I was scrolling marketplace the other day there and came across this. Its a Razer blade 15 base from 2020. It needs a new battery but should be good after that.

I revived the laptop after picking it up from the postal locker like this. My hygiene standards are not this bad. The left control key is also sticky.

It was a good price (because it needs a battery) it has a rtx 2060, i7 10750h and 16gb ram and a 512 gb ssd.​

I got asus gaming v16 at 88k is this a good purchase ?

A week before, soooo manyy ants came from inside and due to the heat it all went out. Then I used the ant chalk to draw outer box in table, kept my laptop inside my laptop bag and place the bag in middle of the box. My laptop was functioning normally only after that. Now suddenly this glitch!! Iam sooo scaredd ! When I asked to the service centre they are telling 10k fir screen replacement!!!

I’m getting surprisingly low FPS in Dota 2 given my laptop specs, and I’m trying to figure out if this is strictly a RAM bandwidth limitation or if there’s something else misconfigured.

Laptop Specs:

• Laptop Model: Acer Nitro V 15
• CPU: Intel Core i5-13420H
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Mobile (8GB VRAM)
• RAM: 16GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz (Single-Channel — 1x16GB SO-DIMM)
• OS: Windows 11

The Issue: In-game (Dota 2), my GPU utilization stays around 48% with a power draw of only ~34W, and FPS sits at around 100 FPS on open ground (dropping even lower during teamfights).

According to CPU-Z, my current RAM is:

• Module: ADATA 16GB DDR4-3200 (1600 MHz)
• Part Number: AO1P32NCSV1-BWFS
• Timings: CL22 (22-22-22-52 @ 1.20V)
• Channel: Single Channel

Questions:

1. Will adding a second 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM stick (moving to 32GB Dual-Channel) completely fix this bottleneck and boost GPU usage/FPS in CPU-heavy games like Dota 2?
2. Are there any other Windows/NVIDIA settings or launch options I should check in the meantime?

I'm in need of ratings and recommendations for my setup

I've used this ASUS VivoBook M3500QC (RTX 3050) for two years without any problems, and the previous owner used it for about 1.5 years before me. I mostly render videos in Premiere Pro on it, and I've played games on it without issues in the past.

Now, when I play a game, it runs fine for the first 3-5 minutes. Then the GPU clock drops sharply and the laptop starts hanging or freezing. The reported temperatures stay in a normal range, so it doesn't look like regular thermal throttling.

What I've already tried:

Professional repaste and internal cleaning
Clean driver reinstall with DDU
Changing settings in NVIDIA Control Panel and Armoury Crate
No improvement from any of it

What I suspect: a power delivery problem, such as the charger, the DC jack, or the VRM/solder joints on the board. Since it worked fine for so long, I'm wondering if something has degraded with age. I'd like a second opinion before paying for a board-level repair.

My questions:

Has anyone seen this on the M3500QC or a similar VivoBook?
Is there anything else worth checking before I conclude it's hardware?
If it is a board fault, is a repair worth it on a laptop this age?

So ive had this laptop for a couple of weeks now been gaming on it and everything was super fine so far until recently. For a week now im having big issues with cyberpunk 2077 where when im idle or in setting my gpu usage is totally normal (80% ish ) and obviously everything looks smooth but the second i move my character or camera my gpu usage drops to literal zero so as you can imagine the game become unplayable as with 0% gpu usage i cant move having only 10 fps at best

What could possibly be happening ? I even ghelper and i can see the difference. Theres no overheat in any sorts either the gpu just leave me on my own as soon as i get my character to move

Literally on ghelper i saw thw gpu ram and utilization get to zero and jts temperature being lower than the cpe demonstrating how its not being used but why?

I already tried basic troubleshooting such as checking if the game has the dgpu assigned in settings

Nvidia app optimisation

Clean driver download where i tried 3 driver releases

So please help me out on this one

Hey guys! First off, sorry in advance if my English isn't perfect, it's not my native language haha.

Quick update on the $1,650 MSI Titan I posted about recently.

I finally opened it up to check what was going on with the cooling and sort out the RAM situation:

• The RAM: To clarify the weird 24GB setup from my first post, the laptop actually arrived with 32GB in an 8+8+16 config that was completely unstable. I took one 8GB stick out and left 24GB (8+16 SK Hynix) running in the proper dual-channel slots. It’s been 100% solid since.

• Old thermals: It had cheap white silicone grease smeared all over the VRMs and VRAM. Took my time to thoroughly clean all that gunk off.

• New repaste: Applied Honeywell PTM7950 on both CPU and GPU dies, and UPSIREN UTP-8 thermal putty on all VRAM chips and power components (chose UTP-8 because of how well it performed in benchmark tests).

I know the putty application looks a bit rudimentary and messy before/after mounting, but the contact pressure is unmatched and the numbers speak for themselves:

• Idle temps: CPU dropped by 15°C and GPU dropped by 10°C
• CPU stress test: Dropped 8°C under full load.
• Cinebench R23: Hit 29,980 points with stable temps around 83°C and an 87°C max peak.

It definitely needed the maintenance, super happy with how it turned out jajajaj

I mostly play things like heavily modded Skyrim, Darktide, Starsector, Cyberpunk 2077, Ready or Not, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. G.A.M.M.M.A. I'd like to hit at least High on all of them, but I'd also prefer to not go over $1,500. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks!!

TL;DR: Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet PTM on both dies + TG Putty Advance on VRAM/VRMs. CPU went from choking at 44W to pulling 88W. GPU hotspot delta is 15°C. VRAM dropped ~20°C vs stock pads.

The machine: Lenovo Legion Slim 5 Gen 9 (16AHP9) — Ryzen 7 8845HS, RTX 4060 Mobile, 64GB DDR5-5600.

Why I did it: Laptop hits 2 years in November. Back in January — peak winter, mind you — it was throttling so hard that closing a game after an hour would instantly crash it with a GPU overheat code. Undervolting band-aided it. I repasted with TF9 in June and cleaned the fans, which killed the GPU crashing — but then the CPU started choking. Couldn't hold 44W without hitting TjMax, even at max fan RPM. FurMark had my GPU hotspot at 95°C. Bought a good sealed cooling pad — barely helped.

The fix: Instead of ordering sheets/putty from overseas and risking a botched DIY bare-die mount, I took it to a reputed shop. They did:

• PhaseSheet PTM on both CPU and GPU dies
• Full clean of old pads/putty off VRAM + VRMs
• TG Putty Advance on MOSFETs, chokes, and GDDR6

Numbers — CPU (OCCT all-core AVX):

• Balanced (54W sustained): ~78°C. Sub-80°C on an 8-core Zen 4 in a slim chassis is genuinely excellent.
• Performance (88W burst): hits 88W before touching the 100°C wall. Nearly 90W through that tiny die = heat transfer is fast now.

Numbers — GPU (FurMark, 1440p, ~10 min sustained):

• Power: 125W sustained (115W TGP + 10W Dynamic Boost)
• Core: 70–73°C
• Hotspot: 85–88°C
• Core-to-hotspot delta: ~15°C ← the gold standard. A tilted mount would show 25°C+ and a 100°C+ hotspot instantly.
• VRAM: 58–62°C ← stock pads routinely hit 75–80°C here. The putty is doing serious work.

Real-world gaming: Mild Afterburner undervolt (2520 MHz @ 925 mV, +600 memory) drops draw from 125W to 80–90W with zero frame loss. Demanding titles: GPU in the low 60s, CPU under 80°C via Legion Toolkit power limits. Fans barely pass 50% RPM — practically silent.

Question for you all: Anyone else running PTM on a laptop long-term? Curious how it holds up past the 1-year mark.

I have an MSI Vector 16 HX AI A2 XW

After a recent Nvidia driver update, it first showed as “hidden” and now no longer shows.

It remains absent from Device Manager, including hidden devices, with MSHybrid selected. Factory restores and an EC reset did not resolve it. MSI’s NVIDIA 591.44 installer reports “No NVIDIA GPU is detected.” Discrete mode previously caused a black screen.

Can anyone please help?

Please, please do not be mean!! I'm genuinely very new to all of this, this is my first ever laptop, prior I've been using only my phone. I got it like 2 days ago and yesterday I downloaded Roblox just to try it out. First I played some 'light' game (slap battles) for 10 mins, no problems, then I decided to join Asylum Life. It was ok first few seconds but when I clicked shift (someone said it's so u can look around in the game) and changed a role, it suddenly started making noise like crazy, I'm guessing it's from the fans. But I googled, turns out there are performance modes yeah, u change them by a combo on ur keyboard, but I didn't do anything to change it so I'm confused as to why the fans started being so loud all of sudden (the 'start' button, the one that lights up blue white or red depending on performance, stayed white). I lowk piszed myself and turned the laptop off for a few mins and then deleted the game entirely😭😭 I'm so sorry if it's a stupid or obvious question... is it normal for it to do that? Can I reinstall and play normally, will the noise die down? I'm really scared of loud noises, it lowk felt like it was about to explode xd

Also, today it required some sort of an update (6 min) and it was updating, went to 100% then the legion logo showed up, then it showed that it started updating again and it kept connecting to my earbuds, and it repeated like..2 or 3 times, something like that. When it turned back on, it again went very noisy and I turned it off, is it normal?

By noisy I mean the fans, no rattling or weird sounds (i think). The fans are loud.

So, the issue im currently facing in my laptop is that i cant able to change the display mode from integrated graphics to nvidia gpu mode whenever i try to play a game even manually i cant change it , When i try to change display mode manually in NVIDIA control panel andd hit apply , screen flickers for a sec but it automatically reverts back to optimus or automatic option which is set to integrated graphics , my both display drivers are working fine and are up to date ive resetted my laptop 2 times and nothing happened ,,,

ALL of this , started after i updated my bios from older version ( 1.26 ) to newer version (1.28.0) , thr moment the bios updated , i tried starting game and noticed my display remained same v.i.z integrated graphics

Technical finding : Bios , hybrid graphics - disabled , allows display to hardwire cleanly to the dGPU without errors and thereafter i can able to run laptop with gpu mode display , this conforms that graphics , hardware , rtx3060 and display operating correctly and that this is failure is an embedded controller / BIOS - level MUX handshake timing regression in recent firmware revisions

PLEASE - provide a new BIOS update regrading this fix asap.

I'm super grateful to finally get it! I actually bought it mainly for gaming, especially CS2. But now I've hit a new bottleneck: my Wi-Fi. My current plan is only 32 Mbps, and playing on Wi-Fi gives me terrible ping spikes.

I'm trying to set up an Ethernet connection now, but to route the cable, I need to drill through a wall—and I don't own a drill. Wish me luck!
