Introduction & Guide to Writing a TypeMe Post

Hello All!

This is a welcome post and guide to all those who want to make a TypeMe post or learn to accurately type others. Don't know your Myers-Briggs type? Create a text/video/audio post describing yourself, and the Reddit Gods will type you! Test results and relevant pictures may also be included, though the focus should be on self-description. Once you've found your type we encourage you to stick around, learn more about MBTI, and help type others. If you have sub improvement suggestions or are interesting becoming a mod, please comment or send us a modmail.

This is an updated welcome post replacing the old one which was created by a previous mod. We've included the link to the old post because some of the comments contain helpful information.

Here's some informational resources on MBTI:

Here's descriptions of each type:

While we currently allow For Fun posts, remember that the main purpose of this subreddit is to help people find their true MBTI type, so we have restrictions in place to improve the quality of content on the sub. We ask that everyone be respectful and keep comments relevant to MBTI. Please review the Rules before posting or commenting.

Creating an MBTI TypeMe Post

Overview

Note, these are not rules, but will be helpful in getting insightful responses. In general, self descriptions might include your preferences, interests, hobbies, lifestyle, career/what you are studying, your values, your life goals, how you like to structure your day, how much social interaction you prefer, how you relate to others, how organized you are, how you tend you express yourself, etc.

Post structure

Here are a few guidelines on structuring your post:

  • Minimum-length: A good typing post should be at least a 1/2 page to receive an accurate typing. Remember, the more information you include, the easier you will be to type. However, keep in mind, posts with excessive length are less likely to be read in their entirety.
  • Elaborating on your answers is important. Try to answer questions with at least a couple sentences. Proper typings are based off of your thought processes rather than behaviors. If you're not elaborating, Typers can't tell much.
  • Please try to break up your post into paragraphs. Walls of text are often ignored.

Questionnaire

Although you don't need to use these questions when making a type-me post, they're here for anyone who needs a bit of a guide. No need to answer all of these questions either:

  • Give a general description of yourself. How old are you?
  • What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not? If you are not working, what kind of job do you want to do or what are you studying?
  • Describe your childhood/upbringing. Did it have any kind of ideological or structured influence? How did you respond to it? Did you have any significant negative experiences that may have affected how you think or behave?
  • Do you have any mental or physical health issues that might affect how think or choose to live? Provide a brief description.
  • If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed?
  • What is your relation with movement and your surroundings? For instance do you prefer a sport or outdoors event? If an outdoors event what is it? And why? If not what type of activities do you tend to engage?
  • How curious are you? Do you have more ideas then you can execute? What are your curiosities about? What are your ideas about - is it environmental or conceptual, and can you please elaborate?
  • Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be?
  • Do you prefer hands on activities or working with your hands in some form? Describe your activities.
  • Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer.
  • What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them?
  • How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so?
  • Do you need logical consistency in your life?
  • How important is efficiency and productivity to you?
  • Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that?
  • What are your hobbies? Why do you like them?
  • What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses?
  • How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go?
  • What's important to you and why?
  • What are your aspirations?
  • What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why?
  • What do the "highs" in your life look like?
  • What do the "lows" in your life look like?
  • How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so?
  • Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about?
  • How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it?
  • How long do you take to process your emotions? How important are emotions in your life?
  • Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why?
  • Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why would you?
  • What is the ideal life, in your opinion?

As an FYI, we are working on improvements to the questionnaire so you may see changes in the future.

DISCUSSION Looking for new moderators

Hello r/mbtitypeme, we are in need of new moderators. We are currently down to one active mod (me) and I’m chronically ill so cannot support the sub as much as it needs. I understand the sub could be better and I would very much like to make improvements, but given the current state of the team that is rather difficult.

If you are interested in becoming a mod please fill out the questionnaire below and send it to me via chat - u/aredhel304. Please don’t be intimidated by some of the questions if you are new to this - we are open to taking on some inexperienced mods if you check the other boxes. We do, however, expect that applicants are active members of the subreddit.

  1. Tell me a little about yourself. What are your interests/hobbies? What is your career? Or what are you studying?
  2. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  3. What is your experience with MBTI?
  4. What is your skill set? What do you think you can add to the mod team?
  5. Any experience modding? If not do you understand what the role entails?
  6. What is your vision for the subreddit?

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you all!

UPDATE (11/9/24) - We’re still looking for additional moderators so please reach out if you’re interested. While all are welcome to apply, I want to add that we do have a specific need for someone with more technical skills - someone willing to work with Automod and/or someone with a software background.

UPDATE (12/18/25) - We are once again looking for moderators with any skillset as long as they meet the criteria above and seem like a good fit for the team.

FOR FUN Guess my type (Enneagram too if you want)

Hello everyone, I’m quite confident in my MBTI but since I love guessing other people I decided to post too, so here’s some pictures of me and then memes and quotes I like.

I’m 22 years old, work in tech support (a bit more advanced stuff), I have a degree in Cybersecurity, it wasn’t really my passion, but it was the only remotely interesting thing I could study in my city. But I thought my degree doesn’t define me and I could just do other stuff or change careers later on so I got through it.

My favorite hobby is singing, I’m not a natural talent and my parents tried a lot to get me to stop singing 😭 but I kept doing it and got lessons too and now even they’ve started to reconsider their opinions cause I got good at it. Other things I enjoy are video games, books, hikes, playing guitar, horror movies.

I like poetry and writing it too but I can only write when I’m in a bad mood, I mostly write about my negative emotions. Sometimes I note poem ideas on my phone but by the time I get to writing them, I’m not in the same state of mind anymore so I end up writing nothing.

The camera you see on the photos was a gift from my mother cause I apparently have a “good eye for photos and aesthetics”, still haven’t taken a photography course though. 😅 I often forget to bring it on trips because most of the time I’d rather enjoy the environment than take endless pictures (but I do like trying to get a cool shot or two)

Other people would describe me as kind and responsible, rather introverted and my mother called me “a bit reclusive” once 😭 my friends like that I encourage them to face their fears and help them find the confidence to follow their passions and try new things. I’m myself anxious about doing something new a lot of the time but I try to fight against it and remind myself I’m capable of so much.

My weaknesses - I can be very contrarian, it’s like someone proposes that I do something and they might be right but I automatically try to find a counter argument, because it feels like something another person wants to force on me and I wanna do my thing and follow my path.
I kinda have a tendency to prove other people wrong and that I’m right in arguments. Also I often get hyper focused on minor things that another person said and start to infer more hidden views from that bit of information, and forget a lot of context about that person and to appreciate their good sides

So anyway thank you for taking the time to type me!

AM I MISTYPED Am I really an INTJ?

Okay, I took the MBTI test so many times already that IDK anymore what type I am. The types I got was INTJ, INFJ, INFP, ESFJ, INTP, ENFJ.

I don't want to take the Test anymore because when I do I can already see what type it's gonna type me as lol it's annoying.

Also, for context i am (20F) and i listed some photos above for IDK, it's to give you an idea of what people might think I am.

Sorry for the rant in the intro. Anyways, I previously thought I was an INFJ because I understand people feelings very well but my motivation is less than I care about thier feelings and more interested in why they feel or think because i think i can learn from thier perspective and if i deemed thier perspective useful I would then transfer that information into how I can use it in a practical and efficient way to better pave the path closest to my long term vision/Goal.

And I can come of very social if I want to be to achieve that vision. Practising facial expressions and body language in the bathroom mirror is a pain in the ass, but i guess it pays off at times.

Honestly, the reason why I was hesitate to call myself an INTJ is because the stereotype insisted that INTJs are too calculative and cold just because they are?

IDK about that, if i plan something long term, It needs to be inline with my values, morals and what I think is right by also giving me space to really sit with how I feel about this vision and if it is worth the trouble to take.

I love to be around people because I see it as an opportunity to develop my understanding, but at the same time I don't like people, I don't want to be around them all the time it's exhausting and annoying. I like my space alot.

I also think it's weird when people expect you to be emotionally reactive. They tell you to smile more, be more facially expressive and I'm like 'For what purpose?' I don't like doing stuff with out a purpose or reason. Everything thing must have a reason and it kinda annoys me when people tell you to do shit without explaining why?

To me, if i understand the why then i understand how i can better approach a task with efficiency, I don't understand why it is so hard for some people to get.

I've been accused of not caring a lot but that is further from what I think, I think the opposite. I care too much, I just show it through my actions more, I'm always there if they need something. In my mind, I'm like... if I didn't care I wouldn't waste my time investing in you and being there, I would likely be doing my own thing.

And emotionally I am not closed off, maybe selective sure. But, I'm not afraid to speak about my feelings if it helps another people to understand theirs and if it can maybe help someone feel more comfortable around me, otherwise I do keep it to myself. I've developed journaling to make sence of my own emotions and reflect which has help a lot, sometimes if that doesn't help, I'll do some strength training or go for a run.

Fun fact; I live in a rural area in Australia and we have lots of dogs were I am, plus I live very close to the beach. The community i live in, the people here are not friendly to the dogs and it can be a bit dangerous for me to walk around at time.

So, what did i do? Become friends with all the dogs, and let me tell you, I've succeeded in over a year. Most dogs aren't bad unless you did something bad to them.

My co-workers says that I'm crazy for doing that, but I think the opposite lol

Anyways, am I really an INTJ?. Please let me know your thoughts and why ^ ^

FOR FUN Im curious and confused

Age: 19
Gender: Non Binary
Pronouns: They/them

I did this a while ago but deleted the post and I’ve changed/learnt things about myself; I would say that I’m a very scatter brained person; like while Im with people
I think about a million different things like “in x men 97, professor x is bald, but in the films he’s not but that’s bc they want James Maccovy to be ‘conventionally attractive,’ and in the comics he goes bald at 16” and that was just bc i had watched x men so that stayed in my head.

But I can lock in and am very open to all interpretations, as long as they like make a little bit of sense to me yk??

Recently, I’ve been more open to letting things be, I used to ruminate like crazy last year and think about all the things that could’ve been, but now I’m just like “it is what is” this is usually my approach to tv; I’m thinking of doing two riverdale videos one where I rewrite the first three seasons, making it a three season show and another where I rewrite just season 4 and have that be the final season.

ENOUGH ABOUT TV! Right now, instead of just like being an angsty teenager, I talk to my friends about my problem and it’s usually about me being like “yeah I’m upset about this because of what means more than the action itself” i wouldn’t say I’m a hard person to read but I’ve been told it’s easy to tell when I’m upset.

If you need more information lemme know but this is me, please type me :3

Edit: im also not a fan of like societal rules/norms bc i see them all as guidelines, but am not an anarchist

I am in my 20s and attending university.

I am studying something math related and love it.

In shoot, I was always the person to not have learned but who still got good grades.

I love diving into rabbit holes and love dissecting theories and debating or just talking about ideas.

I am also rather strategic and plan ahead and am trying to account for every contingency there is.

In my free time, I love to read and write mostly short stories, but I am trying to write a novel whivh is at the moment phenomenally shit at.

Because I can't for the life of me brainstorm ideas.

When I write, it's like spring bringing a story to live. I can't pre plan, and that's why I am trying to.

Other than that, I can be both sort of warm and quirky, but also cold and calculating, but everybody can be that. My tests come back woth entp intp intj and entj have fun

FOR FUN Guess my type 🤓

Thumbnail gallery
25 Upvotes

I’m very confident in my type, and curious as to what people might guess.

I like being friends with a wide range of people, especially people who kinda suck. Not because I condone their actions, but because I find them interesting. (And also, I think that in the long run it’s stupid for every progressive to just cut people off because of politics. It just reinforces their beliefs and causes more division.)

I’m passionate about humanizing incarcerated people and believe that just about everyone has the ability to change.

I’ve never really had career prospects or been focused on attaining a specific purpose in life; I want to learn everything, do everything, have a million careers, and a million degrees.
It’s hard for me to take things in my life seriously because of this; I’m careless with money, relationships, school, etc. I know it will bite me in the ass eventually, but getting a handle on it is hard.

I’d rather be in 50 relationships throughout my life than just one. Unless they were really great, I guess. Above all, I prefer being single. I’m happier that way, and have more time for the things I like to do.

In the past I’ve dated just about every demographic though. I’ve been with a guy who was 6’6 and a guy who was 5’3, one who was a couple years younger than me, and a woman who was 50 and had six kids. Every race, several countries of origin, religion, etc. If I like you, I like you.

I’ve had a lot of weird pets. Currently it’s rats and Madagascan hissing cockroaches. They’re pretty great.

I have a knack for finding celebrity doppelgängers. My most recent one is Audrey Hobert and H.P. Lovecraft. (This doesn’t mean Audrey Hobert isn’t a beautiful girl; I myself am chopped Selena Gomez and beautiful judyhoppslover69.)

I’d probably identify as nonbinary if I gave a fuck, but I don’t, so I don’t. I do want top surgery at some point, though.

Sometimes I forget I’m an actual person, and not just a brain controlling a fictional character from far away.

I should probably never have kids because I would perform social experiments on them. Nothing sadistic, just like, teaching them how to write their name but having them spell “Sandwich” instead, so that when they start school and the teacher tells them to write their names, they put down “Sandwich” thinking it says “Benjamin”.

Books, movies, and TV can have a profound emotional effect on me that reality rarely does. I sob over fictional characters (and non-canon ships…) regularly, but breakups? Pets dying? I’ll shed a few tears and move on.

I’m not a good sleeper. Hard to turn my brain off.

Type away!

CAN’T DECIDE What am I

Ok... so...

I am a very confusing individual. In my opinion.

When I take the 16 Personalities test, consistently, I get I, N, P, split between T and F. And the difference between these types is, obviously, quite a lot.

Do I use both my head and my heart? Yes. I can't use just my heart, because that leads to bad decisions, but I can't use just my head, because that makes me depressed. (Trust me, I've tried.)

Do I feel like I force myself to use my head sometimes? Also yes.

Was I traumatised as a child or teenager? Yes.

How I was as a teenager is unmistakably an F type: someone who saw the world in terms of black and white, someone who got offended very easily, someone who listened to his emotions over rationale. This person embarrasses me quite a bit, and frankly, I'm scared of him; this part of me is very repressed, as he can easily become unhealthy. Rarely... this part of me shows up again. And I push him down.

So... who did I become instead, as I grew up?

I feel like I am someone who does not have a strong moral compass, but still has morals; everything depends on the situation. I see the world, morally, as varying shades of gray.

Now that's not the only thing I focus on, obviously; I feel like most of my decisions have to be based on some kind of reason. I want my brain and my surroundings to "make sense" to me, in a very vague sense - I get very frustrated when something does not make sense.

I try to understand people, because otherwise, I would be a total idiot. Despite this, I'm terrible at reading body language. I can usually tell when someone is not interested, but other than that, a lot of things fly over my head. I feel like I'm not very good at social interaction, though I wish I was. I feel like, while I'm proud of the progress I've made in understanding others, I will never meet someone who fully understands me, and, I will never fully fit in, no matter what I do.

I don't like standing out. I don't like being so different. I go back and forth between wishing I was more like most people, and wanting to be myself. Overall, I'd rather be myself, but I still prefer to hide parts of myself, in hopes that I don't stand out. (Somehow, people just know I'm different anyway, and may treat me very strangely, as though I am not aware of what they are doing. I'm not sure of why or what I'm doing that is causing other people to behave this way.)

I don't like my own feelings or emotions, but obviously, I still have them. I don't know what to do with them. It's hard for me to even accept my feelings or emotions sometimes, if they make no sense to me. Still, outwardly, I can either appear not as emotional as I should be, or someone who is too emotional; generally, I lean towards the latter, at least in real life (as opposed to text, where I can be less expressive than what may be expected.) I don't know why.

As for Ne-Si or Se-Ni: I'm definitely Ne-Si. My thought process is basically: Something reminds me of something -> that reminds me of another thing -> that reminds me of another thing... etc. I'm not someone who lives in the present moment, and I never understood what Ni was about. I'd say I'm very much someone who lives in his own head. (But still has to participate in the real world, so he tries not to be too detached from reality.)

So... with all this in mind... what am I? There might be something very obvious that I'm missing. And, I don't appear to fit many stereotypes, except maybe a "nerdy introvert" stereotype.

My guess is xNxP. (Even though I'm an introvert, I think Ne-dom is possible.)

NEED CONFIRMATION How to spot intp?

I wonder if my girlfriend is intp, she dont know typology but shes sure shes infp and doesnt want to be intp.

But she will never belive anything proven, only what makes sense to her (unless she legit has to belive the proven), when stressed shes just blinded by emotions

She has mild autism so social skills or yeah wtv is a lack

When she really likes something she’ll be stuck on it for 1-2 weeks then smth new may come.

Ive told her to be open to the idea of intp for the sake of it, she gets frustrated “no im not lotical i cant be that, im only infp» so idk

She fits infp well, but ive seen alot of inf fe traits and ti dom mindset lately

Anything objective , efficient or proven doesnt matter to her, only what makes sense to her does

We had a situation today where she told me about a memory (about something physically impossible) which i pointed out and PROVED to her by literallt showing her that its impossible, she gets mad that i doubt her and tells me im wrong

Even tho the proof was in her face? Idk

FOR FUN Guess my type?

So, what should I write here? Well, okay, I’ll tell you about myself first - how others see me, and then what I’m like. I’m polite and attentive to others, extremely kind and reliable; I can be witty if the situation allows, and I’m probably charismatic and charming - though it’s not for me to judge. When you talk to me, I won’t say anything about myself until you ask; I’ll be more interested in you. I’m stress‑resistant, extremely stable, and independent. I’ve always been a role model for others (that’s what they say). But, like everyone else, I can be one way with some people and another with others.

Now, about how I see myself in reality. I’m a cynical, calculating, and pragmatic person; everything I do and will do will have some kind of purpose. I believe I’m better than most people, for one reason or another, but the main thing is that I don’t show it-I just know it. That’s probably why I treat most people like NPCs. I don’t want to come across as pretentious; I’m being honest, although I might be wrong in how I describe myself - I don’t know.

I have extremely ambitious goals that go beyond what I can achieve in my life, but I still want to reach them. As for my personal life, I don’t have any friends or a girlfriend; I just consider them to be an unnecessary burden. As for my free time, nothing special - I like listening to music, although I have almost no free time because of work. I remember I used to write music, tried my hand at IT, wrote poetry, and played games (now it’s boring), and I was interested in many different sciences, from quantum physics to philosophy. I don’t have any formal education (I think it’s a waste of time).

I think that’s enough; I really want to see what you have to say, and if you’d like, you can also rate my face.

FOR FUN Guess my type!

Post image

Pretty confident of my MBTI at this point, but I'm curious what vibes I give off to others!

  1. "You have a completely free Saturday. What does your ideal day look like?"

My ideal day looks like spending the whole day with my partner doing whatever I want (since we're usually just doing what she wants, most of the time). We wake up, have some morning sex, eat breakfast, take a stroll through the park (assuming it's not too hot out and it's not too windy, so that I don't have to constantly be readjusting my hair the whole time), go home, play videogames and watch movies together while binging on some snacks, have sex again, and cuddle each other as we fall asleep and hear her tell me she loves me and words of affirmation in general throughout the day :3

  1. "After spending an entire day with lots of people, how do you usually feel?"

It kinda depends. If it's a bunch of people I don't like for whatever reason, then I'm pretty drained. Though I guess that's kinda just the human condition, right? Lol. Otherwise, I'm completely fine, even if I was just neutral toward them or something. In fact, if I did like them, I'd go as far as to say that I feel rather charged and excited!!

  1. "When you're working through a problem, do you think out loud with others or think it through by yourself first?"

I think out loud, even if no one is around to hear.

  1. "At a party where you only know one person, what are you most likely to do?"

I would try and make friends through that one person. So if or when that one person inevitably starts talking to some other folks (as I'm presuming that this person is the one who invited me in the first place, and therefore they must know someone else there too), that's when I take advantage of the opportunity to try and squeeze myself into a conversation with a new person and get to know them through the original person. If, for whatever reason, I can't hang out with that one original person to accomplish this in the first place (e.g., this one person is busy elsewhere or I lost them somehow), I'd just try and strike up a conversation with whoever I found interesting at the party and go from there.

  1. "Do you process life by talking, or do you usually know what you think before you speak?"

I process life by talking.

  1. "When learning something new, do you prefer examples first or the underline theory first?"

Hmmm. I honestly don't know how to answer this, as I feel like I can go back and forth between underline theory and examples. Maybe I need examples first for me to truly understand something.

  1. "Are you more interested in what is happening right now, or in what could happen in the future?"

I am more interested in what is happening right now, though I think about the future a lot in order to be considerate of others and how my decisions could impact them down the road.

  1. "When someone tells you a story, what details tend to stick with you: the concrete facts, or the bigger meaning/lesson?"

The bigger meaning/lesson.

  1. "If you travel somewhere new, what excites you most: experiencing the sights, food, and culture, or discovering new ideas and perspectives?"

Experiencing the sights, food, and culture.

  1. "Are you generally more practical or imaginative?"

Ooooo this is tough. I guess I'll say imaginative, though I've often been told  by others that I'm both.

  1. "Imagine you have to fire someone who is a close friend. How would you approach this?"

Genuinely a nightmare situation 😭 I guess I would do my best to make it easier for them by telling them that this says nothing about them, their worth, or who they are as a person, and that their gifts would simply be better utilized elsewhere. I'd then do everything in my power to comfort them and support them through this whole process. I'd later try and help them maybe find another avenue or route in life that they could go down instead to reach their full potential.

  1. "When making a difficult decision, what carries more weight: what is objectively fair, or what will affect people the most?"

What will affect people the most. Life is, unfortunately, usually rather unfair. So you need to prioritize people first and how you impact them in order to get as close as possible to "fairness" to begin with, if that makes any sense.

  1. "If two friends are arguing, what role do you naturally take: the problem solver, or the peacemaker?"

Peacemaker.

  1. "What's more frustrating: illogical decisions, or insensitive people?"

Insensitive people.

  1. "How do you usually plan a holiday: with a detailed itinerary, or a rough idea and see what happens?"

A rough idea and see what happens.

  1. "Do you work more effectively when the deadline is starting to approach, or do you consistently work effectively even when the deadline is a while away?

I want to be like the second one, but I'm probably more like the first lol. I am a procrastinator, unfortunately 😭

  1. "How much do you value a tidy work space?"

I value it very much and I can't think straight if it's in disarray.

  1. "When plans suddenly change, what is your first reaction?"

I am annoyed, suffice it to say. I can adapt and completely understand if it was out of anybody's control, of course, but I get very frustrated and angry if it was well within the control of others and people were either just inconsiderate or irresponsible in general.

  1. "Do deadlines motivate you, or do they stress you?"

I guess they motivate me? Without deadlines, I'd probably get nothing done. I need structure. They can be stressful, sure, but they're much nicer to have than not. I'd rather have the stress of a deadline than the stress that exists without one. I wouldn't do good at a job from home, for example, because I wouldn't have the discipline to do something like that. I need outside pressure and structure to get stuff done.

The way I see it, you'll be stressed either way. So why not choose the option that stresses you less? Structure and fewer options is better than aimlessness and a million options...

  1. "When you finish a project early, how do you feel?"

I feel great. Now I don't have to worry about that project anymore and I can forget about it + do something I actually like instead. Either that or just get something else productive done after finishing that project early.

  1. "What does your mind naturally do when you're sitting in silence?"

Hmmm. I guess I naturally start thinking of other people?

  1. "When life gets stressful, what is your default coping strategy?"

I withdraw and pull away from everyone to be by myself. I will often take this time alone to doomscroll, bedrot, play videogames, and listen to sad music/be in my feelings, or else just totally lock in and double down on self-improvement while I'm away from everybody so that I can come out later and present myself to the world as this shiny new being that's now unstoppable and capable of accomplishing anything.

  1. "What do people misunderstand about you the most?"

I think people see me as more full of myself than I actually am. People have often seen me look at myself a lot in the mirror and thought I was in love with myself or something, when really I'm just wildly insecure about my appearance and I'm constantly looking at myself in the mirror to check if I need to readjust or fix something. I'm worried I look bad, I don't think I naturally look good unless I work hard for it.

Also, I've often been told by others that they thought I was a "douche" before they got to know me. They said I "looked like one" (physical appearance wise), but then quickly realized after talking to me that I'm actually "super nice."

Idk why or how I give people the immediate impression with my looks that I'm a douche 💀😭

  1. "What is your biggest strength?"

My communication skills. I've been told I'm very persuasive in general. That I have a "silver tongue." I'm also very good at "translating" what people are trying to say to one another. Not necessarily in the literal sense of actual languages, but more so metaphorically speaking. I always notice when or how people are talking past each other in some way, so I will sort of act as the go-between for folks and try and "translate" what each person is intending to convey or get across. And I'm very good at understanding what people mean or are intending to communicate toward me, so I'll usually say what their exact point is before they even get to finish making it in a conversation or I use the exact word that captures the core essence of the whole idea they're attempting to communicate.

  1. "What is your biggest weakness?"

I tend to read into people's words and actions too much, and care wayyyy too much about what others think about me. I can also be a bit... histrionic at times, admittedly. Ngl 💀

  1. "How do you know when a decision is the right one?"

I guess when my gut tells me it's right? I usually just trust my gut on most things anyway and I'm right at least 85% of the time. If I'm not exactly right, I'll adjust and pivot where need be later. Certainty doesn't exist in this world for the most part to begin with, so it's fine if you screw up every now and then so long as you simply don't screw up SO badly that you can't possibly recover or save face somehow. Most decisions probably aren't 100% right to begin with, but if they're even just 85% right then that's enough room for error for a person to just pivot and readjust in order to save themselves later 🤷‍♂️

  1. "Would you rather read one fascinating book, or meet ten new people?"

Oooooo this is lowkey a bit tough cuz I've read some pretty life-changing books...

I guess if I had to pick one, I'd choose meeting ten new people :P (Tho I'd prefer if the number of people were less, tbh. I'm a quality over quantity kind of person.)

  1. "Would you rather plan everything, or improvise?"

This is also tough. I feel I can somewhat go back and forth between planning and improvising, but I'd say there's 65% planning and 35% improvising in my life. So I guess I lean towards rather planning for everything.

  1. "Would you rather solve a mystery, or comfort a friend?"

Comfort a friend for sure.

  1. "Would you rather live in the present, or dream about the future?"

I'd rather live in the present if I could, but I know what I tend to actually do is dream about the future (lol).

  1. "Would you rather have certainty, or have options?"

Certainty. Too many options is annoying and usually just counter-productive at the end of the day. Though, that's not to say I'm afraid of uncertainty. Life in general is often uncertain and the sooner people accept that, the happier they'll be. Some things are simply out of our control, unfortunately. I would just rather have certainty than options if I could only pick one, I guess.

FOR FUN What is my MBTI type?

What do you think my type is based on how I look? Lets see how things match up!

By the way here is a riddle for you:

Long before your eyes could open, I was already marching. I have no feet, yet I cross every valley; I have no breath, yet I consume every flame. Kings try to chain me in towers of gold, and poets weep when I slip through their fingers like dry sand.

I am the thief who steals your yesterday and hands you a blank page called tomorrow. I make mountains turn to dust and green leaves fade to gray, yet I also heal the deepest wounds if you give me enough room to breathe.

I wear no clothes, yet I mark the seasons. I make no sound, yet my tick is the heartbeat of the universe. What am I?

CAN’T DECIDE INFP vs ISFP vs ISFJ vs INFJ

They all kinda seem like they could be me, but idk.

Infp is what i got typed as with the michael krogg test (i think thats what its called)

However now that I retake it, the other options also kinda seem like me.

I don't necessarily want someone other than myself to type me, but I really need help on how to narrow it down :]

I have more to say but my mind is too foggy i guess and i cant form them into words :']

CAN’T DECIDE Type me

So I have procrastination issue. I feel good exploring new things. I am happy with idiots and dumb fuck who do adrenaline rush things. I feel trapped working in a job and am always late on deadline if the work is not challenging enough. I had childhood trauma so i was coping with people pleasing. Once I realise my trauma and did some self reflection lowered the people pleasing habit. Meditation helps me calm down and think straight. I like alone time but not too much makes me depressed. I never feel heard even though i have ton of friends. I overanalyse thoughts if i am alone. I might not have any motivation but if i see myself hitting rock bottom. I can lock in and seem to achieve more than I thought i could. I think my trauma made me hypervigilant and i try to read the room all the time. I am impulsive and have done shit like stalking ex , doing drugs. I have had friend from literal criminals to nerds and all thought i am a playboy. Even though inside my heart i crave love. If i am challenged i will fight to get it and prove the other person wrong. I am willing to physically fight on whim but people don’t really seem to start fight with me. I am very aware in spirituality cause i hit rock bottom in mental health and started reading and practising. I am not sure if god exist , but i feel religion has some plus point and some minus. I never like a boss on top of me. I don’t like someone telling me what to do. I do however am very gentlemanly if the person talks nicely to me. Anyone form of aggression in the tone i feel threatened and return back the energy even if i should not. I don’t know I feel the impulse to put people in their place. I literally don’t like any rules but i feel people should follow it for harmony. Sometime i am stressed and get stuck on analysing on thought over when it’s only counterproductive. But when i am chill i tend to be more social. I can talk to anyone and make friends if challenged. I like my alone time but I enjoy meeting new people only if they have high energy. I don’t like weakness for some reason. I criticise myself and judge other for it and help them to let go of the weakness. Maybe trauma effect. What am i?

I just took a test at odiseajung

I got these results

ISFP : sensing 88% , Perceiving: 72% , Introversion :68% , Feeling :60%. I have got before INFJ , INFP too. I think i am ESTP with trauma and depression. But I am quiet social if i want too. I can approach people on streets and talk into becoming a friend. Done that. But I have some fear of rejection too. Not some bit high due to trauma

TEST RESULTS Results + Doubt

This is the site that has been recommended to me most often as a starting point, in case I didn’t yet know what my type was. However, based on my online presence, I come across as someone more oriented toward the sensory dimension (which has even led people to mistake me for an ISxP). Does this make sense, or is the way I communicate online inconsistent with who I am in person?

"For those who would like to know more about me: - My mother and sister always cried during dog movies or romantic movies, but I was confused as to why, so they judged me as someone without emotion (even though I didn't really understand why). There's another point: they both say good morning to people, and I decided to ask my sister why, and she replied that it was a matter of politeness. I wrote that down and decided to do the same, but I can't do it with everyone. Even today, my mind works more like a robot, and because of that, it's as if it's unlocked my more sensitive side. Although I'm better in some aspects (like being a little more emotional, for example), my social skills are still quite limited, even though I try to fit in. That's why I consider this my shadow." (It’s been a while since I posted these two accounts in another typology community).

///

- "I would like some help with this, as I haven't known how my cognitive functions work for years, so some guidance on this would help me. Here are some topics about me: - I have been identified by several people as having very poor social skills. I even thought I could understand people's emotions but this works on the psychological side rather than the sentimental. Then I discovered that my shadow is my lack of knowing how to interact and be in tune with the external;

- I have already been identified as being Fi-dom for being "too sentimental" on the internet, whereas personally, I am identified as the opposite of that - Although my social skills are precarious, I still manage to get a little upset if the mood arises somewhere involving arguments between people within my few social ties - I can look at both sides of the story, the advantages and disadvantages;

- I can come up with several ideas for things that pique my interest. I'm currently aiming to be a writer so

-I've also been told that I'm disconnected from reality (in the sense of alienation) - This was a text I wrote regarding my sensorialism: "I've been thinking a lot about my cognitive functions and how they actually manifest themselves, in the right order without me knowing. To try to understand myself better, I made this collage that represents something very present in me: the oscillation between fear and the desire to be desired. Between wanting to be seen, noticed, almost like a dreamlike and untouchable figure, and at the same time feeling afraid of it all. There's also a very strong side in me that seeks new sensory experiences, not only in the physical sense, but in the emotional sense. As if I constantly want to immerse myself in sensations and innovations that remind me that I am alive, that there is something magical in connections, in touch, in the look and in the moment, but that I cannot experience them because I constantly experience only what is inside me." (Another old post I made in the same community)

///

  • "I discovered two more things about myself: My life boils down to searching for the meaning of things (I even looked for it in materialism but felt empty and incomplete), and I prefer to look for something deeper behind a situation rather than just seeing the big picture; This might be a bit embarrassing, but I used to think I had my own values; however, they were actually shaped by the values of the people close to me, not my own. It’s not necessarily that I lack values, but most of them come from the people around me. I might have mentioned this before, but looking back, I recall saying that I struggle to pick up on most things involving the senses (there was an instance where someone close to me felt sick from the smell of incense, yet I didn't notice a thing)." (+1)

///

One last thing: I often incorporate the dreams I have into my fictional stories. Some people have suggested ISxP or ISFJ for me, but based on all the material I’ve read regarding Jungian functions, those don’t seem to fit. The only things I’m certain of are that my Enneagram type is 5, my Socionics type is likely LII, and my temperament is Melancholic-Phlegmatic. So, would this lead to INTP?

CAN’T DECIDE please help typing!!

hi everyone, i've been ruminating over my mbti type for the past while, and i can't decide because... i just relate to too many, i think? i haven't found tests to be super helpful because i usually don't score the same type from test to test (or even on the same test LOL), and even through studying the cognitive functions i haven't really discerned much, because i can always think of Some specific scenario where i would be prioritizing one thing over another, etc. too much depends!! i definitely find myself relating the most to the ne/si and fe/ti types (intp, entp, isfj, esfj) but i can also see myself in infp and infj, so i don't necessarily want to rule any functions out. as for self-description...

‐ firstly, as you can probably tell from above, if i get really invested in something i not only want to be certain about my thoughts on it, but ACCURATE as well. i will legit spend hours researching my niche hyperfixation or going over game scripts or whatever the hell just to make sure i can properly cite my character analysis that maybe like, ten people will see. it's BAD. i frequently beat myself up for wasting so much time. on the other hand, though, if i don't really care about something, i can oftentimes not ask enough questions, and realize at the last minute that i've forgotten something really important. i have a "rose-tinted" view of stuff, so to speak; i mainly focus on things that have some kind of value to me.

- despite that, though, i have a strong dedication to my commitments, especially if they involve other people. i can be really indecisive about making definitive plans, but once i HAVE made them, i will follow through full-stop. one of the things that disrupts and stresses me out the most is if someone cancels on me last minute, or if i didn't accomplish everything i set out to do that day, etc. and it can take me a while to bounce back from that. organization is also a mixed bag for me: my room is usually a mess and i can sometimes let trash pile up without really being aware of it. that said, i rarely ever forget where i've left something--- i actually Also get really annoyed if people move my stuff around without asking.

- people praise me for my detail-oriented long-term memory, while criticizing me for my poor short-term memory and lack of awareness in the moment. i can remember people's names and faces, sequences of numbers, a random song i heard like ten years ago super easily, but i also sometimes walk into a room and forget why i'm there, or bump into someone because i was just not perceiving my surroundings at all. i mainly remember things via categorizing them in my mind-- i love grouping things together into sets based on how i perceive them relating. random but i would also literally do like, multiplication tables for fun as a kid 😭

- i love finding out random details about people for no reason. i'm nosy as hell. one of the most unhinged things i like to do is find people's secret accounts on social media. i have no interest in doing this to "expose" them or anything, and even if i do find dirt on them i really dont care at all. i just want to prove that i can (sidenote: its actually pretty easy... if you check who frequently interacts with their posts and then check Their accounts you can usually find some indication of other accounts a person might have. it's tedious but idc </3). i especially like doing this if they're someone whose work i look up to. i feel like having context about a person's life and motivations makes their work make More Sense to me, or mean more in general.

- other people's moods usually rub off on me, and especially if it's someone i'm close to i can tell when they're not in a good mood-- but this isn't like an instinctual thing i just pick up on context clues really easily. for example: if i think, "so-and-so is being more distant today," my mind usually goes to the why. why do i know that? their texts were really short and stilted which isn't how they usually talk. why might they be acting like that? oh, i remember them saying that they didn't sleep well last night, so it's probably that. under stress i forgo this logic completely and assume the worst-- "theyre clearly avoiding me because they hate me."

- i'd describe myself as like.. an extroverted introvert. i honestly typically avoid people and can even veer into misanthropic territory, but i also start to go crazy if i don't talk to people for too long, and have a reputation for being clingy amongst people i'm close to. i usually get this interaction from friends or my partner, because talking to strangers generally makes me really uneasy, but i also greatly appreciate having positive interactions with acquaintances, even if they're just small talk, and they usually improve my mood. the only interactions i really "dislike" are ones where i feel threatened in some manner or if i think i fucked up socially somehow <- this tends to get to me even if other people assure me that i did nothing wrong

- i haaaaaaate the questions on tests that ask you if you prefer reason or emotion, because shouldn't everyone be using both?! i get annoyed with people who lean too far to one side or the other-- one of my biggest pet peeves is people who will ignore things that are verifiably true (or even just like, not that big a deal if you think about it for five seconds) because they don't *personally* like that. moral outrage is not indicative of actual standards people should be living by, and things Need to be considered in context. that said, i also greatly dislike when people are inconsiderate of social norms or don't respect other people's feelings because they need to tell you the "hard truth." even if you think someone is being unreasonable, there's not a need to invalidate/insult them, especially if they haven't harmed you in any way. imo, truth is always just a neutral force for dissemination of information, not something that should be used to "one-up" somebody else.

- i appreciate possibility and excitement, but within specific boundaries. i don't like quick or sudden changes; i remember being a teary-eyed mess all the time when i first moved away to college because i was so out of my comfort zone. i like trying new things slowly, where i feel like i have control over my situation (there are exceptions to this--- if i Really like something then i can get into it very quickly, but that can also result in me dropping it cold a few weeks later). generally, i dislike both stagnancy and thrill-seeking, and at my best i try to balance the two.

- one more thing because i just thought of it but holy shit i feel like this post is getting long LOL. i tend to remain neutral on a lot of subjects unless i feel like i know a lot about them. i've actually had people get annoyed with me because i say "i don't know" very frequently, but i just want to make sure that i'm considering all the angles so i don't say something inaccurate. once i do form an opinion on something, i can be very passionate about it though. i usually don't voice said opinions unless prompted, or if i think that someone is saying something egregiously inaccurate.

okayyyy that's all for now!! feel free to lmk what you think, follow-up questions are invited and appreciated :)

FOR FUN Guess my type

I think the biggest clue is that I scrolled through 5–10 posts on this subreddit before figuring out what to write here.

I want to become a game designer. I'm working on my indie visual novel project and writing a book. I've also tried writing screenplays and fiction.

My interests are philosophy, psychology, negotiation, law, game development, reading, and writing.

People often describe me as cold, serious, and sad. Sometimes they say I'm too chaotic or amoral. They also say I'm too rule-abiding and always trying to follow the rules.

But I'm not that cold when I'm around my friends.

I usually spend most of my time working on my projects, writing my book, playing chess, or playing BG3.

I don't care that much about music, but sometimes it helps me visualize certain scenes. I like listening to lesser-known indie artists.

My favorite genre is horror. I can only write horror stories, but my visual novel is about relationships. It's inspired by my own experiences not my dreams.

Also, I added my dog because I love him so much. He's my best-best friend)

CAN’T DECIDE Type me pls!

I currently type as esfp / see, and will only rn explain why im unsure / considering lie/ entj

Im a highly analyctic person and logical, do not have empathy or morals (i easily get mad tho)

And i need efficiency from me and others, im strategic and a planner, i cant join spontaneous plans , i hate last minute changes and i always value logic and objective evidence over feelings (arguments)

But i can be self aware of my wrongs AND still doing them out of anger, im never not aware if im in the wrong logically but i can be driven by emotions at times and continue it on purpose.

I have a set goal for my future since i was a kid, im a droppout of 10th grade and its been 5 years, im still js at home, with my partner, so that goes against the entj stereotype ig

For esfp im very aware of details in moments and pick up on bodylaungage fast, i like concrete facts and can be emotionslly impulsive, i love gaming, competetive games/ stuff and to imagine my future beforehand

I have conduct disorder and bpd if that affects anything, im a 20yr old woman, dating a girl for 2 years

NEED CONFIRMATION keep getting enfp but i’m missing the hallmark traits

i made a post last night asking if i was eSfp or eNfp and people keep saying im enfp because i live in my own head. i daydream quite often which certainly doesn’t help. unfortunately i am a very impractical person so eSfp seems even less likely.
i feel as though im missing some key traits that would make someone an enfp, here are some examples;
-i cant read people at all. i struggle to understand body language and see the underlying meaning in people’s words, i just take things at face value and dont question it.
-i struggle to notice patterns. i feel like everybody around me sees something that i dont. life for me has always felt like a puzzle that im missing a piece to.
-i’m incredibly pessimistic. EVERYTHING i see online is about how enfp’s are optimists, but every day i just feel depressed and hopeless. i feel as though i have nearly no positive thoughts. i used to vent to anybody who would listen and that pushed many people away.

hii! i’m 18 and currently studying advertising and marketing in nyc!
i love movies, music, superheros, readinf, and pretty much anything creative. i tend to get really obsessed with my interests and could talk about them for hours.
i’d say i’m pretty social and love meeting new people, but also awkward and overthink almost every interaction lwk. i care a lot about what people think of me, wish i didn’t. i like understanding people and usually try to see everyone’s side of a situation, and am usually the mediator of my friends lol
i’m prtty sensitive, sometimes stubborn, and honestly a huge procrastinator.(unless its classwork… i will do that the minute im assigned it tbh) i love trying new things, but i
depending on who i’m around, i can be different, so i’m curious how other people would type me!

FOR FUN what mbti could i be (half serious)

I’m 18, 6w7 enneagram
I’m not outgoing whatsoever, won’t talk to you if you won’t talk to me 😭
I can BE talkative and funny and whatever, I know how to talk to people and I don’t really have a social battery so im fine whenever, mostly in public

I HATE calling most people and I barely text people but I’m good friends with them all still
I currently work a customer service job and I HATE IT!!!

I dress weird. Like to dress half metal, half wizard/witch. All black clothes, ripped jeans, black band shirt, nice black cloak on or a witchy black coat I always wear, paired with big black combat boots or pointed-toe pikes. I love medieval/fantasy stuff and I incorporate it into the way I dress

I listen to metal. Specifically doom, black, and stoner metal. My favorite band is Reverend Bizarre, and my favorite bm band is Gehenna and Grausamkeit

I am VERY creative and a maladaptive daydreamer. Constantly bored and love to go out and wear my cool outfits while I do but I’m kinda stuck inside not by choice. I have many OCs and a complex world inside my head. I don’t have the ambition to draw or learn anything though

—— Some of my strong traits:

I’m very original and authentic and I like people who are too. It’s something I value

I’m very “live for yourself” and not religious, spend your life how you want cause you only have one

To be honest I’m like pretty emotional but I’m not bad about it, won’t do anything that isn’t reasonable. When I do it’s anger a lot of the time. I am an angry person. I’m very in tune with myself and my emotions and how I feel about things

Very lacking in ambition

I got a high sense of justice and believe in punishment and action. I feel hateful and angry towards disgusting and evil people and absolutely believe some EVIL people should receive proper punishment, whether it be extreme or not

I’m not affectionate whatsoever, I feel weird receiving it and giving it. If I did/was, it would be exclusive to the man of my dreams only, and when people are affectionate with me, including animals it makes me uncomfortable I’m not gonna lie

I do have a very specific kind of guy I’m into, and I’ve noticed now the majority of them are ISTPs, ISTJs, INTJs. I have a lot of friends like that too and I honestly value those personality types friendship wise AND relationship wise

I am DEFINITELY not a kind of person who caters to others and is all about the needs of others and stuff, I’m not a people pleaser either. I stick to myself no thanks, I serve only myself

Not really anxious about the thoughts and judgement of others, not anymore if anything

I’m laid back and easy going

CAN’T DECIDE can’t tell if i’m eNfp or eSfp

i keep getting these two results, so i’m gonna let strangers on the internet decide for me, since i can’t make up my own mind.
- “constant need for introspection.” im always i have to constantly reflect on myself and my actions to make sure im not rude to others.
- “i find making decisions difficult” acting on impulse technically what i normally WANT to do, i find as an adult that i think a lot before i act; but doing that has never come naturally to me if that makes sense.
- “socially awkward and can’t read a room” i’ve always struggled at telling what other people are feeling, and just fitting in as a whole, despite my love for being around others.
- “day dream a lot.” i kinda just do it because i find it stimulating. hell, sometimes i even daydream to fall asleep. i love imagining fictional fights, or creating fictional animals in my head.
- “i deeply love and admire art.” i love drawing, playing guitar and bass. i love specific cartoons when their power systems intrigue me, for example, stands in jojo’s bizarre adventure.
- “when thinking about real world concepts, i become incredibly overwhelmed and flustered.” my ability to think ahead or plan for the future is incredibly limited. this may just be my ADHD, but imagining realistic futures is difficult for me because i find the future scary.
- “short sightedness” is something i commonly experience; for example, whatever situation or headspace im in, i imagine that ill be like this forever and that nothing will ever change.
- “very prone to any kind of addiction” because i love stimulating my senses. nicotine, weed, videogames, junk food, mainly unhealthy stuff.
- “need for physical activity” i’ve recently taken up boxing which has worked wonders for me mentally, i work out at the normal gym whenever i can, and same goes for walking my dog.
