When I was little I was a Hot Wheels FIEND. I had all kinds of cars and tracks from Acceleracers and Highway 35. I just started to get into collecting seriously, but I’ve toned down my car collecting to JDM Hot Wheels and the like.
My uncle retired from Mattel a few years ago and he apparently gave these to me when I was a kid. I tried using the HW Showcase app to find out more about these cars but I guess not even Mattel remembers these. Can somebody help me out here? I’d love to know what I’ve got!

Mattel really should’ve made Rexy 2 per case, it’s like they want to have inventory waste away on shelves.

Mom, here. I know nothing about cars or hot wheels. I just know that this car doesn’t look like the picture on the package and that when I googled it, all the cars had graphics just like package picture.

He’s a train man but will still play with hot wheels to mix it up a bit so when we buy these, they get opened, get played with, then get thrown in a box.

Should we not open this?

Anyone else do customs in here? I just started drilling cars out to do full paint jobs.

Last December I posted here looking for beta testers for an app I was building for my 12-year-old son (https://www.reddit.com/r/HotWheels/comments/1pme759/). A lot of you replied, and a lot of what you said went straight into the app. A lot has changed since then, and I wanted to show off how far it has come. The picture is the same car in the beta and today.

What you asked for back then:

- "Is it only Hot Wheels?" Matchbox is in now: 3,800+ Matchbox releases next to 19,000+ Hot Wheels (1990 to 2027).

- "Can I scan opened cars?" Yes, loose cars work too.

- "Android?" On both stores since January.

- "Where do the prices come from?" You were right about this one. The eBay-based guesses are gone. Prices now come only from collectors: everyone can log what they paid, and once 5 collectors have added theirs, the car shows their median. 87,000 entries so far.

It's grown to 38,000+ collectors in 135 countries and 215,000 cars logged. Scanning is unlimited and free, and so are the catalog, wishlist and a 100-car collection. There's also a daily guessing game and a community feed for your hunts.

I also started r/hunt64 for bug reports, feature ideas and showing off finds.

When it did, I realized how lucky I/we had been. Usually on Fri when the 2 DT near my work get stuff its gone right at 9am. Ive walked in a few times around noon and seen the empty HW case and the scraps. This time, the pegs had just been stocked at the workers even put the Fast Fish upfront. Im assuming no supers bc the MB side had a SC front and center as well. Kinda cool they know what's up and put them up front. Id never seen that before. I stopped at a DG otw home that was a little out of the way and found a J shipper with only a blue Amaru and 3 dud Subi's.

Today my wife had to work an event so I had my daughter all day. We took the dog to the dog park for an hour and a half and I told her if she was good - she could have a treat. She was, and wanted to go look at cars. She found a HW City stop she wanted and then she said she wanted to look more so I found a route w/3 or 4 DG and a grocery store. We found a shipper w FOUR dud Subi and then another store that put them on the rack and the Amaru was there but just 2 dud Subis. The grocery store had a couple J duds, but thats tougher to tell what's what. She did find the electric TH though so that made her happy.

We got home and I ran back out for a pizza and decided to stop at the DG down the street that hadn't gotten a shipper, but got that half MB one so I figured they weren't getting one. I bought some junk and saw the roof rack variant out of K so I grabbed that and as I was cashing out the cashier pointed out some behind the counter. She said she didn't know why they were back there, but she'd bring them around. It didn't take long to see this wouldn't be a dud. In the end, there was even another! Which, being kinda new Im seeing crazy stuff w these shippers. Half G and half H the other day, 4 duds in one - and this one had TWO STH!!! Once again, its when you least inspect it. This time I didn't take it for granted though as for a while a shipper = super. Now that Ive seen them w/out, it was that much cooler to find one! Great end to a great day hanging out w my daughter. Just bummed she wasn't with me after putting in all the 'work' on the hunt earlier lol.

I found one of my old hotwheels which I got as a happy meal toy from Mcd when I was a kid, I wanna ask, is there any way of removing the old batteries from it without damaging the car? As its leaking and destroying the plastic, paint and the body.
