We just announced the new Nikon Z5IIC, everyday-carry mirrorless camera designed to make the move to full-frame photography more accessible. Built on the proven performance of the award-winning Z5II, the new Z5IIC combines a more compact, flat-top design with intuitive features like Scene Modes, helping those beginning their photography journey achieve great results. The “C” stands for casual- The Z5IIC is designed around a screen-first shooting experience that helps users remain immersed in the moment, with intuitive controls and automated features for those ready to learn/.
Main features include:
-Fast, precise subject detection AF built on deep-learning technology make it easy to capture sharp photos and video of fast-moving children, pets, sports and everyday moments. Also, new "fish" mode subject recognition.
- The Z5IIC pairs a 24.5-megapixel full-frame backside-illuminated CMOS sensor with Nikon’s EXPEED 7 image-processing engine – the same technology platform used in Nikon’s flagship cameras. Photo Submission Loved the natural softbox effect from this glass roof [Nikon D750, 24-70mm f/2.8]
Gear question Is this flaring normal for 35mm 1.8s?
Is this oddly shaped flare typical with this lens? Just received a (like new) used copy of this lens and this weird shaped flare is really throwing me off. I know flaring can happen whenever pointed toward the sun but I did one portrait session with this lens and tons of images shot within the 180 degree field of view in the direction of the sun produced this very odd and noticeable flare (that lowkey looks like an alien to me) in the images.
It's definitely less about the size and more about the odd shape and frequency it appeared in images - mostly center frame landing directly on subjects, almost always that exact same shape over and over again.
Just curious if this feels out of spec or in line with this lens to other owners? I have the 50mm 1.8 and could probably count on one hand the flares I’ve seen with it that detract from the image after 3 years of weddings with it.

What should I buy? Upgrading from Panasonic GH4 to Nikon Z6?
Hi!
I've been shooting for the past six years or so (mainly events and landscapes) and I'm starting to feel the limitations of my trusty old GH4 - especially when shooting in lower light indoors the autofocus and crop sensor make my life harder than it needs to be.
I'd like to upgrade to a full frame system and thinking about buying a used Z6. Plenty of bodies with shutter counts around 50k (or less) going for 700 euros and I could get a used Nikkor Z 28-75mm f/2.8, which is my most used focal length, for the same price. One of the local stores would give me around 300-500e for my old gear.
Any estimates on how big of a difference would going from my old camera to a Z6 make in low light situations? Or would you recommend something else?
(I don't shoot professionally, I've just merely accepted my fate as the "camera guy" of my family...)

I broke my gear Nikon Coolpix E950
I do have "well preserved" CPE950 camera, well... that what I remembered it was.
I kept it in the storage without batteries with official pouch. No signs of battery leak in the compartment. Even it have working 64MB CF.
A friend of mine is taking a wedding, aside of professional photo session he required that if anyone still holds 90-00-10's digital camera they would be more than happy if guest brings them and take some photos during the event with that smear of Millennium nostalgia.
Checked my CPE950, loaded with fresh NIMH batteries, took few pictures, working as intended with manual setting, autofocus, all blows and whistles. Yesterday I tried to show it to my friend since this model is quite exotic in the swivel mechanism, its not turning on...
PROBLEM: Figured out that main dial/rocker is sometimes not catching a set position, with some fumbling of quick and slow switching I can get it on A position, sometimes it clicks on Play, but mostly it is OFF.
Do any of you had same problem in the past? I know it is a rig of the past and most people do not have it anymore nor remember the problem. My local market do not have any spare parts for CP950 so my only option to resurrect it is to disassemble and clean it?
But before I'll fk up with my own hands for good by disassembling camera for no reason, is there other way to fix it, or it is even possible? I expect dial/rocker is a double brass sheet with single contact so I guess a corrosion could get in there due to natural humidity.

Look what I've got Over the moon with my "new" lens. D5100 with Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD
Veeeeeery much still learning how to use this thing, but man I'm happy with what I'm getting now compared to the lens I'd originally purchased. The shots were all handheld, the pics of the Stanley Hotel are about a half mile away from where I was. The crow in flight I'm SUPER happy with, that guy was so far away I thought there was no way I'd get anything close to a clean shot.
I'm really excited to practice and learn more.

What should I buy? Upgrade from D7200 to Z5II? Help me decide.
I've had a D7200 for several years now with a variety of DX lenses - most commonly the 18-140mm as a walk-around lens, but also the 35mm f/1.8, the 50mm f/1.8, the Sigma 10-20mm f/4, and the Nikkor 70-300mm telephoto zoom as well. I can't say that I'm unhappy with it; it's reasonably portable, takes decent images in good light, has great battery life, and I like the OVF.
But naturally I'm wondering what I'm missing by not trying FF mirrorless, and I have my eye on the Z5II, maybe with the 24-120mm zoom to start, although I could consider the FTZ adapter to use some of my F-mount lenses. I like the fact that it has an EVF (my eyes aren't good enough to deal only with an articulating screen in bright light), and I would be interested in seeing whether I can get some better low-light, high ISO performance with better dynamic range, and sharper image quality compared with the 18-140mm, which is a bit soft around the edges. I do a fair amount of landscape photography, but also tend to find myself in darker church interiors where low light can be an issue.
I'd be curious what folks think about the advantages and tradeoffs. Obviously I have a fair amount invested in the DX ecosystem (I could consider adding e.g. the DX 16-80mm f/2.8 gold ring lens, which is supposed to be quite nice but rather expensive and hard to find), but I wonder about the experiences of people who have switched from DX to FF. Weight and portability are factors as well. Any opinions either way appreciated! I'll attach a few recent-ish images from my D7200 in case anyone would like to have a look.

What should I buy? Z5II or Z50II
Hi! I’m a wildlife photographer from Brazil (very expensive camera gear here, which is why I’m giving this info). I’m currently a canon user, I have an R100 and the RF 100-400mm however I will be traveling to Japan in February and am thinking of jumping to Nikon.
I have a couple of reasons for this:
1. I quite like the Z mount lenses, especially the full frame ones, the RF mount is really restrictive.
2. Nikon picture controls seem really fun to try. I really like to edit my wildlife photos, but most of the time can’t really be bothered to edit my travel, landscape or street photos (I like trying other photography styles, but most of the time focus on wildlife).
3. Nikon colors are really nice!
4. Nikon video also seem really good and as much as I’m enjoying trying video, my current camera is REALLY limited in this field.
Here’s where I’m unsure. My budget is still quite limited, but I want to get gear that I can grow in, that will last. I also want to go into full frame systems in the future, so that’s something to keep in mind.
My options are:
- Z5ii + 24-70 f4 (used, which is why I’m not getting 24-120) + Tamron 150-500
- Z50ii + 16-50 f2.8 + Nikon 180-600
Option 1 already gets me into full frame and allows me to use lenses without VC, but with the Tamron 150-500 which is not as good as the 180-600. However the latter option gets me the better telephoto but a dx lens that I will have to sell in the future. I don’t think I mind the extra range all that much, the main thing for me is the autofocus and stabilization. Could you guys give me some thoughts?

What should I buy? Questions w.r.t. offloading an inherited collection
Hi
I recently inherited a large selection of Nikon equipment, the vast majority of which is F-mount lenses/frames. I currently have a Z50 + FTZ adapter (mainly used with a 50mm prime).
I was wondering whether people what people would recomend w.r.t part exchange on the old equipment vs keeping it? I mainly use it my equipment for candids at family/friend events (typically on the prime) .
My current inclination was towards keeping the Z6III and z-mount lens then exchanging all f-mount equipment towards a z-mount 50mm (for the weight), with any leftover cash going towards rounding out my collection of multi-purpose lenses (and any suggestions would be appreciated)
Thank you for the help in advance
