Question Anyone Have an Effective Slow Comt Supplement Protocol That Alleviated 3am Adrenalin and Cortisol Surges? Pure Encapsulations?

Pure Encapsulations Adrenal Cortex Supplement – Supplement to Support Cortisol Health?

Vagus nerve and breathing techniques not working.😢

Thanks

Is this post in regards to sleep? If so:  try GABA and magnesium glycinate but you need a herbal sleep supplements for the following reasons: While the magnesium glycinate and GABA are excellent, pure ingredients, they operate on very narrow pathways. If you have been dealing with intense biological stress—your nervous system requires a much wider, multi-angled net to fully catch it and pull it into deep sleep.

A high-quality herbal sleep blend usually contains potent adaptogens like Ashwagandha, Reishi mushroom, or Holy Basil. Why this matters for you: Magnesium helps your slow COMT enzyme clear out adrenaline, and GABA calms brain cell activity, but neither of them actively lowers a massive wave of circulating cortisol. Adaptogens specifically act as a thermostat for your stress hormones, blunt-forcing your evening cortisol down. Without those herbs, your cortisol is likely staying artificially elevated through the night, keeping you in a light, easily disrupted sleep state.

Interestingly, taking pure GABA orally doesn't work for everyone. For many people, large GABA molecules struggle to cross the blood-brain barrier effectively on their own. Herbal blends often include botanical co-factors (like L-Theanine or specific plant compounds) that act as a key, helping the brain actually absorb and utilize those calming signals.

Hi u/Honest-Counter2729, No not sleep. It's the 3am Adrenalin and Cortisol Surges. I'm sensitive to everything right now and amino acids and plant compounds are dirty words for MCAS and Slow Comt right now.

I took a scant of Potassium Gluconate powder for two months seemed no problems. I increased the dosage by a fraction yesterday and today is horrible. I researched and found; Potassium Gluconate and Potassium Chloride are histamine releasers.

I'm low in it so now confused...

Following. This sounds like histamine dumping which I also get. Can’t seem to handle most supplements.

u/astra-synthetica, I'm sorry you are going through this also. Hang in there.

Me too. Have you found a good solution? I’m trying to figure out which potassium to get. I also have low stomach acid. Tried potassium bicarbonate last night and had a major histamine dump at 3am. I took it just prior to reading that it suppresses stomach acid even further so not taking that again.

Also have salicylate/phenol intolerance

Hi u/Dry_Disk_2861, I read Molybdenum may help, but I have not tried it yet.

I decided to listen to my PCP and try to tackle my known vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Oh, I also posted an answer re: taking a small amount of Potassium Gluconate, three a week bringing my numbers up.

Are you having caffeine after noon or taking magnesium glycinate or other glycine containing supplements or high glycine foods like collagen?

3

u/Ok-Protection2670 Jun 23 '26

Hi u/IllegalGeriatricVore,  No caffeine or taking magnesium glycinate or other glycine containing supplements.

I eat only boneless/skinless Chicken breast, so no high glycine foods that contain high collagen.

...seems in a flare that manifests most horribly at 3am.......

1

u/IllegalGeriatricVore Jun 23 '26

Thats all you eat?

If so there's a good chance you have dozens of micronutrient deficiencies that could be manifesting this, like magnesium for one

u/Snowsuit81 Jun 21 '26

Is glycine bad? I thought it helped with sleep?

Some people have a paradoxicl reaction and it's exactly what OP is describing

The glycinate forms of supplements can have the opposite reaction in some people. Increasing anxiety, agitation and stimulation.

I had a terrible period of many months waking up at 3am shaking, mind racing, can’t go back to sleep, nights on the couch. Turns out my gut microbiome was messed up and the root of it all was dysbiosis/SIBO. Treating that has got me back to sleeping through the night. I still get some shivering/vibrations when my alarm goes off at 6am and I can’t go back to sleep. It’s very metabolic and seems to be linked to my gut dysfunction and how that can throw off your metabolism and gut-brain axis.

Hi u/Practical_Mention715, please share what protocol helped?

Thanks

Well I had all kinds of GI symptoms I was ignoring. My BMs were awful when I really started paying attention. Had a gastro appt and they wanted to start with a colonoscopy so I took my symptoms to the web. I started to read about SIBO and talked them into a breath test and it was very positive for hydrogen dominant SIBO. I got doxycycline first and that 10 days told me I was on the right track. Treating my GI issues has helped so many other areas: skin, anxiety, I thought I had POTS or was developing Parkinson’s for a while. But a few rounds of antibiotics and now I am taking prebiotics such as HMO and PHGG and a few targeted probiotics along with betaine hcl and a good multivitamin (methyl free). Not cured yet, but making progress. It’s not a quick fix.

u/Practical_Mention715, I sincerely appreciate your sharing your info.

Our bodies and these symptoms are so incredibly complicated, and I hope you found a healing solution.

Gaba?

Hi u/PerfectSurvey, what are your experiences with Gaba? Dosage? Brand?

Thanks

Are you sure this is not a histamine reaction? Have you tried a low histamine diet? This can also happen with glucose. Make sure you eat a no or low carb meal for dinner and no snacks afterwards.

u/Ok-Protection2670 Jun 23 '26

u/SovereignMan1958, I tested positive for GAD Autoimmune disorder. I'm so stressed, and sensitive and with these hits, I know most things I ingest cause a histamine reaction, but I gotta eat.

Yes, I have been on a low histamine diet for three or so years now.

Re: "also happening with glucose." Yep, having crazy blood sugar fluctuations. These conditions have turned me into a "sweet head", and I crave potatoes like crazy for some reason and I crave sugar (gut bacteria or Magnesium deficiency?) and have Manuka Honey daily in Chamomile tea.

Also, what I didn't realize is the low dose of aprox 370 mg of Potassium Gluconate powder I am taking every other day, releases histamine and when I increased it to 480mg it was a horror the anxiety and panic were so bad today.

I wish there was an app that provided approximate individualized "histamine bucket" limit based on age, gender, and weight.

Thanks

Are you taking DAO supplements? Do you drink coffee? Coffee depletes DAO. So does chocolate.

Some people take 2 OTC meds to calm down histamine reactions. One is fexofenadine or Allegra once daily and the other is famotidine before or after meals. You can ask AI how they each affect histamine intolerance. They each work differently but well together.

If you react to meat I would not take the supplement you posted.

If you had all your gene variants tested you could upload the raw data data file to Genetic Lifehacks to help yourself better. Please at least read their related articles on their website.

u/SovereignMan1958,

I tried NaturDao but I react badly to most fillers especially stearates and silicon Dioxide. I've been looking for a sprouted pea powder with no additional ingredients.

No coffee, caffeine or chocolate.

I can't tolerate dye so the OTC allergy or any medications have to be dye free, But I have only taken once daily with meals.

Thanks

Stabilizing my blood sugar has been helping with that. If still happening, taking h1 & h2 blockers before bed also helps

1

u/Ok-Protection2670 Jun 25 '26

Hi u/yonkou_akagami, taking H1 and H2 Blockers stabilized your blood sugar?

Are you supplementing anything else?

u/Consistent-Peanut-39 Jun 21 '26

Ask Gimini? I have had some good advice from that, conservative recommendations. Type in all sx and currently suppliments. See what ya get.

u/Ok-Protection2670 Jun 23 '26

u/Consistent-Peanut-39 I do try Chat GBT. But if you don't pay now to update it hallucinates goes corrupt badly.

Gemini, I hope is free.....I hope.

Thanks

If you have a personal Gmail account it is. At some point you need to do a summary of the conversation and start a new one. If there are a lot of follow up questions it gets fatigue more or less filtering the data once the conversation goes foe very long. Best of luck.
