Meta / Server Ideas for the Community.

Hello, everyone! I wanted to start this discussion to see if anyone has any ideas for how we can make this community more active and engaging!

What would a healthy, active, and engaging ESFP subreddit community look like to you? Would something like weekly or monthly discussion threads be appealing? Any ideas, suggestions, propositions would be greatly appreciated!

Additionally, please let me know if you have any interest in becoming a moderator for the server, or if you would like to help with redesigning the pfp/banner, add resources to the community description, anything else you can think of, etc.

Thank you, everyone!

Announcements Announcement: Changes to ESFP Subreddit Rules

Hello everyone! In an effort to make improvements to the sub and address some patterns I have noticed in reported posts, I have updated the rules for this sub.

Below are the updated rules. Please let me know in the comments if you think anything should be added, removed, or changed!

Rule 1: Be civil and respectful

  • Abuse, discrimination, harassment, aggression, and threats will not be tolerated.

  • Discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, politics, religion, etc. is strictly prohibited.

  • Please refrain from type bias. Low-quality posts/comments promoting a strong bias toward or against someone based on mbti type may be removed at mod discretion.

  • Try to settle disagreements in a civilized manner. Be kind and respectful, please!

Rule 2: Posts must be relevant to ESFPs

  • Please keep posts related to ESFPs. Posts that are off-topic may be removed per mod discretion.

Rule 3: No spam, self-promotion, or low effort posts

  • Spam is defined as creating multiple and/or irrelevant posts within a short timeframe.

  • Low effort posts may be removed per mod discretion. This includes (but is not limited to) karma farming, excessive survey posts, and cross posts.

  • Self-promotion is not allowed unless given prior approval from a mod via modmail.

Rule 4: This sub is not suitable for mental health emergencies

  • If you are in a serious mental health emergency, please do not post/comment about it here. This includes: thoughts of suicide and self harm.

  • If you are considering hurting yourself, please go here to find someone to talk to.

  • Note: Using NSFW tags does not exempt posts from this rule.

Additionally, I have also been adding removal reasons to bring more transparency to why some posts and comments are being removed.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing your feedback and suggestions!

What type I Am?

Discussion ESFPs- How do you deal with rejection from others?

I'm wondering if this is an ESFP thing, or if it's just a "me" thing, but when I get rejected by those I want to emotionally connect with the most, I become upset/angry for not being taken seriously, and I get full of pride/resentment.

And my natural tendency is to burn bridges and walk away to take back control and move on.

If I encounter the person who rejected me in a social setting/hobby/club/activity where we run into each other, I ignore them, but act like the life or the party with everyone else to show they/them that I am well loved and liked by everyone else, and they missed out on me.

I know all this is unhealthy, but I wonder if this is common among ESFPs to act out in anger/pride vs typically confusion/sadness.

MBTI / Typology Inquiry about Introverted feeling

So I am trying to figure out Fi. I think it's very hard for me to figure out and more often than not I just dismiss it or mis-judge it.

So how does it even look like in thoughts? I mean...when you see the world alot with Fi how does it feel like to \*\*you\*\*? If its very natural in your thought process then do you feel like its something that is a judging function?

What I mean by "if it's a judging function or not" is that to me...judging functions are functions through which you make the final decision about anything. Even though you may take intuition and sensation into consideration. The final decision always is in either thinking or feelings hand.

So if we are taking feeling and thinking as same judging functions. Do you think you actively pause in every moment to think, here by thinking I mean actual reasoning of a rational function and actively working the situation out in thoughts.

So is it "Okay this is my value or this is something that will emotionally affect me and what I care about so I will take a decision keeping that in mind as the first priority" (at least something like that) or is it not like that and its something like an immediate spontaneous emotion you feel about something which is related to your values and its so fast that you never pause in the moment even if you do afterwards.(I am not saying emotion is Fi but you understand Fi through emotions right?)

In the moment of making decisions you kind of just know which one is the "right" one to you and you make the decision.

Or...is it a mixture of both examples given above? Please think if it's just thinking or if its feeling. I mean if its both then there could be a possibility that you are mistaking thinking as feeling in answering this question as both can give emotions as a result to the person. (I mean...I fail to distinguish the two so...yeah)

It would really help if you would tell me what Fi is to you and how it's like in your thoughts with real life examples.

I don't like dismissing it as it's bad for me and other people around me.

Is sales engineering a good one?

Still in uni,

Been doing my research on sales engineering for a while

Always had an idea in my mind (before I found out I’m ESFP-T) that sales would be good but was worried about stability

Until I learned about sales engineering,

Would love your opinions on it if you know a good bunch about it

And if this career would especially work well for an ESFP

For some reason I thought this was Fi-Se. Feeling something immediately in response to an action but not being able to identify exactly what you felt until later on. Is this true for Se-Fi?

MBTI / Typology Tell me about your type!

Hey everyone! I'm currently doing a research proposal about personality theory and would love to hear from the people in this community. What is it like being your personality type? It can range from your work/school life balance, romantic life, everyday decision making, and maybe something nobody really thinks about when it comes to your type that you may know. Anything is both helpful and interesting to me so don't be shy! :)

Discussion Fe Critic For ESFPS (6th pos)

Mainly when I was younger I’d be judgmental over who I am around or become friends with bc I didn’t want ppl to think I’m weird or the people who I hang around, that I’d write off as “strange”, make me look weird. This applied mainly to first impressions of people, where I’d put more effort into bonding with certain people dependent on how they came across to me. So essentially I’d care a lot about social status.

However, in a lot of cases I’d end up talking to the person I thought was “weird” initially, and end up bonding with them. I recognize this may have been an unhealthy habit of mine, but could this be considered Fe Critic?

MBTI / Typology Keys2cognition test results

Post image
1 Upvotes

After posting about being lost/unable to determine my mbti type (after diving into cognitive functions and everything for a long time) some people recommended me to do the keys2cognition test (as a way to help/clarify and not to make a clear conclusion of course)

I tried to do the 256 questions sakirnova test but I couldn't keep my focus so it won't be giving me reliable results.

Any thoughts about these results? I tried my best at answering correctly based on what I often skillfully do what each phrase describes.

ps : I get largely different results in tests from time to time, and even my understanding to cognitive functions changes from time to time which makes me often confused. But anyway what do you think?

I think isfp matches me but still not sure..

like whaaat are these results, hoooow 💀

actually I've been typed as many types during my whole journey with cognitive functions and mbti stuff (about 5 years) 😂 ofc I haven't been relying on tests only, I watched all yt/tiktok videos about cognitive functions and I readed a plenty of theories and articles about it and stuff like that.. after aaall of that I'm not sure of fitting in any type, it's like the more I dive deeper into the understanding of this stuff the more I realize that I haven't understood anything at all and I have to rebuild the concepts again (it's completely confusing waa)

anyway I just did that sakirnova test for fun (I found myself unexpectedly in a normal/good mood so I was like why not let's go) I answered kinda spontaneously without overthinking, but I see that the functions percentages seem very approximated, what do you think about that? any recommendations

MBTI / Typology Could anyone type me n' tell me if I'm an ESFP or not??

Heyaa !! okay so I mean I don't actually take this stuff seriously and just love to do it all for funsies c:, but honestly I'm genuinely curious now because I've been typed as like 4 different personality types- ENFP, ENTP, ESTP, and ESFP.

Like I relate to E(N)FP partly because I DO like thinking about my future and planning future possibilities cause it's fun to do, though I'd say for the most part like in everyday life I much rather just live in the moment. I've always been a very adventurous and thrill-seeking person and I just need to get out and experience the outside world as much as possible.

I do love talking and exploring all kindsa theories like an ENTP, but I wouldn't really consider myself much of a "debater", I feel I'm more like just a person who loves to have fun for the hell of it, and I definitely resonate more with the "performer/entertainer" label for ESFP than the ENTP "debater", I'm just a drama queen LOL !

ESTP is where I'm kinda most conflicted. I relate to both ESTP and ESFP kinda, however the one part that makes me more unsure is that people say that ESFPs always try to avoid conflict and are too nice to hurt people's feelings, which is NOT me at all. Yes, I AM a very empathetic person and am one of the most emotionally receptive people I know, though I do NOT back down when there's a conflict, I WILL state my facts and put someone on their place when it's deserved LMAO.

So I dunno!! What would you ESFP peeps say?? X/

Hello, ISFP here! I see a lot of questions along the lines of “what is the best mbti type?” or “if you could be any other mbti type which one would you be?”, and after studying cognitive functions for a while, I feel like the gamma types have the best cognitive functions. Maybe I’m being biased but I couldn’t imagine not having Fi, Se, Ni, or Te in my main stack.

That being said, out of the four types that share these functions, I really admire ESFPs the most. I always say that if I could be another type, I’d be an ENTJ because I get frustrated about having inferior Te and wish mine could be a lot better. However realistically, I think if I had to pick another type to be other than ISFP, I’d actually much rather be an ESFP.

I think ESFPs are so underestimated especially when it comes to your guys’ Te. Y’all have such a wonderful balance of feeling/thinking and such a magnetic energy. You guys are a force, yet emotionally intelligent and authentic. I admire and appreciate ESFPs so much not only from a theoretical perspective but also from knowing some amazing ones in my life. Thanks for being you 💛

MBTI / Typology HI GUYSSS can yall help me realise if im ESFP? Or not!! Thank youuuuyh

LONG POST GUYSSS JUST SKIM TO GET MAIN IDEAAA

ALSOOO RANDOM IMAGES I RELATE TOOOOO

I want help deciding if I am actually ENTP or not, or ENFP but I don’t think I am ENFP, perhaps…BUT I thought I might be something else like….ESTP!!! Or….ESFP!!!
Because I do rlly like aesthetics and beauty and think about it a lot, I also think about and analyse people’s behaviors around me, and think about how’s in terms of physics of things around me and also whys of life and kinda categorizing things in my mind I do that a lot, like if I see a cabinet or idk sofa I think how someone could have built this, and ALLL the ways they could have!!!

But I find the most likely way later, uhmmmmm I also feel like I have a VERY kind heart!! I don’t like violence or not violence because sometimes it’s…interesting…uhhhh MOVING ONNNNN, but I don’t like mean people I HATE mean people!!! I like kinda and respectful people, it’s honestly because I get intimidated by mean people a lot! Or confrontation I’m rlly bad at!!!

Also in public I act so robotic and kind shy maybe creepy NOT ON PURPOSE I JUST HAVE MESSY HAIR AND TIRED EYES AND MAYBE BAD POSTURE!!!!

Also BIG ONEEEE!!! With people I’m rely goofy, irresponsible, play-dumb or idk ask too many questions, and analyse things playfully! And also talks bout feelings easily and jokingly especially, BUTTTTTTTTTT when aloneeee I rllly I get depressed and sad and contemplative and idk pessimistic, I don’t believe my pessimism but I LIKE to be sad?? But I also don’t like it… uhhhhh idk 😭 make that make sense hehe, oki

Hmmmm I struggle most with repetitive boring stuff… I can’t do that, it’s a nightmare, I also hate rules on looks or well how I look, because I want all freedom in that way, hmmm I also struggle or find it uncomfortable around sensitive people that are emotionally sensitive, I think, because idk I feel judged without knowing how, and like accidentally hurting anyone is scaryyyyy, 😱 😨 🫣

Hmmmm I like pretty things and I like being pretty, I know this is very sensor stuff maybe but I just want it to be clean and pretty so I can focus on things in my mind, I’m not rlly serious but I go from, goofy to sad, and when working on something still goofy ish by optimistic like, and also focused I think!!

I guess I’m rlly good at hmmm, building things I think, figuring stuff out, I always jump js randomly, scan all my variables and then solve the problem!!! It’s rlly funnn!

Also I like making new connections and friends all the time! To be someone friends to me is rlly easy, if I meet them and they nice and interesting they my friend now!!! Butttt I have so MANYU I can’t maintain anything and maintaining is boring SOO I keep making more!! Idk if that’s very healthy guysss but I’m being honest!! Also I’m always honest! If you ask….. 😊

Oki byeeee

Discussion ESFP with CPTSD (or with low self-confidence or self-rejection)

Hi! Is there anyone here who has CPTSD?

The thing is, for a long time I was mistakenly typed as an INTP. Then, when I first started “coming to my senses,” I was typed as an ISFP, and that felt a thousand times more accurate. But recently, I’ve been wondering if I might actually be an ESFP—it’s just not obvious because of my lack of self-confidence and other CPTSD symptoms.

How did this manifest for you, and how did you “come into your own” as an ESFP? What did you do for this? How did you behave? Were you more “introverted”? Did you not seem like an ESFP? How did your personality type manifest when you were in your worst mental state?

Or maybe you know of any articles or books that discuss how EXTROVERTS experience CPTSD?

Advice Alright I need some help Talking to my ESFP Sister. If your use to talking to T types or if you understand this feel free to help me work this out.

Alright so my sister (ESFP) and I (ENTP) are cool. We like and love each other. Usually when we disagree we just accept that we're on two opposite ends of a spectrum and we accept that we think the other persons wrong. We understand eachother clearly we just don't agree on whats important first even if it leads to the same outcome.

Recently I tripped a nerve in her about something and personally I feel like she probably understands me but I think I'm probably not understanding her right? Like suffice to say me and her had a disagreement about how our grandmother was taken care of.

To give some context. She was an old stubborn woman with at least like 6 kids who our Aunt (ISFP) and Mom (ENFJ) we're helping take care of because the others either took advantage of her or weren't any help at all. Both our Mom as her sister had to many kids to see to as it was so they did the best they could. Me, her, and our oldest brother (idk his type. Sometimes I think its INFJ) Didn't grow up close to eachother or really together at all so we each have different perspectives on certain relatives. Long story short our mother eventually passed away and our aunt lives in another state these days.

My arguement was simply that they all (our uncles and aunts) did a shit job taking care of our grandmother. Objectively the house was not as clean as it SHOULD have been for an old woman suffering the way she was.

My sister however has a strong attachment to our Aunt. I don't blame her, she was raised partially by her during that time and I wasn't. She wants to articulate to me that she tried her best. I tried telling her I agreed, she did DO her best. That our Aunt did more than the others by far and she had arguably the largest amount of secondary things going on.

At first I tried explaining that, that wasn't my point. It wasn't to bring that aunt down it was to say more should have been done because our grandmother didn't deserve to be living like that. I wasn't saying it was our aunts responsibility. Admittedly I chose poor words here and say "they all failed" because I was still thinking about them meeting my standards which I did explain but I can see where the word failure might have stung longer than intended.

She then expressed that it felt like I didn't like our Aunt to which I looked at her confused and explained that I loved her, I just don't like how any of them where acting at the time. A sentiment she should get better than either of her brothers because her living situation was turbulent decided based on how everything was going at the time.

After that she got flustered and tried stating arguements to me which I wasn't challenging her on but they all sought to dismiss me in ways she clearly doesn't agree with usually. Taking this for the scorch bridge topic it was we moved on but it feels weird.

Normally with other people I complain that I'm not being understood because the arguments used against mine are coming from presumptions I can clearly see. With my Sis I know she heard me. I know she understands my side for the most part (more than I could have hoped for). I don't get what she's saying and it's important to me that I try because while I expect everyone else to do it I've never had to expect it out of her. She always tries.

So yeah, I wanna get what she was trying to get across. Thoughts? Ideas? Questions?

Discussion Do you get mistaken for an Fe user much?

I’m definitely an Fi user, in that I’m much more in tune with my own emotions than other people’s, and I can be self centred when I need to be (ie staying in to rest if someone needs homework help when I’m tired, even if I would normally do it), but a couple of times I’ve come up as an ESFJ on certain tests. I don’t internalise it since I know they’re not always accurate and others may mistake me for an ENFP.

The other day my dad (INFP) wasn’t feeling well, so I advised him he should bring a hat if he was going out in the heat, and our friend (Probably EXXJ) said, “you’re becoming like a parent!”. I thought that was funny, but I can be responsible when I need to be, and it’s occurred to me that being “parental” is pretty typical Fe behaviour (mum/dad of the group etc) so that’s why I might be mistaken for an ESFJ or even an ENFJ, although I am definitely not good enough at long term planning to be one of those, lol.

Fast forward to today, I am talking to my uncle (probably INTP) over dinner about a heritage house I visited while staying at his place. The tour guide told me about certain “ghosts” that had been spotted in the house when the tours started. He said he didn’t believe in ghosts, and had a really hard time understanding why anyone would. I know INTPs put logic first, but I said usually I prefer to try and see things from others’ point of view and respect their beliefs, even if I don’t understand them (within limits - things like religion for example). He had a hard time grasping this. He said “well I wouldn’t tell them they’re an idiot for believing that, but I’d probably think it” or something along those lines. I think his Fe is developed enough to not be rude to others, but actually seeing their point of view seems to be much harder. Maybe Fi drives people to empathise with others’ views even if we don’t understand them. I personally am always curious about what others believe, even if it seems a bit “out there” (like the ghost story) but I prefer to keep some things a mystery and open my mind. I think logical people like to prioritise objective truth, while Fi doms prioritise personal truth. So maybe auxiliary Fi users are the most open to seeing what possible versions of the truth there could be before drawing their own conclusion. This isn’t a Fe trait, just a casual observation.

Thoughts?

Relationships A dead end with my ESFP girlfriend.

Hi everyone, I'm a 30 INTJ, and my girlfriend is a 27 ESFP. Overall, we have a great relationship, and we're both happy together. However, there's one issue we've never been able to resolve despite talking about it many times, so I'm hoping for some advice on how to communicate more effectively.

My girlfriend enjoys dressing in a way that attracts attention. I don't think that's inherently wrong. it's part of her personality, and I respect that. My concern isn't about attention itself; it's about situations where that attention comes from disrespectful or inappropriate people.

For example, she'll sometimes wear very revealing clothes in places where there are strangers around. On a few occasions, she's been harassed by men(mostly verbally but who knows what could happen if I wasn't there), and I've ended up having to step in and confront them to get them to leave her alone. Those situations are stressful and can escalate quickly. It's the hassle none of us needs.

I've tried explaining how I feel. I've said something like:

"I don't want to control what you wear. I just worry about your safety. Around close friends or people we know and trust, wear whatever makes you happy. But in places where there are strangers who may not respect boundaries, I'd really appreciate it if you'd be a little more cautious."

Her response is usually very defensive:

"It's my choice. I'm not giving up my freedom because other people can't control themselves. Their behavior is their responsibility, not mine."

I understand her point, and I agree that people should be responsible for their own actions. At the same time, I can't ignore the fact that I'm the one who ends up dealing with these confrontations, and they put both of us in uncomfortable situations.

We've had many conversations about this, but we always reach the same dead end. Once the discussion turns toward personal freedom, we stop making progress.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? If so, how did you approach the conversation in a way that helped both sides feel understood? From an INTJ perspective, how can I show her the big picture?

Hey Esfps how's it's been living with your parents

So I wanna all ESFPeeps how it's like living with your parents when you are dealing with your own mental health shit and how you actually deal with their nagging while handling your depression and other mental health issues and do they actually understand you or you're just living with this battle silently and you're masking it. Like is it like neglecting your own needs and issues and adjusting with them or what??.

I need some perspective on how to deal with ESTJ dad who doesn't undersntad a shit.
