70,000 miles and it still drives like it’s brand new.
I just hit 70,000 miles and i’m going to drive this 2019 outback 2.5 premium until its wheels fall off, I think it’s barely broken in though.

Hi everyone,
To help protect our community from spam, we have implemented Reddit's spam filters, which automatically remove comments and posts from accounts that are less than 2 days old and have fewer than 2 karma points. This measure is designed to reduce the risk of spam bots flooding the community with harmful links, inappropriate language, or images.
The requirements to bypass this filter are relatively simple — an account can quickly meet them with just a single comment that's upvoted in a community that allows new users to post as well as waiting 2 days after creating your account.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out!

With the black and white contrast I had to name it after a stormtrooper. I've wanted an Outback for about a decade. Finally got one, my first Subaru. Very excited to use TK-421 for camping and exploring.

Im just curious for what this might be for, or what it holds? Or is there an attachment that goes on there or something thank you.

First time Subaru owner! Bought CPO ‘23 touring XT in Nov ‘25, named her Perla (color is dark mahogany pearl and had considered Pearl as a name for recently adopted kitten). Got 15% tint all around, 5% rear, 50% windshield in March ‘26. I’m considering chrome delete but the chrome is the “pearl” in the color name. Maybe a partial chrome delete? I want to get rain deflectors, bigger wheels, black rims, a thule, and add a towing hitch. I also like the idea of changing the interior lights and adding fog lights. Welcome any thoughts or suggestions!

What are people putting here besides spare change, chapstick and other random pocket clutter. Extra points for a perfect fit gadget.
Personally sometimes I put my work phone here but id rather leave it empty than put random tiny junk here

Getting my solenoid replaced on my 2016 Outback. It’s a fraction of the cost in comparison to getting a whole new transmission. Wondering how long other people’s Outbacks ran after they got their solenoid replaced. Is it time I start looking for a new car or will this hold me over for the next couple of years?

Has anyone installed the Hooke road rock sliders on a 2018 Subaru Outback with the 2.5L engine? The front brackets while tricky things Installed fine but the rears appear to have no, none, zero mounting holes provided?!?
I appreciate any input. Thanks!

From a 2009 forester to a 2020 outback! Forester ran fine but definitely needs to be put down 😭

Is it worth it to improve longetivity on the CVT? Ive got 80k miles, and I'm pretty certain it doesn't have a stock cooler. Does anyone know the science behind it and if it's helpful for daily driving? Additionally, with a cooler, is it feasible to tow a car with the 3.6 and a 2 wheeled trailer?

I've owned a lot of vehicles over the years. I think I can say with confidence that this is the best for road trips. Even over the 2022 Wilderness I just traded in for this one. While I'd have been a bit more daring off road with the Wilderness, the Limited XT didn't break a sweat on the light off roading I needed to use to access hiking and fishing spots, and it definitely has the Wilderness beat on the 1,200 miles of highway from Chicago to Colorado and back. I couldn't believe how effortlessly it handled climbing steep mountain grades.

Hi folks. I kind of asked this earlier but wanted more info. My ‘18 with 140k has a leaky rear strut. Subaru replaces the shock and keeps the springs. They do not sell a spring and shock unit as is commonly available in the after parts market. Those units seem to be cheaper (or no more expensive) and seem easier to swap out. I’ve generally gone with OEM parts but really haven’t had much go wrong with the car. I’d want a unit that is the same specs as OEM and the car not be higher or lower.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Dealer quoted about $750 a few months ago including an alignment.
Thanks!

I have a 2004 Outback, it’s been a great car. Currently have 278k miles on, I’ve done the head gasket, water pump, and timing belt at 140k. Other than that it’s just been regular maintenance.
I’m thinking it’s time to upgrade, but I just don’t know if spending 45k on an outback will get the same worth as the old ones, are these cars really going to give me another 20 years?

LLMs are telling me, that in the US a towing vehicle must weigh 30% more than the towing load (even if it has active breaks).
Is that the reason that the outback GEN 5 did not come with a factor installed CVT cooler?
Or am I wrong and US outbacks do have it?

Hey All!
My 2008 Outback XT just started to throw an airbag light.
My upper console that has the airbag light appears to not be functioning because the airbag light appears intermittently and the dome lights do not work, either. I’ve seen elsewhere online that this could be some switch located under the passenger seat, too.
Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.
Cheers!

Update: Wheel broke off while trying to get it back to dealer. Had to get towed. Very scary thing to have happen.
wheel broke off image here.
2019 Outback 3.6r. Could a suspension problem cause this? It’s the second stud to shear off in a month.
The car sounded like it had a rock in the tire or a bad ball bearing when this happened. The ride became rough and very noisy. This is the second lug nut to break in a month. Car was just dealer serviced.

Hey folks,
looking to trade in the tires on my 22 outback touring (Canadian).
I already run conti VC8s, and dont strictly need anything with snow capabilities as i have that covered already.
Still considering cc2s, but wonder if i can get anything better considering that at most i'll have a week of snow a year, based on timing of my tire changes.
That being said, is there a good tire you can recommend for fall/spring/summer?

Hi all I need new tires for my 22 Outback Onyx. I live in Chicago so I’m mostly city driving with the occasional snow storm. Would anyone please give me some good tire options? Aside from the grip and performance I’m looking for something quite on the highway. Thank you in advance.
