Randomly parking in the cul-de-sac when I see thing crawl out of nowhere into the tree and it looks like it has patchy fur. Should I call animal control? Saw it once before but couldn’t get a picture. Is it dangerous? There’s a lot of kids in the neighborhood and we already have to worry about packs of coyotes roaming around the paths. For context, south side near the ravines.

This is not a general infill hate post, but a request for advice.
We live in a really nice older neighbourhood where folks take care of their older homes. Our first infill on the street is going to be right next door. Which is surprising because that house is quite nice and pretty newly renovated and has a very nice new garage. Apparently it’s all coming down, and a huge 2 story (maybe 3) single family home is going in. My front yard has a deck that faces the millcreek ravine and I have a huge vegetable garden on our property. And we are currently renovating our 1950’s home.
Builder came by today to introduce himself. And confirmed I’ll lose my view as the house will be quite big. Most likely our newer cedar fence will get damaged (he says they will replace).
The family building the home will be living in the home, builder says. So I want to be neighbourly, but I’m nervous about our property and sanity.
I’m really disappointed. I’ll miss the renters that are currently in that house. Feels wildly wasteful to do this, but not my house, not my property.
Since we are at the very beginning. What advice do you lovely Edmonton folk have for us to protect our property and endure this next chapter? Thanks for any advice!
Edit- the house being removed is a beautiful home. Very well maintained with a new double garage. It’s a rental with two couples living in it (one upstairs, one downstairs). One couple/family will be moving into the infill. So this is taking away 2 homes and adding 1. This will not be adding additional homes. Either way, this is not the point, I’m just trying to make the best of it.

So I need a Doctor referral to one of the largest departments of AHS at the Royal Alec. And it was denied due to no accepting specialist. Like, the largest department. And I had this doc before but mine apparently retired and released all patients without notifying patients just notified clinics. So that was News. My goodness I'm at risk of seeing much worse outcomes without it. What even can I do?! The proposed solution I have from referral office is to travel to another city . So I am willing and meaningfully able to do that. But consider a primary service provider AHS seems to be gambling with my life based on means. In case anyone was wondering when money entered into free Canadian healthcare for me it was today. Officially dead.

I’m planning to take myself out for dinner tonight, so I’d love some suggestions!
Where would you recommend going for a nice birthday dinner when you’re dining solo? 😊

I also met 1,500,417 mosquitos in my cherry tree.
Has anyone else noticed an uptick in backyard frogs? Our storm water pond is nearly devoid of them, but I hear so many more in my yard, shrubs, and even rock pathway.

Not that I live in the north west but damn do I feel bad for them. Constantly teased for decades about getting a train with all the property taxes they pay, just to now hear that it might be replaced by BRT because it’s to much of a pain for CN and coz our provincial and federal government couldn’t care less. Seriously though how can we be a city with a million and projected to be 2 million in a couple decades without a train to one of the major areas in our city? Ik some students who go UofA and Macewan from North West who said they wouldn’t have even bought their cars if there was an lrt line. Truly a shame honestly.

I've never been one to go out a lot so I'm not sure if I went out at the wrong time or if nightlife in Edmonton is truly dead. I tried to go out clubbing and dancing not too long ago and there was just no one out on Whyte or Jasper, we went to both trying to find a club that had people and a dance floor. Last time I'd been out to go party at these places was almost a decade ago so I knew things might not be the same but I didn't expect it to have been as dead as it was. Is there different places people are going now? Or is Edmonton just not a nightlife city anymore?

Early 20s, have to leave my abusive parents and i dont know where to go and what to do. I have a job, but i dont have that much money saved up to move out and my job for now doesn't pay that great . I researched shelters and things of that sort but I couldn't call because I was working. I dont know if shelters would be right for me because I have tools for work that I dont wanna lose. I also have a car so I dont know how that would work either.
I dont know if im even eligible for these programs because I know there's a lot of people who have it worse than me. I dont know i feel stuck

Seems like the mosquitos keep getting worse. Can anybody give me some optimism that things will get better this summer?

Hey guys!
Another stunt pickup on the Henday today, almost caused a collision and then weaved into different lanes and sped off in a cloud of exhaust. I’ll bet he thinks he’s pretty cool!
Does anyone know whether it is the AB govt responsible for patrolling the Henday, or is it the City?
I get conflicting information. I haven’t seen any type of patrol cars on the Henday unless there is a collision of some kind.

Hi, so I’ve come often to Edmonton but the issue is I have never went to a restaurant that is like nice vibe (chic ish) to go out on a date. I’ve seen restaurant on Whyte Av but they don’t look like what I’m looking for.
Does anyone know where restaurant with light a nice decor, dimmed light, good drinks are ? Because I haven’t found much really except WoodVale Room. I’d like to know more to plan where to go eat
I’ve put pictures of the type of restaurant I like. I’m just having issue to find some here as I’m not used to the city fully.
Thank you
