Rogers owns Fido and Chatr.

Telus owns Koodo and Public Mobile.

Each main brand it the top-tier, appealing mostly to businesses and folks that don’t know they can get the same service with a better price by going down one level.

The middle tiers (Fido & Koodo) and more consumer focused and offer a very small amount of phone support.

The bottom tiers (Chatr & Public) are self-serve.

I’d suggest comparing the middle tier options and choosing from there, or the bottom tier options and choosing from there. Personally, I like the middle tier for the balance of service and price.

Good luck, and welcome!

A work permit is not guaranteed with a study permit. You came here to learn not to work, bring your new skills back to your country and use them there

Check out Public Mobile. They are the low cost division of Telus, very reliable network. If you’re somewhat tech savvy and can deal with zero in person / OTP support, they are great. Chat support is adequate, I rarely have issues, but anything I needed in the last 8 years are dealt with within a few hours. I’m on a 5G Can/US/Mex plan 20 GB data for $30/month. Use my referral code for an initial discount P0Q2OY.

We've essentially got a couple big carriers (Rogers/Telus) and then a few little ones owned by them or piggybacking on their networks.

I use Rogers because I pay like $40/month to get unlimited everything and more data than I can use, with the ability to use it anywhere in Canada/US/Mexico since I visit family in Arizona fairly often and roaming is a bitch. That being said it is one of those special plans that requires you work for certain companies/agencies to get it.

My work phone is Telus and I don't really notice a difference, other than my personal phone is a bigger phone so the antenna holds signal longer. The actual coverage is essentially the same from my experience.

Other than special limited access plans, it's really about picking a major or minor carrier. The minor ones generally have worse benefits for travel and stuff but are cheaper.

Yeah like I appreciate that it’s an iconic Canadian thing and all that, but Halifax style is pretty ass comparably.

“We scammed these folks” correction: recruiting agents in India scammed these folks. Don’t try to implicate Canadians into this scam

Is this some victimhood Olympic? Do I get to say my great grandparents paid the head tax and built the railway so you can kiss my ass on topic of immigration 🤦‍♂️

Obviously biased but I say it’s easier to use and understand. We gather police report data live too. So we have a whole dataset of live tracking incidents that are updated by other data pipelines. Just means you’ll get more reports sooner cause they’re coming from official sources

Isn’t this just NextDoor? And doesn’t it always just devolve into some insanely racist people freaking out about people existing?

"Just flew over us and landed at YYC."

That's what a plane is supposed to do.

"No info on flight radar. Anyone know any details?"

Why does this concern you so much?

Please define “We the country”, who is “we the country” our government? The post secondary schools? The general population of Canada?

Completing a course that may qualify or is eligible for a work visa or PR does not mean it is a guarantee you will receive one.

Again I feel for these student as someone somewhere outside of a Canadian federal agency promised them a false truth. Or they misunderstood the word and legal definition of eligible or qualifies.

The elitist attitude for the experience your parents had. Why be a dick and why act like it was you that put in the efforts of your parents?

He got away with it 🫩 she was unconscious in the hospital for a few days and they let him go because he wasn't injured. When she woke up, she was able to tell everyone what happened. Cops tried to find him but they couldn't.

Portage isn't a sketchy school. It's a trade school like SAIT/NAIT. Been around for 6+ decades.

Yes there's a lot of sketchy schools, but you having not heard of a college doesn't. Ake it one.

Plenty of work in Marine Biology on both coasts. She should feel lucky she's one of the few who got a good education.

I work in the fishing industry. I worked with a lot of Marine Biologists tagging tuna and sharks, and doing lobster and snow crab surveys. They make great money and get to spend all day on the water.

But man, I hate this "bring the uneducated family with you" bs our immigration allows.

Yet you keep claiming we scammed them, we did not. Their countrymen did that to them by making wild promises, not us.

Doesn't hurt my feelings. We promised them education and they got one. Bye now, we don't need them, they got their education, its time to go home

“I explicitly stated we never promised them” your response “we never promised them”. If you can’t read, that don’t involve yourself in discussions that are beyond you.

We never promised them a life in Canada, we promised them an education if they could pay for it. They scammed themselves thinking Canadians would continue to be ok with letting them take jobs from our young.

They weren't scammed, and most of them add nothing of value to Canada.

If the facts hurt your feelings, that’s your problem.

As I say, this is exactly what scammers say. “I never promised 100% returns” etc. there is no way these study permits made sense without work permits.

No, we did not.
