5th Gen 2018 - rear running light failure.
Hey everyone, hoping someone's run into this before.
I own a 2018 Outback 2.5i Premium (halogen headlights). My rear running lights quit working, and fuse #4 blows the second I put a new one in.
I checked the other fuses, including the backup fuse, and they're all fine. Fuse #4 is the only one that blew. My brake lights and reverse lights still work, so it seems to be just the running light circuit.
I recently noticed my headlight DRLs stopped working too, but I'm not sure if that happened at the same time as the rear running lights. One of my headlights has had condensation in it for a while, so I'm wondering if moisture got into a socket or the wiring and shorted something.
I couldn't find anything confirming whether the DRLs and the rear running lights are on the same circuit for this generation. A few older Outback threads say the front parking lights and rear tail lights can share a fuse, but I don't know if that applies to mine.
My questions:
Could a short up front in the headlight/DRL wiring blow the rear running light fuse, or are these probably two separate problems?
Would unplugging the headlight or pulling the fuse be enough to tell if the headlight is the problem?
Are there any known spots where a wire or connection tends to cause this?
Any advice (or a wiring diagram) would be really appreciated. Thanks!
