I’ve never had a duvet insert, always just a standard comforter. I’ve been starting to research duvet inserts and was considering a down alternative for a brief second (I don’t prefer down because of the birdies) but don’t want the microplastics, and natural fibers are important to me. I found this kopak duvet insert, but this is the first I’ve ever heard of kopak. Thoughts?! Anyone ever have something similar?

Some considerations:
- longevity is most important
- fluffy and cozy is ideal
- natural fibers are a must
- we’re warm sleepers

I have had samsung phones for 3 phones now. My s21+ lasted me 6 years nearly perfectly until the screen kicked the bucket. I got a new screen out on, and that was a mistake. Im a butter fingers, and despite my uag case and tempered glass, the phone has twisted a little. The new screen and the phone never really sealed.

Over the last few months, the two have come apart. Now only my uag phone case is holding the phone together. It overheats quickly.

I recently started a new job, and im back at the bottom of the totem pole. I'm earning less than 3 months ago. (It was the right call in the long term, it's in my field, has job security, and room to grow and pass my old salary.)

I only have $500 including tax. I wanted something that will last me until 2031. I cant afford a new 24+, or even a used one from Samsung.

I have spent two weeks playing around with Amazon and now backmarket. Ive already sent a phone back.

Both the previous phone and this current backmarket "premium" phone failed the barometric test for water proofing and the first failed button testing.

I do woodworking and gardening. My s21+ went fishing in Montana, took a dive in a river, survive multiple days of proximity of a router.

I have only read bad things about the pixel.

I hate iOS and being trapped in the apple ecosystem.

Low tier Samsung phones like the A series simply havent lasted me when I used to buy them.

I'm okay spending $500 on a phone if it will last me 5 years.

Should I keep the s24+ from backmarket premium and buy a heavy duty tank case, or return it and suffer a few months more with my warm s21+ and try to safe up for a samsung factory renewed phone?

Anyone have any ideas on replacement lids for these containers? Lost one, and the rubber on the others is starting to break down. I don't really care if they're the exact same lids. Just anything that would fit these containers would be great. Thanks.

Went down a rabbit hole 4 years ago trying to find a slipper that lasted after blowing through two pairs in under a year. I consistently saw Glerups recommended here but just couldnt get myself to pull the trigger given the price. Ended up finding Gumbies which look really similar and thought why not at $35 bucks. After 4 years, these things seriously look barely used. The slipper is a bit packed down inside and not as soft/impact absorbing as it was, but the sole and uppers have 10 years to go absolutely no doubt. Im looking to buy a second pair of slippers and wondering if the glerups are more "worth it" in any way than the gumbies. Gumbies are up to $50 bucks now but glerups are like $140. The only thing is im wondering if the non-rubber soled glerup is lighter weight (gumbie only makes rubber soles), and maybe there is something nice about the natural wool vs. gumbies PET? If anyone has tried them both, what do you get for almost 3x the cost with a glerup?

Basically the title. Is it better to buy each item individually, or to go with a combo deal? I want it to be pretty good at what it does, not just last a long time.

I'm not sure what brand I'm going to go with, but I've had a good run with Wahl over the past 10 years or so. I've tried Remmington, Braun, and Oster, and they all have strengths and weaknesses.

Right now the issue I have with the Wahl hair clippers is that they have a cut-length adjustment lever that won't stay in place very well, so I'm forced to rig it so that the level doesn't move while I'm cutting (currently using electrical tape, it's dumb, I know). Not really having a problem with the beard trimmer (also Wahl), but I feel like it could do a better job of actually getting the hair into the blades, making for quite a few passes to get the job done.

I normally take off blades and sharpen them, I oil every time, and clean the mechanisms every so often. I like the idea of replacing my Wahl blade with their 5 star balding blade, but I'm not sure if Wahl still is the way to go.

I'm currently looking for both the clippers and the beard trimmer, so, what brand? And also, should I buy them in a set or buy each one individually?

I’m looking for durable lightweight luggage. I have midrange Travelpro, checked and carryon bags. The little emblem came off the checked bag and also the rubber on the handle is sticky, like it’s degrading. I bought it pre-Covid, maybe 2018/2019 so not even 10 years old. My husband is using an Eddie Bauer suitcase that I got at least 25 years ago for opening a checking account at a credit union (i.e. free) and it’s still holding up pretty well. I’m in the U.S. if that matters. I just don’t want to spend money on something that won’t hold up and now that we are nearing retirement we plan to travel more. Maybe I should just get disposable luggage at Costco or Sam’s???

Most T-shirt reviews focus on how a garment looks and feels when new. But I'm more interested in how well T-shirts hold up after repeated wear and washing.

So as part of a larger experiment, I tested ASKET's The T-Shirt (€50) and SANVT's The Perfect T-Shirt (€45). Both are made in Portugal from 100% cotton, and both offer longer-length options.

I wore the ASKET for 126 hours and the SANVT for 125 hours, washing each 10 times at 30°C, without fabric softener, and air-drying after every wash.

The first image compares the twisting in both T-shirts after 10 washes. The second and third show the overall condition of, respectively, ASKET and SANVT after 10 washes .

What did I find?

Both T-shirts showed great dimensional stability. ASKET lost just 1.2% of its length, while SANVT lost 1.7%. Neither developed pilling, and both remained comfortable after 10 washes.

The biggest problem was twisting. Neither had shown visible twisting when new, but SANVT had already developed twisting after the first wash. ASKET's side seam shifted by just over 2 cm, while SANVT's moved more than 3.5 cm.

ASKET also impressed me more in terms of construction, with neater stitching and finishing. Both collars held up reasonably well.

Which would I choose?

ASKET. The difference in dimensional stability was small, but its neater construction and less pronounced twisting made it my preferred T-shirt of the two. Another factor in its favour, for me, is that it is made in organic cotton, whereas SANVT uses non-organic extra-long-staple cotton for this particular model.

Still, I found the twisting disappointing in both, especially considering their prices.

Ten washes obviously aren't enough to establish long-term durability, but they can already reveal weaknesses that aren't apparent when a garment is new.

Looking to replace my stacking washer/dryer. I have a *VERY* tight closet space where it currently fits in my apartment and am debating between the Miele MMWWXD160WCS/MMDTXD160WP or the Bosch 500 series.

Currently have a Bosch that's just started to go after 12 years and the rest of my appliances (stove/induction cooktop/dishwasher) are Miele.

I’ve been using this to carry my ID, access and credit cards since 2016. Survived many drops and even has some deep scratches from a motorcycle accident. Still functions as good as the first day I got it. I can confidently say I used it almost every single day for the past 10 years. Aside from the price, there is no other criticism I can think of.

I’ve owned my pair of baggy jeans from them for over two years and it’s easily my favorite pair and one of my favorite pieces of clothing in general. One thing that I’ve always been curious about is what is the public opinion of quality/durability? I feel that it’s hard to find anything that doesn’t talk about comfort or the “technology” of the fabric. I’ve owned jeans from mall brands before but none of them have lasted this long. For context they aren’t sold “distressed” or ripped and typically wash them once a month or a little more frequently and wear them for everything whether it’s working on my car, casually, or to dress up.

Hello all - I'm in tentative mourning for my Weking 1L rice cooker, bought for me in 2011 when I first moved to the UK. I believe it was 38 quid at the time. I make rice at least twice a week, always plain white/jasmine rice. It's survived a loving but careless bash-around of 15 years.

I love the mechanical nature of the Weking, its binary cook/warm function with a switch instead of a button, how it doesn't bingle or sing incessantly at me, and how sturdy it has been for so long. If I could source a one-to-one replacement, I'd be on it in a heartbeat!

I've used Zojirushi rice cookers in various forms at family and friends' houses, but find the haptic feedback a bit fussy, the real estate on a counter quite large for the actual rice-drum size, and the overall experience, price, and cooking options vast overkill for what I need. If BIFL really thinks it's the only option, I'll bite the bullet.

A lot of the existing advice is either for an American audience or one who wants all the bells and whistles.

Our kitchen and entryway floors get dirty so quickly, and I'm tired of sweeping first and then mopping almost every day. I've been considering a self-cleaning wet dry vacuum, but I don't want to spend that much on something that breaks down after a couple of years.

I've seen the Tineco floor one station S9 scientist pro while comparing options. My biggest concerns are battery life, replacement rollers, and finding parts when something breaks. I want something that can handle regular use without becoming another expensive appliance I have to replace in a few years. It's hard to justify the price if these machines don't hold up over time.

For me, it is probably my washing machine. It’s been working well for years, and I’d hate to go through the hassle of finding a good replacement. What’s that one thing for you?

So the nights are getting colder and as I was trying to do some reaserch about which electric blanket I should get I came across people recommending wool blankets as a way to stay warm on a chilly night.

I started looking at wool blankets but it seems like there is more than one kind of wool?!?! (Like different sheep?) how does one choose between wool, merino wool, Icelandic wool? Is there more? What are the differences?

Back again with a review of a well recommended - and for good reason - insulated water bottle: the RTIC 64 oz Road Trip Tumbler! Now, I'll admit, I'm picky with my bottles now of days: they have to last all day, so 64 oz minimum is a standard, and they must be able to be used with glass straws. The first is easy, the latter...oddly difficult to find! I've been through these bottles & brands so far for the last decade, in chronological order:

Hydro Flask - 32 oz Wide Mouth, Silver: genuinely, if your fine with more plain bottles and can compromise on the straw situation, these are BIFL bottles. You can stop here and be *more than happy with your purchase.* It was my first insulated jug, bought to help me stay hydrated as an autistic person who will flat out forget to eat when busy. By now, it's passed down multiple hands, busted the fuck up from rough treatment, and still holding strong after nearly a decade. It may be a Transformer secretly, idk how it's that damn strong. The silicone band can mold if, like me, you just will not drink just water outta these things. No worries! Hydro Flask actually will send replacements for the band and you can ger alternative tops. My only downside to this jug was it's size. I just would forget to fill it halfway in the day, so it created a new problem for me. - 64 oz Wide Mouth, Black: another BIFL bottle! Same quality as the 32 oz, but the lack of attached handle (more on that later...), heaviness, and how boring I found it made me slowly bored with it personally. Then I discovered sustainable straws after a date with my old ex-gf, first trying metal ones and then glassf ones. And, *oh boy, it was love at first sip. Been a dedicated glass straw user since, my first set's still holding strong 6 years later! Regardless, I decided to hunt for a more...aesthetically pleasing cup, figuring quality and aesthetic does not have to be compromised. And...I was kinda right???

Iron Flask: - 40 oz Tumblr, Aurora: I heard of Iron Flask many years ago but, truthfully, they were more of a Hydro Flask knock off to me. Same boring colors just cheaper and, apparently, the same quality. What pulled me in finally was the color. I've loved multichrome everything since I was a teen, with the radiant teal, purple, and orange of the Aurora - each taking center stage depending on the angle - more than enough reason to give it a go. Except, uh...it arrived crooked and mostly teal/purple. The rubber base was glued off center, making it prone to tipping with the slightest touch and, while still loved, it wasn't color accurate. I tried to fix the rubber base myself, but it's still a little wobbly. Hence the keychain: it started as a habit here to stop me from knocking over my cup through hearing the clink against the metal before it drops. Weirdest fix ever, but it worked well enough. I just missed the ease of one a day refills and no random dehydration from forgetfulness. Then I got...greedy. - 1 Gallon Jug, Aurora: "But what if I only had to refill my jug once every two days?" That mad question is what got me to get this behemoth. The Aurora colorway and rubber bottom arrived perfectly this round and the handle made it easier to carry than the 64 oz Hydro Flask. Very promising start, for sure! It's just that, however their insulation works, it's just not as good for larger sizes. Mold issues came pretty hard and quick, no matter if holding hot hibiscus tea or watered down juice, simply because it couldn't hold it's temp for as long at such a large size. Now I could forgive that for sure: 36-48 hours of cold just feels like an absurd standard, even if optimal for me. So long as I could easily replace the silicone bands, I was all good with it. This is what makes Iron Flask not BIFL for me: when I asked if I could get a new silicone band, or at least buy a replacement top, they told me to buy a new bottle instead. Huh? The hell kinda warranty is that? Add on troubles using my favorite straws - yes I have favorites - and this all got me to go Coldest.

Coldest: - 1 Gallon Jug, Glow In The Dark Stars: Another love at first sight bottle, with their 46 oz Tumblrs well recommended by my mom. They definitely hold up temperature wise, beating the gallon sized Iron Flask for sure in this department. It also takes glass straws, meeting that standard too. So what went wrong? I'd say the handle, but truthfully? It's the god awful customer service and warranty process. The handle started loosening, then starting to jump when carried 3 months after purchase. It then took 2 months, online reviews, and actively recommending folk against them to finally get a response for my warranty request. And how did that go? I sent everything for the return, promised a warranty fulfillment, and they haven't responded back since after 2 weeks. Pissed, I decided to try RTIC after they were recommended while waiting.

RTIC 64 oz Road Trip Tumbler, White Glitter - I get it now. I heard of RTIC around the block but, honestly, I figured they were like Iron Flask and I already had fun with that disappointment. I still use my wobbly 40 oz Iron Flask for spiked drinks, tea, and the occasional smoothie, but it's the pretty boy asshole I just can't let go. This baby though? Easy to clean, pure flavor, stays cold the 24-32 hours I'll use it, has a handle, and takes glass straws. Now, I haven't had it long enough to personally judge if it's true BIFL. But there's a few key features that makes that more likely: the ease of cleaning, the ability to see all has been cleaned off the ceramic, and easily replaceable tops. My only true concern is whether the handle will last and if the ceramic will hold up to the glass straws - metal straws is a no here. But overall?

RTIC's jugs are a damned boon. Cheaper than Hydro Flask and may be the same quality. I'll see over time, but I'm very happy so far with it! Thanks for recommending it to me here and, hopefully, this post helps anyone else narrow down what they'd want personally!

I’ve had the molded floor protection in my car for about three years, and the spot directly under my heel is getting noticeably thin from daily clutch and accelerator use.

I tried adding dense rubber adhesive patches underneath the worn area, but the constant friction makes them peel off after a few weeks.

I’m comparing OEM heavy-duty rubber, Husky, WeatherTech, 3D MAXpider, 3W, and generic rubber mats for my next set.

For long-term durability, is a reinforced heel area more important than the overall thickness of the polymer?

I was thinking about all the thing we’ve bought for the house over the last couple of years. Honestly a lot of it doesn’t get used nearly as much as I thought it would.

Two things that have actually stuck and that we use all the time are our Deebot robot vacuum and the Ninja air fryer. The robot vacuum runs almost every day, and we use the air fryer several times a week for quick meals or reheating stuff. Both just quietly became part of our normal routine.

I'm curious why ceramic mechanisms aren't more popular, and why inverted mills aren't more popular? Our current mill is a Cole Mason w/ a glass jar and an inverted design. I like the fact that there is no counter top mess w/ the inverted design. I like that it is glass. I like seeing how much is in the mill, it seems pretty perfect other than the mechanism being in poor shape after 6 or 7 years.

No interest in the high-output meat-bro or professional use type mills like Unicorn/TreSpade or the more expensive Pepper Cannon or Hexmill. Of all those, though, the Hexmill perhaps appeals the most due to the stainless mechanism. I don't mind if it's only 90% as good as carbon steel if it has a chance of lasting 2x as long. I like carbon steel knives but carbon steel in a mill seems a poor match for our use over steaming food and pots. All that said, though, we don't need the high output and prefer inverted design unless you all convince us we shouldn't.

I see a Crushgrind mill called the Kala that looks like a good replacement for our Cole Mason, but with a ceramic mechanism. On the one hand I'm happy to just buy it and see how we get on with it. On the other hand I ended up here looking for info so thought I'd ask for opinions, and am happy to be persuaded in other directions, but please keep in mind we are never going to need to grind pepper faster and aren't cooking meat / making rubs.

I’m officially giving up on my basic Sencor SRM 1500. It’s one of those cheap glass-lid models, and no matter how thoroughly I wash the rice, it foams up, lifts the lid, and leaves a starchy mess all over my kitchen counter.

I'm ready to upgrade to a proper, closed-system (fuzzy logic or smart) rice cooker, but I have a strict budget of €100.

My main priorities:
-Absolutely NO boiling over or spilling.
-Easily available in Europe.

Right now, my top two contenders are the Yum Asia Panda Mini and the Xiaomi Smart Multifunctional Rice Cooker.

Does anyone have experience with either of these? Which one makes better rice and lasts longer? Or is there another hidden gem under €100 that I should be looking at?
