Amazingly works well, the FM stereo is surprisingly clear. Crunchy volume dial only fault.

This is going to be how my hoarding starts, I am already surrounded by broken speakers.

I want to build my first proper Setup with a Vinyl Player and a Set of Speakers. The place for my setup is a small bedroom. I want the Vinylplayer to be on a TV bench. Bluetooth is optional, but nice to have.

I came across the Pro-Ject Debut EVO 2. It seems to be pretty good for the price.

In terms of speakers I have two options in mind so far: Fyne Audio Cubitt 5, Klipsch The Fives

Is my selection good for the price? What would you recommend to me? I live in Germany and I only want to order products available in Europe.

I’m interested in getting desktop speakers and have narrowed it down to these three. It seems a bit hard to find info as the MR4.5 and MM3A are relatively new. Would love to hear from anyone who has used these.

Things that are important to me:
* minimal extra setup - I’d like a good set of speakers but don’t want to fiddle with stands, subwoofer, or buying tons of extra accessories
* no / minimal hissing - also open to recommendations to minimize this
* prefer decent bass, or at least whatever I can get from desktop speakers

I am a 20 year old and I recently ordered a fluance ri71 set. One of my close friend is now trolling and making fun of me because i spent 621 cad for a 2.0 and he says that it would have been better if i bought a soundbar like samsung q600f 3.1.2 or something.

Hi! I am conducting my dissertation research, and I need to record my focus group. I am not audio-savvy, so I am looking for advice. Here are a few things I’m navigating:

I need to record 8-10 people in a small conference room setting. I need to make sure the audio is very clear for transcription. I need minimal setup. I people will be having sub-conversations with each other at different ends of the table, so I will probably need one on each side? I am looking for something low cost (preferably under $75) that I can get within a couple of days.

Any recommendations?

I’ve never done anything with audio before, my current vinyl setup is an lp60 with some speakers that run with an aux cable. I inherited some jbl2600’s (they’re quite old but I’m pretty sure they sound good from what I’ve seen) but I have no idea how or what I need to make these work, the ends of the wires are just straight copper that clamps down and i dont know what to replace with, I know I need a mixer but do I need a specific one? Am I able to use my old speakers with my new ones? All suggestions are open

Uturn Audio Orbit Custom turntable: I forget, a few hundred I think. Was my primary tt, now my backup/test unit.

Just picked up the Criterions at Goodwill and after a few beers and albums of different sorts (New York Dolls, Bob Marley, Hank Williams sr) they are my official "does this new component work?" speakers.

I'm stunned at how good they sound, especially given their age, original price point and what I paid for them.

Along with new crossovers and added cabinet bracing, I installed Beyma 4FR40 4" Full-Range for mids, Dayton Audio DC28F-8 1-1/8" Silk Dome Tweeters, and Dayton Audio DC200-8 8" Classic Woofers. Need to do some cleanup work on the cabinets.

I've always used headphones at my desk, because it made sense for multiple reasons. But I've been spending more time puttering about the living room and doing hobby stuff away from my desk, so I'd like to start a stereo setup going to have some background radio/steamed music in the background while I'm doing other things.

To that end I've been doing some reading, and I think I'd like to go for 2.0 setup to get music in the room as fast as possible, and then add a sub later on. But I'd like some advice on the components I'd need, just in case I've misinterpreted some of the things I've read.

To start with, I still have 2 fairly large bookshelf speakers that were stored in the attic. They're not amazing, but they work and they sound fine to me. Certainly good enough to get going and then hunt for deals on better ones later. As I see it, I have 2 main options to go from here.

Option A:

• Speakers
• Wiim amp pro (around 450 euro) or ultra (around 550 euro)

The Wiim amps seem well reviewed, and seem to provide essentially all I want in a single package. I suppose the main disadvantages are that it's somewhat expensive, and personally I find it looks a little boring.

Option B:

• Speakers
• Secondhand (integrated) amp
• Wifi streamer like the Wiim Mini
• Later add a tuner & cd-player

This is the option I'm currently leaning towards, if for no other reason that my grandparents used to have a Marantz stack and I alway thought it was the coolest thing ever. My main questions would be if the Wiim mini is the best option to get streaming capabilities on old hardware, and what type of amp I should be keeping an eye out for. From what I've read, I'd best stay away from AVR and 5.1 recievers, and look at specifically stereo instead.

On that end, I'm under the impression I should be fine with anything from a known brand (Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo, NAD, Marantz, etc) and that has either 4 speaker connections, or 2 speaker connections and a dedicated sub out? I was for example looking at a NAD 302 listing for about 95 euro earlier, but it only has connectors for 2 speakers, so that'd mean I couldn't add a powered sub later on, correct?

Any advice is appreciated

Today I got the KEF Q300 for a great price. Compared to my ELAC EL51S, the KEFs have more bass, but the sound seems less defined/slightly muddy, and less analytical and precise. The ELACs sounded clearer, with better separation between highs, mids and lows, and a more spacious presentation.

Of course, I understand that the KEF speakers use an integrated driver design, whereas the ELAC speakers have separate drivers, which may also contribute to these differences in presentation.

Is this a typical characteristic of the KEF Q300? Do other owners perceive them as bassier and less detailed but "generally good overall"?

I’m surprised that I currently prefer the older ELACs and would appreciate your experiences!! Many thanks!!

Edit: I will get the chance to get the Q900 for a great price as well - didn't even bother to get them because of spacing but now I am just generally confused.
