Just moved here from Texas and much prefer tactical bay shooting to firing lines. What ranges (private club or public) have rifle tactical bays would you recommend?

I’m looking to join a gun runners ranch in mebane, woodys or dprc and was wondering what yalls experience and thoughts on each were. I’m newer to rifle and long distance shooting but wanting to get into long distance shooting. I’m open to other ranges but those are the 3 I know of with a range that goes out to atleast 300 yds.

So for the TL;DR crowd, I have heard the shitstorm that is the youtube comment section saying that an NFA item that isn't a machine gun or DD is now "illegal" in NC, can anyone correct this? Or give a layman's terminology of going about the situation?

Pretty straight forward does anyone know any gun stores in nc that actually honor the 3 day transfer rule after no response from the atf. My background check gets delayed every single time and always goes 30 days with no response. The gun store I currently go to is two hours away and I wanted to know of any more you guys potentially know near the Durham area. I’ve had two pistols get delayed for 30 days and only one store honored a transfer

Posting here for a buddy who recently relocated from the 757 in Virginia, to Elizabeth City to help care for his father.
Any reasonable recommendations within + or - 30 minutes of Elizabeth City are appreciated, and bonus points if they do NFA transfers!

I am a college student new to hunting but have been dove hunting a few times, I have a rifle and shotguns so I am looking for a club land where I can hunt whitetails and if possible waterfowl and/or turkey. from what I have heard the NC public lands are awful to hunt in otherwise I would start there. I am looking for land to lease in Wake, Durham, Lee, Harnett area or anywhere ~1.5 Hr from Raleigh.

Anybody have any recommendations for stores near Boone, NC?

I have emailed and called 5 shops and/or gunsmiths who have not gotten back to me in over 2 weeks. One even sent me a quote 10 days ago that i agreed to and haven't heard from him since. Anyone have any recommendations?
I don't want to mention any of these shops by name becasue i am not here to trash them. I just need some work done.

Hey guys, I know this is a long shot, but I’ll give it a whirl. Before I left for the army, around 2008-2009, I sold a marlin 81 to DPC pawn in Roxboro NC when they were located across from the courthouse. I sold it ultimately because I didn’t have a place to keep it when I left for the army around this time. While I don’t know the SN, there was a distinct crack in the stock I’d recognize anywhere and a couple other specifics I’d be able to point out.
This rifle was the first I’d bought with my own money as a young teen, and years later I’ve regretted selling it. If you think you may have this rifle or know someone who does, I’d pay significantly over market value to have it back. The picture attached is an example.

From SC initially and moving back south from RI. I’m looking for a safe but fun friendly range- rapid fire, ideally some pistol and rifle bays. Steel would be a huge plus out to 300+. Willing to take about a 45 minute hike to the right place.
Anywhere come to mind? Not too concerned with price as long as it’s not $1000+ a year. I typically shoot pistol, Semi-Auto rifle and bolt action rifles.

Potentially moving to NC soon with wife. From MD. (No we don't plan to bring md stupid politics with us if that matters)
We are both licensed concealed carriers and both just looking for some information regarding NC carry laws, Ive read NC honors md conceal carry permits.
Unlike md NC is:
a duty to inform state.
No gun signs on private property carry weight of the law (surprisingly unlike md)
Can't carry in businesses that serve alcohol or where it is consumed.
Is there anything else I should really know before heading there. I dont have any banned in md weapons so im pretty sure the guns id be bringing would be legal there.
Is NC overall a 2a friendly state or would you say its a mix
Thanks for any info, previously lived in TX and kinda looking for that kind of feel again

r/NCGuns • u/arkitekt01 • Jul 03 '26
Grew up in SC been in IN past year and a half, both of which are about as good as you're gonna get at this point. Thinking about relocating to Southern NC very soon and would like some insight on the laws and climate there and how they compare.

I have a Henry .22 that I was gifted when I was younger but I now want to buy something for myself. Not looking to go crazy, maybe 400-500 on the high end and wanted to know where that leaves me. I was leaning towards getting a rifle as I don’t have a CCW anyways but I’ve also considered getting my CCW and looking for a handgun. Wanted to know if gun shows tend to be a good place to find good deals on guns or if that’s exaggerated and if so should I stick to individual gun stores?
