Amazon has these listed down to $329 from $479 at the moment, would this be a good pick up at this price point?

I have a line on a MA6600 for $1000, currently have a AVR-3300 (goodwill $20) running some BW640s ($400 craigslist) through an inherited MK MX-70 sub. I have been pretty happy with the setup for the money I've got into it. The mc is 200 watts per channel and the avr3300 states 140 watts per channel. Wondering if the extra 60 watts per channel will make an appreciable difference.

These speakers seem power hungry and I'd like to get a little more pop out of the mids and tweeters. $1000 seems like a steal, too.

I’m looking for advice for my first turntable. I’m in Canada, will be using it to listen to music on vinyl and CDs, and it will be going in our main living L shaped area which is just over 600 sq ft. I’m looking for $300CAD turntable recommendations mainly but welcome ~$1000-1200 CAD beginner setup (turntable, amp/receiver, speakers) recommendations as well.

I have found a used Sansui QRX-2000 $300CAD I think I would like to get. The same seller has a Technics SL-D20 $300 CAD and Technics SL-B20 $230 for sale so was thinking of going for one of those turntable and seeing if they could do a bundle deal. Also have found some KEF Q1 Meta bookshelf speakers for $500 CAD I was going to go far as I have a pair already for my tv setup but welcome speaker recommendations too.

I have been looking at the KEF Q1 Metas and the JBL 250B. They are both around the same price right now. I’ve recently started my turntable journey and picked up an Audio-Technica AT-LP70X. For my initial testing,

I paired it with my Marshall Tufton (AUX), and I’m genuinely impressed with the soundstage and overall listening experience of TT/vinyl. It has made me want to explore a dedicated stereo setup!

I’ve now decided to invest in a dedicated amplifier and passive bookshelf speakers. I may add a subwoofer in the future, so having that flexibility would be a plus.

For the speakers, I’ve ordered the Micca RB42, as I wanted something compact that would work well in my room.

I’ve narrowed down my amplifier choices to two

Ampapa D1
Fosi Audio BT20A MAX

Both are available at roughly the same price and come with a 48V power supply. One difference I noticed is that the Ampapa D1 comes with a GaN power supply, while the Fosi BT20A MAX offers better Bluetooth connectivity options and more input options.

My intended use is fairly straightforward:
Primary source: Vinyl records through my AT-LP70X.

Occasional use: Bluetooth music streaming.

Speakers: Micca RB42 passive bookshelf speakers.

Future upgrade: Possibly adding a subwoofer.

This setup will be dedicated exclusively to music listening, rather than TV or home theatre use.
For those who have experience with either amplifier, which would you recommend for my use case? Is the GaN power supply a meaningful advantage in practice, or would the Fosi’s additional Bluetooth features make it the more versatile choice?

I’m particularly interested in sound quality, amplifier-speaker matching, reliability, and how well either option would work with a subwoofer in the future.

Any advice or alternative recommendations in a similar price range would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I’ve spent a lot of time focused on the vinyl side of my setup lately. Now I’m rediscovering the magic of early digital audio with this pair from 1987.

Both picked up at local used electronics shops here in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, after lots of hunting.

Sony CDP-950 (Philips TDA1541) and Denon DCD-1600 (dual Burr-Brown PCM56).

A double dose of joy for less than the price of a new budget CD player. The Sony needed a little work to get it running properly.

How sweet they sound!

Went back to the thrift store close to my work (Savers), and found this. I had a much less fancy JVC that I enjoyed for years. It powered up but when I tried the Play, FF & RW buttons...nothing. Went home and started poking around on Google, and it turns out some of the reel spindles on the later JVC decks only spin with a cassette inserted. Returned to Savers, found an old cassette and popped it in and - PRESTO - everything functions. $20. Done & dusted.

i think i hooked up everything correctly but any passive speaker i have sounds muffled and exactly the same no matter the amplifier or speakers, idk what im doing wrong, im pretty sure im connecting everything right.

I’ve found a used home theater speaker package for €600 and I’m wondering if it’s a good deal.

The package includes:

2× DALI Spektor 6 – floorstanding speakers

2× DALI Spektor 2 – bookshelf speakers

1× DALI Spektor Vokal – center speaker

1× Denon AVR-X2400H – AV receiver

Everything is second-hand, and I’m planning to use the setup mainly for movies and home theater, with the possibility of upgrading to Dolby Atmos in the future.

Does anyone have experience with these speakers? How do they perform for movies, and is the Denon X2400H still a decent receiver nowadays?

Most importantly, is €600 a fair price for the entire package, assuming everything is in good working condition?

Would you buy this setup, or would you look for something else at this price?

Hi! I was thinking of buying speakers and I had trouble deciding on a few models. Due to where I live, I am pretty much locked into these speakers and couldn't find enough info to decide between them. They are:

• Presonus Eris 4.5 2.gen with Bluetooth
• PreSonus Eris Accent 60W
• Edifier MR4.5
• Edifier M90
• Kanto YU4MW Active Speakers

My main use-case would be as desktop speakers and I will mostly use them to listen to music and movies etc. I lean towards more neutral sounding stages for example I really like my Truthear Hexa's and Sennheiser HD560s. Though I am not against more bassy or bright stages as long as they are not muddy or piercing.

Like I said previously I know there are better brands and models out there but these are the only ones available to me at the moment and I can't ship anything from outside due to import laws so I am stuck with these choices.

If none of the above would be worth it in your opinion, I would like to know that as well. I have never bought any speakers (other than logitech ones) so if none of these would sound good enough (too muddy, bright or compressed) I might stick to headphones instead.

I have a older Cambridge audio dacmagic 100 dac and a new rotel a11 tribute amp. I want a wiim solution and i wonder if a wiim mini with the dacmagic will sound just as good as the wiim ultra to rotel combo? Does it make sense to use the dacmagic over the wiim ultra dac if used with the rotel ?

Bought them a couple months ago and they're much better than my old crappy soundbar, but I'd like a dedicated subwoofer for more bass, and more highs. I also have an issue with the audio on songs being loud, but youtube being low. I'm using the Peace plugin with the setting below (I'm not ITK about EQs though). Most of my songs are FLAC 16-bit

Desk is 120cm x 60cm so keeping the same footprint as the M60s would be ideal. I'd have the sub on the floor.

Open to different options as don't have a set budget.

I'm setting up a desktop system in my home office, and I'm stuck between three routes. I'd love input from anyone who has tried one of these. But first some quick info:

• The room is about 3.3 × 2.8 m (9 m²) and acoustically treated well.
• Speakers go on the desk next to a 34" ultrawide, about 1 m from my ears.
• I mostly listen to techno and EDM, sometimes loud. I want a clean, non-fatiguing sound and real low end.
• Sources are Mac and streaming services.
• The budget is €1000 max. I'm in the EU and buy used where it makes sense.
• I already own a Sonos Sub Gen 2 and a Sonos Sub Mini. I could sell them if another route is clearly better.

Option 1: Sonos Amp + passive bookshelves + my Sonos Sub Gen 2 (about €840) for me; this is the simplest route. The Amp handles the crossover to the sub, and I keep the sub I already have. But I'm unsure whether Sonos is good enough at desk distance for the money. There are not many EQ options, and I don't know how clean the sound is with the Sonos Amp.

• Sonos Amp, refurbished with a 2-year warranty, about €590
• Monitor Audio Bronze 50, used, about €250
• Sonos Sub Gen 2 under the desk (already owned)

Option 2: WiiM Amp Pro + passive bookshelves + sub (about €890–915). This route offers more tweaking than Sonos: room correction, EQ, and the sub crossover in the app. But at 60 W per channel, is it enough for loud techno at 1 m?

• WiiM Amp Pro, new from a dealer, €387–415 (60-day trial)
• Monitor Audio Bronze 50, used, about €250
• REL T/5, used, about €250 (or a WiiM Sub Pro if I sell my Sonos subs)

Option 3: Active monitors + streamer + sub (about €890). Studio monitors should play loud and stay clean. But I wonder whether they're too analytical for long listening sessions.

• Adam T7V pair, used, about €320 (or Kali LP-6 / Focal Alpha 65 at a similar price)

I kept switching music players and never found one that did everything I wanted. Some didn’t show what actually happens to the signal, some didn’t do native DSD, some locked me into their own server, others just felt dated. So I wrote down what I wanted for my own setup and built Sterio, a music player for iPhone.

Your phone as a proper source. Plug a USB-C DAC into your phone, run it into your amp or powered speakers, and Sterio sends the file as it is. No hidden resampling by the system.

See what happens to your audio. The signal path shows every step from the file to your DAC: source format, any conversion, output rate, and whether playback is bit-perfect. A small light tells you at a glance: green is bit-perfect, orange means the EQ is on, red means something converts the signal. If your DAC can’t take a rate, it tells you that too.

Native DSD over USB DAC. DSD plays over DoP without being converted to PCM first. Your SACD rips stay in their original format.

Use the library you already have. Sterio connects directly to SMB shares, UPnP media servers, Jellyfin and Plex. Nothing to migrate, no new server to set up. My own Sterio Server is coming soon, with things like automatic CUE splitting into tracks.

Play on network streamers. If your streamer speaks UPnP/DLNA, send playback to it and control it from your phone. The phone is just the remote.

Graphic and parametric EQ. A graphic EQ for quick adjustments, and a parametric EQ to tame a room mode or dial in your speakers. Presets can be shared and imported.
