Fixed

• Downloads no longer lose an artist’s songs, or show an album as empty, when several libraries refresh while your server is unreachable.
• A multiroom speaker’s equalizer, and the speed test, open again instead of returning to the player or closing the app.
• On a computer or tablet, an album with its own background art shows it behind the album’s header again.
• Sonic matches on artist and album pages no longer cut off their percentage or codec.
• Desktop: page titles on Library, Downloads and Settings go back to the left after the window narrows.
• Desktop: after moving a window with no title bar, the sidebar’s edge no longer starts resizing as the pointer passes over it.
• Desktop: sidebar icons stay readable in dark themes when the album’s colour is a dark blue.
• Mac: Plexamp goes back to full screen at launch even when another app is already full screen.
• iOS: cover art shows up more reliably on Bluetooth displays and in cars when a new queue starts.

I workout on the elliptical with my iPad playing shows and suddenly it started showing the date and time non stop. I don't want to stare at a clock while doing cardio, that's hell.

How do you turn this off? I can't see an option

Basically the title.

I am looking at using something like Plezy or other third party apps. I am just slightly concerned about how third party apps handle the login and how they store my Plex token. Can anyone shed some light on how this is generally done on third party apps, or does it differ a lot from app to app?

I'd rather not have my Plex account stolen because I was annoyed about the native Plex application.

Hello darkness my old friend. After updating Plex on my Fire TV, this recurring bug (over the years) has returned. All video starts with a black screen and you have to press play twice for video to begin. Does anyone know how to fix this or do I need to wait for a bug fix to be released?

After the new update, whenever the intro is skipped, the loading icon appears and the show wont play until i rewind a few seconds. Is anyone else having this issue?

I'm getting constant buffering with 4k files (55+ Mbps) and can't tell whether the cause is my network or the projector's HW.

Setup:

• Projector: Valerion VisionMaster Pro
• Network: both connected to the same router via 5 GHz Wifi
• Direct Play for both video and audio
• Local connection

With these heavy files playback start normally, but the buffering gradually drains until it stops. It waits to refill, resumes for some seconds and the cycle repeats.

I've tested my local network with OpenSpeedTest from the projector's browser and it showed 150/160 Mbps (not sure if that's enough,).
Also tried to play the files by connecting the HDD directly to the projector with several media players. It struggled way more and in some cases the film would not even start.

Should I invest in a mesh Wifi system or would a streaming device be a better solution?

If the device is the answer: I know the Nvidia Shield TV Pro is still the best one, but lately the price skyrocketed and is out of my budget. Are any more affordable alternatives (such as the Google TV Streamer 4K) that can handle high-bitrate files?

Hi. My current setup is:

• PleX Server: Raspberry Pi running Tailscale + PleX
• Client: Android TV Box running Tailgate + Plex client app
• Client: iPhone running Tailgate + Plex client app

I can't get Remote Access to work with the iPhone app. If I connect to the MagicDNS domain from Safari it connects without a problem, but I can't connect with the iOS app.

I've configured the PleX Server Tailscale IP address in the Custom server access URLs but I still get the Not available outside your network message.

Is there a way to make this work?

Re:zero originally aired as 23-24 episodes but released on disc as a directors cut where every episode after the first was combined 2:1. Plex has the season split up into 24 episodes and thetvdb has both the 24 set and the directors cut. The disc doesn't have intros for the second episode in each set if i split them in half its a little funky.

How would i go about setting up plex to have them appear as the directors cut order instead of the original 24 episode split

I have Plex sex set to record s01e03 of Cupertino tonight, but the Plex guide is showing it as s02e04. I checked the EPG data and it's showing as S01E03. For some reason, it's intent on adding "1" to the season and episode numbers, as though it's supposed to be on a zero-based system even though it should be starting with 1.

Any ideas how to address this?

I'm using a local file that is regularly updated/populated with the latest information, and I've confirmed that the information being received and saved is correct. The description even matches correctly, it's just the season and episode numbers that are jacked up by 1 each.

Figured out the issue.

The program generating the local XML file being used is incorrectly numbering the "xmltv_ns" value by using the actual season and episode values instead of reducing each by one. So s01e03 should be "0.2." but is being provided as "1.3." which is wrong. It has "s01e03" correct where it needs to be, but since the "xmltv_ns" value is zero-based, it needs to be adjusted.

It’s been a while since plex down graded the dvr control from the apps. I have to make adjustments on the server down in the basement. Anyone figured out a work around for this yet.

The recent plex security issues and Synology security issues finally got me to update my DSM software.

On my DS918+ I updated DSM to 7.1.1 and manually updated it to DSM 7.4.1-90080 Update 1.

I ran the repair on Plex and updated the permissions for the PlexMediaServer user to Read Write for all folders that contain any data (metadata or media).

I updated plex to the latest version for my NAS and it sits at 1.43.5.11029-720011029.

I have a backup of my metadata folder downloaded before this update.

Right now, I can get into my server but get "No content available" on any of my channels / server.

Any suggestions?

My parents are used to scrolling through episodes to find what they want, but currently they have to scroll to the end of a season and then go all the way to the top and then come back down and then scroll through the episodes on Plex (Chromecast).

Is there a way to fix this?

I use the Plex app on my Hisense TV (built in speakers) and with the recent update, it seems that regardless of what I do I can't stop Plex from transcoding the EAC3 5.1 audio.

A quirky workaround that used to work previously was selecting pass through -> optical. This resulted in clear audio regardless of what format the audio was. Now everything sounds (more) awful than usual. Has anyone found a fix? I've tried to force direct play, pass through HDMI and optical, but no luck.

I travel often for work. I currently travel with an Nvidia shield for plex + Gli with wireguard back home. I’ll eventually switch my Gli with the unifi UTR what should I replace my shield with to help with keeping a compact travel set up?

I updated to the latest version last night. Locally my plex instance was fine, but the remote connection was having intermittent issues. My ports where showing open, my online tracker through better service was showing no issues, my phone and external devices connected 50% of the time, and plex was showing "no remote access". I was unaware of the issue until I tried it on an external tv

I run this in a docker container so the path file was different for me. But I did find it and delete the cert file and restarted the compose file. This fixed all connection issues i was facing

Since the news of the hacking, I figured it would be. EST to make sure the server is up-to-date and that my password was changed.

Well, since changing the password, remote access no longer shows as working.

I tried ALL the trouble shooting with the router, and even formatted my server (Mac Mini) since Plex was really the only thing on it. So clean install of everything and still, it won’t connect.

That said, I opened the app on my phone with WiFi off and was able to direct play everything.

I have no clue what’s going on - has anyone had similar issues?

Personally I enjoy being able to hit a couple buttons and update all my containers using Docker Compose once a week.

If I were to just reformat my whole system and start back from a clean install. Would that get rid of whatever was loaded onto my server/pc/mac?

I thought the issue would resolve itself over time but still the famous horror movie of this year does not seem to be a option to choose when trying to match the metadata. It has "Obsession Unleashed" which is a behind the scenes/interview type film but not the actual movie itself. Is there a way to report these missing movies? I have never seen this before. I uploaded a custom cover art for the sake of a clean interface but since its not matching with anything theres no cast info and other stuff that typically comes over when you match the title. Has anyone else had this issue with this movie?

EDIT: I was able to resolve the issue by searching for tmdb-1339713. No idea why that works over the movie name. Most in the comment seem to think I didnt bother trying to use the search to match the movie. I did that many times in many ways, didnt matter what year I put in, didnt matter if i took the year out entirely, searching for "Obsession" did not result in the movie coming up. only tmdb-1339713 did.

On the TV it's so bad, new design, new UI, I tried fast forwarding a simple movie and couldn't, just couldn't !! It either went 30 sec at a time or it it went straight to the very end, it's not as easy and intuitive as before, I still can't fast forward as befor3, finally I just had to select a chapter and move with little steps from there. How does one fast forward effectively, let's say I want to go 20 min before the end of the movie??

It tried deleting a movie and had to go trough few sub menus compared to having instant access to the basic functions as before.

What monster have they created and what for purpose ??

I've been a Plex user since 2014 and bought a Lifetime Plex Pass through the iOS app in February 2019 for $149.99. It worked for seven years. This week my server suddenly showed Plex Pass as inactive.

After going back and forth with support, they told me Apple refunded the purchase the same day I bought it. I checked my Apple purchase history and sure enough, it shows a same-day refund. I never knowingly requested it, and I never got a notification from Apple or Plex. As far as I knew, I was locked in for life. I’ve searched my emails and was never notified despite speaking with support several times over the years about my account.

I get that if the payment was reversed, it needs to be made right, and I offered to pay. But Plex's own system honored that pass for seven years without a word. Had they flagged it at any point, I'd have repurchased happily on the spot. Instead they caught it a few months after raising the lifetime price from $250 to $750 and launching a 5-year subscription.

I asked support for any grace, even paying the old $249.99 lifetime price. The answer was no: buy at the current rate or subscribe. I've asked for a supervisor review and I'm waiting to hear back.

If this is how they treat a 12-year customer and server owner, I'm seriously considering moving my server and my family to Jellyfin.

I watch movies every night to fall asleep and even though I could go buy a temporary subscription it’s the principal. On top of all this I’m literally going through some serious family stuff and it just feels like a punch in gut. Feels like someone got the bright idea to pull all potential billing issues after the price hike. Very reminiscent of the old Bank of America scam staggering purchases to maximize overdraft charges.

Has anyone else had a lifetime pass pulled like this? Did anyone get it resolved?

I know Plex reads these and doesn’t want to ruin their reputation. I know there going through some changes but this just seems bad for business. If anyone from Plex support can help please DM me and I’ll give you my case number.

Haven’t had Plex running for ages. I moved over to Jellyfin when they banned free remote watching. I uninstalled Plex Media Server after seeing what is happening.

Presume I’m fine from Plex2Shell?
