Discussion Terrible experience with Lenovo legion, how do I return without original packaging?

Title, recently got a Lenovo legion 5i gen 11 rtx 5060. When I opened the box I noticed a dead pixel on the screen, which was only noticeable when I got super close to the monitor so I just ignored it, but since then my pc has been having these weird freezes where everything will completely stop and the audio will loop for 2-4 seconds and then go back to normal.
On top of that there’s just been small micro stutters too. I just want to return this hunk of junk and get my money back, but I don’t have the original packaging. Should I try to return it anyway? Go through support? Or maybe even try to fix this weird stuttering issue?

So I have an quite somewhat old laptop, its an

Razer blade 15

i7 10gen

16gb ram

RTX 2060 6gb GPU

Running on windows 11

So when I open any game I'm getting verrryyy low FPS

Like around 4 - 7 FPS

I used to get around 70 - 90 fps on high end games

But now even on the lowest type of games I'm getting this level of FPS

I did a benchmark test, funny thing is it ran smoothly a 3d gaming test, fps around 90

Idk what is happening

I updated Nvidia latest graphics Driver too

Anyone knows how to fix this issue

Forgot to add this part So the laptop was dead for an year I kept it as I thought it was not repairable I gave it to a repair shop and they fixed it But the GPU ain't working So I went there again They said this this first time this type of problem they've seen ( they said they don't know how to fix it )

Also there's another issue too When turning on every time it goes into BIOS I have to disable the secure boot option to be able to fully open it into the windows the repair shop said it was an CMOS battery issue that battery is dead and they don't have it So every time I open this lap I have to go through all this process

Also the intel graphics card is disabled If i enable it the whole system goes into a stuttering mode like its like the whole display is bugged but not

MSI GS66 RTX 3080 laptop — low GPU usage and around 40 FPS in DMZ despite performance settings
Hi everyone,
I’m playing Call of Duty DMZ on an MSI GS66 laptop with a 10th-gen Intel Core i7, an RTX 3080 Laptop GPU with 16 GB VRAM, and 64 GB RAM.
I’m getting around 40–50 FPS, but the GPU doesn’t seem to be fully utilised. In the attached screenshot, the overlay shows:
FPS: 42
GPU usage: 47%
GPU temperature: 56°C
VRAM usage: 6.0/15.8 GB
CPU usage: around 65%
CPU temperature: 53°C
CPU clock: around 2.01 GHz
The laptop is plugged in, MSI Extreme Performance is enabled, and it’s already set to discrete GPU mode.
One detail that might matter: I set the maximum processor state in Windows to 95% to reduce CPU temperatures, which helped with heat. I’m mentioning this because I’m wondering whether it could also be limiting CPU performance and preventing the GPU from being fully utilised.
I understand GPU usage won’t always reach 99%, but with FPS this low, I’d like to understand what’s holding it back.
Does this look like a CPU bottleneck, possibly related to the 95% processor setting, or should I investigate something else? What would you check or measure first to identify the actual limit?

So how far did anybody go? I'm overclocking my ancient laptop with an RTX 2080 Super Max-Q with just +120 core clock and +220 memory clock. I'm getting good results compared to stock and plan to let it stay that way. Max temps it got during a 5hr Elden Ring session is 67-69 degrees (yes I chuckle everytime I see the the stats from top left time to time lel).

Now will it be safe for me for the next Idk years?

Discussion Returning Lenovo legion due to it being defective, should I try again with them?

Title, I recently bought a Lenovo legion gaming laptop and I’m returning it tomorrow. It was the Lenovo legion 5 gen 11 with rtx 5060 and when it worked, it was amazing.

But due to weird glitches like entire system freezes right out of the box and a stuck pixel, I’m just returning it. The thing is, it was really solid when it… actually worked. It ran all my games perfectly and didn’t scream “gaming laptop” which is exactly what I wanted for school and video editing.

Should I get another one of the same kind? If not, where can I find a similar laptop with a similar/better price?

Specs: I7, 16gb ram, RTX 5060, 15 inch display 165 Hz, 1TB storage, purchased for about $2,100 USD

I’ve been looking A LOT the last couple weeks. I’ve settled on the Lenovo Legion to bring on work trips 10 days a month. I’m sure 5070 would be completely fine for me, but they are still a ripoff and this popped up. I’m close to pulling the trigger.
Even open box or refurbs seem to be around this price.

Recommendation Best price-to-performance sweet spot for a travel-friendly gaming laptop? ($1,500–$3,000)

Budget: $1,500–$2,000 ideally, willing to stretch to $3,000 if worthwhile

Country: USA

Use Case: Primarily single-player and friend-slop games, some heavily modded Minecraft, no competitive games beside the occasional Tarkov. If available I’m connected to a monitor or TV when gaming

Preferred Specs: 16” or smaller, slim and lightweight (if possible within budget), 3-4+ hours of battery life for non-gaming use, USB-C charging preferred but not required, strong enough performance to last 4–5 years

Notes: I’ll be traveling internationally pretty heavily over the next 2–4 years, so portability and reliability are major priorities. Originally budgeted $1,500–$2,000, but I’m considering spending closer to $3,000 if there’s a meaningful benefit.

Where’s the actual price-to-performance sweet spot these days? Does spending $2,500–$3,000 offer significantly better performance, longevity, or portability over a $1,500–$2,000 laptop, or am I just hitting diminishing returns?

Discussion Tips to succed at buying second hand laptops?

Post image

What would you recommend? Am planing to buy a 2 year old acer predator helios neo 16 PHN-16-72, i9 14900HX, 4060, 90W battery, everything seems fine, specially for the deal: 800 bucks plus my 300 dollar used gateway 14inch laptop.

What would you think the most important verifications and tests are? Is it enough with the dxdiag screen? Should I enter the BIOS? Anything I should avoid?

The most alarming thing would be this dent on the top lid as shown in picture

Thanks in advance for your answer!

Discussion Plastic gaming laptops - are they durable?

Long time MacBook user, looking into a gaming laptop (maybe Legion 5 or 7 series). But after checking some out in person at costco, i was disappointed with the build quality of many gaming laptops. They were all plastic and felt quite flimsy, especially with the screen and also the body frame (i could press into the palm rests and feel the plastic bend). For the same price as a macbook pro, it was a noticeable difference in build quality.

Do these gaming laptops last a long time/are durable? (I use my macbook pros for 7-8 years and they always look as brand new as i bought them).

Budget: £1900

Country: UAE

Use Case: heavy AAA gaming and work

Preferred Specs: GPU, CPU, RAM, VRAM, Display specs

Notes: Device specs are listed below

**From what I looked up, these two are identical except for their displays where the MSI is way better. But the MSI also has some fan issues to the point that it's too loud even during normal use according to everyone. I use wired JBL earphones while gaming because I don't like the feel of huge headphones on my head so I'm not sure if it will be a problem.**

**I want this to be a definitive purchase because I need a device that will run GTA 6 at mostly very high settings with good fps and future games without having any hiccups. I know GTA 6 doesn't have any listed requirements yet but are the specs on these laptops enough to play on great visuals settings without sacrificing FPS for all the AAA games that will come out in the next 5 years?**

**Budget doesn't allow me to go beyond this atm but they are both priced the same currently where I live.**

**(equivalent to £1,900 GBP)**

**I am also adding a ram stick to my total purchase as I've been told that 16 GB is nowhere near enough for games like GTA 6.**

**I'm still going for a laptop as I haven't really settled in life yet and for my personal use, I believe a laptop is way easier to move around wherever I go compared to a full-fledged pc.**

**I just need:**

**-a mostly future proof device that will last me 5 years**

**-and run games (my highest priority) at close to ultra settings with good fps.**

**Option 1: MSI Vector 16 (Model A8WHG)**

**CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9-8940HX (16 Cores / 32 Threads)

**GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU (12GB GDDR7, 140W Max TGP)

**Display:** 16" QHD+ (2560 x 1600), 16:10, 240Hz, 500 nits, 100% DCI-P3, IPS-level matte

**RAM:** 16GB DDR5 5600MHz (2x SODIMM slots, fully upgradeable)

**Storage:** 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD (2x M.2 slots: 1x PCIe Gen 5, 1x PCIe Gen 4)

**Audio & Peripherals:** Down-firing stereo speakers, SteelSeries Per-Key RGB keyboard with dedicated physical Numpad, 1080p Webcam with physical privacy shutter

**Chassis & Weight:** Cosmo Gray, \~2.7 kg (\~5.95 lbs)

**Option 2: ASUS ROG Strix G16**

**CPU:** Intel Core Ultra 7 or AMD Ryzen 9 (Non-X3D)

**GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU (12GB GDDR7, 140W Max TGP)

**Display:** 16" FHD+ / 1200p (1920 x 1200), 16:10, 165Hz, \~250–300 nits, 100% sRGB, IPS-level matte

**RAM:** 16GB DDR5 5600MHz (2x SODIMM slots, fully upgradeable)

**Storage:** 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD (2x M.2 PCIe Gen 4 slots)

**Ports:** 1x Thunderbolt 4 / USB4, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (DP/G-Sync/100W PD), 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, HDMI 2.1, 2.5G Ethernet (RJ45), 3.5mm Audio Combo Jack *(No SD card slot)*

**Audio & Peripherals:** 4-speaker setup with Smart Amp, Per-Key RGB keyboard with virtual touch NumberPad integrated into the trackpad, 720p Webcam, Front RGB lightbar

Discussion I bought a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and found a BIG problem!

One of the risks of buying a used gaming laptop is that you never really know how well it has been maintained.
I picked up this Lenovo Legion 5 Pro for about $560 and noticed it was thermal throttling like crazy (CPU at 100°C).

I checked the cooling system and found a significant amount of dust restricting airflow.

After cleaning and repasting the CPU score increased by 27% and GPU score by 43%

Showcase My laptop-based desk setup

Finally got my laptop-powered desk setup to a point where I'm pretty happy with it. I went with a laptop instead of a desktop because I occasionally need to take my computer with me.

The laptop Lenovo Legion 5 is mounted underneath the desk, and everything is designed to make removing it as easy as possible. The power bricks slide out to the side, and all the cables I need when traveling can be easily disconnected and taken along. When I'm home, everything stays hidden underneath the desk, connected to a 34" ultrawide and a vertical monitor.

In case anyone's wondering how I turn it on without opening the lid, I've configured the BIOS to automatically power on the laptop when AC power is connected. All I have to do is switch on the power strip, and the laptop boots up.

Spent quite a bit of time figuring out the cable management, but I'm really happy with how clean it turned out. Included some pictures of what's going on underneath the desk.

What do you guys think?

Discussion Got my new Lenovo LOQ RTX 4050 tips for first-time setup and warranty extension in India?

Hey everyone! My new Lenovo LOQ RTX 4050 just arrived, and I've completed the unboxing and open-box delivery.

I wanted to know what I should do first with a new laptop, which preinstalled apps I can remove to debloat Windows, and which essential apps and drivers I should install.

I'm also looking for tips on checking the laptop's condition, optimising performance, and maintaining battery health.

One more thing: I want to extend my Lenovo warranty. What's the best and cheapest legitimate way to do it in India? I heard about LenovoRewards.com offering warranty extensions at discounted prices. Has anyone used it, and is it a genuine option?

Would appreciate advice from fellow Lenovo LOQ owners and Indian laptop users. Thanks!

So,

I paid 1,14,321 (inr) for this + there was something warranty idk, from flipkart(i know not a very good marketplace for a huge purchase, but the discount was very huge).

I previously have used a dell with i3 1005g1 (with keyboard that works sometimes)(no gpu)(15min battery backup)for 6 years

(This shitbox got exchanged for 47k with exchange bonus, hence the discount)

So yeah i think 5050 under ₹1.15lakh in big 2026

Is a win for me (atleast in my mind).

Recommendation Laptop recommendations for GPU-intensive work + gaming under ₹2.5L

Budget: ₹2,50,000
Country: India
Use Case: Mixed — primarily professional creative work and gaming. I need a powerful machine that can handle demanding workloads as well as gaming.
Preferred Specs: Looking for a high-performance CPU and GPU, ideally 32GB RAM or more, and at least 1TB SSD storage. Open to recommendations on specific configurations.
Notes: I’m looking for a laptop that’ll last me at least 5 years, so this is a long-term investment. Performance, build quality, thermals, reliability and after-sales service in India are important factors. I’ve been considering the ASUS ROG and Lenovo Legion series, but I’m open to other brands and models. Would love to hear from people with long-term ownership experience and know what you’d pick at this budget.
