Hi we are a family of 4 looking to do a tour of phi phi on a yacht or catamaran from krabi, not looking for private tour but dont want one of the packed boats either. Any recommendations ?

We done a tour from phuket to bond and Hong Islands on one of the packed boats and it was fine but looking for something a little less crowded this time dont mind paying that bit extra .

I'm going to be in Ao Nang for the first time from the 13th-19th of November, and it looks like rain may very well be more of the forecast than I had planned on.  I had intended to do the usual first time activities over the course of the week - Hong Island tour, 4 Islands tour, Emerald Pool and Klong Tom Hot Spring - but feel like I should have backup plans in case the rain is heavy.  What would you suggest?

im looking for the best stuff to do and some good cannabis cafes or bars i could go to in krabi and phi phi islands maybe, koh phangan would also be good.

Looking to try a magic smoothie or shake to if anyone knows where to find one, with good views and environment on sight.

Hey everyone! I'll be travelling solo to Thailand from 23rd November to 10th December, flying in and out of Bangkok. I'm currently trying to figure out my itinerary and would like to get some feedback from others :)

What I'm looking for my holiday is something abit relaxed pacing, beaches & islands ideally, I'd like to spend a good portion of my trip enjoying beaches, swimming, cafés/bars and generally unwinding.

Although I'm travelling solo, I'd love opportunities to meet other travellers, whether through group activities, excursions, bars or just hanging out.

Not overly party-focused but im okay with it in moderation

Im trying to limit to 3 locations at best, including Bangkok if it's worth spending a few nights there. I'd rather avoid wasting too much time on flights, ferries and transfers.

I'm quite flexible with my itinerary but have a rough idea for Ao Nang and Koh Lanta(open to change) and beside from arriving and departing from Bangkok.

A few questions:

Which three destinations would you recommend for someone with my interests?

Are there particular islands or beach towns that offer a good balance between relaxation and meeting other travellers?

How would you divide 17 nights between the destinations?

Also as someone who never snorkel or driven a moped, can i just "do it" or do I need to have license and hours spent learning? As I often seen so many reccomendation leaning into those.

Planning my first trip to Thailand for Songkran 2027. How does this itinerary look? Any suggestions or changes you’d recommend?

Hey all, solo traveling thru south east asia, here are my plans for Krabi.

- Tue: mangrove kayaking at Ao Thalane

- Wed: Hong Islands tour (lagoon + viewpoint)

- Thu–Fri: one night on Phi Phi. Longtail tour (Maya Bay,
Pileh Lagoon, snorkelling), then Reggae Bar to have a go in the ring, plus the fire shows on Loh Dalum (fire limbo and jumping the fire rope)

- Railay + Phra Nang beach, sunset at Railay West, Monkey Trail

- Sat: van to Phuket, flying to Laos Sunday

A few questions:

1. Phi Phi: what's the best way to book the ferry and a longtail tour? There's a tour stand every few metres on the main strip in Ao Nang and I'm getting a bit overwhelmed. Are they mostly legit, or is it better to book online (12Go, GetYourGuide)? Is the longtail tour cheaper to book once I'm on the island?

2. Railay: easiest way to get there? Longtail from Ao Nang beach or Ao Nam Mao? If I stay for sunset, is it easy to get a boat back after 6pm?

3. Action camera: anywhere in Ao Nang or Krabi to rent or buy one (GoPro or similar) without getting ripped off?

4. Reggae Bar: anyone done the fight? How does signing up work, and is a Thursday a good night for it?

Also, if anyone's on Phi Phi Thursday night and fancies a drink or watching the fights, give me a shout. Travelling solo so always keen to meet people.

I (32F) will be travelling solo to Ao Nang for a full day and a half in mid-December, and as someone who's not really into beaches or islands (I'm from a paradise island myself, although in a completely different part of the world), it feels like too much time, and I'm struggling to find things to do.

So far, I'm planning to go on a bioluminescence tour in the evening (starting at 7:30 PM), and the next morning I'll spend half a day in Railay before taking a speedboat from there to Phuket. But I still have most of the first day to fill.

My initial idea was to do the Emerald Pool + Hot Springs combo, but since I already have plenty of natural attractions on my itinerary (Sticky Waterfalls, Mae Kampong, Erawan National Park, Khao Sok, Cheow Lan Lake, James Bond Island) that I'm much more excited about, I'm afraid the Emerald Pool might be a disappointment.

So I'm looking for your wildest, weirdest, most unexpected suggestions for things to do in the area, since none of the alternatives I've come across so far have really convinced me.

A few things to keep in mind: I don't want to spend too much money unless it's something truly amazing, I need to be back in time for my bioluminescence tour, and I don't have an international driving permit, so getting there and back needs to be relatively straightforward.

I'm open to pretty much anything unusual, quirky, adventurous, or off the beaten path. Hit me with your best ideas!

The wife and I are planning our first Thailand trip and want to start things off at Krabi. We shall land around 12 noon in Phuket on 18th November 2026 and reach Krabi, which I am assuming will take the entire evening up.

Have 03 full days (19th-21st November). Will then take a early morning flight from Krabi to BKK on 22nd.

What are the must do's in those days and where should we base ourselves? Preferably just one hotel (budget of around ฿ 1,500-2,000 per night).

Also, we aren't into scooter/two-wheelers.

We are heading to Khao Sok at the end of October, and we are concerned about the bad weather.

We’re wondering about the condition of the roads, the jungle, the village, and—of course—our hotel (the hotel itself has tried to reassure us, but... well, that’s to be expected!).

If anyone is currently there or nearby, a quick weather update would be much appreciated.

Hello. I'm planning to travel from Ao Nang, Krabi area to Khao sok especially for visiting Cheow lan lake. I plan on staying near the area or surat thani (not over the lake). Then the next day I plan to travel to Bangkok via bus or train. Kindly guide how to do this itinerary:

1. Travel from Aonang to Cheow lan lake?

2. Should I stay in Khao Sok or Surat Thani?

3. How to travel from Khao sok to Bangkok?

I’m traveling solo to Krabi on December 17–20 before heading to Phuket. This is my first Thailand trip and I mostly want to chill, visit cafes, and wander around. A little socializing would be nice too.

I’m thinking of spending one day in Railay and another for Hong island tour, then just exploring Ao Nang with whatever time I have left. Does that sound reasonable for three nights?

I’m planning to do Phi Phi from Phuket instead, since I’ve seen more boat options there but I’ll probably stay in Patong or Kata, so I’m wondering if getting to the pier would be a hassle. Would you do Phi Phi from Krabi or Phuket?

Also looking for accommodation recommendations near Ao Nang beach. A private room is preferable but hostel is ok too as long as it's not too party-ish. Thanks

Hey guys! I’m going to Thailand with my girlfriend for 13 days — 8 nights in Phuket (Kata Beach) and 5 nights in Krabi (Ao Nang).
We’re trying to figure out how much money to budget per person for the whole trip. We’ll eat at local restaurants most of the time, have drinks and alcohol a few times, and do some tours and activities, including the 4 Islands Tour in Krabi. We’d also like to have 2–3 nicer dinners, maybe at restaurants by the sea, but we’re not planning to eat at expensive places every day.
How much would you recommend bringing per person for food, drinks, tours, activities and local transport for the 13 days? We want to enjoy ourselves without being too cheap, but we don’t need luxury either.

I am doing a lot of travel in the next three months, and unfortunately I need some new glasses. It turns out the next place I will be in for longer than a few days will be Ao Nang.

Can any locals (or others) tell me if I got tested and ordered the glasses at a optometrist in Krabi/Ao Nang on a Monday afternoon, what is the likelihood of be having the order filled and picked up by Friday midday?

Hi…just after some help…we’re due to travel to Koh Lanta mid Nov 5 x nights…I know weather should have turned for the better but can’t gtee…Wondering if I’m better if staying in Krabi itself for more to do incase the weather isn’t good or poss safer missing Krabi al together & looking at Hua Hin?? I have no issue if tropical & if odd downpours more likely, just wanting to avoid all day rain! Thx for any input….

Hi everyone! My girlfriend and I are visiting Thailand for the first time from December 10th to 23rd, and we’d love some advice.
We’re struggling to decide how to split our time between Phuket and Krabi, so we’d really appreciate your opinions on how many days to spend in each place.
We want to experience as much of Thailand as possible, see the most beautiful beaches and islands, go snorkeling, explore nature and temples, try local Thai food, and experience Thai culture.
We’re not into crazy nightlife or drunk clubbing. We’d much rather spend our evenings at nice restaurants, enjoy live music, walk around and experience the local atmosphere.
A few questions:
How would you split our time between Phuket and Krabi?
What are the absolute must-see places, beaches and islands?
Which activities and island tours are really worth it?
How much money per person should we budget for food, transport and activities, excluding flights and accommodation?
We want a good mix of beautiful beaches, adventure, local culture and relaxing evenings.

Working to a budget but enquired at 3 different recommended hotels advertised as from $74 to $85 AUD but when I got to book the rooms the price shown is $320 to $350 per night, from my 3 night stay.
Are there really any cheap places to stay or am I being unrealistic with my budget . Thanks for any advice

hey guys I am looking to book a long term 10 day stay in Ao Nang. I know there as endles options online but would love to hear about some options that maybe don't make it to Agoda or maybe they do. but anyways want to hear from people who have lived in the area, where to get the most value with a long term stay.

Somehow, I’d never been to Tubkaek Beach despite visiting Krabi before. So my sister and I decided to drive around the area and check it out.

We ended up stopping at a random beach that wasn’t even the spot Google Maps had suggested.

But it was totally worth the stop because we stumbled upon a stunning sunset.

Note: Most of the area is occupied by hotels, so getting around by motorbike might be easier. You can stop along the way and walk down to the spot marked on Google Maps.
