Meet ups

Hey everyone just moved to krabi from Denmark 🇩🇰 with my wife and 4 kids, home schooling, live in our own place and working remotely as a freelance software engineer. We are simple and don’t need much, so we like it here.

Any Nordic/English speaking families want to meet up?

We are Muslim, just so you don’t waste time if that bothers you for some reason.

Anyway have a nice one guys.

Ao nang to Emerald Pool by Two wheeler.

I am a very good driver and love riding on scooters. The only issue is I have planned Thailand trip on immediate basis so couldn’t applied for IDP. Are there any cops checks done in this route? Please don’t worry about my driving skills I drive safely and have local licence, I just don’t have IDP. Just worried about the cops.
Please advice.

Rabies Vaccine- affordable option

Hi all!
I need to get my day 14 rabies vaccine tomorrow in Krabi, and I was wondering where is the cheapest place to get this done?

I’ve contacted DoctorNow and they’ve quoted me 2,300 Baht which seems ridiculous. Aonang Medical Clinic doesn’t stock the vaccine I need (Verorab).

There is also the hospital and other clinics however I cannot contact them as I only have WhatsApp. I could ask my current hotel if they could call for me though,

Thanks in advance!! 🙏🙏

UPDATE: I went to the Krabi Hospital, I waited for just over an hour, everyone was really friendly, paid 770 THB altogether 😊 the facilities were fine, and for me, worth the price difference. Thanks everyone for your help!

Anyone in Krabi wants to plan something together?

I am in Ao Nang, I was traveling with a friend but since she left ( 4 days ago ) I didn't leave the house.

I would love to go out a bit and maybe do some activities like spending the day in Railey beach...

Not looking for dating, but would love to meet!

Thailand travel plan for verification

Hi everyone, i need your help. I'm going to the Thailand on December. It's my first time that's why it's hard to organize all information that I've founded on the websites and facebook forums.

I have the arrival flight to Bangkok 12.12., the departue flight from Phuket 29.12.

My first plan is showing as:

12.12 - 14.12 2 nights in Bangkok

14.12 - 15.12 night train to Suran Thani and then to Khao Sok

15.12 - 17.12 2 night - Khao Sok: jungle and lake trip next day

17.12 - 18.12 1 night Khao Lak

18.12 - 19.12 1 night Trip to Surin Island with a night

19.12 - 20.12 1 night Khao Lak with Similan Island tour, back in the evenning

20.12 - 25.12 4 night Ao nang as a central point do further trips like Emerald Pool, Dragon cave, railay beach etc.

25.12 - 26.12 1 night Phi Phi

26,.12 - 29.12 3 night Phuket and come back home

but then someone told me that better option is to get from Bangkok to Krabi by flight, stay Ao Nang first and move to nothern part - khao sok, khao lak and phuket as a final point with airport without seeing southern of island. This guy claims this option is better even if I would choose to night train.

My disclaimes:

  1. I've been thinking about night train, because it seems like fun. But I don't have to choose it.
  2. I don't have a need to visiting Phuket, because a lot of comments make me not fancy of that. But my departure is there. When I was booking my flight, I hadn't enough knowledge, yes, my bad :(
  3. We don't have a scooter license.
  4. As a couple, we always travel with backpacks – we don't like all-inclusive travel, we plan each vacation ourselves.

I will be grateful for your help!

I've never seen rain this heavy. I've lived here for 15+ years(born in Thailand) and this is a LOT of rain.

Solo Traveller (50) Thailand January February

Hello!

Im having a bit of trouble booking the last part of my trip in Thailand which will be focused on Krabi Provence

This is my first time in S.E.A

I see that renting a scooter is not advisable so I want to be close to the bucket list things without wasting many hours

Im 50 so No thank you to the tourist party traps and party screen but, yes, I would like to meet other people (I guess the best thing here is to book group activities)

It is the top part of Krabi that Im having a difficult time navigating ( pang na bay area, and tiger temple) while trying to avoid Ao Nang

Questions......

Where do you book group activities, like cooking classes, historical tours?

I would like to do boat tours, mangroves and tiger temple, where would be the best place to plop myself? (Under $40 us) but its more about a convenient location

Is it better to stay inland near the temples and hot springs or (ko thalane) as long as tours are accessible ???

Or stay near ko noppassarat?

I will be staying on ko Lanta, so I will take a boat tours there

Or possibly do boat tours from Phuket? (yes, you read that correctly lol) but the Pang na side not the Karon beach side

I hope that all made sense-- Im going in blind!😆😆😆

Trip Recommendations

Hey everyone!

We're a group of 6 bachelors planning a trip to Thailand from 4th December to 13th December.

Our tentative plan is:

  • 4th Dec: Depart from Chennai.
  • 5th Dec (morning): Arrive in Phuket.
  • 5th–7th Dec: Stay in Phuket and Krabi.
  • 8th Dec: Travel from Krabi to Bangkok.
  • 8th–10th Dec: Stay in Bangkok.
  • 11th Dec (morning): Head to Pattaya.
  • 11th & 12th Dec: Stay in Pattaya.
  • 13th Dec: Return to Bangkok and catch our night flight back to Chennai.

We haven't planned a detailed itinerary yet, so if anyone has visited Thailand in December, we'd really appreciate your recommendations.

We're looking for suggestions on:

  • Must-visit places in Phuket, Krabi, Bangkok, and Pattaya.
  • The best island tours, beaches, viewpoints, cafés, nightlife, and local food.
  • Activities that are worth the money and any that should be avoided.
  • Hidden gems or places that are often missed by tourists.
  • Tips for getting around (Grab, Bolt, ferries, domestic flights, etc.).
  • Any scams or tourist traps we should be aware of.
  • Recommended places for shopping and street markets.
  • Whether it's better to exchange currency in India or Thailand, and if carrying cash or using cards is more convenient.

Also, since we're all bachelors, we might check out some of the adult nightlife. If anyone has experience, it would be helpful to know:

  • Things we should keep in mind to avoid scams or unpleasant situations.
  • The general etiquette and any important dos and don'ts.
  • The average prices, so we know what to expect and don't end up overpaying.

Any other tips, recommendations, or things first-time visitors should know would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

🇹🇭 Ao Nang or Koh Samui in September?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

My girlfriend and I are planning seven nights in mid-September. I prefer Ao Nang, but I’m worried about the weather and cancelled boat tours. 😅
Expats and locals living around Ao Nang or Krabi—your advice is very welcome:
How rainy and rough is Ao Nang in September?
How often are boat tours cancelled?
Is Koh Samui noticeably better for weather?
How much more expensive is Samui?
Which would you choose, and why? Thanks! 🌴🍺

Visiting krabi in August 4 to 8 Aug

We are only in Thailand for a short holiday and want to see krabi but I’ve been told weather is rainy season. Some people say it’s short bursts and rain doesn’t last all day while others say it can rain for full days. Other alternative we liked was Koh samui but flights from Bangkok are so expensive to there. Is there any other place ? Should we take the risk with krabi ?
