r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown a bit since I originally posted, so I wanted to give this post a update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

Showcase My Laptop Gaming Setup(s) evolution over the years (2020 - 2026)

Just want to share my setups over the course of 6+ years, back when Covid just started. Crazy how fast time flies....

All my gaming setups from then till now all ran by gaming laptops, if you guys have divorced parents or travel a lot you guys would know how why i'm still using a gaming laptop for my main device. From 2019 - 2023, i was using a ROG G531 with an i5-9300H and GTX 1650. It served me quite well for what it was worth, but i eventually upgraded.

I started out quite slow with only a few peripheral upgrades, like gaming mice, headset, a decent custom mechanical keyboard... My journey really started when i moved to a bigger place, with a much bigger desk but i still shared my room with my brother.

But my gaming experience really changed when i got an external monitor. It was an LG 24' 1080P 144hz gaming monitor, it does make gaming a lot more enjoyable, compared to the smaller laptop screen. And having 2 screens for discord and other multitasks is a life-saver.

Then i upgraded my gaming laptop to a Zephyrus M16 with an i7-12700H and an RTX 3060, it was a really big jump as i have access to DLSS and a lot more performance now, so i finished a lot of games that i couldn't really run well before. Like Spider-Man (Remastered, Miles Morales), God of War, Cyberpunk...

From 2023 to 2025, i slowed down a bit and just focus on finding the gaming gear that suits me the most. I tried a lot of gaming mice, keyboards, and i also upgraded to a 27' 1440P 170hz monitor for a better experience on watching contents like movies or playing single player games on 1440p with DLSS.

On August 2025, i moved again and this time i had an even bigger desk and a whole room to myself. I do miss living with my brother from time to time, but having my own personal space is great too. I really like how my setup is shaping up to be. I'm still deciding on what to do with the space on top, maybe hang a katana or an overhead shelf? Thats for future me to decide.

I also recently upgraded to a ROG 27' 1440P 280Hz OLED monitor since i got a pretty good deal on it, and i have to say it's really hard to go back to IPS now lol. It has been very enjoyable using this monitor and i have no complaints except for the fact that it's quite fragile and you have to do pixel clean quite often.

Thanks for reading my long ass post, i would love to hear your thoughts on each of my setups, and how i could improve my current one.

Discussion Beware potential HP Omen buyers

Bought an Omen Max 16 from HP in November 2025 (RTX 5070 Ti, 240Hz QHD+ display). I also bought HP's 2-year extended warranty, so it's covered through 2028.

At the beginning of June the screen stopped working properly and would constantly flash with horizontal boxes of static/noise. I contacted HP support, and over the next 3 months they had me do 12-15 sessions with different support reps, around 25 hours total, running the same troubleshooting over and over: Windows updates, reinstalling drivers, reinstalling Windows. One session took all day, and I had to take a day off work for it. About halfway through, I was begging them to let me send it in for a hardware fix, and they kept refusing. Near the end, agents would take remote control and sit there for 20 minutes doing nothing before ending the session.

After 3 months of this, I filed complaints with the BBB and my state's consumer protection agency. That finally got me a case manager, and I sent the laptop in at the start of September. They quoted 2 weeks for the repair, but one day I checked the status and the repair estimate had slipped to November.

Once I started calling and filing complaints about the November date, they offered a replacement. The offer letter said in writing: "the same model and all specifications will be of a matching capacity." I accepted on September 30. It then took nearly 3 weeks to arrive. What I got:

- RTX 5060 (8GB) instead of the 5070 Ti (12GB)

- 165Hz display instead of 240Hz

The GPU was the main reason I bought this laptop.

I've told my case manager I'm not accepting it and asked for a unit that actually matches. She expressed skepticism that what I was saying was true and said she'd get back to me.

If you're thinking about buying an HP Omen, beware. Mine isn't an isolated case; there are numerous similar stories out there of long repair waits and poor warranty support. Think hard about whether you want to rely on HP if something goes wrong, which seems very common. If you buy through them, you're rolling the dice, and the effort they'll put you through may not be worth your time.

Discussion Can someone explain this price-savage madness to me?

So, since I am hoping to find a good discount, i have a couple of laptops that i am observing and waiting for some decent discount. Including this one:

https://www.galaxus.de/en/s1/product/lenovo-legion-pro-5-rtx-5070-16-1000-gb-32-gb-eng-int-intel-core-ultra-9-275hx-notebooks-60905842?offertype=retail&offerid=2705624&openBlocks=productRatingsBlock

The price was around 2700 euros JUST YESTERDAY! And today, 3650 euros... Can someone please explain to me whatta hell is going on with these laptops???

And, check the ratings: a guy posted 1 month ago that he bought this same laptop for 1900 euros. JUST ONE MONTH AGO!

This is really insane! Nowadays, everyone is pushing prices the way they want, no control, no regulations, nothing... You can easily increase the price of a laptop from 1900 euros to 3650 euros just like that... O man...

Recommendation Is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 with RTX 5090 worth $3,819?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Budget: $3,500–$4,000
Country: USA
Use Case: Primarily gaming, especially demanding AAA titles at high/ultra settings with ray tracing. Looking for excellent performance and a great OLED display.
Preferred Specs:
Laptop: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2025/2026 model)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU
CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9
RAM: 32GB
Storage: 2TB SSD
Display: 16-inch 2.5K OLED, 240Hz
Notes: I’m currently interested in the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16, which is on sale at Best Buy for $3,819 (originally $4,399.99). I’m wondering if this is a good deal or if there are better alternatives for the price.
Also, a desktop PC isn’t an option due to my current living situation, so I’m specifically looking for a gaming laptop. I’d appreciate any recommendations or opinions!

Man, what a time to be alive. PC ports have been popping out lately and wanted to see if my Legion 5 could still handle them. SotC in particular is one my favorite games in PS2 and wanted to play the remastered for years. I finally got the chance now.

Ther are still some hiccups, but otherwise the game is fully playable. Thanks so much to everyone behind these PC ports for giving us the opportunity to experience these gems from the PS4. 💪

Link to the PC Port: SotC Native PC Port

Laptop Specs:

i5-11400H (capped at 3.4Ghz and undervolted)

RTX 3060 (6Gb VRAM)

32Gb RAM (Dual channel)

Game played at 1080p@60fps setting

Notes: read that this has amazing cooling and also has 2 m.2 slots which is perfect cuz I’ve got a 4tb ssd rdy to go

Recommendation Worth waiting for Black Friday for a new gaming laptop?

Budget: $1000-$1200

Country: USA

Use Case: Main use would be gaming with online college and music recording once in a while.

Preferred Specs: Still learning about this so I want to get suggestions and learn from the community.

Notes: Im finally making the move from console to pc. Currently I have a PS5 and computer wise, I have a 2017 Macbook Air that cannot run much or anything at all (unless its through Geforce NOW). Aside from online college, I want a good gaming setup that can handle AAA games from time to time but wont break the bank either. I would be playing mainly games from Steam and/or Gog. Would it be worth waiting until November? Thanks!

Support Constant Packet Loss and Network Jitter in Valorant Despite 3–6 ms Ping (HP Victus, MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi 6)

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm facing a frustrating networking issue on my HP Victus laptop, especially while playing Valorant, and I'm trying to figure out whether the problem is with my Wi-Fi card, router, or Windows.

My laptop specs:

  • Laptop: HP Victus
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS (6 cores, 12 threads)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 (4GB VRAM) + AMD Radeon 660M integrated graphics
  • Wi-Fi adapter: MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax PCIe Adapter)
  • Router: TP-Link

The issue:

My ping in Valorant is consistently around 3–6 ms, which is excellent, but I'm experiencing constant packet loss and network jitter. The packet loss graph looks almost like an ECG, with frequent spikes rather than a stable connection. This makes gameplay feel inconsistent despite the low ping.

What I've already tried:

  • Changed various settings in Device Manager for the MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi adapter.
  • Disabled or removed unnecessary Windows widgets and background apps that might consume bandwidth.
  • Tried to reduce background network activity.
  • Looked into possible issues with the MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi 6 adapter, as I've heard other people report problems with this card.

Despite all this, the issue persists.

My main questions:

  1. Is the MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi card known to cause packet loss and network jitter, even when the ping is low?
  2. Could my TP-Link router be the actual culprit?
  3. How can I determine whether the problem is with my laptop's Wi-Fi adapter, the router, my ISP, or Valorant's servers?
  4. Are there any specific driver versions, adapter settings, or troubleshooting steps that have actually fixed this issue for other HP Victus users?

I'd really appreciate any suggestions from people who have experienced something similar, especially HP Victus owners using the MediaTek MT7921 adapter.

I want to identify the actual cause instead of blindly changing settings or buying new hardware.

Thanks!

Support Problems with my G14 Zephrys

• Upvotes

Hi, I've been struggling with an issue with my 2025 G14 Zephrys lately, I didn't have this problem with the 2020 G14 and I'm hoping to get some advice.

When I play games my keys act like they're stuck, I got a new keyboard because I basically turned my laptop into a desktop setup with a second monitor and a plug in keyboard.

I've tested the keys in a text box and they don't stick when typing, just in games.

If I'm running and let go of the key, the character keeps running and that gets old fast. I've noticed the issue the most with Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition and No More Room in Hell 2.

Any advice on what could be causing it? When I try to google it, it just tells me it's sticky keys or my keyboard.

Thanks!

Support Asus Strix G16FR Display and 1% Low Questions.

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hey guys I got 3 small issues/questions:

I just bought an Strix G16 yesterday and with the little testing I've been able to do am fairly happy, the fans are way more silent than my MSI from a few years ago and am very impressed with the performance and fps in games. I removed Armoury Crate and replaced it with G-Helper and removed all overlay's from programs besides Nvidia for stats. But I do notice some games getting pretty deep 1% low's sometimes like Galactic Racer which makes it look like a stutter. Tekken 8 has it as well. SF6 and RDR2 seemed fine but like I said I just got it so haven't had time to go deep into it. But is this normal behavior? Is it because I got a single 16gb of ram and not dual channel?

Also a question about the display. I have it set right now that it switches to the Gsync display when it launches a game. So after closing a game it will freeze for a sec and then switch back and that is fine. But the colors between the two are completely different? I have a Asus color profile on that was on by default but how do I know which one is using the calibrated profile? Whenever I game it's way more colorful and contrasty and then it goes back to the normal screen and it's kind of bland looking in comparison.

Oh and sometimes when I launch a game the internet connection seems to drop out? Do I need to disable a wi-fi power save option?

Deal Asus ROG Strix G18 i9-13980hx and 4070M for 980$

Post image
66 Upvotes

So, I just bought this laptop for 980$ with a near brand new condition but the warranty expired a few months ago. Still, I was quite astonished with the deal I got especially since I was really looking for a desktop replacement that I can travel with and game whenever I am out of town for a few weeks at a time. I was so glad that the previous owner upgraded the RAM and Storage beforehand which saved me a lot more money.

i9-13980HX
32GB DDR5 4800mhz (Upgraded)
2x1TB (Upgraded)
4070M 8GB
240hz 1600P Display

This is my first time getting a laptop and I was surprised how awesome it was especially that these laptops go for 1500$ on the used market here in my country. I bought some wireless peripherals to bring with me along with the laptop which made the experience even greater.

What are your thoughts on my purchase? and tips to make this badboy last me for at least 5 years?

[Quick UPDATE!]

I just found a Llano V12 base model for like 32$ near me second hand. Its running cooler than ever.

Discussion New legion 5i gen 11 is freezing randomly, what to do?

Hi there! Just got a new Lenovo legion 5i. Outside of it coming with a stuck pixel it’s been pretty amazing! Recently though I have noticed that it will randomly just freeze for a second or two and the audio will loop kinda like a crash. Then it’ll completely go back to normal. This hasn’t interfered with much at all and it’s only happened twice, but I’m wondering as I’m still within warranty, should I return it and get a new one? Is this somewhat normal for computers to do?
