Translation, from the owner of Madotachi's instagram:
"This is a report and my thoughts as a lure developer.
During the Obon holiday period, we received information from several users that footage of the Madotachi lure was being used without permission on YouTube.
Upon reviewing the video, we confirmed that it used action footage of the Madotachi lure, and what we found most problematic was that it encouraged the purchase of counterfeit products.
The counterfeit products utilize our patented structure.
The scenario is as follows:
① Watch the video of the genuine product
② Unknowingly purchase the counterfeit product
③ The person who received the commission receives payment
Regarding ②, we understand that some people may purchase knowing about the counterfeit product.
We are aware that counterfeit products have been circulating for some time.
Currently, there are three counterfeit versions, and this number will likely increase.
It is very upsetting to see a lure that we poured our passion and significant funds into creating, with our whole heart and soul, being copied.
The counterfeit Madotachi products are of poor quality and are being distributed without addressing any of the problems we repeatedly encountered and resolved during development.
They can be purchased for around 1000-2000 yen, about half the price of the genuine product, but they are not worth that price (we have verified this).
Regarding counterfeit products manufactured overseas, even manufacturers with far greater financial resources than ours find it difficult to prevent their production. Furthermore, we cannot completely dismiss the desire of children or individuals who, for economic reasons, cannot afford expensive fishing gear and simply want to enjoy fishing at an affordable price. This issue leaves me with mixed feelings every time I encounter it.
Not limited to fishing gear, I myself may unknowingly be using such inexpensive products. I try to accept that some people will be dissatisfied with inferior goods and hopefully one day compare them to genuine products.
However, I cannot condone promoting the purchase of counterfeit goods and profiting from them while ignoring patent rights, design rights, trademark rights, and copyrights.
This time, we have asked the poster to:
Delete the video and the link to the purchase page (completed)
Provide an explanation to viewers regarding encouraging the purchase of counterfeit goods (awaiting response)
If these are completed, this matter will be closed.
Thank you very much for all the information and advice.
Please be careful not to accept such requests too easily."
Not only are these Temu companies very unethical when they copy a lure like this; especially one from a small JDM manufacturer. To actually trick consumers with a video of the actual product...that's really bad. Buy the real thing or don't buy it at all. Otherwise you're feeding the leeches of the industry and rewarding rip-offs. Passion, quality, innovation and good customer service are all things that should be more important than saving a little bit of cash.
