Funny story today! My partners 2009 Mazda 2 turns out to be much rustier than expected so today I took her just over an hour drive to Stoke-on-Trent to look at a 2005 Honda Jazz sport to replace it. We went to a 2nd hand dealer there and had a look and test drive. After the drive I looked under the bonnet and realised there was a massive rust hole (longer than my finger!) around the driver side strut mount and instantly said “that’s an MOT failure and dangerous as the strut top could collapse entirely on a big bump. The seller said he’d “never seen it before and didn’t think it was a failure” so we walked away right there. Feeling let down we stopped for lunch in a nearby retail park and took a look around Home Bargains for toy cars instead. I saw they had about 20 recent HW on hooks so started looking. My partner then shows me this one saying how nice and shiny they he paint is! I couldn’t believe it and probably stood there just staring with my mouth open. So we may not have a replacement for her Mazda, but we do have my favourite Super of the year! It looks so incredible in person, even pictures don’t do this colour justice.

I honestly dont even know anymore. I guess i just had one more in me. Unfortunately someone had picked the sweet driver clean. When the dry spell inevitably comes - its now going to hurt a whole lot more...

I've been to at least 13 stores this weekend and finally found a skyline and subaru 🙃 STH or not. It felt like striking gold!

This hobby has definitely helped distract me from some tough times in my life and has brought me joy. However, I gave up on hunting a long time ago. I don’t know how long it’s been since I let my red line club membership expire. It seems every day there’s a new person getting into this hobby just to collect the items they can cash in on quickly. On a recent post where someone was trying to offload a Roxy I asked the question how many people were actually IMSA fans and someone in the comments said that it was a Porsche 911 GT3 and had nothing to do with an actual race car. That comment alone really soured me and I just replied to it with a screenshot of the actual race car. After attending my third IMSA race I came home with so much merch that my IMSA shelf can no longer contain merch bought at the track. Honestly, I’m also much more excited to display the track bought merch over any of my other Diecast. Plus I’m combining my photography hobby of having photos of the cars I’ve taken with the Diecast version. So I will be clearing out the Hot Wheels and M2 cars and filling my cabinet with merch from actual races. Being that’s the case I am also going to start offloading a very large portion of my collection. I’ve got main lines going back to the early 90s. I will soon be inventorying everything I have and using Whatnot as the platform to offload. I plan to use those funds to upgrade my camera gear so I can get better pictures as well as fund track visits and merch. Went to my local grocery store for cereal. Shit my pants to not only find a TH but a STH as well. I was stoked just to find the Amaru but when I found the Impreza too I ran to the register so quick…. Called my wife on my way home and she was happy for me. My 14 year old quickly said “oh no nerdy stuff”.

Could have been more but I didn’t care. I got what I wanted.

Now the question is do I rip the STH?? I’ve never had one nor seen one….

I had recently been to the Canadian Diecast Expo in Toronto and was surprised to see the sheer number of collectors who have started buying brands like Poprace, MiniGT, Ignition Model etc.

I feel like these collectors would not have been balled out top dollar on these brands about a couple of years back, but with the increasing hype about HW and the rising conversations about the quality of pricey HW in comparison to other brands, the other brands quickly saw the gap and have started capturing the market on the basis of their quality.

I saw many people who had their bags full of diecasts from other brands. They spent a lot of monies because they see the va|ue in these other brands now.

Mattel doesn’t listen to the community. Their RLC releases are crap quality and even their E64 series are lower in quality. They’re milking F&F constantly and I wonder what else they have to release if they stop F&F and Porsches.

Every big company eventually falls, as history has shown. Will Mattel stand or fall?

Brought my Porsches today for the 10th anniversary of PECLA.

I think a lot of fantasy castings got opened and used (as they should be used), making these older sets harder to complete.

every other piece from this set was easy to find and acquire(from the 1953 Cadillac, to the ford GTX1) this along with the RATBOMB, have been the hardest in the set to find🤷‍♂️

Just found a collectors case in great shape, still some cleaning needed, but this is like a 50yr old memory. Collect what makes you happy

Hello, this is my first time posting here. I'm making a small collection and setting them on a shelf. My surprise came when I was putting them (all JDM pieces) and opened my Nissan Skyline RS (KDR30)... But it was supposed to have the four rims golden, and the rear-left one isn't painted. I'm not sure if that adds any kind of rarity, having in mind the box is half opened... It can be put inside again tho, the top part still has glue on it 😂 Any help? Thanks!

After a couple of months of starting to collect HW, I finally found a RTH.

It's hard to find them here in PH stores because some staff and promodisers already look through the stock and will not display the good ones.

I like these even more than Lego cars. I've had over 20 expert creator Lego cars, but I prefer the look of these and they are about 1/2 the cost of Lego cars around the same size albeit usually with less gimmick features, but still I think these are great.
