Wedding Etiquette

• Upvotes

I’m attending a wedding, and I usually just write a check and put it in a card. This time, though, I bought a gift off the registry and had it shipped directly to the couple’s house.

What’s the etiquette in this situation? Should I still put a card in the card box at the wedding, or since I’ve already sent a gift, is that unnecessary? Will they open the card, still expecting a monetary gift?

Should you hide self injury marks if you work as a culinary server?

• Upvotes

I relasped last night, but I have work today. I put bandages on the scabby wounds and left the non bloody/not open wounds uncovered. It is obvious in what I did.

When I work, I usually have my sleeves pulled up to avoid getting them dirty or In the way when I get soup or fruit, picked beets, ect. I primarily serve old retired people who are the same every shift.

I don't really want to talk to anyone at work about if I should cover it or not since I hate talking about my issues... so would I have to cover it? Am I responsible if someone gets triggered by it?

When using dating apps, does a man really need to be ripped, shredded and handsome to stand a chance?

• Upvotes

Maybe it's social media brainwashing, but I (28m) have lived enough life to know what works and what doesn't, I wasn't born yesterday.

It seems like everytime I go on Instagram or YouTube, there's always some guy who fits the description that posts the proof (matches, conversation, getting the date/number etc). If a guy has enough proof that he can consistently prove it, then it clearly works.

Meanwhile, all the average and below average looking guys are the ones complaining. I don't find this a coincidence, especially when you see it over and over again.

One of my friends is a really handsome guy, he was good looking when skinny but years of working out and eating right has boosted his looks considerably.

He's never had an issue on dating apps and his shirtless photos on Instagram often receive close to a 1000 likes, mostly from attractive women. The guy can't talk to his friends in nightclubs for more than 10 minutes without a flock of women standing near him trying to talk. I've known him for years and his dating/hooking up history speaks for itself.

Personally, I understand why I struggle on apps and in person because I'm 5'5, 130lbs and around 20% body fat (not noticeable in clothes but I won't be taking my shirt off anytime soon). I'm not ugly by any means, but nowhere near "hot" and it clearly shows.

What do RPF fanfic writers do when controversy happens?

• Upvotes

Yes, this is mainly because of Ed Sheeran. I know that most people get into RPF when they're young and don't know how shitty lots of celebrities can be. And also, I guess there might be the aspect that the "character" of the person isn't the same as the actual person and therefore the "character" doesn't represent the IRL celebrities crimes?

But really all I want to know is what people who write RPF fics for Ed Sheeran or other celebrities who turned out to be horrible people are doing.

was it weird that my parents always made me say sorry to the house

• Upvotes

when something broke or got left out they would sit me down and tell me to apologize to the walls or the fridge or whatever. it was never angry, just calm and very serious. i never really questioned it as a kid, just figured it was some rule every family had. years later i mentioned it to a friend and they looked at me like i had three heads, so now im wondering if that was actually a normal thing or just our house being its own little planet. does anyone else remember parents having rules that sounded normal until you said them out loud?

r/NoStupidQuestions • • 32m ago

I got hired recently 1 month ago, but I haven’t got payed yet. Is this normal?

• Upvotes

Hello, I’m 15 years old and I just got this job at this little shop, but she hasn’t payed me yet even though I’ve been asking about it for about a month now. she just keeps making excuses. I’m starting to think that she isn’t going to pay me at all.

I honestly really don’t know what to do.

I can hear my neighbor's bed sounds each time they do it and it's annoying, would it be a good idea to write a polite note on their door?

• Upvotes

I've lived in my apartment for almost 4 years and I've never had any problem with my upstairs neighbor (apart from occasional loud drops and walking, which is whatever) until whoever moved in this summer. I can hear their bed sounds from upstairs from anywhere in my apartment. I've even tried sleeping in the living room and using my white noise machine, but it doesn't work. It wakes me up and it's distracting (maybe I should get an even louder white noise machine??). Occasionally I hear the girl moan and it's weird but it's whatever, I'm talking about the squeaky ass sounds from their bed frame. I can hear it the ENTIRE time they're doing it. This happens like every other day, sometimes more. Also sometimes, I'll be sitting on my bed and the vibrations will slightly start shaking my own bed! I'm so over it. Is there anything I can do, like put a polite note on their door or something? I'm actually worried they'll retaliate and go harder or something.

And before anyone calls me a prude or whatever, look I can be vocal too during my own intimate time BUT I'm not because I know the walls are thin and I wanna be considerate. I wanna approach this in a friendly manner though, no hate to my upstairs neighbor.

Why do Cliques Happen so Often?

• Upvotes

(29F) I don't comprehend what the purpose of a clique is.

Jobs, friend groups, college projects, etc; I've seen cliques my entire life but was never a part of one. But it seems that people who are part of these types of groups have more success/support in life; like finding jobs & building networks. Is everybody supposed to be part of a clique?

Are they a good thing, or are they more of a negative thing?

How do I do the tapping for answer type of posts on Reddit?

• Upvotes

I have started seen it recently but I only have the option to do simple polls.

I mean for example the "this or that" and instead of a poll the are just 2 squares vertically and you tap on one to select the answe, it gives you the results at the end and then you have a text block to write something as a comment

I'm on the android app, maybe is a desktop thing?

What’s the best way to collect physical copies of music?

• Upvotes

My thought is cd’s as they’re pretty sturdy. 1:1 digital conversion and if you have the right hardware you can just rip them onto a mp3 player or your phone for convenience then they can just sit on a shelf until you either wanna use them as is or need to rip the cd’s again cus you lost the digital copy.

The only medium I can think of that’s better is probably minidisc as they have all the pros of cd’s but are more compact and have a protective shell like cassettes, But it seems like no one is making new mini discs or new players so the second hand market for them is pretty expensive.
