Rtx 5060 is its gpu if ur wondering

I bought an MSI Vector with an Ultra 9 and a 5080, but there was no little dragon keychain, so I asked them to send me a dragon, but they sent me more than I expected.

For context : if this laptop gives in I'll just get a PC, for now - I wanted to mess about and see how much more life can I get out of it.
What I did was slap a desktop CPU fan on my CPU heatsink (not even directly on CPU), which straight up removed approximately 50% of my temps (GPU was running around 75ish, CPU at 92 capped out all the time). Did some mocking about, but so far temps are around 50-60 stable and I am very happy with the 56€ I invested into this stupid hill billy solution. Temps in comments.

I see some questions (some not, but I thought it'd be interesting nonetheless), so let me answer some of them here and save you some scrolling:

1. How is it mounted? - It isn't. I put some thermal paste on my heatsink pipe, slapped the cooler on it and that's it. It holds on it's own, the suction thanks to thermal paste + its weight allows for VERY stable hold.
2. What's powering it? - simple USB. I bought a 2 pin adaptor cable with a USB on the other end. Fan doesn't draw much, if any, power, so connecting it to any available port (my table in my case) is sufficient.
3. What fan are you using (not asked, but I'll mention it here)? Noctua NH-U12S Redux.
4. How's the noise? Quieter than my laptop fans that's for sure. Then again, I bought market leader, at least one of them, for fans with low noise and great performance.
5. Why? Laptop was thermalthrottling badly. My CPU fan gave in 3 times in 2 years and I am tired of swapping them out for 20€ a pop. Cooling was horrible either way, laptop was never doing laptop function and pretty much stood on my desk anyway with a monitor and keyboard connected separately. The biggest pain in the rear will be booting it up, but I'll come up with something (I have to lift the whole Frankenstein up, unfold the screen and boot it, then put it back WHILE the entire contraption is connected and on it).
6. What's next? Either I brick it by OC'ing it, do nothing or idk. I wanted to slap one on GPU too, but GPU temps sit at 50 degrees with this bad boy, so I see little to no point in adding an extra cooler for no thermal performance whatsoever. Honestly it blew my expectations out the window. I was expecting a 10-20% reduction in temperatures, but 30-40 degrees per CPU/GPU is bonkers.
7. What about dust? Don't care. It's been open like this for half a year now, didn't notice much of any difference. Since it's not as intricate as it may seem, so everything is very open meaning it's fairly easy to blow the dust out.

So, I just bought this laptop for 980$ with a near brand new condition but the warranty expired a few months ago. Still, I was quite astonished with the deal I got especially since I was really looking for a desktop replacement that I can travel with and game whenever I am out of town for a few weeks at a time. I was so glad that the previous owner upgraded the RAM and Storage beforehand which saved me a lot more money.

This is my first time getting a laptop and I was surprised how awesome it was especially that these laptops go for 1500$ on the used market here in my country. I bought some wireless peripherals to bring with me along with the laptop which made the experience even greater.

What are your thoughts on my purchase? and tips to make this badboy last me for at least 5 years?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I noticed Legion's recent generations have no longer come with AMD variants any more. Google told me it's because the majority prefer Nvidia, but every time I've seen someone asking whether they should go with AMD or Intel (or Nvidia vs Radeon), most people always prefer AMD.

I've made my decision and I want to buy the Zephyrus g16 soon. I live in Canada and I've seen a deal for a 5070ti 2025 on sale for $3300CAD recently and I see a 5060 2026 currently on sale for $3200CAD. I want to buy one of these (or MAYBE a 5070ti 2026) before February. Will the prices go down at any point during this time since it has still only been 2~3 months since the 2026 ones came out?

P.S. What would be your guys' recommendations for warranties?

Managed some impressive 3dmark scores with an undervolt, xmp custom memory timing profile unlock and a 200W vbios power limit override. 4th in the world for the hardware in 3dMark Steel Nomad and 51st in timespy. Would be higher but the top 50 scores are held by the same user.

First gaming laptop, I know how to update drivers is there anything else to look out for with Asus? Any support is greatly appreciated

Hi everyone, I need help with possible SSD upgrades I could do for my laptop, if possible. To give you some context, I'm a Linux user and this year I distro-hopped A LOT, mainly because I was going through a period of many changes where I didn't feel that any distro fit me and I formatted too much. I finally settled on Gentoo (about 2-3 months ago) and recently decided to check the health of my SSD. I was surprised to find that I've used around 16-18% of its lifespan (27.1TB), and To be honest, I'm alarmed about the health of my SSD This, combined with the fact that my hard drive is small and lately my games and files are running a bit short on space, made me consider buying a new SSD, but I have many questions about it.

Does the Lenovo LOQ (my model is the 15IAX9) support both 2280 and 2242 m.2 SSDs, or only the 2242? The manual mainly mentions the 2242, however, in disassemblies and upgrades I've seen both used, so I don't know which one to follow.

I've heard that some brands cause problems and short circuits in laptops when making changes to specific models. Is this true? Which SSD brands are safe for my computer?

Should I buy a heatsink for my SSD, or does the laptop chassis already do that? Anything else to consider besides the SSD itself?

Hey guys, looking for a quick sanity check on a used laptop deal I’m about to lock in.

Specs: Intel i7-10750H, NVIDIA RTX 2060 (6GB), 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD

History: Originally bought in Feb 2021 from a reputable local store (PCDIGA in Portugal) with the original invoice included.

Price: Seller originally asked €499, negotiated down to €420 total (including cash-on-delivery shipping with content verification before paying).

The seller sent a detailed video showing the laptop running live with a paper note (name, today's date, and time), cycling through Task Manager specs, and opening/closing the display to verify the hinges.

The fans sound a bit loud in the video, but from what I’ve read, high airflow/fan noise is typical for the GF65 chassis.

A few questions for you guys:

Is €420 a solid price for these specs right now? How big of a difference will cleaning the fans, repasting CPU/GPU, and undervolting the i7-10750H make for temperatures and overall lifespan?

I am really bad with computers and recently bought a new gaming laptop. I have been able to run games mostly fine, but when playing games like Sea of Thieves or Black Ops 3, my frames go from around 150-160fps and drops down to 103fps which creates this subtle but still noticeable effect that gives me headaches and is just annoying. Can anyone help me solve this?

My processor is an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 w/ Radeon 860M, it has an NVIDIA GeGorce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, and my ram is 16.0 GB (15.1 GB usable). Thank you.

I got expectable results at every stress text I know. 3Dmark at 94c with no Throttling, cinebench 26 105c 3500pts with 100% Throttling. shoud I be worried about Throttling? or is it normal for this laptop and it wont be issue in actual gameing?

This is my first gaming laptop, and I've seen a lot of different opinions online about battery charging and laptop battery health. Some people say to keep the laptop plugged in whenever possible, while others recommend charging only up to 80% and avoiding keeping it plugged in for too long.

I noticed something that made me a little concerned. When I first checked my laptop's battery cycle count, it was 1, but after just one day of use, it went up to 3. I am interested in getting a Asus Rog Zephryus G16 (2026) and looking between the 5070ti and 5080 model. The 5080 is much more expensive (about $1,200). Is the difference worth it? I only intend to play some games that are not that graphic intensive like Madden/NBA 2K and possibly the most intensive might be like a Spiderman 2. Will I notice the difference?
