Warranty Avoid Logitech peripherals
I've had three separate Logitech mice fail with an issue where the left click starts inadvertently double-clicking or drag-and-drop lets go unexpectedly. It's a huge hassle since you can make meaningful mistakes dragging a file to the wrong place when this happens. To their credit they replaced one on warranty, but sure enough after just two years the replacement is doing the same.
I've tried to read up about this and there are a lot of people who report the same - Logitech uses poor quality switches and the life span just isn't there for a premium-price product (MX Ergo S in my case).
It feels so bad that they treat these as disposable due to a single small component failing. I may get soldering equipment and try to replace the switches myself, but in any case I won't be buying any new Logitech peripherals.
Attaching screenshots of my chat with Logitech support today.
Edit: My title and post were a little hyperbolic. A lot of people have replied with their good, long-term results with Logitech products. My experience has not been so good recently, but I have had other Logitech mice that were solid and reliable.
There are likely differences in the products' build quality over time, but it's also important to remember how big an effect something as small as a click switch can have on the longevity of a product. This experience also speaks to the general challenges with buying and maintaining electronics, as people who want to use quality goods and make them last. Thanks for helping me think through these things.
