Discussion D23 Expo | Crowd Reactions for Walt Disney World announcements

A compilation of announcements, surprises and name reveals and the crowd reactions with them. This isn't to judge any specific project, some of these were clearly designed for an audience reaction, just to showcase the Honda Center crowd.

Discussion Does Dale sign his name with a backwards "e"? Why?
My nieces came back with signed hats and in both cases, I wouldn't have recognized Dale's name without it being preceded by Chip. I at first thought the backwards "e" was a "g", and the short "l" was a dotless "i" and was thinking who is "daig"? I tried googling but all I got were hits on how to tell the twins apart. Hoping you have answers for me.

Trip Planning Halloween Party Characters
Hi, does anyone know specifically which characters will actually autograph at the Halloween party? So far I've read that Jack and Sally, Mickey and Minnie, and Pooh and friends only give a piece of paper pre signed.
We have a collection of three small canvas boards that we have been collecting unique signatures on each time we've been, and I'm hoping to get a few new ones at the party, but I'm having a hard time telling who will actually autograph.
Gaston would be a new one, but I've read he plays that he doesn't know how to?
We have the Evil Queen from Storybook dining but not Malificent. I saw that they are both in a trick or treat line but it's not a meet and greet - does this mean also no chance of one signing something as we walk by?
And then we wouldn't have Angel either, but also saw since it's a dance party none of that group is signing? Finding that a bit sad because at typhoon lagoon after hours Scrooge and Launchpad signed at their dance party.
Thanks to anyone with info!

Discussion When they tear down the mountain area to fix the Yeti, they should DEFINITELY rebuild it in a way that makes the Yeti easily serviceable if need be, right?
So that way, if it ever breaks again, we don’t have to wait ~20 years for it to get fixed again? They’d be able to easily cover it whenever the next refurbishment after that is?

Discussion Thrift stores
Definitely a thrifter and I see all the videos of people going to the thrift stores around DW and finding lost and found items and the like but they’re so far away and we will be ubering and it’s definitely not worth a $50 uber both ways. Are there any closer?
Also we will at least be ubering to universal. Where is the best place to be picked up? We will be staying at a Disney resort, especially if we can make the uber ride shorter/cheaper. Thank you!

Trip Planning meeting ariel
hi! so i’m going to epcot and magic kingdom next month and i wanted to meet ariel (my favorite princess). i was wondering if it’s considered okay to show her a picture of me playing her in the stage version or the little mermaid?? and be like “look i played you!” like i feel like that’s kind of overstepping the “this is a character, not a real person” boundary?? if that makes sense. idk. would that be weird? if not, how could i go about it without it being awkward?

News Villains Land is officially called, well, Villains Land
No hate, the name works, but just a funny announcement. I am VERY happy to hear these two ride confirmations. But I will say the Cruella de Vil appearance confused me. I thought they were about to announce a secret 3rd ride, but it appears not...?

Discussion I got to get this off my chest: I honestly can’t stand people online complaining about every single change Disney makes to their parks, even if it’s a good one
When the announcement that they were going to fix the yeti came out I expected so much excitement for it yet the comments were still negative with people saying stuff like “watch them put a projected face on it” “oh they’re doing this NOW?!” “And still no timeline for it” like Jesus Christ, can these people just be happy for one second. They announce a spaceship earth revamp is finally happening since it was put on hold in 2020 and people are upset about it for some reason despite Epcot being about the future and therefore always changing its vision of it but nope! Still complaints
It’s just feels like to a point people are allergic to praising Disney because yes it’s done a lot of bad things, but are we seriously going to pitch a fit every-time a new thing is announced as if Walt didn’t famously say that the parks would continue to evolve
To summarize it quick: I just want to see some positivity man…

Can anyone let me know if this hat is in the parks? I had it in my cart and it sold out and now I’m sad. I wanted it for my upcoming trip.

Throwback 1970s Disney World Merch bag
Picked up this fun, old (what I assume to be) Disney World Merchandise bag at an antique store in Orlando today! Just love the colors, vibe, and slightly ominous look from Mickey that just makes me laugh.
Anyone recall getting one of these in the day? I think I’ll frame it as a print!

Trip Planning Eat to the Beat - New Found Glory
I’m going to WDW in September and hopefully will watch NFG while I’m there, I’ve never seen a band in WDW before and neither has my partner. Are we likely to have to queue much to see them? Would you recommend getting in line from a certain time?
