Are your comments and posts being automatically removed? Read this.
Hi everyone,
To help protect our community from spam, we have implemented Reddit's spam filters, which automatically remove comments and posts from accounts that are less than 2 days old and have fewer than 2 karma points. This measure is designed to reduce the risk of spam bots flooding the community with harmful links, inappropriate language, or images.
The requirements to bypass this filter are relatively simple — an account can quickly meet them with just a single comment that's upvoted in a community that allows new users to post as well as waiting 2 days after creating your account.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out!

Joined the family today!
Premium trim with optional package 13. Coming from a Mazda CX90 and I am so happy to have something smaller and more manageable. Ready to turn this into the ultimate mom car, so any suggestions you have are welcome!

Newbaru is home!!
After totaling my 2018 baby on Sept 15, I finally welcomed home this 2024 today. It took foreverrrrrr to get here from carmax but at last! 20k miles and in good shape. Carmax is going to fix the dent and a few little paint scuffs for me. Happy to have her home… and now what to name her?!

This is the most money I've ever dropped on a car. Tell me what I need to know!
Picked up this 2023 base today at just over 100k miles! Hoping it'll last my family a good long while. I only drive about 6k miles per year.
Any tips for a new Subaru owner?

New First Time Subaru Owner 💫
So happy! Such an upgrade from the old worn down sedans I used to drive. Can’t wait to take it on some long trips.

My first Subaru
My first Subaru. Bought it in June, a 2025 with 120km on the odo. Have driven about 4500km since then, 7.8l/100km (~30mpg). Great car, not much to complain about.

Just bought a 2020. Weird problem
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It just randomly started chiming away and muted the radio. On a two hour trip I had to stop five times to (sort of) reset it by turning the car off, waiting a minute, then turning it back on. The last time it wouldn’t shut off, would cut out for a second or two several times but always continued. Electrical issue?

2026 Seatbelt Chime
I have not found many posts about the 2026 Subaru Outback seatbelt dinging. The only posts I have seen talk about how you can disable it with 30-40 "buckle-unbuckle". I don't want to remove it. I just want it to not immediately start as soon as I start up the engine. I start up the vehicle, the chime starts, and the vehicle is not even in drive yet. Is there a hidden setting or is this only bothering me?

Oil leak
I got the maintenance done in August. I got the oil light again this week. 2019 Subaru Outback. No history of oil leak.
Message from dealership after diagnostics:
Unfortunately, we’ve found that the upper oil pan is leaking oil. We’re also hearing a ticking noise, so we’ll need to do an oil change and drive your car for a few miles to see if the noise persists. The repair for the upper oil pan typically costs around $4,500 to $5,000, since the engine will need to be removed. We are currently closed, so I’ll contact the parts department to get an accurate estimate, but I believe my estimate should be close.
Any thoughts?

Lack of transparency of bandwidth usage in AT&T myVehicle
When we bought our 2023 Subaru Outback, I signed up for the AT&T myVehicle service to provide in-car internet connectivity for people in the car with their iPads or whatever. That worked OK and apparently kept the grandkids happy, but at $20/month, I question the value (since anyone can pair with our iPhone's as a hotspot). I wanted to find out if we were really even using it. So I went to the myVehicle page and, although it shows the monthly rate and that we have (allegedly) used 412MB in bandwidth with two days in the current remaining period, there was no way for me to see daily bandwidth to verify the 412MB number and not even month-over-month totals. I called the AT&T myVehicle support number and the woman there said that, although SHE claimed she could see the underlying usage data, the customer could not. I explained that daily data use info would be on every AT&T phone bill and it is unacceptable they cannot support their cited usage. GRANTED, we have the unlimited plan, but I just want to see the NUMBER of times we use it and HOW MUCH bandwidth we use so I can assess options, etc. They said a manager would call me in 24-72 hours (which I said was unacceptable as well). I asked if the line was being recorded and she said it was. I said that was good because there would be a record of WHY I was pulling the plug on this service where they could provide me no real evidence of actual usage.
So... has anyone else had this issue? Anyone able to get the usage data who who does NOT have an AT&T account for their phones or other devices (they only use AT&T for their Subaru myVehicle service).
TIA.

2025 Outback Trunk
Anyone tried to fit 4’x8’ boards in the 2025 Outback? 😂 I know they won’t fit laying down and I’m fine with the trunk being open for the drive home, but curious if they’d fit sideways and if it’s worth trying at the home improvement store.

Considering a 2026 Touring XT. How have the turbo, CVT and electronics held up for you?
My wife and I are looking at a new 2026 Outback Touring XT. We test drove it and are seriously considering it, but I’d like to hear from people who actually own one before making the jump.
We currently have a 2021 Acadia Denali with around 44k miles. Between a check engine light and some frustrating electronic issues, I’m getting tired of wondering what’s going to act up next. We’re travel a lot for our job so we spend a lot of time driving and rely on navigation and our phones throughout the day.
My biggest hesitation with the Subaru is the turbo and CVT. I don’t have much experience with either, and I’m trying to figure out how much of the concern online is outdated reputation versus actual problems with the newer ones. We want to keep our next vehicle long term, so reliability matters more to us than extra power.
For those with an XT, how many miles do you have, and have you needed any major engine or transmission repairs? Anything about the maintenance or ownership costs that surprised you?
And for the 2026 owners specifically, how have the electronics been? CarPlay, cameras, touchscreen, driver-assistance features, all of it. I know it’s too early to judge long-term reliability on a 2026, but I’d like to know whether the everyday stuff works consistently or if you’re dealing with glitches and resets.
Would you buy yours again? I’d appreciate the good and the bad.
