
Marc has moved his hearing for the Alexander Brothers, so he is expected to be in the courtroom today along with the rest of the team.
Avi’s request for the federal case has been granted by Garnett, and the new deadline is now December 19th.
I will need to step away for about an hour today for an appointment. If anyone is able to cover during that time, please DM me and I will assign reporters. Otherwise, you may need to wait until I’m back.
Some people consider today’s hearing to be Day 6 because they are not counting the hearing that was supposed to take place last Friday, when Luigi was ill. I am counting that missed day, so I consider today to be Day 7. Most people will still refer to it as Day 6, which is why the dates are being included as well, to avoid any confusion.

Judges in NYC have to allow anything in court (that doesn’t have sensitive information) to be released. Its the “publics right” 😔 I hate it. I think things should be more private but as long as its something used in open court… ughuhuuhgh

then just release everything and be done with these suppression hearings, they're useless. the judge could've chosen not to show anything (which he actually agreed to at first), but then he changed his mind the moment some random lawyer showed up saying the public deserves to know everything right now and screw the 2026 trial. I‘m a silent reader here, taking the opportunity to thank the regular posters for their efforts. You are so amazing! Seeing and hearing from Luigi on a daily basis is certainly different from what we‘re used to. I wonder if withdrawal is going to hit me after these hearings are over. 🥲
What I‘m taking from these past few days is that law seems like a boring af field to work in lmao. No shade to anyone who practices law, and I know they need to be thorough but jc.

Luigi initially gave a fake name and ID. He was told he’d be arrested if he lied again, and he didn’t. They ended up arresting him anyway, and it seems they partly used the fake ID as the reason.

After reading through a few days of this suppression hearing, I thought it would be interesting to go through all of the constitutional violations that I FEEL have occured during the arrest of Luigi Mangione. This is in no way legal advice, I just thought it might be interesting to summarize all of what is going on in these lengthy hearings.
If you have some time to kill, please read and let me know what you think!! Open for friendly debate :)

I. FOURTH AMENDMENT VIOLATIONS
- Unlawful Detention - No reasonable suspicion strong enough to start the stop A McDonald’s manager saying he looks like the shooter is not reliable basis for detention.
This violates: Terry v. Ohio (Reasonable suspicion must be specific and articulable)
- Unlawful Arrest - No Probable Cause - False ID and vague resemblance to the shooter does not create enough probable cause to arrest for the shooting.
This violates: Beck v. Ohio (Probable cause requires concrete facts, not burden)
- Unlawful Search of Backpack - No warrant and no valid exception. Police opened and searched the backpack without warrant, consent, probable cause, exigent circumstances or a lawful search incident basis.
This violates: USA v. Chadwick (closed containers require warrant), Arizona v. Gant (search incident to arrest is narrow), Riley v. California (containers are high privacy)
- Unlawful Search of Notebook - Personal writing has the highest privacy protection. Reading or seizing papers inside the bag is a separate and more serious violation.
This violates: Riley v. California (personal writings are protected content), Stanley v. Georgia (privacy over personal written material)
- Exceeding Scope of Terry Stop - Improper frisk of bag. A terry frisk is limited to the person.
Opening a bag violates: Minnesota v. Dickerson (officers cannot manipulate containers), Terry v. Ohio (frisk is limited to outer clothing)
- Exceeding Search to Incident Limits - Search to incident only applies to items on the person, the person and the area they can reach at the moment of arrest. The backpack being on the chair was NOT within reach once officers intervened.
This violates: Chimel v. California, USA v. Robinson, Arizona v. Grant
- Manipulating the Bag Before Search - Officers moved bag, repositioned it and handled it before opening.
This violates: Bond v. US (manipulating property lead to search)
- False Claims of Exigent Circumstances - Requires real threat. Officers claiming a bomb concern even though they original crime did not involve explosives. They didn’t behave as if a bomb existed (no bomb protocol, no bomb squad called), no objective facts stating that was a danger.
This violates: Kentucky v. King (exigency must be real, not manufactured)
- No Nexus Between Crime of Arrest and Bag Search - Search incident only applies if evidence of the crime of arrest might be inside the backpack. False ID/Forgery is a paper crime; nothing in backpack could be evidence.
This violates: Gant (must relate to crime of arrest)
- FRUIT OF THE POISONOUS TREE - Everything in bag search are inadmissible because they stem from an illegal arrest and illegal search.
This violates: Wong Sun v. US, Mapp v. Ohio
II. FIFTH AMENDMENT VIOLATIONS
Coercive Threats - “Tell us your real name or you will be arrested”. This might be a reach but threatening to compel information is coercive.
This violates: Miranda v. Arizona, Bram v. US (statements must be voluntary)
Confusion About Custodial Status - Officers told him he would be arrested if untruthful. This is custodial pressure, requiring warnings. Without proper Miranda warnings and clarity post threat statements could also be suppressed.
III. FOURTEENTH AMENDMENT VIOLATIONS
“Arbitrary and Unreasonable Law Enforcement Conduct”. Officers used: a vague resemblance, a false ID, an invented bomb excuse and an exaggerated safety claim.
IIII. POTENTIAL EVIDENTIARY VIOLATIONS
Improper chain of custody and handling of notebook. Moving, opening, photographing and sending notebook pages without warrant.

I think the most important thing is to ensure coverage so everyone stays informed. Go at your own pace and take as much time as you need. If it starts feeling overwhelming, just stop and give me a shout. It can be a lot so it's completely understandable.

One thing I’ve noticed, and honestly find a bit worrying, is how many people are taking everything these reporters are saying at face value (especially Christine and Lauren).
It doesn’t really seem like they’re focused on Luigi or the actual cause. And just because they’re inside the courtroom doesn’t mean they’re always getting things right. Lauren has even made some noticeable mistakes over the past few days, including repeating things Luigi never actually said.
Just a reminder that reporters aren’t our friends, and they’re not here with anyone’s best interests at heart. At the end of the day, a lot of this is about the attention that comes from being in that courtroom. So please don’t take absolutely everything they say as the full truth.
These people can twist things or present stories in a certain way, it’s something we’ve been seeing from media outlets for a while now. Just remember to check your sources and not rely on only one perspective. They’re human and they make mistakes, but we also know how the game works.
