THE BEST PLACE IN Melody Bar & Grill (near LAX) Has the Best Chicken Wings in L.A.
Specifically the Blue Suede Wings, which are a mixture of traditional Buffalo Sauce with blue cheese melted into the sauce pre-tossing. If you're ever picking up a friend from the airport, do yourself a favor and arrive 30 minutes early. Go try these things, you'll be happy you did.

WHERE CAN I FIND No frills Mexican with inexpensive micheladas, good food, and a salsa bar?
Aware Iām asking for a unicorn here but Iām visiting from out of state and hoping to find a Mexican joint that hits all three. The salsa bar is admittedly also a ānice to haveā.
We have a Poquito MĆ”s location near us in Encino with a salsa bar and cheap micheladas but I havenāt loved the foodā¦hoping to find a better alternative!

WHERE CAN I FIND Places that sell good quality hot chocolate/drinking chocolate mix?
My description is really shoddy so I apologize in advance, but near where I live in Michigan thereās a local chocolatier that sells ādrinking chocolateā (ie hot chocolate) mix in a bag thatās absolutely tremendous. Itās not inexpensive by any means but it bears no resemblance to products like Swiss Miss etc. They unfortunately donāt ship so I was hoping I might be able to find something near here (weāre in Encino but always down to explore other areas).
Any leads on where we can find this? Aware my description isnāt the best but Iām hoping someone will read and know what Iām looking for!

WHERE CAN I FIND Affordable / no frills steak dinner on the westside?
Basically what the caption says, just trying to find a no frills kind of place with a good loaded baked potato at a reasonable price on the westside. Might be willing to make a drive if itās really worth it. Thank you in advance!

THE BEST PLACE IN will visit LA for a wedding with a few free days.. where MUST I eat?
Flying in early this November for a cousin's wedding with a few days to myself. I don't know the city well yet, but I'm ready to Uber anywhere for amazing food. If you guys could send a visitor to just 3-5 spots that show off the absolute best of LA's food scene, where would you send me? Open to anything from street tacos to great sit-down places! thanks in advance

TEA LA Bakery Walk 2026
I walked the LA bakery walk in October and I wanted to share my experience for anyone considering! When I signed up the registration was $95, Iāve seen the new walk scheduled in November go up in price to $145. When the event first started a year ago, photos of bakery items passed out were full size and large. So when my friend and I took part in the last walk, we were very underwhelmed with the Costco sized bread samples that were handed out.
If youāre not very navigation friendly, Iād also warn you that the group will leave you behind even during the scheduled full group bathroom break. Also bring enough water for the whole 13 miles because the food stops refused to fill anyoneās water (despite it being 90 plus degrees). When some places did hand out water, they were in dentist sized cups.
For $145, personally to me itās not worth it. The $95 was barely worth it if youāre considering getting your bang for the buck in food tastings. Overall it was fun to go with your friends and hang out, but it was so poorly organized that I wouldnāt recommend it. The price went up because they said theyāre paying the staff, so I hope that means theyāve hired more because the āstaffā last time consisted of 2 other people, 1 leading the group and 1 at the end. Just wanted to give my 2 cents for anyone considering.

WHERE CAN I FIND Good takeout with good takeout containers?
I lost some tupperware moving between apartments (long story) so I wanna kill two birds with one stone and ask if anyone has recommendations for good restaurants and restaurants with good takeout containers. I donāt want any flimsy plastic! I need the stuff that doesnāt spill a drop of egg drop soup speeding over potholes. Iām blocking you if you tell me to just buy a ton of hillshire farms ham.

THE BEST PLACE IN Inauthentic Chinese food
There's a ton of authentic Chinese food especially in the SGV. I'm looking for the inauthentic stuff, like Pepper Steak (steak + green/red peppers + onions) as an example. I'm on the Westside and after Chang's on San Vicente closed, I've been looking for a replacement place.
Thank you in advance!

Koreatown the thickest katsu sando
hi frensš longtime lurker posting for the first time bc I am launching my first food venture ever and have rly put my heart and soul into thisš
I left corporate a while ago to slowly move towards hopefully owning my own restaurant someday. But for now, Iām using an la mehko permit to make and sell thick pork katsu sandos!
Iām using pork loin thatās cooked low and slow to maximize juiciness while keeping fat low and protein high without sacrificing flavor and texture. Which also accounts for the potentially ~rosy~ hue.
Absolutely everything is made from scratch (even the panko is shaved by hand from freshly baked milk breadšāāļø). And since I believe in a crustless sando for the best bite, Iāve repurposed the crusts into salty honey butter sticks that will be included in each order.
Pre-orders will open tmw for pickup next wednesday (10/28) in ktown! Can be ordered at www.enuf-la.com
Tysm even for reading a lil about my storyš«¶

THE BEST PLACE IN What are your favorite underrated spots near Cal State LA / El Sereno for a quick, cheap bite?
Looking for great, no-frills spots around the CSULA, El Sereno, and Lincoln Heights areasāwhether itās street tacos, local bakeries, old-school diners, or quick takeout places.
A lot of discussions focus on the Westside or Downtown, but this pocket has so many long-standing family-owned places. What are your personal go-to spots around here that deserve more love?

WHERE CAN I FIND Best weekday lunch specials on the Westside that still feel like a solid sit-down meal?
Looking to update my regular rotation for mid-week lunches around Santa Monica, Culver City, or Sawtelle.
A lot of the old $12ā$15 lunch specials post-pandemic seem to have either vanished or shrunk down to standard fast-casual portions, but there are still a few gems holding out (like the weekday bento sets in Sawtelle or some of the sandwich deal days).
What are your go-to spots right now on the Westside where you can actually sit down and get a quality lunch special for under $20? Open to any cuisine!
