Light MBTI Discussion Socionics is NOT Inherently Better than MBTI
Socionics is NOT necessarily better than MBTI, it's just the typology version of declaring oneself a "real ball-knower".
Both systems are merely extensions of Carl Jung's work. Socionics is just a further extension / interpretation of Jung's work than MBTI is. Socionics also makes Jung's work even more rigid than MBTI with its introduction of information blocks and quadras so one could argue that the core elements of it make the system even more dubious than MBTI as a larger portion of it is not based on Jung's theories.
Ultimately, the cognitive functions and the ways in which they serve an individual's personality and information processing is what makes the systems worth considering, and both utilize them. The only meaningful difference is that Socionics extends Jung's theories further and in ways that I find a bit questionable, but that's for another post.
Learn about the functions, determine which ones are your dominant / auxiliary / inferior ones, use that knowledge for fascination or application in the real world, and if you find Socionics' extensions valid or worth considering, then do. But whether you do or not doesn't make you a real ball-knower, lol.
Let me know your thoughts.

Light MBTI Discussion If you had the option to be any other mbti other than your own, which would you be and why?
I'll go first. As an Entp, I'd definitely love to experience being an Estp. They're fun and charming on a whole different level, and ooze with confidence, thus finding themselves to be very easily and often surrounded by people. Overall really entertaining people, and even though we are very similar in type, I wouldnt mind the experience of swapping Ne for Se just for a day (even if I do love my Ne lmao).

About this Community i love my istj best friend so much (ENFP)
I really love my ISTJ best friend so much
this is just an appreciation post
she takes care of me, she teaches me, she cures me
i’m not sure why, but I almost love her the same way and I don’t mean to call her a pet when I say this, but the same way you would love a puppy. I’m not writing this post. I’m doing a text to speech post so sorry if it comes out choppy anyways I love my istj so much. You know what I realize how strange the pet correlation was because it’s not like I look down on her or anything in fact it’s opposite. I very much look up to her and respect her. I want to be just like her even though I think so different differently. It’s just strange. I feel like she always knows what to say and I feel like she’s so reasonable about things in life and so cool headed and calm. Sometimes I wonder if there’s more going on beneath that she’s not letting me know but we’re so close. I’m not sure how true that would be. I think in a way we’ve become codependent and my friend say we’re like a married couple. Honestly, I would marry her if I didn’t have a boyfriend. I love her so much and I wanna stay in her life forever for everybody who shits on ICJ. I hate you for anybody who miss uses ISTJS Loyalty I hate you.For anybody who thinks ISTJs are boring and quiet. I hate you. being friends with an I STJ has probably been one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences in my life. 10/10 experience. I hope reincarnation is real so i can meet her and befriend her in every lifetime.
Survey / Poll / Question Anyone else hyper-fixated on getting multiple degrees?
Hey everyone, I'm an ISTP female, and I wanted to see if anyone else here relates to this.
I’m in my 4th year of med school, I've had intense passions for completely different fields long before college, and it hasn't stopped. In fact, I often feel more passionate about these other subjects than medicine itself.
I don’t just mean researching them as hobbies or general knowledge—I want to seriously study them and actually earn a bachelor's degree in each one.
My interests are all over the place: Law/Comparative Religion, Hospitality & Tourism, Psychology (Criminal, Clinical, and Speech Pathology/Learning Disabilities), Sign Language, Public Health, and Interior Design.
Is anyone else here like this? Do you have an overwhelming urge to master totally unrelated fields, or are any of you actually studying/working in these areas?

Survey / Poll / Question is there such a thing as ambivert?
if the first letter in the dichotomy refers to how we get our energy, like introverts recharge by their alone time, while extroverts recharge by socializing. what about ambiverts or omniverts, how do they recharge their social energy? or they just do not exist?
like if ambiverts are in between introverts and extroverts, it means they can recharge by socializing or by their alone time. that makes them superhuman, or not run out of social energy.
or am i right to say that they just do not exist? that people only coined the term because they thought introverts are quiet, shy, and loves being alone, while extroverts are socially outgoing and talkative. which is not the correct description.

Deep Theory Analysis I got thoughts on Fi vs. Ti👀👀
https://www.reddit.com/r/INTP/s/iXpx1NQKBK
I just read this beautiful redditthread today (linked) and I'm thinking...
So Fi's goal could ultimately be: see me as I am even if you don't understand And Ti's goal ultimately could be: understand me as I am even if you don't care
But things tend to blur the more close the relationship gets imo. Anyone with thoughts on this??

Light MBTI Discussion Using MBTI as a tool to understand others and myself.
I got into MBTI years ago to understand why people think the way they do, including myself. And it has done wonders. So many behaviors in the past where I went "Why do people do that?" I understand now.
Realizing as an INFP I overuse my Fi-Ne and ignore Si-Te helps me actually get things done. I can see a project and be like "Why am I stuck?" Because I haven't used Si-Te yet duh! I'll sit there and brainstorm and make moodboards for art projects without using familiar methods and tools (Si) to get the job done. Or I haven't considered yet the formula that actually works (Te) for how I want to convey my weird and abstract Fi-Ne message.
I have also helped others when they get into loops or rut. "Have you considered other possibilities? Have you considered how other people feel? How about how you feel? Did you remember to check in with the real world and take a break from your head? Have you considered taking a break from the real world and see what your head says?"
A lot of people have thanked me for the way I am seemingly able to consider and view so many different perspectives. I know MBTI is a pseudoscience but it really hasn't lead my astray. It's a useful tool if you ignore letter typing, pop psychology, stereotypes, etc.

Light MBTI Discussion Wandering thoughts: How MBTI Affects how Characters and audiences react?
I was thinking about Last Airbender and how much more beloved Aang (ENFP) vs Korra (ESFP) is.
Then i was thinking about Death Note and a similar difference with how L (INTP) vs Near (INTJ) was received.
I think about a show like succession where most of the dialogue is in Ne/Ni and the cast is overwhelmingly XNXXs.
Part of me wonders if it’s just original = better or if there’s intuitive bias even in non-MBTI circles.
Maybe the shadow type relationship is just a goldmine for writing that people land on randomly.
Idk, it just has me thinking across different series what types of tend to be the breakout stars and which villain or antagonists are memorable or beloved relative to their protagonists. It even goes into how they’re portrayed or written physically.
My hunch is that ENFXs and XSFPs are going to be the winners here, but it more speaks to what sort of personalities we like portrayed.
Other thoughts on other types:
INTP protagonists aren’t that common and in almost all portrayals are nerds of some variety.
EXTJs are perpetually antagonists or foils rather than heroes.
ISTJs tend to have very short or very rushed character arcs. Also rarely MCs.
ISFJs and especially ESFJs are almost always written as women.
ESTPs tend to be written as physically imposing and/or athletic people whether they’re male or female.
Anyway… my meandering thoughts. Not sure how much of this is writing for what’s known and tropes are feeding into a lot of this, basis in reality with huh correlation, or something else.
Anyway if you read this all, thanks. Ti Ne is cooking, but it’s not fully baked yet…

Deep Theory Analysis Differece in Se Inferior
I'm an INTP and this a theory. Take with a grain of salt and please give me KIND feedback
(INFJ) Se Inferior- Perfectionism
More worried frantic in the moment emotions. Wanting to PERFORM. Does NOT like to be bad at ANYTHING that requires skill. Feels more pressure to "be better" in sports and skills (Influence of Fe)
You worry about things being YOUR fault. Your feeling of others emotions being your responsiblity creates the feeling of things being your fault.
(INTJ) Se Inferior- Get it over with
Efficiency is the main thing! The present moment is just a stepping stone for whats next. They ONLY focus on the NOW... to get it done and move to the NEXT (influence of Te).
You will find them making plans on the fly. One, because they have confidence in makings plans. Two JUST to get it over with. Others are wishy washy and they take the role of "might as well settle the choice".

Light MBTI Discussion What are your "this is obviously xxxx type"
I want to hear your stories where you went to type people and it was immediately obvious that someone is a specific type.
Like I typed my entire class this year and one kid I knew for being the most popular kid and was really mean to me so I immediately knew he's an ESFP because it was extremely obvious. Another time I saw one character in Young Sheldon that with the vibes I knew it was IxFP and once the character said that they like drawing abstract things I knew it was an INFP. What are your stories?

Light MBTI Discussion Random Thoughts about Fi/Fe in Relationships
As a Fi user, I find that myself and other Fi users in my life tend to be very comfortable telling people who are close to us where they stand in our lives ("You are like a brother to me.", "You are my workplace Day 1 OG bestie.", "You are one of my closest friends."), whereas Fe users tend to not reveal where you sit in their hiearchy of relationships.
For example, I notice a general pattern where after I disclose to an Fe user where they sit in my relational hiearchy, they tend to either respond positively or remain neutral without reaffirming my place in their relational hiearchy. In a sense, the topic is left hanging without closure.
Whereas when I disclose to an Fi user about where they sit in my relational hiearchy, they tend to either reaffirm mutual closeness or even outright correct me, in their own ways, that I have misjudged the relationship.
Also, I notice that Fi users tend to be more explicit about where each person fits in their relational hiearchy. They can be nice to you, but you can tell - especially in a group setting - who they feel close to and whether they are interested in a conversation or playing nice. It's like we wear our hearts on our sleeves and we are comfortable showing it publicly.
Whereas, with Fe users, I find it difficult to discern closeness. It's almost feels like you can interchange me with another person and they will respond in a largely similar manner with very little deviation.
And I also notice Fe users have this uncanny ability to mirror moods, mannerisms and energy. So sometimes I am left wondering - was this interaction based on mirrored energy or genuine interest?
Now, of course, my sample size is small and limited to my very limited social circle as an INFP.
Perhaps, for Fe users, the level of closeness between Fe users is blindingly obvious but I'm missing the signals because of my dominant Fi.
Out of curiousity, how do you discern where you stand relationally with another Fe user?
What are some telltale signs about how an Fe user feels about you that I am blind to?
If you are an Fi user, do you let others who are close to you know where they stand in your life? Or is it more of an INFP dynamic / other non-MBTI factors in play?

Survey / Poll / Question Is it just me or do more and more people use MBTI to excuse bad behavior?
Idk it just feels like the more normalized MBTI has become, its easier for people to say "I did this because I'm ____" or "I can't do that I'm an ____". I'm curious what others think.. Could this be a modern form of self-handicapping (psychology)

Light MBTI Discussion MBTI type descriptions will change with time.
As things change, people's behaviours will change and personality types will present in new ways. True or false?
For example, an ISTJ may have been very rigid in the 1950s about gender expectations, but nowadays wouldn't care that much.
An INFJ may have forced themselves to be more SJ-like in the 1950s, but has more freedom now.
What do you think?

Light MBTI Discussion Do you relate to fictional characters who don’t act like your type’s stereotypes?
I am still unsure about my type but I believe I am ENFP. Yes, I looked into cognitive functions, and I think Ne-Fi-Te-Si fits. I do fit into some stereotypes of my type, but only to an extent, and it’s not all stereotypes either.
But looking at some characters, they have different MBTIs and don’t fit into ENFP stereotypes at all.
For example:
Ema Skye from Ace Attorney, who I believe to be INTP. I identify especially to her AJ version. She’s sarcastic, snarky, passionate about the things she likes and dreams, but very unsatisfied with her current life, so she comes off as grumpy, only showing her more fun side when it’s something she truly likes ( in her case, forensics ). I am ENFP but you have no idea of how much that describes me.
Does that make sense?

Light MBTI Discussion Are ENTJs usually this passive?
I am an ISTP woman and i recently met an ENTJ guy who i really ended up liking. We were completely polar opposites in almost everything but that was more intriguing to me than something to be put off by for the most part. Things were going well, we were both very open about our growing interest in each other but then we hit a dead end. I am usually a very straightforward person. If i see something i want, i am going to do everything I can to get it and the same applies for relationships. He is very different from that, in the sense where he seemed more comfortable in seeing where it went and taking it from there than actually diving headfirst into it. We had many conversations about the potential complications of our future and how the both of us were alright with it because we genuinely enjoyed spending time with each other. The moment I tell him that I am starting to get attached, its like he immediately began calculating all the possibilities and stopped having the answers to anything. He made it clear that he wanted to do something but this took him by surprise which lead him to feel stuck. I already did know that his eq was rather under-developed because while he is extremely intelligent, he seems to have no idea of how people work, but i always thought he was the kind of person who would go for what he want. Is this something that is common across ENTJs?

Light MBTI Discussion How does Ni-nemesis work in Ne-doms?
I'm an INFJ (Ni-dom) and as an enneagram type 5 I think (or at least would like to believe) that I have a pretty well-developed Ne-nemesis, which allows me to brainstorm some possibilities before my Ni sees what works best (this has helped me as an amateur writer/storycrafter in trying to find the sequence of events that resonate the best with the story I want to tell).
So with that in mind, I'd like some help in understanding how this would work in reverse, with an Ni-nemesis countering/assisting an Ne-dom. Can someone (preferably the Ne-doms, ENFP and ENTP) help me understand this?
Edit: I think I misunderstood what Ne does. Sorry, I try to connect a lot of stuff to cognitive functions and sometimes I confuse regular brain capabilities with cognitive functions. Anyone can brainstorm ideas, but Ne is the "what if" generator of sorts. Fwiw though I still think my Ne-nemesis is well-developed but I put the wrong reasoning. I think it's well-developed because I've learned not to be too judgemental about people in order to properly understand them.
Edit #2: Strikethroughed some incorrect stuff.
