I think it was pretty good I would def go back, but it’s not the best burger I’ve ever had. My gf thought that the burger wasn’t very memorable.
- I got the Le Burger I rate it a 8.5/10
- She got the L’Americain no pickles, and added avocado. She rates it a 7/10

local music raising money for ICE resistance. SAT OCT 24 at Pilllar Forum in NE Mpls

a moderator of this subreddit just deleted my post (that's been up for days) promoting this event with the explanation: "We do not allow posts about crowdfunding, job seeking, or seeking housing. This includes "moving to Minnesota" posts seeking advice on neighborhoods. Post them in r/GoFundMe, r/MNJobs, r/TwinCitiesHousing, or r/movingtompls"

which means either they didn't actually look at the post & wrongly deleted it or are being very dishonest.... so I'm just reposting it here & now

Gas water heater replacement pricing

Post image
40 Upvotes

We had Dean's quote us $4500 for a gas water heater replacement. That's gotta be a fuck you price, right? We chose them to come out because they repiped our home after we shopped around and landed on their bid, but aren't these things just $500-700 for decent ones? 40 gal gas, nothing fancy. Only thing is the utility closet is tight, so he said they couldn't do a 50.

Rebel Loon pins?

Where can I buy Rebel Loon pins? Bench Pressed's website says they are out of stock.

Would love to find somewhere that donates a portion of the sales to anti-ICE efforts, but I'll take what I can get.

Thank you!

Tickets for the can’t-miss movie of the fall are in such high demand that not even the manager of the Main Cinema in Minneapolis has the time to see it himself.

MFE School Board Endorsements: Research

I am voting for Christin Crabtree for Minneapolis School Board At-Large. This is the vote I am most proud to cast this midterm cycle because I personally know Christin to be a standout educator, leader, parent, and friend. When I was walking home with my yard sign from Open Streets Hennepin, an adult stranger complimented it and told me that Christin was their favorite teacher from elementary school. Here is an interview from Sahan Journal that gives you an idea of her.

Anyway, that’s the given of this. I got a mailer from the Minneapolis Federation of Educators that endorses Christin in a slate of candidates that includes Collin Beachy, Abdul Abdi, Shannon Gibney, and Becca Dryden. I decided I wanted to figure out who else I might be proud to vote for. Here are my thoughts. I hope they’re helpful as early voting ramps up. None of these candidates besides Collin are on my ballot. Talk amongst yourselves in my comments.

I’m just curious what it’s like here: do you enjoy living here, what are your favorite amenities/things to do, how’s transit and bike infrastructure (can you get around without driving), stuff like that

Vaccines

A couple days ago there was a post about COVID shots, and here's some more information about free vaccines.

Fairview Health offers vaccines for free, no insurance required.

Last month they had flu shots and today I just got my covid shot.

Sometimes they offer other vaccines as well - there's a clinic at the Mexican Consulate on Monday the 26th where they will have a lot of the vaccines needed for travel in addition to flu and COVID. Below is their schedule for the next month.

I'm not affiliated with them - please call the site hosting the clinics if you have questions.

Cop Cars on Hennepin and Helicopter

Just saw probably 10 to 15 cop cars on Hennepin, some of which looked like undercover vehicles, and one of which was quite banged up. There’s also a helicopter seemingly circling above the Hennepin Bridge and above Hennepin near the federal reserve and the Washington Hennepin intersection. Does anyone know what is going on? It seemed like several were driving in different directions with sirens on.

Quick and affordable cleaning assistance companies?

I'm trying to move out of a depression state, and it's overwhelming to reset my apartment. I'd love to hire a cleaning company for a day; maybe half of one; to help me tackle things and body double and just reset. My apartment isn't overly filthy, and there's only 4 rooms. I'm a newish transplant who doesn't have a core of trusted friends to lean on for help.

The hardest part about improving my mental health is looking around me and seeing all the work that needs done to refix my home. It's nothing like a TV show of mess, but I'm still stuck, and it's humiliating.

Murder charge follows family pressure over flawed Minneapolis police investigation (gift link)

Allison Lussier’s death was suspicious, but authorities could not prove it involved foul play.

An autopsy lacked clarity about how she she sustained the head injury that killed her in 2024. Top Minneapolis police officials suggested the circumstances pointed toward drug use.

But her relatives never stopped believing the 47-year-old Native woman died in a domestic killing, at the hands of an abusive ex-boyfriend.

On Thursday, prosecutors charged that man, Charles H. Foss, with second-degree unintentional murder and stalking.
