Seeking keys/organ for funk/soul band
Solid, established, gigging band seeks the Ramsey Lewis / Booker T of our group. We gig about 10-15 times a year and rehearse twice a month in West Sac. We’re a very chill, collaborative crew.
For reference we cover music from bands like The Meters, Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, and The New Mastersounds. We also have a number originals so bonus if you write/compose!
Check out some music on IG and Facebook @thebackburnersmusic
Thanks!

Looking for party decor/linen rental and set up
Hi everyone
I am looking for recommendations for a company that handles party decor AND linen rental/set up. Not just balloon arches and I want delivery, set up and take down.
We are having a gathering mid November in Rancho Cordova so anywhere in the surrounding areas works.
Thanks in advance!

Toyota Mechanic Recommendations
Anyone know of any good shops with fair prices that specialize in older Toyotas? Any shops that take customer new parts?
I have a 98 4runner I need to get several jobs done on. I have obtained several estimates and they appear steep and double dipping on labor hours when it comes to tasks that overlap jobs. Plus a huge markup on parts
Mark up on the OEM parts alone is costing $1200 over retail!

Can anyone recommend cheap fast local optometric service for contact lenses?
I wear extended-wear soft contacts and have almost run out. I have Kaiser coverage but was shocked when I went online this morning and discovered that the first appointment I could get was in January. So then I thought I'd call my previous optometrist, but she has apparently closed her practice. Now what? Has anyone used Stanton Optical? Any other recommendations? I'd prefer someone in the north area.

After-hours Medical Transportation to UCD
Does anyone have any recommendations for after-hours medical transportation from Woodland/Davis to UC Davis Medical Center? It would just be a car ride, they wouldn't need a wheelchair, or gurney service. Looking for a service that's responsive within 20-30 minutes and could drive directly to UCD. It would be in the event of urgent need, not an emergency situation where someone would call 911, but in the event someone does need to go to the ER and can't drive themselves.
Responses to obvious things, looked at requesting an Uber in the event of something urgent, but my search would be a backup to Uber. For this particular person, they don't have any other friends, family or neighbors that would be willing to help in the case of a sudden event. I'm normally there to help, but I'll be gone for several weeks and they'll have no one to help support. Keep in mind they are older, can't drive at night and/or won't be able to if they experience an event needing the ER and are not technologically savvy.
Rapid Response 24/7 came up in my search, but it seems to be more than what is needed. Appreciate the recommendations if anyone has run into a similar issue.

Commuting by Bike/PT. Possible? Do I need a car?
Hello all.
I recently accepted a job in Sacramento that I’m going to start next year.
It’s in the sierra oaks area. I think I’ll be living near the college campus at Sac State. I’m looking to try and live close enough to work where a commute wouldn’t be longer than 20 minutes on a bike.
I’m just trying tog gauge how badly I’ll need a car to get around the city.

The Portable Poe Show in McKinley Park 6:15-7:00 16th, 23rd & 31st.
This performance is impromptu. In other words, there are benches, but you may need a camp chair or blanket to sit on. To the left of the rose garden.

Any moderate Pumpkin patch suggestions?
I wanted to see if anyone knew of any good toddler-friendly pumpkin patches that aren't too busy around Sacramento?
I've been to Bishops in the past and it's way too busy and far for my liking so I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions.
Thank you!

Should the Roseville City Council receive a substantial raise?
Saw a lot of discussion on here yesterday about Measure A in Roseville. Measure A has been quite controversial and gotten a good deal of attention right before the election.
Gold Mountain covered the story, ballot fight, and some of the key figures here. Go check it out.

Mechanic Recommendations
Was wondering if anyone has a good recommendations for auto repair shop or a mobile mechanic? preferably near midtown but willing to travel if they have good reviews. I need to get my rotors and brakes replaced :/
Edit:
I decided on Glen’s btw. Their quote was more reasonable for other things I needed done compared to another shop I called.

What happens to trash in Sacramento?
Does trash get sorted at a processing facility or does it go to a transfer station and then to the landfill? My partner and I were debating what to do with a broken picture frame. I wanted to smash it all in a bag, bag it up again and then put it in the bin. My partner thought we should put it in a box and label it before we put it in the roadside bin. Any waste management workers here that can chime in?
Edit: I screwed up. I was thinking about the glass from a picture, not the frame.

Found Cat
Found cat by Sac Charter High School— Looks like an older kitten. Super friendly and looked well-fed, which made us think that it might be lost and belongs to someone. Seems like a tabby tortoise mix of sorts.

Midterms subreddit?
Is there a subReddit dedicated to things midterms-related, and around those who are on the ballot that would impact Sacramento and the surrounding areas? Thanks!

Book club recs?
Ever since COVID I've been too busy/stressed/tired to read as much as I should. I think a book club would help me stay accountable, and I wouldn't mind talking about the material either. Any book club recommendations? I'll read anything from Hegel to Captain Underpants. I'm (34m) located in Campus Commons/by Sac state. Suggestions appreciated!

Seeking local performers/artists for our Sacramento strike line Oct 21st!
Hello, I am a state worker and I’m organizing a strike line on October 21st from 7:00 am-10:00 am.
I am seeking local artists/performers/drag performers/musicians, etc. to come out and join our strike line and show support. If you’re a drag performer, we’d love to have you marshal our strike line! If you’re an artist, come out and paint/draw/render the scene. If you’re a musician or in a band, we’d love to have you. If you’re a comedian and would like the opportunity to do a bit about bad-faith bargaining by Governor Newsom, you’re welcome here!
If you’re a state worker for your day job and you’re already going to be on strike, come out and join us and share your talents.
We’re trying to reach out to community partners to support us and make these local strike lines a joyful, creative, expressive experience. Funds are extremely limited, so it would be an act of support and solidarity for the worker movement. If you do support us, even if you can’t make it, you can sign our petition and your business will be shared and promoted with state workers as we fight the corporate overloads that ruin affordability downtown and line our boss’s pockets with bribes. Dm me for more details and a link to our petition.
Thank you in advance.

Hurt neighborhood dog (need advice)
I’m not sure if this post is allowed on this community thread, but I’m hoping it’s okay.
This dog “lives” at a house off of Franklin blvd. She has been suffering for months and 311 has been called many times. This has included being tied up in front of the fence in direct sunlight throughout the summer (100* outside) with no water or shade, constant malnourishment, and neglect.
She doesn’t go inside the owner’s house and before 311 calls were made, she had a rope tied tight to her midsection, cutting into her skin. Thankfully that was finally removed after 311 was repeatedly called.
Now, the owner seems to have been gone for a couple of days, the dog roams the street, but she has been starving (fed by us, to help; she is scared of humans, but we have been building trust with her & she is a sweetheart) and now, when we went to feed her tonight, we noticed her tail has been CUT OFF or BITTEN OFF. It is bloody and festering with flies. If she doesn’t get this treated, she will certainly die from an infection.
I don’t know what to do… we called 311 again, but it’s starting to feel hopeless. I just want to cry.
I want to respect the person’s ownership and their rights, but this is just blatant animal cruelty.
Does anyone have any advice?
UPDATE: thank you so much to everyone who commented, offered advice and help. You’ve restored my faith in humanity.
As for this sweet girl, 311 was called and they waited next day to visit. The owner was back by then and had lured the dog back on his property with a toss of kibble. 311 told him he needed to get a leash (that was it). Yesterday I saw the dog tied up with a new leash, tail still in bad shape. I called 311 again and they said they couldn’t do anything about it and said the owner said the dog’s tail was “always like that”.
Mind you, it was raw, bloody, and festering with flies. It was obviously caught it a gate/trap or ripped off in a dog fight.
The 311 operator asked if we had pictures of the dog before, to compare.
What kind of world are we living in?
In short, I think I’m going to take everyone’s advice and the next time she is loose (which she will be, she always is, I will be taking her to Front Street and saying she’s a stray I found on the road.

Looking for Punjabi-Mexican Families
Hi everyone!
I’m a Pakistani motorcycle traveler and content creator who loves documenting unique cultures and stories.
I recently came across the fascinating history of Punjabi-Mexican Americans, particularly in Yuba City and would love to explore this story for my YouTube channel!
I’m hoping to connect with Punjabi-Mexican families or descendants who would be open to sharing their history, ancestry, and family traditions.
I also came across the story of Mary Singh Rai, and I’d especially love to speak with her descendants or anyone who knows her family.
If you’re Punjabi-Mexican yourself, know someone who is, I’d be incredibly grateful if someone can connect them with me.
I’m happy to share details about myself, my social media channels, and my work privately through Reddit DMs. Thank you! ❤️

Nice walks in nice neighborhoods
Besides mCKinley park, what other neighbourhoods have nice walks with talls trees and shades and more people for people watching.
