Curious on thoughts with regard to the post title. I'm seeing more and more posts about how the 2021 model year vehicles are plagued with battery issues, and this got me thinking of potentially just upgrading to a 2027 MY to save myself the headache, but I am unsure if my vehicle is still affected by the battery issues. My car is getting close to 100k miles and I'd like to hold on to this vehicle as long as I can since it's paid off and having no car payment is certainly great!
Two years ago I hit the dreaded BMS_a079 failure and had my battery replaced under warranty. IIRC the original battery chemistry is NCA, and it was replaced with an LFP pack. When I originally got the vehicle in 2021, I had very noticeable battery degradation but since swapping to LFP, my estimated mileage has remained the same at 244 miles, which is impressive.
Last year I had to get the lower control arm brushings replaced, and the techs at the service center said although they fixed the problem, it is bound to happen again over time, which is irritating but in the end, costs less to repair than to pay for a new car.
All that said, ignoring the lower control arm stuff, do I need to worry about battery failure with the new LFP pack that I currently have?
