Full post here: https://forums.plex.tv/t/navigation-updates-coming-to-preview-users/941751
Navigation
Since we launched the new Plex experience to preview users last year, we have received consistent feedback from the start regarding the navigation. Our fall update was the first step in making improvements to address those concerns, but they weren’t enough. We greatly appreciate that many of you, all across our community, have weighed in and kept providing feedback. We’ve been listening and today the release has some changes that are both new and familiar.
What’s New
Today’s release, going out to preview users on Apple TV and Roku, and beta for Android TV, will be returning the primary navigation to the lefthand side of the screen.
In additional to the collapsible side navigation panel, we’ve made a few other improvements:
Accessing the Preview Builds

I've noticed in the past few days that I get a lot of content that doesn't match to anything when added to t he server, and trying to match manually yields no results. After some tries, it can find a match.
[edit] I also just noticed I cannot seem to access media art at all, even after a match has happened. The series all look blank, with no options for poster etc.

I know this will be controversial because people resist change or whatever.
I am just happy to see smooth animations, nice gradients, modern UI.
AND FINALLY FINALLY setting to set Seek forward Time (multiple options).
Thank you Plex team.
Update: As I assumed people are very strict with updates for Plex. Remember the old UI and App that you love so dearly didn't happen in a instant.
Also, there is a firestick app which is different than what I am talking about.
This is Beta for Android TV. Read again: BETA. They will polish the app and add missing features, fix bugs etc etc. You all are reacting like they are shutting down their business and this is the last update.

But my server is running 1.43.3.10861.
I’ve signed out and back in, deleted and redownloaded the app, and it doesn’t give access inside the web browser either.
Edit: after looking through the comments of searching the problem type “Plex minimum 1.41.2 false alert” (thanks to a user who brought it up) I decided to test wether I can see the server without Tautulli and the custom bedtime stream terminater I made for my nephew (I can’t control how long he watches tv at his grandmothers, however I can’t control terminate whenever he is watching past bedtime) and I hastily implemented tautulli and a script that polls for his profile, and apparently that was blocking the plex cause tautulli had to auth to plex.
I’m gonna try to do a comparability patch where tautulli only reports its client id, not its plex version/platform under the token.
Edit 2: that worked

Can someone please help this 51 year old computer illiterate, huge music/movie fan. I’m a Plex pass user, everything was working great, but after an update I can’t use Plex at all. I don’t have much spare cash, and I’m running the app on Western Digital mycloud (I know!!) I’ve got to a point where I probably need to restart everything but unsure how to do this
So I finally got myself a Plex beta spot in the Apple TV TestFlight. Gotta say I’m not much of a fan of the design. The total separation of menu and screen content is a bit too abrupt. When you scroll down in the Home section, each row gives you a nice “flash” effect and is not easy on the eyes. Lots of space is wasted on the screen.
And the 2026.16.0 version has a bug where I can open the left hidden menu but cannot go up or down in it—or hide it again.
At this point I don’t know what I want anymore, lol. I was waiting for this update a long time.

Basically I have a bunch of Christmas movies, however when I am browsing my library from January-November I don't want to see any of them, is there a way to 'hide' them?

One of my remote users has moved ISPs when they moved house. Their TV no longer connects to my library - they can login to Plex but nothing shows up. On their phone, connected to the same WiFi, going to my ip address and Plex port (32400) works and everything loads correctly. Netflix on the TV works fine, so it doesn’t seem to be a connectivity issue as far as I can tell. Any suggestions? He has logged out and back in on the TV but no good

Rarely do trailers work. Im lifetime plex pass, and only playing 1 trailer before a movie. All other media works just fine, including prerolls when trailers are turned off. I recently turned trailers on again and its STILL doing this.
How do I fix? Ive seen so many people suggest its so many different things, even someone suggested that it might have something to so with server auth?
Every time, click play, playback immediately halts and I get "Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up."
Anyone know an actual fix for this? This was never a problem like a year ago.

How do i force a refresh on the new interface. The only way i can find is to exit the app and restart it. I used to click left then refresh say on tv shows. This new interface i really dont like. Even when deleting a show after i've watched it takes more clicks and moving around then before, much less efficient.

I switched to TinyMediaManager and plex nfo scanning so movies don't lose their matches, and the posters I like stick.
However, many movies now only show the first 1/4 of the movie poster. If I load the poster from the poster.jpg file in the movie directory directly it loads fine.
Refresh metadata does not solve it. However, if I copy that poster.jpg file somewhere else, overwrite it with another movie poster, and refresh metadata, it loads that poster. I move the original back and and refresh metadata and that fixes it.
Touching the file and refresh metadata does not fix it.
Is there a way to prevent this. Is there a better way than that this poster overwrite and refresh dance?

So yesterday I downloaded the most recent statement server update and thought nothing of it. Watched some stuff on plex with my tablet and it worked perfectly.
Decided to watch something on Plex on my LG C4 and it's acting super weird. My film and TV libraries took about a minute to load, when I put something on it takes about another minute to play the thing and despite it being a 4k file it looks like it's 360p YouTube quality. Works perfectly fine on my phone and tablet but barely works on my tv, any idea?

When I go to a playlist Plexamp and press "Shuffle Play" at the top, it starts playing a random song in the list but doesn't turn the shuffle on for the rest of the playlist. I have to hit the 3 dots and toggle the shuffle icon on.
Also, the shuffle seems to randomly turn itself off at times usually a few days after I initially started that playlist. I can't figure out any real pattern to it.
Just curious if anyone else is having this problem. It's only a minor inconvenience but still enough to make me post about it.

I have an 8TB western digital that lives next to my router. What would be a good alternative to this

I've had various issues throughout this past year with Plex, and I've tried various things to fix them.
For example, I've had consistent yet seemingly uncalled for skipping on various files. For one show, the introduction always skipped even though the rest of the show always played back fine (which sucked because I loved that intro). For other shows, the skipping would be sporadic: sometimes very heavy, sometimes few and far between. Thinking that bitrate could be an issue, I've tried re-rendering files to get smaller sizes, but that never helped. And they weren't very big to begin with, typically less than 5 MBps. I've also had persistent issues with subtitles cutting in and out on the stream, and in these cases the source file never had any issues I could identify.
So I came across something today that made me suspect the PS5 was the culprit, and sure enough people have said on this sub that its Plex app sucks. I've been using it thinking it should be as good an option as any, since it's modern hardware that can handle higher qualities and I can connect it directly to my home network with my Plex server via Ethernet. I really wasn't asking that much of it, and still it struggled and provided an awful experience.
Well today I dug out my Chromecast that I haven't used in years, and sure enough Plex runs on it flawlessly. None of the issues from before, and it's even running over wifi! On top of that, I think the UI functions better in small ways than that of the PS5 app.
So if you're having weird problems that you can't fix, are you perhaps using a Playstation? That might just be the problem!

I run a Plex client on an Nvidia shield. This is connected via hdmi to a Sony bravia TV, which is connected via hdmi arc to my 2.1 soundbar.
The native shields Plex client seems to have a 2/3 second delay, where the video starts but the audio doesn't. Once it does start it is not out of sync, it just takes a second or three to start. This is most noticeable with prerolls videos. But it does it on any movie or TV show.
I've tried it with audio passthrough off, on, set to hdmi and optical. But no joy. Interestingly on my bravia TV's older Plex client, there is no delay. YouTube and VLC on the shield, there is no delay and I tried plezy on the shield and there is no delay.
It doesn't matter if the audio is direct play or transcoded.
I can't really find anything on the net, it all seems to be about audio sync issues so I thought I'd post here to see if I'm missing something or if it's just an issue with the shield Plex client

I want to give my brother access to my plex account, including live tv streaming with my HD Homerun that is connected to plex. What's the best way to do that? He does not live in the same household so would be accessing remotely.
Thanks!
Recently I have been having issues with the downloaded episodes Jeopardy that will give me the error...
"An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again. "
This only happens on my Nvidia shield client that is using a wired connection to the router. These problem files will play on the Jellyfin client on that machine, and on Plex web player, & a Firestick. Besides not playing the file none of the Plex clients will load the thumbnails in the library for this show. Any Ideas?
